Glenn Hauser logs January 1, 2026; World of Radio 2328
Friday, January 02 2026

Logs
** COLOMBIA. 1100.29, Jan 1 at 0439, het on plus side of WTAM. Bingo,
this in latest NZDX times: ``HJAT Barranquilla has drifted up high to
about 1100.28. Heard with many ID's and Colombia mentions, parallel to
1170 and web stream which was a few seconds off (Neil Kazaross via MW
Offsets io Group 6/12)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, Jan 1 at 2029, RHC windhowl only, S6/S7, and 11880, at
2025, S9 of dead air as usual instead of English. Jan 1 is a major
revolutionary holiday you`d think they`d do their best for once, but
SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 7355, Jan 1 at 0420, Xmasmx - can this be R. Martí?
Yes, // 7435, Spanish talking about Xmas. Isn`t this off-topic and a
bit late? Both VG signals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 15380, Jan 1 at 2030, R. Martí giving SW frequencies
including 11930, and again, 13605 despite the fact that 13605 is in
use only during A-seasons, duh! They can`t even utter their own basic
info accurately. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** INDIA. 11900, Jan 1 at 2026, south Asian song, S5/S6 with flutter,
toward end of French hour from Akashvani, and maybe intrusive English
segment earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1090, Jan 1 at 0435 UT, Spanish over KAAY, mentioning
`Grupo Mundo Mayá``, ``Multimedia``, ``la mágica de la Navidad``. Got
to be one of two Mexicans, in IRCA Log:

``XEAU NL Monterrey 5000 500 Milenio Radio, Periodismo con Carácter,
Milenio Noticias 10-90 AM 24h? NWS/CHR:S? ORO Still active on AM 5/25
(logged by DXer). No FM. No longer //XHTKR 103.7FM (ex-XHFMTU).

XEHR Pueb Puebla 2500 1000 Cinco Radio, La H-R, Al Servicio de Puebla,
La Señal Que Une a Puebla 24h NWS/TLK ACIR No FM. Still active on AM
8/25 per SDR monitoring. "Radar" newscast. Has used an unusual tacky
instrumental version of anthem with synthesized instruments.``

Broad search indicates Grupo Mundo Maya runs hotels, etc., at
archaeological sites. That correlates with cinco radio, which leads to
XEHR, tho would expect closer XEAU more likely:

https://cincoradio.com.mx/grupo-olmeca-maya-mexica-ahora-se-llama-grupo-mundo-maya/
cincoradio.com.mx/en-vivo/?estacion=lahr
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 AM, 0417 Jan 1, pirate music with some clix,
more music, S8/9 direct. Many reports here as unID or Two Dog Radio,
all in USB, between 0215 and 0443:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,156415.0.html

Also this: ``2 Dog Radio, 1 January 2026, 0240, 6950 USB. 0300,
rendition of Rufus Thomas "Walkin' The Dog" (Sammy Hagar)? Heard it
Thru the Grapevine at 0308 (sounded like Creedence Chronicle version)
and Led Zeppelin at 0138 and cut off to DJ and talk at 0321. Happy New
Year everybody at 0315. "Let's play some music" to some mainstream
older rocker tune. Still audible but fading at 0355. Was way over S9
(rarity in Arizona). Still on after 0400, but JBA. + w/ Drake SW8 and
100' r.w. -- (Rick Barton, AZ)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 21500, Jan 1 at 2032, routine bandscan hits a JBA
signal here, S4, sounds like the thintonations of Josiah on Station
YHWH - yet another new frequency, when nothing else is listed. Then I
try several remotes around North America, and the only one getting him
well is VE6JY in Alberta, accurately calibrated vs WWV 20000, showing
offset about minus 19 Hz. There is also a trace line at Maryland SDR,
-20 Hz. 2052 about incest and cannibalism; 2053 ID as ``YHWH, I`m
Josiah Elias`` then about phony texts in Old Testament,
``Christianity - the greatest hoax ever``; usual screeds, still past
2115, up to S9+15. I let it run mostly in the background. Rarely
listened to him even this much, but I daresay he makes his point in
the first 10 minutes, the rest just over and over and over. Bits of
music, I think his only theme, `Days of Hard Life`, appear
periodically, such as 2134, 2232, 2350 and then he restarts. In fact I
know at 2329 I hear him say exactly the same thing as 2 or 3 hours
ago. Reception generally holds up well into the VE6JY remote,
occasional fade-downs, and at 2241 apparently a brief break in
transmission, but still in well when finally cut off right at 2400*
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 6125 & 7285, Jan 1 at 0419, NO signals from VOT English.
Must be off the air. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960.005, Jan 1 at 2340, VOT not off the air, S9+30/40 into
UTwente with Brazilian music, `Happy New Year` in several languages
but not all of them as in the 2-minute multilingual ID filler reel.
And Efsun with the story about Nigel the parrot first heard several
days ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 379 MCW kHz, Jan 1 at 0733 UT, BRA, 100 watt NDB at `Broad
River` Asheville NC. On 379 normally hear RU[E], 25 watts at
Russellville AR; now maybe underneath (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 385 MCW kHz, Jan 1 at 0735 UT, HO, 50-watt NDB at HOt
Springs AR; axually tuned to 383 USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 486 kHz, Jan 1 at 0152 UT into Natural Bridge VA remote, nor
at 0411 UT direct, no sign of Fessenden tribute from Forest VA
supposed to run for 24 hours from 21 UT Dec 31; just like last week.
Wonder if anyone ever heard it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2327 monitoring: confirmed UT
Thursday January 1 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+10 into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed UT Thursday January 1 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S7/9+10
into Costa Rica SDR.

Also confirmed Thursday January 1 at 1730 on SW Radio Gold, Germany,
6160.001, S7/S8 into UTwente with heavy ACI from 6165, but 3975.001
clear S8/9+5.

Andy at SW Radio informs me there has been another schedule change for
WOR on Saturdays, 1530 on 3975 & 6160 and new 2030 UT on 3975.

WORLD OF RADIO 2328 contents: a special edition: DX nostalgia by Ronny

John Figliozzi, Uncle Bill Tilford, Mike Gorniak, James Branum; what
became of the mini-disc? by Greg Hardison; how radios in cars came

** U S A. 7505, Jan 1 at 0421 undermod talk S9+10. Cannot recognize as
English, so probably Hindi as sometimes on WRNO, activity very
sporadic (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1700 kHz, Jan 1 at 0801 UT, Fox Sports Radio. Got to be KVNS
Brownsville TX. No sign of SS much closer and usual dominator KKLF
Richardson TX, off? I see that 1700 KBGG Des Moines IA has been silent
since March. Tuning down the Xband, also hear FSR mentions on 1660 KS,
1650 IA, 1640 OK, 1620 NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 810.59, Jan 1 at 0432 UT, JBA het against 810.00 WHB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1220 kHz, Jan 1 at 0440 UT, ``motorboating`` sound now
more rapid than before; seems equally on LSB and USB sides (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1430 kHz, Jan 1 at 0759 UT, M&W in Spanish religious
talk, interrupted at 0800 for English ID, ``1430 KNPS Austin`` as I
copied it. But does not correlate with anything close to Austin TX or
Austin MN. There are several other minor Austins. But FCC LMS does not
reach any 1430 station with such a CoL. What did I really hear? There
is a KNSP in Staples MN, but it`s ESPN and nowhere near Austin. Did
they say Ogden instead of Austin? KMES there in UT is SS:REL, U4 25/5
kW. Night pattern somewhat pulled in to our direxion but not a notch.
No other SS:RELs look likely in the K-side of the country (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4110 UT, Jan 1 at 0415, JBA carrier. Could be third
harmonic of something on 1370 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 4975, Jan 1 at 0413, still detecting the JBA carrier
here with no idea where it`s coming from, unknown broadcaster, or ute?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11780, Jan 1 at 0425, JBA carrier. Maybe RNA Brasil on
late for NY? EiBi shows nothing else at this hour. But Aoki shows both
Hebrew and Turkish from Iran starting 0423; it`s been mostly inactive.
WRTH 2026 shows Turkish only from 0423.

I had been bandscanning since 0413 for any signs of NYE activity from
Latin America on 90, 60, 49, even 41, 31 and 25 mbs, with nothing to
show for it, but I noted the local high noise levels thru my 100` E/W
longwire on various bands: 90m S9, 60m S9+10, 49m S9+10, 43m S7/S9,
31m S9/+20, 25m S5/S6, 19m S3/S5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
