 WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST
Hi Glenn, my latest Hitlist update. https://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm 1) Updated UTC offset notations for change to DST on 8 March for Cuba (Habana R, R Progreso, & R Rebelde); and USA (R Marti, VOA, & WRMI) (I'm still retaining the VOA links just in case there's a return, although that now seems very unlikely) 2) Philippines - R Veritas Asia: Updated link to home page 3) USA - WBCQ: Added link to 'Allen & Angela Worldwide archives' for 2026 The next update is scheduled for end of March. Best wishes and 73, Alan Roe ** ALGERIA. 13855, March 8 at 0052, S9/+10 of JBM singing. EiBi shows Ifrikya FM, Ouargla at 1900-0100 Arabic except including 2000-2004 Hausa, irr. 2005-2030 English. More modulation, SVP (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA. 28417 USB, March 8 at 0031, LQ5H calling CQ contest. QRZ.com: ``LQ5H Argentina flag Argentina, OLMOS Victor Fabian (LU3HS), Gregorio Gavier Nº 4182, CORDOBA, AR 5009, Argentina, LQ5H, special call for Activations and Contest`` --- These four-character calls proliferate in contests because: there is a premium on different prefices even if all from the same old countries; and it takes less time to pronounce them even fonetikaly than if there were another letter! It all adds up during a contest, saving time, allowing for a few more contacts than otherwise. Unfortunately in standard fonetix all letters are two- or even three syllables, except for G = Golf, and M = Mike. Some abbreviate F = Foxtrot to merely Fox, but it sounds too much like Golf! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA. 28510 USB, March 8 at 0031, LP1H calling CQ contest. Strongest signal amongst the ones I`m logging now. QRZ.com: ``LP1H Argentina flag Argentina, RAMON DE LA RUA ( LU5HM ), " LA ESCONDIDA " - PRIVATE ANTENNA FIELD, CORDOBA, SANTA CATALINA - CORDOBA 5221, Argentina`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** AUSTRALIA. 28521 USB, March 8 at 0035, VL4A working contest. QRZ.com: ``VJ2X Australia flag Australia, Rob VK2XZ, Southern Highlands, N.S.W., Australia, AUSTRALIAN CONTEST STATION -- VJ2X is owned and primarily operated by VK2XZ. The station is designed and engineered for all operational contest purposes with upto four stand alone operators at any one time. Two transmitters / recievers can simultaneously be run on the same band at any time for hunt and run operating.`` - believe I`ve heard him as VK2XZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 28310 USB, March 8 at 0029, PV2G calling CQ contest. QRZ.com: ``PV2G Brazil flag Brazil, Stephano Silva, rua José Deperon Filho 60, Santa Cruz das Palmeiras, SP 13657006, Brazil --- The antenna system is a stack of 5 over 5 over 5 monobanders on a 18 meters tower. All antennas are controlled by individual rotators that allow them to run in multiple regions or stack in a specific location. It also offers the ability to toggle antenna RX, witch allows you to obtain the best takeoff angle for the desired station.`` 28640 USB, March 8 at 0037, ZW2A working contest. QRZ.com: ``ZW2A Brazil flag Brazil, DEVANIR GALLO, Rua Alameda Roma Nº 81, Mairinque, SP 18120376, Brazil`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11950, March 8 at 0049, jazz from RHC, S9+20 with good modulation; 11760 sounds like same music but buried under S9+30/20 of windhowl.
