** OKLAHOMA. Tornado hitting southern OKC: the local TV channels have blown away all commercial network progrqmming all evening. Around 0200 UT Sat Apr 4 I survey which FM stations are plugged into which TV stations. Some may have been missed, but on a portable seem off the air. Some TV coverage is automatically interrupted for NWS warnings. 89.7 The House, not based in OKC; KFOR Most other gospel huxters ignoring the crisis! 91.7 KOSU, NWS only? amid The Spy music 92.5 KWTV 93.3 off? 94.7 KFOR 96.1 KFOR, later back to music 96.9 KOCO - the only one on that? 98.1 off? 98.9 music 99.7 Mustang, C&W first, then KOCO? 100.5 off? 101.9 NWS 102.7 KFOR 104.1 KWTV 105.3 deadair 106.7 off? 107.7 KWTV around 0230 UT I try MW band on portable, not much audible in storm noise but: 1000 KFOR 800 Bott not weather. These are quick & dirty obs; maybe more later (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. From Doug Smith`s FCC info in April Line Of Sight, WTFDA: ``OK Oklahoma City K17JN 17 (17) Granted move from Enid; 15kw/140m, 35-24-54/97-30-38.`` So it will eventually become invisible in Enid, even if on the air, leaving us with no local TV signals; will it still be multi-channel 3ABN? Another translator, which AFAIK has never really been on air in Enid, at least I`ve not seen it, is moving to Wichita!: ``KS Wichita K25RD 25 (19) Granted move from K32MG Enid, Okla.; 15kw/148m, 37-20-08/97-27-54.`` One might wonder what`s the point? Apparently preferable to move something licensed than start over from scratch, even tho a different channel and different call. Also different equipment? Some other such license-moves are even trans-continental. One other strange item: KSBI RF23 is already too weak, compared to KFOR RF27, KWTV RF25 and KOKH RF24 OKC which are solid into Enid, but KSBI is normally BAD: ``OK Oklahoma City KSBI 23 (52) Requests power reduction to 540kw. Granted`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.004-, April 3 at 2158, VOT IS & IDs, JBA into UTwente and displaying as 11784.9821 not locking in. But at 2201 when retuned and measured, S7/9+5 into UTwente -- BUT at 2238 recheck, it`s OFF! Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Then George McClintock notifies me at 0021 UT Sat Apr 4 that 5085 *is* on tonight -- but not hearing it yet by 0100 or even 0200, something else wrong, or not to turn on much before 0300 WOR time? 5085 finally came on about 0215. George had a problem getting the live-in transmitter site family to turn it on! But WOR should run at 0300. Thanks this week to Mike Cooper, Stone Mountain GA, for a generous check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One my also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, April 3 at 2159, this WRMI is OFF, no signal direct nor into Georgia SDR; yet 9955 is OK with WOR. 9455 still off at further chex, until 2338 UT ON with stupid ballgame in Spanish. Supposedly RAE in Portuguese this hour on Fridays, but this must be R. Nacional domestic relay; indeed such an ID during game at 2342. Chop at 2359.5 for WRMI ID, DA and then something else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130 -66 Hz = 5129.934, Apr 3 at 2355, this WBCQ is on with `The Planet` IS & ID loop, S9+15/20; same on 6160 -72 Hz = 6159.928, S9+10/20. I keep listening to 7490-, from 0000 UT Sat Apr 4, `WTO` theme, first interjexion ``Heart``; later, starts with ``Heart and soul of electronic media, ladies and gentlemen, is good old radio...``.
