Mali ? Sever power cuts on March 11 ?
Saturday, April 11 2026

HCDX

Today April 11 three log checks of RTM Mali Bamako center #1 on 9635 day and
5995 kHz night,
as well as CRI African relay transmissions via Mali Bamako center #2 were
negative.

Once again, they weren’t heard today, 11 April.
There is speculation that power cuts are once again taking place in the
Malian capital, Bamako.

Overview using AI comment:

Mali is currently experiencing severe power cuts caused
by a combination of high debt, regional conflicts and infrastructure
problems.

Main reasons for the power cuts:
High debt: Mali owes more than 94 million US dollars to the management
company

of a regional dam that also supplies Senegal and Mauritania.
This “enormous” debt burden is jeopardising the electricity supply.

Islamist blockade: In November 2025, Islamists blocked fuel supplies,
exacerbating

the energy crisis in the capital, Bamako.

Infrastructure & security: Mali’s electricity supply is vulnerable to
attacks,
and the precarious security situation (armed conflicts) is hindering the
maintenance

and repair of facilities.

Impact: Power cuts are disrupting people’s daily lives. Whilst remote
villages

are partly supported by solar projects (such as those by atmosfair),
urban infrastructure suffers from the unreliable power supply.
