** CUBA. 9790, Apr 30 at 0411, S9 dead air, must be CRI relay scheduled 04-05 in Cantonese to N America west. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11760, Apr 30 at 0415, RHC S9+25/30 in Kriyol, yet after midnight in Haiti on EDT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 13790, Apr 30 at 0419, S9/+5 talk in ? language. EiBi shows BBC Somali M-F at 0400-0430. I always have a hard time recognizing Somali; are there obvious keywords? HFCC shows 250 kW at 0 degrees, which I think means non-direxional rather than due north (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 17530, Apr 30 at 0427, kid? solo with harmonious choral accompaniment, smax of Christianity, 0429-0430+ YL Chinese announcement -- yes, it`s MWV in Chinese this hour, at 55 degrees nowhere near thisaway, but with T/E propagational advantage (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALI. 5995, Apr 30 at 0601, ORTM not off the air, S7/S9 direct of repetitive music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2345) ** NORTH AMERICA. 9820 USB, April 30 at 0410 S9+20 of pirate music, hard to believe only a pirate, but within seconds it stops, after saying something like ``thanks for tuning in``. It`s Mix Radio International, which has been showing up on lots of frequencies beyond the Pirate Band. Tony Pavick had tipped this at 0233 on the WOR iog: ``Mix Radio International is up and perking on 9820 USB tonite``. No sign of Brasil 9818.6v lately, and Rudolf Grimm, SP, had reported Apr 30 to HCDX: ``9820 kHz: Radio Nove de Julho, São Paulo SP – April 26 at 1513. No signal`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2345) ** OKLAHOMA. 1390, Apr 30 at 0659 UT, dead air from local KCRC Enid; I quickly check // 1640 KZLS, but by now an ID for ``WWLS FM, The Sports Animal``. That`s the wrong ID normally aired on WKY 930 and KWPN 640. NRC AM Log shows those are with ESPN, while KCRC/KZLS are with Fox Sports Radio. Is it possible, or unusual for anyOkie to be affiliated with both major national sports nets? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17715, April 30 at 1913 and 2209 chex, for the third day in a row nothing but dead air on REE`s South American frequency, whenever checked during its entire span, while 15500 for North America remains VG and 15520 for ME also modulating, while 15390 for Africa remains absent. Someone`s not paying attention at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2345) ** TURKEY. 9770, April 30 at 0412, S7/S9 rock music. Nevertheless, per EiBi it`s VOT in Turkish at 04-06 to Europe, and HFCC shows 300 kW, 310 degrees so also USward. At 0600 switches to 13635 only 250 kW at same azimuth (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, April 30 at 2217, no VOT signal in English into Georgia SDR, like yesterday. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2345) ** U S A [and non]. Many thanks for a very generous contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com from Chris Campbell, Columbus OH, ``I always look forward to Thursday evenings each week to catch the new WOR.`` One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 900 kHz, Apr 30 at 0646 UT, music from the ``Great American Songbook, WKDA`` ID, Lebanon TN. This dominates 900 here at night, at least on my E/W longwire, no sign of XEW. This is quite contrary to radio-locator.com listing as ``Radio Luz 900 AM`` = Spanish! and 5000/136 watts, non-direxional but `2 modes`, whatever that mean. Coverage maps are totally circular from site just east of Lebanon. NRC AM Log as of last summer shows format as C&W/NOS, not SS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1230 kHz, Apr 30 at 0705 UT, weather but no clue to location, and ID sounds like KXJB? on 98.9 FM. The WTFDA FM Database is offline as I want to search for a match, so I look thru all 150 US stations on 1230 in the NRC AM Log, no // 98.9 shown until almost the end, WXCO Wausau WI, with W255DN, TLK format. Later WTFDA FMDB is back, and makes exactly the same single hit. So maybe. WBBZ Ponca City OK is far enough not to own 1230 at night, but close enough usually to be in the mix (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 810.53, Apr 30 at 0646 UT, JBA carrier hetting WHB 810, source yet to be discovered (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15489-15512 approx., Apr 30 at 0421, very rapid clickery, OTH radar? Whose? Exactly same sound on 15829-15854, S9. So bandwidth about 24 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15916.0, Apr 30 at 0423, S9 dead air with clix, yet another mystery ending in -6. Clix JBA out to 15900/15928, approx every trisecond, but not evenly spaced; counted 22 during one minute (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0133 UT May 1 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
