** CANADA. 2598 USB, May 4 at 0435 UT unreadable marine weather but French intonation; sounds the same on 2749 USB, but unknown if //. Per dxinfocentre.com/mb these are the final broadcasts of the night before a 3-hour break: 2598 from 0437 is VQB-22, Natashquan (Escoumins), 600 watts; and 2749 USB from 0437 is VCN Escoumins, also 600 watts. I guess that mean 2598 is relaying, or fed from, the 2749 station. In summer storm noise level such as around St Louis area, I was not really expecting to hear anything on these. Both are on the north shore of the maritime estuary of the St. Lawrence River in Québec (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11880, May 3 at 2258, dead air from RHC, S9+10/20 into Georgia SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [non]. 9490, UT Mon May 4 at 0238, R. República via FRANCE, with religious rather than political stuff! 0239 ID, S9+20/30 direct, still not jammed, almost as strong as SSOB 9455 WRMI; 0240 ``10 Minutos con Jesús`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR. 9754.955 approx., May 4 at 0241, MWV Spanish, ``un momento de reflección``, S7/S9 considerably off-frequency. At 0356 near ending, into Maryland SDR S6/S9, measured 9754.963 as accurately calibrated with WWV (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADAGASCAR [and non]. 17530, May 4 at 0428, English clip into Chinese, S9+10/20 direct, from WCB; the second SSOB, topped only by 17675 RNZP at S9+10/30 which is often much weaker (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 1060 kHz, May 4 at 0502, war-mongering NA playing here on XERDO Matamoros and also on 1570 XERF, right after `La Hora Nacional`, but could not hear a note of it anywhere else on full bandscan, altho some other XEs such as 1050 XEG were not playing it. Probably better luck at local midnight HCM = 06 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 730 kHz, May 4 at 0505, XEHB full ID claiming 50 mil watts, en ``la cadena Más Picuda`` - so it`s a network? Not unusual for a Mexation to claim day power even if much less at night, but I bet it`s really on day power to own 730 like it has been. I search the entire huge IRCA Mexican Log on Picuda and get only a few other hits: 1170 XERT Reynosa; 840 XETEY Tepic, Nayarit + 93.7 plus XEHB`s own FM 104.7, Hidalgo del Parral, Chihua2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 11820, UT Monday May 4 at 0229 direct, RRI Spanish S9/+10 SSOB, giving schedule of RCM = WEWN on 12050 as 00-06 & 14-24, and ``hasta el próximo mes``, so apparently a monthly DX segment, within mailbag show, 0232 acknowledging something from Barranquilla, Colombia. 0235 RRI ID, and ``Club de Oyentes`` de RRI, with Victoria Sepciu (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2345 monitoring: confirmed Sunday May 3 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.995, S9+10 into nearby Noale SDR. Also confirmed Sunday May 3 at 2026 the 2000 on WRN Europe stream. Confirmed not Sunday May 3 at 2300 on WRMI 9395, as expected, replaced by something else. Confirmed Sunday May 3 at 2330 on WRMI 9455, S9+10/20 into Knoxville SDR. Confirmed UT Monday May 4 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/9+10 into S Texas SDR. Confirmed UT Monday May 4 from 0259.5 on Area 51. S9+10 into Maryland SDR on WBCQ 5130 -90 Hz = 5129.91, after `Lost Discs` show but I am chopped off during opening for inflexible WBCQ s/off at 0300; continuing on A51 webcast. Many thanks for a very generous contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com from Chris Campbell, Columbus OH, ``I always look forward to Thursday evenings each week to catch the new WOR.`` One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7489.9, UT Monday May 4 at 0246, WBCQ S9/+25 direct, someone interviewing Al Weiner, program title ``Shortwave Listening --`` something. 0249 it`s ``The Tech Prepper``, P O Box 7606, Cave Creek AZ 85327 [sounded like he said Hayes Creek till I uplooked ZIP code]. Then a website thetechprepper.geocities.org ! GC has been gone since 2009y! Is this a very old recording? Allan did sound a bit younger. 0251 host tells story of being stranded in southern California, how he got into ham radio in 2020y with COVID; and has been on YouTube since May 5, 2020, anniversary imminent. Seemed about to wrap up by 0300. I have a look at current website that I find: https://www.thetechprepper.com/about which is obviously a business, but no info on guy`s name or Cave Creek. The thing is, nothing about this on the WBCQ program schedule, which is never up-to-date. Shown during these hours on UT Monday with times mislabeled EST instead of EDT: 7490 Mo 0100 0230 UTC Su 09:00PM 10:30PM EST Plain Old Doug Show 7490 Mo 0130 0230 UTC Su 09:30PM 10:30PM EST The Warning with Tony Lamb 7490 Mo 0230 0400 UTC Su 10:30PM 12:00AM EST The Overcomer Ministry And no `Tech Prepper` anywhere else on WBCQ skeds. Note above how the first two entries before 0230 are mutually exclusive! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4840, May 4 at 0637, this WWCR is S9+35/50 of dead air except for hi-pitched squeal. The squeal seems to infest most or all WWCR frequencies, e.g. 5935 S9+55/60 with PMS at 0638; 13845 S9+5 SSOB at 1448; 7490 S9+20 at 1454 May 4. Guess they need better audio filtering (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 990, May 4 at 0454 UT, adstring, ``The Mighty 9-90, K-wam``, anti-woke program promo, i.e. KWAM Memphis TN. Was looking for the sports/betting station believed to be WNML Knoxville, which KWAM, halfway between east/west would block. But see unID 990 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1700 kHz, May 4 at 0446 UT, ``Jalapeño Radio 95.7 FM`` ID in English, Mexmx; 0459 full ID as KKLF, 1700 and K239DA, Jalapeño Radio Network, Richardson-Dallas TX. That`s a mere 60-watt translator wagging this dog (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, May 4 at 0633, no signal from RV, not even a JBA carrier. Had been missing a few days. I can normally detect it this late whenever on. Nor on 9960. But Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain was hearing 7260 at 0447-0503 after notifying them of outage; if direct, that`s a notable long-path catch for him. Also Ron Howard had 7260 to NZ remote at 0450-0506, but by 0615 were on new 5040. Not in WRTH 2026, but 5040 has been used before and current EiBi shows it at 1830-2000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Re 990 kHz, May 3 at 0642, sports format, WNML TN?
