Logs
** CUBA. RHC, no signals on any known frequency, May 5 around 2210.
RHC recovers 24 hours later, May 6 at 2213 with S9/+10 of dead air on
15140, and at 2221 S9+10 of dead air on 11880. Next step, maybe
modulation? SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 11800, May 6 at 1411, NHK World R Japan, only token English
broadcast, M&W dialog, seems like language lesson, S3/S4 direct. While
11815 in Japanese is slightly stronger somehow, S4/S5, both beamed
away from us. At 1434, 11800 still going, listed Burmese (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 5995, May 6 at 0637, S7 African talk, so ORTM not off the air
at the moment (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1680 kHz, May 6 circa 2030 UT, Virtual DJ Radio via
lowpower pirate in Enid, peaking circa crossroad of US 81 and US 412,
for the record, is still active, playing ``Ghost Riders in the Sky``.
I have never located its exact source; would require a lot of footwork
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 5140 USB, May 6 at 1400, no signals yet for
Wednesday net. Could be on 7477 instead? Nothing there either. *1402.7
starts 5140 late with alternate NCS WPFY721, Seminole EOC. Does not
give own name but later addressed as Ernie. Does not go thru the
counting routine etc., that Breanna does - they go by different
scripts. Oklahoma Operations Secure Test Net. Roll call of each one
twice unless answered first.

WQYW443, Beckham County;
WQZT582, Broken Arrow;
WQSY836, Byng;
WNPV700, Durant, Bryan County; Bill answers, L&C, always strongest
here;
WQUG374, Leflore County;
WQYW883, Moore EOC; Gaylon? answers, JBA;
WNUW216, OKC Mac?;
WNUW215, Ponca City;
KNGR728, Pontotoc County;
WSHM692, State of Oklahoma [call of alt. NCS];
WNBM839, Stillwater, Joe ans;
WNCH624, Tulsa;
Any others, in-state? No.
WNBE830, Missouri State EOC, Jefferson City; Corey ans, JBA;

1409 any others? summarizes four OK and one MO checked-in. Till next
week at 9 am local, 1410 clear (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 6950, May 5 at 2212, 5 x 1390 harmonic of KCRC Enid,
intermittently hitting S9+20/30 on two different antennas, much
stronger than usual JBA here a couple miles from site. In such a
situation might be DXable, sports format unlikely to be mistaken for
genuine pirate. Also always audible on 2980, 4170, JBA 5560. 6950
behaving the same 24 hours later on May 6 at 2223, S9+20 peaks (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 13580, May 6 at 2218, weak S9, undermodulated? in English.
EiBi shows it`s RRI Tsiganeshti to Far East this hour. BTW, the T has
a cedilla under it making it sound TS, and the S too making it SH.
Everyone else seems to ignore this, misspelling it simply TIGANESTI
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715 S9+10 // 15520 S9/+20 // 15500 S9+30 and still no
signal on 15390, May 6 at 2200, REE with timesignal and Spanish PSA
about how expats may vote in the May 17 Andalucía elexion; 2201 open
token English on Wednesdays only, ``live`` [not] from studio in Madrid
radio house. Daniel of the extremely heavy accent and Alba lighter
accent at breakneck pace to make the most of only one hour a week,
with continuous irrelevant musical background. Preview some topix:
difficulties of journalism in East Africa; National Gallery in London
to feature Velásquez and two other XVII century Spanish artists. 2203
news summary, leading with the hantavirus cruise ship which is heading
from Cabo Verde to Tenerife in Canarias, as Spanish government says
it`s their moral responsibility to handle the situation, unlike the
Canary governor(?) who does not welcome them; and the campaign in
Andalucía... (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, May 5 at 2158, VOT IS & ID, not off the air,
S9+10/20 stronger than usual direct and almost equal 11780 Brasil.
Again May 6 at 2158, slightly weaker S9/+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 17790, May 6 at 2206, a problem with this WRMI transmitter;
S9 but somewhat suptorted and carrier wobbling for RTI in Spanish, and
hardly above the noise level. While // 15770 is S9+20/30 and VG (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15180.51, May 5 at 2202, weak carrier, seems open, and
fading so unlikely local. But no broadcaster listed on 15180 now in
Aoki, EiBi or HFCC. At 2303 into Georgia SDR, an inaudible and
invisible carrier at 15180 synched at +240v Hz (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Weak pulses every 32 kHz, May 6 at 2215, traced on
15280, 15312, 15344, 15476, 15408, 15440, 15472; until 2216 when they
paused. Also had a string below 15100 a few minutes earlier. Maybe
something local, but never had anything like this before (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
