** GERMANY. 13725-13730-13735 DRM, Thu Apr 24 at 1850, DRM noise direct. Checking remotes in Qatar, Kuwait only get sporadic music, but displayed as Music for Joy, which EiBi shows: ``13730 1800-1900 Tu,Th D Music 4 Joy DIGITAL EAf n``, i.e. only two hours per week and this is one of them, via Nauen site; and off at 1900*. KiwiSDR embedded DRM sked shows on 13730 only CNR1 Global Tests, not at this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** JAPAN. ``Hi Glenn, Regarding the QTH of JG1IGX (your log 'JAPAN. 28430 USB, Apr 23 at 2207'), I heard him before on FT8 giving the 'PM96' locator as QTH. FT8 only gives 4 chars/digits of precision. Since such a grid is relatively wide, I usually consider the approximate center (which is the closest spot from all possible locations within - theoretically, in terms of probability).
But I should have consulted the web first: his location is precisely given on qrzcq.com, as PM96ob, which is some 66 km NW of Tokyo, or 10 megameters from Enid OK, in the Saitama Prefecture, see attachment. 73s Thanks Glenn and Best Wishes, Tobias`` Germany (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785.007+, Apr 24 at 2238, VOT not off the air, huge S9+60 into UTwente; during WOR produxion I only look, not listen (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2292)
** U S A. OCB STATUS Update: 4/24/25. OCB Studio Miami: Open with only 30-35 employee personnel inside building. Newscast: Now LIVE from Miami on hourly schedule. Programming Content Produced is only around 30% of airtime. More time will be added at later date. MW 1180 KHz Marathon at 100 Kw (Full Transmitter Output). On-Air 24 Hours per day
OCB SW Site-B Greenville, NC - A/C is on in building 24/7 and transmitter pumps are on - waiting power-up schedule. Some staff members are on site daily. Melvin Eleazer, Marathon`` (via Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2292)

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public service program: thanks for a generous contribution from Dan Sheedy, Encinitas, California, ``Hey Glenn, ¡Feliz cumple-whosis? Here`s $ $ for World of Radio and big thanx 2 ya for all your efforts keeping DX info up 2 date [sparse as it is, sometimes] - Cheers from the beach, Dan -- PS stay safe, strong & may we all survive `25!`` - to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

** U S A. 15150, April 24 at 1427, WMLK at S9+20 direct but NO spurs for a change every 4 kHz above and below (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 750, April 24 at 0605 UT, Spanish gospel music covering WSB, so KMMJ Grand Island NE still refusing to stay off during the Atlantan night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. ``Glenn, to clarify what is going on with KGBC 1540:
KGBC in Galveston is the nominal “originating station” for K287BQ 105.3 in Houston, running a Spanish language Tropical format “Power 105.3”. Both signals are leased by the programmers of the “Power” format.
KTWL 105.3 runs a Texas Country format. There is no actual connection between them and KGBC or K287BQ or the “Power” format. Those behind the “Power” format unsuccessfully attempted to buy KTWL a few years ago, and have claimed it as an originating station, which is not the case. There is also no connection with KKBQ or any of its subchannels; the KKBQ HD-3 runs a “Red Dirt Country” format. The “Power” legal ID is mostly fiction.
This is Houston, well known for various shenanigans among translator and LPFM operators. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** YEMEN [non]. 11935v, Apr 24 at 1635-1645, Republic of Yemen Radio via SAUDI ARABIA missing, no signal into UTwente, following this from Zacharias Liangas: ``Just 1056 checked 11935 starting from Addis Ababa Riyadh and Cyprus kSDR with no signal for the Yemeni station also and after 11z`` Then I check former frequencies into UTwente: 11915 ex-11820, ex-11860, and not there either or something else now. Then I make cursory check of every frequency 11700-12000 and still no ROYR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2292)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9119-9164 approx., Apr 24 at 0622, multi-carrier, multi-tones beating over this range, S9+18 amid, like 24 hours earlier 9176-9224. What is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Thursday, April 24 2025
** CHINA. 15785, Apr 23 at 0317, JBA algo; anything now above 15770 WRMI attracts attn - EiBi shows CRI English to Siberia [!] at 0300-0500 from Xi`an site. Only a few other JBA signals on the entire 19m band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** JAPAN. 28430 USB, Apr 23 at 2207, JG1IGX uttering nothing but call fonetikaly a dozen times. QRZ.com: ``JG1IGX Japan flag Japan, MINORU SAKURAI (JARL member), JARL QSL BUREAU, 1324-3 KANBA, HIKAWA, IZUMO 699-0588, Japan`` - but where is he really? Also had a JH1 calling on same frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500 S9+20/30, 15520 S9+10, 15390 S9 = noise level, 17715 no signal, nor at 2245 into UTwente, Wed Apr 23 at 2200, token English from SNR, preview topic about a bookstore; news about pope funeral, king & queen of Spain to attend but not the PM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785, Apr 23 at 2158, 2201, 2219, NO signal from VOT direct. Nor at 2241 into UTwente when there`s else weak on 9874.911 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2291 monitoring: `` Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, From the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF (30 years of service), Antenna: random long wires in the trees. WRMI, USA, World of Radio #2291:

9395 kHz, QRN, no voice heard, S5 signal, empty signal, 2359, April 22 UTC 2025 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB)``
Confirmed Tuesday April 22 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into Georgia SDR.
Also confirmed Tuesday April 22 at 2330 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S9/+10 into UTwente. Yes, 2291. SWR explans that playout for the other transmitter, 6160 had not been updated from 2290.
Also confirmed Wednesday April 23 at 1930 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S9/+5 into UTwente, but 6160+ unchecked.
Also confirmed Wednesday April 23 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -77 Hz, S7/9+5 into Maryland SDR; via NH SDR, -115 Hz, S9+10, but without checking I think its calibration be askew. Yes, at 2322, W1NT shows 7850 -40 Hz, 10000 -50 Hz, 15000 -76 Hz. Next:
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public service program: thanks for a generous contribution via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com from Peter Robinson, Preston, UK.
One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9930, Apr 23 at 2216 and earlier chex, this WTWW is off, instead of TOMBSing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9955, Apr 23 at 0600, no signal from this WRMI, must be unusually off, since 9395 is S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1539.96 approx., Apr 23 at 0330 UT, pronounced het to 1540.0 KXEL or whatever; surely KGBC Galveston which is often, but not always, so off-frequency. At 0332 I get a partial ID in Spanish mentioning 105.3. Then I do the usual searches in the NRC AM Log, the WTFDA FM Database, radio-locator, and even a broad websearch without finding *any* correlation of those two frequencies in the USA or Mexico in Spanish or even English. Finally I search the IRCA DX Monitor archive, and there it is in the loggings of the Jan 18, 2025 issue:
``1540 KGBC TX, Galveston – 1/9 0701 [EST = 1201 UT] noted w/legal ID with KTWI 105.3 Hempstead, TX and “Real Power 105.3” slogan IDs. No other mentions of 1540 or KGBC; slogan IDs heard again at 2002, heard in fades of KXEL. (RWK-IL) Rick Wiegmann Koshko (KO5HKO), Ottawa IL dxi@koshko.com C Crane CCRadio 2, General Electric 7-4100JA``
``+ 1/9 0724 [1224 UT] noted w/Adult Contemporary format, mention of 105.3 FM in Spanish. A fair signal was heard over KEDA, KXEL; ACI from WCKY 1530. (EB-MO) Eric Bueneman, (NØUIH), Hazelwood MO, General Electric Superadio III, Terk Advantage loop``
Isn`t it about time the major references caught up with this? Hold it: Per the WTFDA FM Database, KTWI-LP is on 94.3 in Liberal KS! The 105.3 in TX is really KTWL: hard to mistake L for I in a spoken ID. Could station axually be announcing wrong call? It can happen, like with K17JN in Enid visually calling itself K17JI. To add to confusion, two pertinent entries, neither shown with any connexion to 1540- KGBC!:
KTWL 105.3 TODD MISSION TX 8.0 8.0 148.0 148.0 30-20-20 95-55-45 4473 KTWL-FM 105.3 Hempstead / Todd Mission / Houston Country COUNTRY TEXAS MIX 105.3 RDS off 5/25/24 21204
K287BQ 105.3 HOUSTON TX 0.099 0.0 0.0 0.0 29-45-31 95-22-04 Spanish 0000 Power FM Public SPANISH HITS POWER 105.3 Overpowered and originating programming. IDs as KKBQ HD3 & KTWL 148244
Todd Mission not in my atlases, but Hempstead is a considerable distance NW of Houston, on the `wrong` opposite side from Galveston to the SE. These two 105.3s are about half a degree apart by latitude and longitude (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VANUATU. 9960, Apr 23 at 0600, JBA carrier from R. Vanuatu, while 9955 WRMI is AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9176-9224 approx., April 23 at 0602, wideband multi-carrier, multi-tones beating, S9+15 amid at 9200. Also heard often before around here and elsewhere such as circa 17450. What is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Our informant reports:
``The court has said that effective today the VOA/Marti/RFA will resume broadcasting. The court also said the USAGM must file a report monthly stating how the original goals of the VOA are being met (like the old days). Meaning the original charter. When the broadcasting resumes on shortwave, I don`t know exactly.
I heard that Kuwait had got three new transmitters from Ampegon, power unknown. Greenville has received one 100 kW transmitter by Continental, I think. It was one that was never installed and was in storage for years. This will replace the AEG 500 kW rig, GB8. Macon Dail is still the only breathing inhabitant (except for a few mice and some snakes) at the station at this time.`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. 5890, Tue Apr 22 at 0542, this WWCR is on again contrary to sked, S9+45 with TOMBS like on 5850 WRMI. They hardly need both. Also leaping over the other WWCR 5935, for a mixing product on 5980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9980, Apr 22 at 2210, this WWCR with TOMBS is S9+50 like 9930 WWTW; and WWCR is also putting out spurs at least 9970/9990; squealing mars 9980 itself (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9910/9950, Apr 22 at 2208, approx range of splatter from 9930 WTWW with TOMBS, which is S9+50. Also with discrete parasitic spurs circa 9917.1 and 9942.9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VENEZUELA. 28451 USB, Apr 22 at 2216, CQ DX, QRZ, working USA stations is Pedro, YV5PD. QRZ.com: ``YV9PD Venezuela flag Venezuela, PEDRO DA COSTA, PTO AYACUCHO, AMAZONAS, Venezuela`` unaware of QRM from weaker unID on 28450 USB, Anthony, 250 watts in Spanish, English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 810.50, Apr 22 at 0607 UT, mystery JBA carrier hetting 810 WHB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1590, Apr 22 past 0630+ UT, gospel music in Spanish. Most likely in NRC AM Log: WCGO Evanston IL, or KMIC Houston TX. WCGO is Brokered/ETH/SS, U2 10/2.5 kW, nothing found about Spanish. KMIC is/was R. Aleluya, U2 5/5 kW, but now appears to be Asian, R. Dabang. Not to be confused with R. Dabanga, the SW target broadcast to Sudan! Neither provides a plain old program schedule (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ARGENTINA. 28485.13 USB, oddly split frequency, April 21 at 2220, Marc, LU1JHD, says he is 400 km north of Buenos Aires, working US stations. QRZ.com: ``LU1JHD Argentina flag Argentina, MARCELO MARIANO ITZCOVICH (MARC), BLAS PARERA 128 (EL MARTILLO), CONCORDIA, ER, C.P. 3200, Argentina`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. 28270.4 CW, April 21 at 2215, dash and VVV PY4MAB, one of few beacons audible now, but this is the time for deep South America. QRZ.com: ``PY4MAB Brazil flag Brazil, MAURICIO BERALDO, LUIZ ZANGIACOMI 145, POÇOS DE CALDAS MG ZIP CODE 37704-274, MG, Brazil --- I have a Radio Beacon on the frequency of 28.270.4 CW, 24 hours a day, vertical antenna, 10 watts of power. In 2025 it will be 15 years since Beacon is on the air. Whoever receives the signals and sends me a confirmation by letter I will respond to everyone and send a special QSL card from my city.`` Has a huge gallery of photos of equipment, city, wildlife (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6000, Apr 21 at 0355, RHC S9+25/30 but JBM, can`t be positive it`s English. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 9790, Apr 21 at 0347, CRI relay is S9+40 but extremely sup/torted English, unlistenable. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500 VG S9+20/30, 15520 weaker but suffish, 15390 weaker still, but 17715 for SAm is JBA carrier unlike usual second-best, token English Monday Apr 21 at 2211 check, interview with someone who runs a bilingual bookstore (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9875.002, Sun Apr 20 at 2046, tune-in to VOT English, S9+25 backward into UTwente, some splatter from plus side tho nothing sked on 9880; but `Letterbox` is already in progress. Hostess talking about an antenna problem at Emirler accounting for irregular operation. Not recording, and hard to understand every word anyway, but we need to know exactly what she said about this. Did anyone get it? Attempting to enumerate the listeners called: 1) Francis, Ireland. 2) Mohammed, Malaysia. 3) Alan Holder, UK - spends a lot of time with and very glad to hear from him, long-time listener, since 1970? And he will be 70 next month. He wonders if 11785 problem may be due to maintenance, or shift changes. She says shift change is at 0200? or 0300? local time probably. 2055 pause for a song, from the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest. 2059, 4) Spain reports a wrong frequency but will forward to QSL dept. anyway. 5) Alejandro Vázquez? publicizing this year`s Mexican Encuentro DX, Aug 1-2 in Oaxaca City. 6) Hiroshima, Japan, discussing 200 varieties of cherry blossoms. 2107 wrapup with contact info, 2108 song, tune-out.
11785.025-, Sun Apr 20 at 2200, no signal into UTwente, but chops on at *2203 open carrier at S9+30; 2204 plays two-minute multi-lingual ID filler reel, so no olds. 2206 already into `The Pulse of Turkey`s Foreign Policy`, about Iran, yawn. I should have stayed on it for early start also of `Lbox` repeat, but not back to it until 2232 as it`s about to end. 2254 s/off as if it`s 1230 on 17620, always awry at Ankara, IS to 2255.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 7275, UT Mon Apr 21 at 0301, NO signal from VOT English for North America, nor on 6165 to Asia, but *0305, 7275.003+ chops on, S9+25/40 into UTwente, and weaker 6165.005- is also on as they JIP the 2-minute multi-lingual ID filler reel instead of any olds, just like the 2200 broadcast. 6165 has some RTTYditty QRM, probably on 6164. 0306 starts `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`, about the ``Iranian Kurds`` I think tho sounds a lot like ``Iranian Turx``. 0315 `The Letterbox Program` starts with new frequencies especially for listeners in America are a bit of a ``menace``. Ricky Hein, SD, called thrice that 11785 and 6165 are not funxioning properly and signal not reliable at all, 11785 SINPO 15111, and all-twos? in 6165 [of course 6165 is not toward NAm unlike ex-6125 at 0400 in B season]. Alan Holder also says 11785 has been missing some Sunday transmissions. Asked the Emirler staff and they said the antenna for American continent is out of use, and the replacement antenna is not working as it should. Rain prevents trux from moving around the ground for repairs, and afraid it will not improve very quickly. This time I recorded the opening via UTwente, and that helped to quote her accurately. Well, *when* they are on, 11785 and 7275 seem to be plenty strong as if with a proper antenna.
Alan Holder also replies: ``Hi Glenn, My recent e-mail was featured on "Letterbox" yesterday and since I always keep recordings of such events, I am sending these on to you. The presenter read out my message in full. The lady now regularly hosting the show is Seher Cemre Turan. She appears to prefer to be called by her middle name. Only recently did I find out that in Turkish, the letter 'c' is pronounced 'j' (as in John). Therefore it's "Jemre" with the stress on the Jem.
So it seems that the North America antenna is only a temporary affair. The original may have been damaged by bad weather and must have collapsed. The irregularity of the 2200 UT broadcast cannot be wholly explained by the use of the temporary antenna. Also, the 2030 broadcast on a different antenna is off air on some days, as you know.
I checked some time ago and at 2200, only one transmitter appears to be in use. All five units are on air at one point in the daytime (including the one jamming Dengê Gel until 1600). I reckon they reserve late night hours local time for transmitter maintenance. Wolfgang Bueschel also pointed out that some HFCC listings for TRT include 300 kW power, which means that they have (or will) install a new transmitter at Emirler. {WRTH says they already have 5 x 500 kW}
By the way, I remember the situation at Kol Yisrael's Yavne site when one of their curtain antennas was damaged by severe gale force winds back in 2002. The antenna was in place but some of the elements were broken. They had to hire a mobile crane with a reach of 100 metres and it was about a nine month wait before repairs could be done. Only then was the ground solid enough to support the crane (and this in Israel's relatively dry climate). If the thing toppled over, you can imagine the damage that would result.
Belated best wishes to you on your 80th birthday, Glenn. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW Xmtr update? Hi George, A while since I`ve heard from you. Ricky Hein says you got the part from China, so is 5085/9475 about to come back? I`ve also been wondering if you have been changing transmitters on 9930/5920, due to some differing characteristics. Like the parasitic spurs +/- 12.9 kHz which used to flank 5085 have been showing next to 9930 --- but not tonight. 73, Glenn``
``Glenn, Tube is in but transmitter driver is overloaded. Working on it with our Continental consultant. George McClintock 4-20-2025`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9955, Apr 21 at 0349, S9+15 of dead air from WRMI; by next check 0408, TOMBS is undermodulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7505, Apr 21 at 0351, WRNO in presumed Hindi, S9+25/40. You never know whether will be on air or not; I think they were not by nominal *0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9259/9263/9267/9271; 9279/9283/9287/9291, April 21 at 0343, squealing spurs at ~4 kHz intervals out of strong fundamental 9275 of WMLK, weakest at the edges, but framing 9265 WINB on both sides, neighbor in more ways than one. Also heard similar galaxy out of third frequency 17525, March 7-8. And around 15150 later April 21, q.v. Yahweh needs to clean their act up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 15130/15134/15138/15142/15146; 15154/15158/15162/15166, April 21 at 1449, WMLK is only S9+5 on fundamental 15150, but accompanied by all these unstable spurs at ~4 kHz intervals, weakening the further out they go. Same surrounded 9275 April 18 at 0343, q.v. And around third frequency 17525, March 7-8. Something`s botched up at Bethel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 790, Apr 21 at 0459 UT, surprised to hear an ID for 93.9 and 680, CJOB - double take, am I tuned to 680? NO. Then a 92.9 ESPN/WMC Memphis ID. Not necessarily both from same station as there is a lot of CCI on 790. There are *no* Canadians at all on 790. I guess some unknown USA program/net must have mentioned CJOB. I don`t find any 93.9 in connexion with it. 92.9 does not correlate with WMC 790 either, but I find that WMFS 680 & 92.9 is a ``sister station`` to WMC. Hmmm (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
