Glenn Hauser logs July 25-26, 2025  View Printable Version
Saturday, July 26 2025

Logs
** CANADA [non]. 6160 -74 Hz = 6159.924, July 26 at 0000 this WBCQ has
cut on with ambient music, Morse Code, numbers in English and later
German, i.e. `Requiem for Radio`, Amanda Dawn Christie`s opus
scheduled for this hour but unknown frequency of WBCQ and WWCR. Never
found this time on WWCR, despite checking all known frequencies, even
at wrong hours, and even those registered only imaginarily.

I quickly check out the others which were publicized: WRMI 17790 is
JBA but I hear some mentions of RCI; 15770 is VG S9+10/15 into NH SDR
so I keep listening mainly there. 15290 via TDF Issoudun FRANCE puts a
VG S9+20/30 signal into NH, presumably aimed thataway, but initially
seems JBM if not OC. Later it`s louder and certainly also RfR = which
is supposed to be on 5 different transmitters at once, with 5
different audios, so to properly experience it, one needs five radios
with good reception and 5 speakers spaced around one?

At 0058, 15290 cuts to the Cuban national anthem, and R. República ID,
oops! until 0059* - that of course being on the RMI feed to ISS for
the 9490 broadcast at 0100. After that, however, 15290 still has a
weaker hummy carrier. At 0100, 6160 plays the IRA ad like we hear
infesting the WWCR stream openings, but it`s certainly WBCQ, and into
Hal Turner. RfR was during the same hour as `AAAWWW` on WBCQ 7490 &
9330 which fortunately turned out to be a repeat.

See my previous report for more details about `Requiem for Radio`,
from WRMI FB, which showed the next and apparently final broadcast as
2000-2100 UT Sat July 26: 15770 (WRMI), 9395 (WRMI), 21600 (TDF); and
probably 9980 (WWCR), but where on WBCQ? Since ADC put so much effort
into this project, it`s a shame she did not clue us all in advance
about the details (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13780.00, July 25 at 2345, RHC S7/9+10 with music into
UTwente and good modulation. At 2359 RHC IS, VG into Maryland SDR and
off shortly after. Now this remote reads 66/67 Hz high, since WWV
15000 also looks likewise.

13780, July 26 at 1441, RHC Spanish, S7 into Maryland SDR, but at 1444
JBA carrier direct.

26 de julio: time for my annual tribute to The Revolution, parody of
their favorite slogan; again I invite photographic evidence of this
being scrawled on any public surface, however briefly, inside Cuba:

PATRIA O SUERTE, ¡PENSAREMOS! which could be loosely translated,
``Fatherland or Fortune, we`ll think about it!`` i.e., get out of here
for a better life (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, July 26 at 1510 UT, still NO signal from K17JN-D,
the 3ABN satellator, Enid`s only local TV signal. First noted missing
on June 11, a sesquimonth ago. Rabbitears.info still does not X this
as off the air, unlike K32MG-D, the only other Enid entry, which I can
never recall seeing.

RF 20, July 26 at 1510 UT, the only BAD signal with slight tropo
enhancement, very likely KQCW-DT Muskogee, Tulsa market (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15520.001, Fri July 25 at 2156, REE S9+15/25 into UTwente
prior to token English; at 2200, 15500 is S9+5/22 into Maryland SDR.
No news, but right into feature about The Way of St James, some weird
religious trek the Spaniards engage in. I listen no further (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.024+, July 25 at 2156, VOT into UTwente, dead air at
S9+40/45. By next check 2200, is modulating but tone QRM of about 1
kHz; seems to be on both USB and LSB, so not QRM; and same thing heard
into Maryland SDR. Therefore, it`s a transmission, not reception
defect. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. Reducing bandwidth
helped, but must reduce too far to diminish it. I listen no further,
altho it might have been possible to notch it out (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** UKOGBANI. 7350.000, July 26 at 1901, S9+35 from Woofferton into
UTwente, strange vocalizations by wide variety of human voices, bird
sounds, airplane roar. As in this info via Alan Pennington, BDXC UK
via Alan Roe:

``[WOR] Radio Love Warbler SW - Imminent at 1900 on 7350 via
Woofferton!
Radio Love Warbler will broadcast locally on 87.7 FM from a
transmitter hosted by the National Coastwatch Institution, Folkestone,
daily from dawn to dusk 19th July - 19th October 2025.

This is a project by British-Finnish artist Hanna Tuulikki: "What if a
bird could remix its own love song? Hanna Tuulikki’s Love (Warbler
Remix) brings this idea to life through the Marsh Warbler - a clever
migrating bird that copies and blends the songs it hears on its
journey."

The above website also shows shortwave broadcasts from Encompass
Woofferton (first tomorrow 26 July):

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2305 monitoring: missed checking

Checked later, 1323 was on the air, not 918.

Thanks for financial support this week from Peter Robinson, Preston
UK, a very generous contribution via PayPal, to woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, July 25 at 2216, WTWW is on, at 2218 into Maryland
SDR, it`s splattering a bit up to 9950 on the waterfall. 5085, July 25
at 0102, the other WTWW is on so prospects are good for WOR at 0300 UT
Saturday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Pre-`AAAWWW` WBCQ chex, July 25 at 2349 into NH
SDR: 3265 off. 5130 off. 6160 off but CRI English via Kashgar to S
Asia at 23-24 is poorly audible. 7490 -78 Hz = 7489.922 is S9+10/15
with FKB. 9330.00 with WLCR Portuguese is S6/S9. Just before *2356,
5130 -85 Hz = 5129.915 cuts on with IS & ID.

UT Sat July 16 at 0000, 5130- starts something else, presumably `The
Intelligence Report`, ex-6160. And 7490 is already in `WTO` theme of
`AAAWWW`, opening interjexion ``another day, another no-dollar``, so
it`s a repeat as expected of last week`s show as I reported in detail
then. Never mind. However, something else on 6160: see CANADA [non]!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)7

** U S A. 9980, July 25 at 2215, this WWCR-4 is on again with gospel
huxter, audible at Bonaire where I`ve just checked WOR on 9955. At
2217 into Maryland SDR, S9/+20 with praise music. Still supposed to be
totally off per program sked. It might have stayed on past 0000 for
Requiem for Radio, but did not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re: 1700, KKLF, stuck in a 16-second loop for hours and
hours:

``Glenn et al., These days many stations “local offices” do not exist.
In the case of KKLF their owner, who is Claro Communications, has the
address that you see in the AM Radio Log. You will notice in the next
edition that won’t change. The mailing address for all of the
corporate owners’ stations of religious broadcaster Relevant Radio is
listed at their corporate address in Lincolnshire, IL… Unfortunately,
that is the way it is these days, and it is not a “Joke” that we list
the best available contact for stations in these days of corporate
owned radio in America. 73, Wayne Heinen N0POH, Editor, NRC AM Radio
Log, Aurora, CO``

Wayne, the ``joke`` I meant was not about the address but the
``programming``. However an address 359 miles away suggests that there
is no one in The Metroplex responsible for keeping the station running
smoothly. Of course the same thing can happen totally locally (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
{My apologies for some hasty errors. Most lists bounce if there is no subject filled in so must resend to all -- gh}
** MEXICO. 739.95, July 25 at 0636 UT, LAH against 740.0 KRMG, no
doubt the usual XEQN, R. Fórmula, Torreón, Coahuila as in mwofsets on
739.947, ranging to 740.06 {not 730.06 typo in original report - but
I`ve never heard anyhet on the plus side} and supposedly off after
0600. It shows KRMG Tulsa on 740.0008 to .0010. On internal randomwire
around the ceilings after lightning storm. LAH = low audible
heterodyne (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 960, July 25 at 0633 & 0639 UT, dead air from KGWA Enid.
Probably interrupted by power failure during huge lightning storm a
few hours earlier. I should have checked what`s on their 100.9
translator (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A. 1240.19 kHz, July 25 at 0630 UT, het against 1240.0 pileup,
presumably the usual KCRT Trinidad CO, U1 250/250, which has been
off-frequency for many years, yet missing from:
https://mwlist.org/mwoffset.php?khz=1240
with lots & lots of other US graveyarders more slightly askew, but
nothing higher than Ecuador on 1240.15. This was on the inside
randomwire around the ceilings due to lightning. Getting a 100%
definite ID of KCRT would be helpful, such as tuning it nearby in the
daytime (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

9842-9885 & 9975-10006 approx. range, direct, splatter spurs
out of 9930 WTWW which is S9+50/60, also with the plus/minus 12.8 kHz

** U S A. 9980, WWCR-4 off the air per own sked, has been on, with
weird ambient music, with occasional Morse code and/or 5-digit numbers

WRMI will be participating in this special project, along with our
partner Telediffusion de France (TDF), and with WWCR in Tennessee and
WBCQ in Maine. Below are the UTC days, times and frequencies in kHz
where you can hear the broadcasts on WRMI and TDF. Note that there are
five separate audio tracks that are broadcast on five different
frequencies for each transmission. I'm sorry we don't have the exact
frequencies that WWCR and WBCQ will be using.

🎧 What RFR: FQF Actually Is --- A live performance, often staged in
art venues such as Ottawa’s National Arts Centre (July 23–26, 2025) or
Moncton, NB (June 5–6, 2025) IOTA Institute. It combines theremin,
sensors, bowed cow-bone cello, saxophone, and simultaneously tuned
shortwave radios from around the world      IOTA Institute amanda dawn

Notably, “Deviant Receptions” is one of five segments that is
transmitted via multiple shortwave stations live, but the Full Quiet
Flutter component itself isn’t a standalone radio broadcast

WWCR Involvement? After reviewing WWCR’s program schedule and
transmitter listings, there is no indication that World Wide Christian
Radio ever scheduled a
broadcast of Requiem for Radio or RFR: FQF

WWCR programming is focused on religious and talk shows — no arts or

``Special Series of broadcasts commemorating Radio Canada
International:
Requiem for Radio: Full Quiet Flutter (RFR: FQF) is a 60-minute live
performance for human bodies, electrons, and radio waves.
Architecture, technology, history, and the human body come together in
this near-supernatural conjuring of the spirits of the demolished
Radio Canada International (RCI) shortwave towers. Structured with
thirteen movements for the thirteen radio towers, the performance
follows the format of a traditional requiem, but for the RCI shortwave
site that was once located near the border of New Brunswick and Nova
Scotia from where it transmitted shortwave radio around the world from
1944 to 2012.

The performers on stage interact with an elaborate set of invented and
modified electronic instruments that use sensors, custom circuits, and
wireless technology to play the ghosts of the radio towers with radio
waves.

The largest of these invented instruments, taking up most of the
stage, is a scale model of the RCI site, in which each of the thirteen
towers is equipped with sensors, that when touched, trigger haunting
droning sounds that were recorded with contact microphones placed on
the actual RCI tower before the site was demolished. The thirteen
tower recordings are filtered to create the thirteen notes of a
chromatic scale, thus allowing the performers to play it like a
larger-than-life keyboard, simply by touching it with their skin.

This performance also involves a theremin sending control voltage to
trigger ghostly images of the towers and the sounds they once made, a
bowed instrument played with the bone of a cow that lived beneath the
RCI towers, a saxophone, a choir, shortwave radios, and transmissions
sent from five separate sites on different parts of the planet to be
mixed in real-time in the theatre.

While technological in nature, this performance remains one about
connection – between people, places, and the unseen forces that bind
us all.
