Hauser

** CHILE. 28433.065 approx. USB, Apr 25 at 2210, CE7VP in Chilean
Patagonia, making quick contacts with K2RLA and other US stations.
QRZ.com: ``CE7VP Chile flag Chile, Javier "Javi" Capdebilla A. P.O.
Box : 42, Quellón, Chiloé Island, 5790000, Chile``. Not much activity
on 10m, a few phones and no beacons (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Apr 25 at 1440, S5/S8 of dead air from RHC, where
something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUATEMALA. 24985 USB, Apr 25 at 2212, TG9AHM calling CQDX. QRZ.com:
``TG9AHM Guatemala flag Guatemala, EMMANUEL H. MIERES G. (Manny), 19
CALLE 10-38 ZONA 11 COL. MARISCAL, BOSQUES DE MARISCAL, CIUDAD DE
GUATEMALA 01011, Guatemala`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15520, Fri Apr 25 at 2200, token English from SNR missing
from the ME frequency, but VG S9+20/30 direct on 15500 for us, and
17715 S9+10/20 for S America, whilst 15390 for Africa is JBA. Preview
topic to be about careers for women in tech, a female IT engineer to
be interviewed. 2202 news leads about an ammo contract with an Israeli
company worth 6.6 megaeuro has been terminated since it violated
international regulations, vs genocide in Gaza. Second story: proposal
to reduce working hours per week from 40 to 37.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Apr 25 at 2157, VOT IS & ID, but inadequate vs local
noise level; slightly better on N/S interior shortwire S9+10/20 than on
E/W loop S9+10. At 2206 already playing music after olds. It has been
reported that VOT policy is NOT to cover news about Turkey! just
anywhere else (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2292 monitoring: confirmed first SW
BC, Friday April 25 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, S5 direct on indoor
randomwire after storms.

Also confirmed Friday April 25 at 2056 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM
Italia, 1322.995+, S8.5 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Friday April 25 at 2057 the 2030 on WRMI webcast.

Also confirmed Friday April 25 at 2218 the 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20
direct but undermodulated JBA.

Also confirmed Friday April 25 at 2242 the 2230 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003, S9/+5 into UTwente.

BTW, SW Radio now has a date-by-date program sked in CEST = UT+2, not
showing WORLD OF RADIO - but we know it`s always the second half of
the hour labeled CQ Serenade.
https://shortwaveradio.de/en/schedule_line_up

Not confirmed UT Sat Apr 26 at 0300 on WTWW 5085, which remains off
the air pending repairs; WTWW-2 stream is running with something
else.

NOT confirmed Sat Apr 26 at 0939 check when I happen to awaken, on
WRMI 9455, despite still shown on WRMI skedgrid. 9455 is OFF the air
at that hour. Initially after hurricane damage, some 9455 programming
was shifted to 7730, but now that frequency is unWOR too, JBA sounds
like TOMBS.

However, looking thru the supposedly updated WRMI skedgrid, I find a
NEW WOR time I was unaware of, Sat 2230 on 15770 & 7730, to be
confirmed!

Also confirmed Saturday April 26 at 1449 the 1430 on SW Radio Germany,
6160.001-, S9+5 into UTwente; and 3975 not on air yet.

Also confirmed Saturday April 26 at 1600 on WRN North America stream.
Next:

1730 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [1900/2100];

1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public
service program: thanks for a generous contribution from Dan Sheedy,
Encinitas, California, ``Hey Glenn, ¡Feliz cumple-whosis? Here`s $ $
for World of Radio and big thanx 2 ya for all your efforts keeping DX
info up 2 date [sparse as it is, sometimes] - Cheers from the beach,
Dan -- PS stay safe, strong & may we all survive `25!`` - to Glenn
Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, Apr 25 at 2219 and earlier chex, as well as on Apr 24,
WTWW OFF, and not found on any other frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` chex of WBCQs, Apr 25 at 2356 into NH SDR: 3265
off. 5130 S9/+10 already in IS & ID loop. 6160 else. 7490 S9+15/20.
9330 OFF at 2357, briefly presumably for antenna change. W1NT SDR is
still miscalibrated so I don`t try to get exact readings, e.g. it
shows 102 Hz low on WWV 20000, 50 Hz low on 10000 - I see a pattern,
and BTW gets the binary ticking from 9996 RWM.

Anyhow, but 0000 UT Sat Apr 26, 9330 is back on and joined by 7490 &
5130 for WTO and opening of `AAAWWW`. His first overwords are ``OK,
OK, OK, OK -- here we are, folx...`` Trimulcasting as I have observed.
Explains how details of music are not his thing, zones out when people
talk about performers, groups, etc, but does like certain music; not
much jazz, but blues is better. Angela also discusses. By 0009 I hear
``moonbats`` so I know they are into far-right politix, that`s enough.
Later something about Jason wanting to change format on their FM
station. 0020 a song they do like, `Riverboat Fantasy` which includes
some nasty words. 0024 datestamp. 0027 `Star Spangled Banner`
jazzed-up; Jimi? 0047 reading reception reports/email already (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15150, April 25 at 1442, WMLK is S9, but fails to accompany
itself with panoply of spurs at 4 kHz intervals as I heard before out
to 15130/15166, outdone by Wolfgang Bueschel who heard them from 15122
to 15178. Something`s not botched at Bethel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU [non]. 9960, Apr 26 at 0647, NO signal from RV, so another
schedule shuffle? Not audible either on 7260 or 3945 at 0650, but at
0652, JBA carrier on 7890, where 3945 used to accomplish a second
harmonic, since suppressed, and probably something else now. 9955 WRMI
is also off at 0647 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 869.62, Apr 25 at 0536 UT, carrier hetting 870, vs high
storm noise level on indoor randomwire. Unlike some other mysteries,
suspect this may be of household or neighborhood origin, never heard
before. But to note whether anybody else detect or I hear it again
under other circumstances - such as not heard in the daytime (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 15785, Apr 23 at 0317, JBA algo; anything now above 15770
WRMI attracts attn - EiBi shows CRI English to Siberia [!] at
0300-0500 from Xi`an site. Only a few other JBA signals on the entire
19m band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 28430 USB, Apr 23 at 2207, JG1IGX uttering nothing but call
fonetikaly a dozen times. QRZ.com: ``JG1IGX Japan flag Japan, MINORU
SAKURAI (JARL member), JARL QSL BUREAU, 1324-3 KANBA, HIKAWA, IZUMO
699-0588, Japan`` - but where is he really? Also had a JH1 calling on
same frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 15500 S9+20/30, 15520 S9+10, 15390 S9 = noise level, 17715
no signal, nor at 2245 into UTwente, Wed Apr 23 at 2200, token English
from SNR, preview topic about a bookstore; news about pope funeral,
king & queen of Spain to attend but not the PM (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Apr 23 at 2158, 2201, 2219, NO signal from VOT

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2291 monitoring: `` Richard Lemke,

long wires in the trees. WRMI, USA, World of Radio #2291:

9395 kHz, QRN, no voice heard, S5 signal, empty signal, 2359, April 22
UTC 2025 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed Tuesday April 22 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into Georgia
SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday April 22 at 2330 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002+, S9/+10 into UTwente. Yes, 2291. SWR explans that playout
for the other transmitter, 6160 had not been updated from 2290.

Also confirmed Wednesday April 23 at 1930 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002+, S9/+5 into UTwente, but 6160+ unchecked.

Also confirmed Wednesday April 23 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -77 Hz, S7/9+5
into Maryland SDR; via NH SDR, -115 Hz, S9+10, but without checking I
think its calibration be askew. Yes, at 2322, W1NT shows 7850 -40 Hz,
10000 -50 Hz, 15000 -76 Hz. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public
service program: thanks for a generous contribution via PayPal, not

Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, Apr 23 at 2216 and earlier chex, this WTWW is off,
instead of TOMBSing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Apr 23 at 0600, no signal from this WRMI, must be
unusually off, since 9395 is S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1539.96 approx., Apr 23 at 0330 UT, pronounced het to 1540.0
KXEL or whatever; surely KGBC Galveston which is often, but not
always, so off-frequency. At 0332 I get a partial ID in Spanish
mentioning 105.3. Then I do the usual searches in the NRC AM Log, the
WTFDA FM Database, radio-locator, and even a broad websearch without
finding *any* correlation of those two frequencies in the USA or
Mexico in Spanish or even English. Finally I search the IRCA DX
Monitor archive, and there it is in the loggings of the Jan 18, 2025
issue:

``1540 KGBC TX, Galveston – 1/9 0701 [EST = 1201 UT] noted w/legal ID
with KTWI 105.3 Hempstead, TX and “Real Power 105.3” slogan IDs. No
other mentions of 1540 or KGBC; slogan IDs heard again at 2002, heard
in fades of KXEL. (RWK-IL) Rick Wiegmann Koshko (KO5HKO), Ottawa IL
dxi@koshko.com  C Crane CCRadio 2, General Electric 7-4100JA``

``+ 1/9 0724 [1224 UT] noted w/Adult Contemporary format, mention of
105.3 FM in Spanish. A fair signal was heard over KEDA, KXEL; ACI from
WCKY 1530. (EB-MO) Eric Bueneman, (NØUIH), Hazelwood MO, General
Electric Superadio III, Terk Advantage loop``

Isn`t it about time the major references caught up with this? Hold it:
Per the WTFDA FM Database, KTWI-LP is on 94.3 in Liberal KS! The 105.3
in TX is really KTWL: hard to mistake L for I in a spoken ID. Could
station axually be announcing wrong call? It can happen, like with
K17JN in Enid visually calling itself K17JI. To add to confusion, two
pertinent entries, neither shown with any connexion to 1540- KGBC!:

KTWL 105.3 TODD MISSION TX 8.0 8.0 148.0 148.0 30-20-20 95-55-45 4473
KTWL-FM 105.3 Hempstead / Todd Mission / Houston     Country COUNTRY
TEXAS MIX 105.3 RDS off 5/25/24 21204

K287BQ 105.3 HOUSTON TX 0.099 0.0 0.0 0.0 29-45-31 95-22-04 Spanish
0000 Power FM Public SPANISH HITS POWER 105.3 Overpowered and
originating programming. IDs as KKBQ HD3 & KTWL 148244

Todd Mission not in my atlases, but Hempstead is a considerable
distance NW of Houston, on the `wrong` opposite side from Galveston to
the SE. These two 105.3s are about half a degree apart by latitude and
longitude (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Apr 23 at 0600, JBA carrier from R. Vanuatu, while
9955 WRMI is AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9176-9224 approx., April 23 at 0602, wideband
multi-carrier, multi-tones beating, S9+15 amid at 9200. Also heard
often before around here and elsewhere such as circa 17450. What is
this? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Our informant reports:

``The court has said that effective today the VOA/Marti/RFA will
resume broadcasting. The court also said the USAGM must file a report
monthly stating how the original goals of the VOA are being met (like
the old days). Meaning the original charter. When the broadcasting
resumes on shortwave, I don`t know exactly.

I heard that Kuwait had got three new transmitters from Ampegon, power
unknown. Greenville has received one 100 kW transmitter by
Continental, I think. It was one that was never installed and was in
storage for years. This will replace the AEG 500 kW rig, GB8. Macon
Dail is still the only breathing inhabitant (except for a few mice and
some snakes) at the station at this time.`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. 9980, Apr 22 at 2210, this WWCR with TOMBS is S9+50 like
