Friday, April 04 2025
** BRAZIL. 11780, April 4 at 0147, checking RNA via local ``Brasila`` SDR, again tonight no sign of English/Spanish, but another stupid ballgame well past 0200, without apology. Richard Langley also observes: ``And tonight (4 April UTC), I'm hearing what is presumably Deportivo Táchira (Venezuela) vs. Flamengo (Brazil). So, again no English/Spanish. Not sure how long these cup matches are going on at least with Brazilian teams. Looks like after tonight, they take a break until 8 April (local date) according to the CONMEBOL Libertadores schedule. Wikipedia tells us "The CONMEBOL Libertadores, also known as Copa Libertadores de América is an annual continental club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960." And "The tournament is named after the Libertadores (Spanish and Portuguese for liberators), the leaders of the Latin American wars of independence." 11780 kHz stayed on the air past the end of the game tonight. Was still on at 0230 UT -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 1180, April 4 at 0408 UT, trying to detect whether R. Martí be on from Marathon FL, checking three S Florida SDRs, music from R. Rebelde dominates // 5025, but there is QRM from something on 1180. RM is so direxional that even in Miami area it`s hard to hear. Around Tulsa there is also `jamming` from KOTV 1170 IBOC noise peaking 1183 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUAM. 15680, April 4 at 1530, S Asian language and music, S6/S8. HFCC shows KSDA, 100 kW at 285 degrees going from Kannada to Telugu during 1500-1600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NEW ZEALAND. 17675, April 4 at 0547, RNZP is VG S9/+15; not only the only station on this band, but virtually nothing to be heard on the 15 and 13 MHz bands! K index at 0600 was 4.00 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 92.1, April 4 at 2045 UT on caradio, ``Heart & Soul 92.1 and 1140 AM``, translator K221FQ in OKC of KRMP 1140, fairly audible tho weaker than 95.3 KOKC translator. Listed 99 watts at 0 HAAT (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 11960, April 4 at 0550, RRI English is the SSOB S8/9. It`s 300 kW, 300 degrees from Galbeni for CIRAF 27 = W Europe but also USward. This 0530 broadcast replaces the 0630 on 11930 in B24 season, which also came in well despite Cuban jamming against nothing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. USAGM situation, as of April 4, from a reliable source: OCB may resume broadcasting SW from Greenville to Cuba, but nothing else on the air, with those in overall charge of engineering and transmission dismissed. It`s unlikely that the previous arrangement could be resumed in any reasonable length of time even if authorized. The Tajikistan relays ended on April 1, also the FEBC Seoul and Jeju MW transmitters, and the Djibouti 1431 kHz relay. These were funded on a quarterly basis and DOGE would not allow them for another quarter. RFA transmissions via the two SW sites of R Taiwan International have continued; as have Radio Liberty Russian via Radio Baltic Waves, Lithuania on 1386 kHz, but we don`t know for how much longer. WRMI has on schedule R. Liberty in Russian on 15770 with System K, Mon-Sat at 0400-0430, or is it -0500? per sked, with something called Voice of Russia, Sundays at 0400-0430. RL via WRMI is presumably at WRMI`s initiative, unofficial. This could continue if any programming feed remains available. Russia, China, Iran could not get rid of broadcasts from USA, but Trump succeeded in only a few weeks (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2289 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, Friday April 4 at 1310 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, S7/S8. Confirmed Friday April 4 at 2057 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.996-, S9+5 into UTwente. Next: 2200 UT Friday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2230 UT Friday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0300 UT Saturday WTWW 5085 [irregular]; 0930 UT Saturday WRMI 9455 to WNW [has been off air; or 7730]; 1430 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1730 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [1900/2100]; 2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475 [suspended]; 0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400]; 1030 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1900 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW and/or 7780 to SW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0830 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public service program: thanks for a contribution via check on a US bank from Moises Corilloclla, Rego Park NY, to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7780, April 4 at 0553, this WRMI is off again despite sked, while a buzzy sound surrounds 7778. At 0558 check, 5010 WRMI is also off again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9839-9853 approx., peaking circa 9848 at S9+15, April 4 at 1540, extremely distorted talk, matching 9930 WTWW with TOMBS on another receiver, not matching 9980 WWCR TOMBS, never synchronized (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13845, April 4 at 1534, WWCR is JBA here but blasting in on 12160 S9+35, 9980 at S9+50 - a clear MUF sharpoff circa 13 MHz, unless 13845 be underpowered. Yes, this WWCR back on air today, as was 4840 at night, both absent the previous date (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15150, April 4 at 1543, WMLK is off, unlike yesterday. Could they be working on fixing the galaxy of spurs every 4 kHz we heard yesterday? Fat chance, and it`s not even Sabbath yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 4 at 0552, R. Vanuatu already JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2111 UT April 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** BRAZIL. 11780, April 3 at 0148, RNA with hyperenthusiastic coverage of a stupid ballgame; don`t hear any crowd noise, so is this live or a recap. Rather late at night to be live. Keeps mentioning Botafogo, which is the big ``fireboot`` Rio soccer team. This keeps going past 0200 instead of new token English/Spanish 0150-0200 which we did hear the previous two nights. So now we know how serious they were about that!
Richard Langley also reports: ``Based on a few words I heard/translated, perhaps it was Chile's Universidad de Chile against Brazil's Botafogo at National Stadium in Santiago, Chile for a Copa Libertadores Group A soccer match. And off at 0208 UT. Too bad if you wanted to listen to the whole game on SW`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2289) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 17735, April 3 at 1447, JBA carrier is OOFSOB. EiBi shows CRI Mandarin to Europe via Kashgar. 15590, April 3 at 1454, CRI English via Urumqi discussing blueberry mania, S9+15/20 the SSOB except for 15150 WMLK. From the land of imperialist ChiCom cultural genocide against Uighurs and other Moslems (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 89.1, April 3 around 1935 UT, listening to some $ tereo music while dozing, Christian but tolerably instrumental, until DJ says he is from WOFM in Canton - something ?? The real WOFM is on 89.1 but in Alcoa TN with Air 1, no known connexion to Oasis Network originating with KNYD 90.5 Tulsa, here via Enid translator K206CA. This local quality signal was surely not DX from TN altho possible by Es if K206CA were off. There is also a Canton in OK with no stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 15500, April 3 at 2130 check, RNE 15500 for NAm is still OFF, but 15390 for Af is back on JBA; 17715 SAm and 15520 ME are sufficient but no English on Thursdays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2289) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2288 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday April 3 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S9+10/25 with storm crashes into Georgia SDR; preceded at 0128 by mentions of R. República, drumming, extraneous? RR not really scheduled then. Also some intermittent CCI, maybe from SDR overload. Also confirmed Thursday April 3 at 1652 on SW Radio, Germany, 6160.001+, S7/9+12 into UTwente, and 3975 not yet on. WORLD OF RADIO 2289 contents: A25 schedule sources; (Algeria), Australia, Belize, Brasil, Canada, (Czechia), (France), Germany, Indonesia, Korea South non, México, Morocco and non, Myanmar, North America, Romania, Russia, (Slovenia), Spain, (Taiwan), Turkey, UK and non, USA and non, (Western Sahara); ATSC 3.0 transition; 44 MHz unID; SWL Fest; propagation outlook - (countries mentioned along with others out of order) WOR 2289 available from 0048 UT Friday April 4 (mp3 stream) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2289.m3u (mp3 download) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2289.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public service program: thanks for a contribution via check on a US bank from Moises Corilloclla, Rego Park NY, to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and says, ``Hello, Glenn, I wanted to thank you for the nice mentions on your recent World of Radio programs, and I look forward to bringing new or interesting things that I may find while scanning the bands (altho that is quite small considering the years you have been DXing). I plan to visit Peru this year as well, and I hope I can provide a bandscan of other areas or cities, if I happen to travel around. Wish you the best, Moises Corilloclla`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7780, April 3 at 0632, this WRMI-13 is OFF. and at 0635, so is 5010 WRMI-14. All others nominal. These would both normally be on TOMBS at this hour: tech problems, or reduxion in TOMBS $ $ /hours? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2289) ** U S A. 15134, 15138, 15142, 15146; 15154, 15158, 15162, 15166, April 3 at 1448, galaxy of spurs every ~4 kHz above and below 15150 WMLK, S9+25/35 with Yahweh stuff. They cut on and off with modulation peaks, JBA at the edges but quite strong closest to 15150. Something`s very busted at Bethel`s new 300 kW transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2289) ** U S A. 4840, April 3 at 0635, this WWCR-3 is unusually OFF, due to storms? However, at 0633, 5890 is on with TOMBS despite it being a weekday, // 5850 WRMI, singing ``Marching to Zion``. 5890 shows up occasionally on `wrong` overnights. Then day frequency of WWCR-3, 13845 is also OFF at 1457, still off past 1500 and 1615, while 9980 & 12160 are blasting in. By 1831, 13845 still off, 9980 also off as scheduled, leaving only 12160 on. Since WWCR-1 service was discontinued voluntarily, if that transmitter and antenna still be funxional, why couldn`t they apply those to the WWCR-3 13845/4840 schedule? April 3 at 1446, Ron Trotto-WDX4KWI, Virden, Illinois, reported, ``I noticed last night WWCR was off the air on all frequencies around 0530 UT. I checked 650 WSM they were on and off. Wondering if everyone is OK in the Nashville area of Tenn`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2289) ** U S A. 9930, April 3 at 1832, WTWW is on but only S7/S9 instead of usual blasting. Propagation? Altho 12160 WWCR is blasting, other 9 MHz UStations are also very weak to JBA carriers, 9395, 9330, 9265 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA [and non]. 60 meter band vacant! of any SW broadcasters, beyond WWV, April 3 at 0635, NO: 4840 WWCR, NO Estacion 4940, NO 5010 WRMI, NO 5025 CUBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15470, April 3 at 1452, S5/S7 of dead air, off by 1458. Nothing listed for A25 now in Aoki but EiBi & HFCC have only IRAN in Dari at 0920-1250. IRIB has been reported elsewhen with dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0121 UT April 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

UNIDENTIFIED 15230 kHz at 0657 UT Fri April 4. Undoubtedly one China mainland outlet from Xian site on air in Mandarin Chinese; though but no reception in ME and Europe, so nothing heard from Sirjan Iran at this hour, not even a Sirjan carrier only noted so far. 73 de wolfie df5sx wwdxc
