** FRANCE. 7410-7415-7420, Sept 22 at 0155, DRM decoding OK into Maryland SDR, talk in French till chop at 0157*. Displays as from TDF, SNR of 18.8. Jean-Michel Aubier, France says these unlisted broadcasts of RFI programming are for St. Pierre & Miquelon. I wonder what the DRM receiver penetration be there in that bit of overseas France.
6010-6015-6020, Sept 22 at *0200, DRM cuts on as I have already retuned from 7415 on the Maryland SDR. Not as good as 7415 was, with dropouts, SNR 14.4, more RFI French (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11520, Sept 22 at 1455, VP music past 1501. Suspected Dengê Gel and/or Turkish jammer. No other signals 11500/11550 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Fri Sept 22 at 2200, token English from SNR, ``Optimum`` internet out so forced to listen direct: no problem in this case, VG S9+20, also sufficient on 15520 for ME, just a bit of fading; insufficient on 17715 for S America, and JBA on 11670 for Africa. 2206 after the news, another interview about Spanish film fest in London (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR0 ** SWAZILAND. 11880, Sept 22 at 1459 open carrier, 1500 TWR IS once and s/on mentioning Somali. Yes, that`s Manzini, scheduled at 1500-1530, extended weekends to 1545. Good signal, presumably long-path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11765, Sept 22 at 1456, VOT IS and ID in some language, S5/S8 with flutter. Aoki shows Dari at 1500-1530, Pashto at 1530-1625 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785, Sept 22 at 2200 and further chex direct, no signal from VOT English, not even a JBA carrier. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2209 monitoring: confirmed Friday September 22 at 2055 UT the 2030 on IRRS SW via 5 kW AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9/+10 with some storm crashes into nearby Noale SDR, finally: ``Optimum`` internet connectivity has been out and in, mostly out, since yesterday. Lite CCI presumed Smooth Radio, Brighton, England, 500 watts, but not for much longer. Via Mike Barraclough: ``The former Southern Sound (now Smooth Radio) transmitter on 1323 kHz is to close at the end of September 2023: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US5eRYJmbgs MWCircle iog``. Per WRTH that leaves on 1323 a 30-watter in UK, some Romanians and Iran, which I have suspected not be on air as late in night as WOR. Next: 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 5850 to NW 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0000 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 to SSE [planned late in Sept] 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0245vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0457] 1030 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [jammed by Cuba?] 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [planned late in Sept] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2208] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW; also webcast, phonecast] Thanks this week to Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous quarterly check for autumn to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 860, Sept 21 circa 18 UT, KKOW Pittsburg KS is back on air, after missing yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN. 17605, Sept 22 at 1505, YL in Arabish, SSOB at S9/+10. Aoki shows it`s R. Tamazuj in Juba dialect at 1500-1600, but R. Dabanga which follows at 1559-1657 in Darfur dialect switches to France site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5100 CW, Sept 22 at 0656, beeps at the rate of 25 per minute, and soon found the same thing on 4800 CW. What? In bandscan I found no broadcasters above 5000: no WRMI, Rebelde, WTWW or WBCQ. Vanuatu not 5040 but still on 7260 a few more minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2326 UT September 22

** BRAZIL [and non]. 11780, Sept 21 at 0210, RNA reactivated after missing about a week, during hyper-enthusiastic yelling as if in futebol, but it`s rather late and there are bits of birdlike SFX. VG into Maryland SDR, and no doubt would have also been if checked direct. Chopped off the air in progress at 0230* sharp; normally would run to 0300. Let the SDR run for a while squelched, but no return. And // 6180 is now off the air, clearing the way for La Voz Alegre, MWV Madagascar Spanish gospel huxter hour which has always been in collision. What next? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209)
** CUBA. 15140, Sept 20 at 1925, RHC English on BST-1 caradio, YL is muffled and soft-spoken, can`t follow her, 1928 OM is quite readable outroducing her as Alejandra García, and into sports. Also squeal on carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC. The Other Side: READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW September 19, 2023 EMIGRATION Cuba: the country of broken families The industry uses the suffering of Cuban families as a bargaining chip. In many cases, they rupture. In the best ones, they are separated for many years. YOAN MIGUEL GONZÁLEZ PIEDRA | Holguín A senior in Havana's Central Park. (Diario de Cuba) Sandra, a 31-year-old Holguin mother, is struggling tremendously to care for her two children, alone, because her husband has recently left the country. Doybel, her eldest son, is 11 years old, and Lesly is just two. Alexey, her spouse, is another young Cuban father who is in Mexico "waiting for his turn on the application to enter the United States," she explains....`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1695048377_49822.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. Here`s the identity of my Sept 17 unIDRM circa 7415: ``[WOR] TDF in DRM Mode --- Here in NB, noted TDF with a DRM transmission in French today (20 September) on 7415 kHz tuning in at 0135 UT. Wasn't getting much audio initially but improved continuously to almost constant audio before the transmitter left the air abruptly at 0157. Didn't hear an ID so not sure of source of audio. There was also a line of text transmitted: "Diffusion DRM assurée par l'opérateur TDF". Also subsequently found them in DRM with French on 6015 kHz at 0220 UT but with little audio decoding and transmitter off shortly before 0230. What I heard sort of sounded like a domestic program rather than RFI but couldn't be sure. Same text line decoded. Is there any regular schedule of these TDF transmissions? -- Richard Langley`` ``Hi Richard, As far as I can find there is no published schedule of these transmissions. Some have been registered in HFCC in the past, but not this lot. If anyone has a reliable source of information on these I'd like to know so I can keep the schedule used by KiwiSDRs updated. At the moment I'm just going on what people are logging at random, and deleting the entries when no-one has reported it for a while. I really think this should be something the DRM Consortium could be doing rather than publishing the largely fictional schedule on their website. Cheers, Chris`` Mackerell, NZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209) ** OKLAHOMA. Sept 21 around 18 UT, OG&E crew spotted at work nearby: they are replacing an electric pole for some reason, but they say the transformer atop is not a new one. I thought maybe this was finally in response to my line noise complaint, and it does seem to have diminished somewhat, but still very buzzy as I approach the pole later with my DX-398 on MW and SW. It had also been a noise peak area driving by on caradio. They blamed a new cable TV provider installing on their poles (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2208 monitoring: confirmed now thrice in a row on WRMI: UT Thursday September 21 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Thursday September 21 at new time of 0100 on WRMI 9955, S9 into Maryland SDR with no jamming audible. `Circuit Rider` gospel huxter was chopped off in progress, but 0100 is his endtime also on other nights. Also confirmed UT Thursday September 21 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010, S9/+10 into Bonaire SDR; and 9395, S9+15 into Maryland SDR. Next: Also confirmed Thursday September 21 NEW TIME at 1400 on WRMI 9955, S8/9+10 direct vs high storm noise level, no jamming audible. As also happens elsewhen, preceding program, `Midnight Cry` gospel huxter gets chopped off for ID at 1359.5 just as he is attempting to utter his website. Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous quarterly check for autumn to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WRMI 9955 schedule: since I was not hearing any jamming vs WORLD OF RADIO at 0100 UT Thu Sept 21, I took a look at the System B skedgrid to see just when jamming would now be ``necessary`` --- and see NO obviously Cuban exile programs on it any more. There used to be a weeknightly strip at 6 or 7 pm ET, Radio Libertad, was it? Gone. Maybe for a while, as not included on the outdated Aoki entries for 9955. Of course the Cubans will still jam any ex-exile frequency for years to come, at least sporadically; I recently noticed poor Brother Scare late at night getting pulse-jammed. What about the Programming page? No exile programs there either. What happened to them? At least there is still Radio República on RMI via France 9490 and jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2209) ** U S A. Re: WTWW coming back by end of Sept? --- On Sept 14 I reply to George McClintock: ``George, Tnx. Does this mean something other than Scriptures for America? Or would there again be some SFA too? Glenn`` ``Glenn, New programming in the beginning. Then later SFA. George McClintock 9-15-2023`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) 5085, later 9475 THE TINY TRAP On MSNBC at 0204 UT Sept 20, Laurence O`Donnell refers to Vietnam as ``that tiny country the size of New Mexico``, having been bombarded so excessively. Yes, per my Almanaque Mundial of 1987y, Vietnam of 329,556 sqkm vs New Mexico of 315,115 sqkm --- but TINY? Come on. Drastically different shapes so difficult to eyeball compare (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0114 UT September 22

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Sept 20 at 1500, sounds like Turkish music, i.e. jammer against and/or Dengê Gel, which recently quit the 17 MHz band for 11510, but once jammer caught up, into the cat-and-mouse jumparound. No other significant signals now below 11600 such as 11510. Later 11540 confirmed as I see this Sept 20 on the WOR iog:
``Dengê Gel has started using alternate frequencies to avoid the Turkish jammer. Noted today at 0640 on 11540, with Erdogan speech on 11520. When Pridnestrovye was used in the past, signal strength here in the U.K. was much stronger. Probably still via Tashkent. Alan Holder, G4ZBH, Isle of Wight, U.K.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MALDIVES [non]. 11620, Sept 20 cuts on late at *1500.5, VOMK in unreadable English, S6/S9+10; by 1503 changed to the YL in presumed Dhivehi. Propagation degraded so not as strong as usual, but more than one could expect from Uzbekistan site rather than Australia. Which is continuing to be a matter of controversy; another possibility is that more than one site may be in use on different days (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Wed Sept 20 after 2200, token English from REE main feature on quick midcheck, VG into Maryland SDR, interview about Hemingway and his connexions to Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 20 after 2200, VOT English back to VG signal into UTwente; `Weekly Commentary` - or was it `Weekly Analysis` started shortly after 2230 until almost 2250 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2208 monitoring: ``Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2208, notes, loggings, WRMI: 9395 khz, weak heard voice beginning, 2344, S5 signal, ID 2359, Sep 19 UTC 2023 [Tue] (Lemke, Richard -AB)`` Confirmed Tuesday September 19 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+25 into Missouri SDR. Also confirmed Wednesday September 20 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -72 Hz = 7489.928, VG S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. Next: Note that per WRMI websked, WOR may appear thrice in a row on three different frequencies Wednesday evenings, toward the end of our weekly produxion cycle. 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW on sked; to be confirmed] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba? to be confirmed] No new contributions this week which might have been sent via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, Sept 20 at 0141, no signal from WBCQ-6 W.L.C.R., tho Classix on 7490- & 6160- are nominal. 9330 still off at 0620 while 6160- is still on with TOMBS. Wonder what`s the problem now? Next chex at 1656 and later, 9330 back on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085 & 5130+, Sept 20 at 0036, still no signals from WTWW planning to resume, nor WBCQ Trumpmitter. 5010 WRMI is on but not yet 5050 until 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, Wed Sept 20 at 1930, WRMI relaying VOA News, and 1935 `Flashpoint Ukraine`; final item is interview with CEO of DragonFly about how drones in private hands will soon be as fun and ubiquitous as the internet. 1959 VOA ID sung by sounds like Louis Armstrong, neat -- but NO WRMI ID and 2000 immediately into gospel huxter. The casual uninformed listener would conclude that VOA is now a religious outlet, violating Separation Of Church And State (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 860, Sept 20 at 1854 UT, KKOW Pittsburg KS, is off! During routine bandscan from ~25 km north of Enid. Did not know it had any problems; neighbor 690 KGGF Coffeyville KS is VG as usual, both 10 kW. On 860 seems a JBA fast SAH but would not expect any daysigs from others nearest in TX, AR, IA. On 860 and above there is lite line noise audible even tho no powerlines in sight where parked along US 81/60/64 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1130, Sept 20 at 1656 & 1855 UT chex, KLEY Wellington KS is still silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1290, Sept 20 at 1857 UT, ``Texhoma`s NewsTalk 1290`` slogan, i.e. KWFS Wichita Falls TX, with barely an undertrace of KMMM Pratt KS, on caradio north of Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 104.3, Sept 20 at 1952 UT, `B 104-3 The Point``, and rock. Don`t ever hear this back in Enid, with 104.1 OKC adjacent, but 25 km north on expedition, no problem; WTFDA FM DB: ``KVGB-FM 104.3 GREAT BEND KS CLASSIC ROCK THE POINT 96.0 kW 247.0 m HAAT 38-25-54 98-46-18 4811 Song/Artist - B 104/3 "THE POINT" -KVGB-FM Classic Rock`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2345 UT September 20

** CHINA [non?]. 17855, Sept 19 at 0600, surprised to hear some Chinese JBA on frequency left tuned after Spain at 2200. Not accounted for in Aoki, but EiBi shows RFA via Tinian, and CNR1/Firedrake jamming this hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 101.5, Sept 19 at 1500 UT on caradio, again dead air with stereo icon, presumed KOCD. Recheck at 1703 on DX-398 with telescopic antenna only and at ground level, now enough signal for RDS icon and to display: KOCD-FM_ static! So now it`s 100% certain that all this DA has been from the Okeene station which supposedly went off the air last January. At this time RDS worx, but not enough signal for $ tereo icon (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sept 19 at 2200, VOT English is only S7/S9 with noise, fading, even unto UTwente where normally can hit S9+50. About the worst I`ve ever heard it there. So a good excuse not to attempt any detailed logging today. I really need to break away from such a habit: better ways to spend a few hours per week. WWV reported at 2100: ``Solar-terrestrial indices for 19 September follow. Solar flux 166 and estimated planetary A-index 52. The estimated planetary K-index at 2100 UTC on 19 September was 3.67. Space weather for the past 24 hours has been strong. Geomagnetic storms reaching the G3 level occurred. Radio blackouts reaching the R1 level occurred.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2208 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2208, notes, loggings, WRMI: 5850, 0130, 0141, 0159 (45443), 0159, Sep 16 UTC 2023 [Sat] 9395, S8, signal, 0030, 0044, 0059 (45343), September 19 UTC [Tue](Lemke, Richard -AB) 73’s, Richard, September 19, 2023, 9:13 AM`` Confirmed UT Tuesday Sept 19 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/20 into Missouri SDR; usual intervention by fragment of Jeff`s ``The World is in Turmoil...`` ad between ID and WOR. Still not confirmed, rather music fill, Tuesday Sept 19 after 1300 on WRMI 9955, supposedly planned for ``later in Sept`` -- so maybe 26th? Next: 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB 1030 UT Wednesday Unique R, NSW 5035-USB [previous #2207] 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [NEW on sked; to be confirmed] 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1400 UT Thursday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba? to be confirmed] No new contributions this week which might have been sent via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1130 kHz, Sept 19 at 1635 UT, no signal on caradio from KLEY Wellington KS; despite high storm and line noise level, should be audible as usual daytimes. At 1655 I get a JBA carrier on the R75; on the DX 398 I can`t get a DF fix. Could be image, or: how about running ``one watt`` night power in day rather than 250 watt day power at night? So KLEY seems totally off the air, and not merely dead air as often. Meanwhile sibling KKLE Winfield KS 1550 is quite audible with bluegrass, altho always weaker than KLEY when it`s normal, and DF for NNE/SSW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2315 UT September 19
