seems English, presumably Aussies, again showing up like last year,
but could never catch an ID. It seems only? VK authorizes phone on the
30m hamband. Also on 10125 CW, the usual HK3QQ COLOMBIA with his
corrupt keyboard letter sequences (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 990, Aug 16 at 0704 UT, am not hearing CBW, normally
audible at night but varies a lot due to QRM and auroral, rather a CBS
station, see unID. Because Andy Reid reported Aug 15: ``I have been
noticing an absence of 990 CBW Winnipeg overnight in Southern Ontario
for over a month. Usually it makes its presence known. Has anyone else
noticed a lack of signal?`` Anyhow, circa 18 UT, CBW is certainly not
off the air into Wpg remote (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 870, Aug 16 at 0712 UT, whooper or rather squeaker
under WWL, and not under WHO at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 960, Aug 16 at 0704 UT, KGWA Enid is OFF! Wish I had
noticed earlier. But still on 100.9 translator: how can that be, no AM
to ``translate``?? 960 still off at 1812 UT: must be something
serious. So what else can I hear now on 960? See U S A. Hope still
AWOL tonight (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 17580, Aug 15 at 2055, RRI signing off the 2030 to
NAmericaEast, plugs next transmissions, 2055 IS five+ times to 2057*.
S9/+10 into Maryland SDR; I need to check how well this arrive direct.
The next English at 2200 on 9740 is a JBA carrier, intended for W
Europe, needs to be higher to reach here. Suspended 11800 would be a
bit better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715+, slightly on plus side as usual, Fri Aug 15 at 2158,
token English from SNR, S9+20/30 direct, much stronger even than 17525
WMLK. Weak 15390 also audible, but 15500 & 15520 are OFF. 2200 open
English, preview something about a palacio in Madrid, Canary Islands,
no news. I can`t fully understand Marilyn Quintana with her accent
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, Aug 15 at 2157, VOT not off the air, S9+10/20 direct
vs high noise level, IS and ID in English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 326 MCW kHz, Aug 16 at 0642 UT, beacon MA is JBA, not heard
for a longtime, 400 watts at MidlAnd TX (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Haven`t heard any 10m beacons lately, but a few are making
it Aug 15 at 2159-2206, with info from WGB list:

All have been heard several times before. Which reminds me, have not
heard K6FRC/B in a long time, used to be a strong regular signal on
28300 from Tracy CA, 100! watts. Nor the HIFER K6FRC on 13565 - LWCA
https://www.lwca.net/sitepage/part15/index.htm says OFF TFN as of
7/2024.

Meanwhile a lot of CB channels were hopping with hets - how come no
two CB transmitters are on-frequency? And one unID phone ham USB on
10m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2308 monitoring: confirmed Friday
August 15 at 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.994+, S7/S8 into
UTwente across Europe.

Also confirmed Friday August 15 at 2224 the 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10
direct seems undermodulated.

Also confirmed Friday August 15 at 2237 the 2231 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 3975.002-, S9/+10 into UTwente with storm crashes. 

Also confirmed UT Saturday August 16 at 0300 on WTWW 5085, S8/9+10
into NH SDR, following Ancient Word Radio ID after `Truth2Ponder`, WTWW
ID as 100,000 watts on 9475 & 5085, and ``You are listening to the
ministry of...`` Cut to ``This is Glenn Hauser with World of Radio
2308...`` - all seemed fine but recheck at 0327 it`s already off the
air, unknown when this happened or why; I`ve asked George.

Also confirmed Saturday August 16 at 1456 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 6160.000, S9 into UTwente.

3265, 5130 or 6160; sometimes the 5 and 6 do cut on with IS & ID loop.
7490 at 0000 UT Sat Aug 16, WBCQ ID and into `WTO` theme; interjexions
somewhat familiar, but no courtesy announcement that this would be a
repeat. Then also on 9330. Finally mentions that ``today``, Zelenskyy
was thrown out of the White House -- so it`s not the real today`s
non-news about the Anchorage Summit, but from Feb 28! Yes, see my
report on that UT March 1; Never mind.

5130, UT Sat Aug 16 at 0058, this WBCQ is now on with IS & ID loop, an
hour later than usual, -85 Hz = 5129.915, S9+10/20 into NH SDR, and
0100 `The Devil`s Advocate` which per websked is supposed to be at
0200-0300 UT Sats and on 6160, 7490 instead. SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 960 kHz, Aug 16 at 0705 UT in absence of local KGWA,
somestation IDs as 101.7. The NRC AM Log and the WTFDA FM DB agree the
only 960/101.7 match is: WSVU, North Palm Beach FL, U4 2400/1400, and
W269DS, Radio Elite International, Haitian! Of course an ID in English
could still happen, but this still seems a bit far to be fetched

** U S A. 960 kHz, Aug 16 at 0706 UT, in absence of local KGWA Enid,
weather and ``River Radio`` ID. That`s KZIM Cape Girardeau MO, U2
5000/500 which I`ve heard before during KGWA when its air is merely

** VANUATU. 7260, Aug 16 at 0635, RV JBA with music S6 = noise level
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 930, Aug 16 at 0716 UT, `C2CAM` // 940 KIXZ, 1040 WHO,
etc. Too many 930 affiliates to speculate; but where`s WKY OKC? Maybe
still on but lost in the pileup (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 990, Aug 16 at 0701 UT, CBS news, loops roughly E/W. New
NRC AM Log shows the only CBS on 990 is WTIG Massilon OH, U4 250/112,
also with ESPN. Certainly not enough to go on; I am checking for CBW
Winnipeg which is due north and normally audible at night, but varies
a lot due to QRM. See CANADA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1370, Aug 16 at 0653 UT, ``AYE AM & FM, your voice here
in...`` partial ID, but I can`t find any fuzzily similar calls in the
new NRC AM Log. Reverse lookup I try in WTFDA FM DB, searching on
relay of: everything on 1370. Lots of them almost all translators,
including K224FS of KLOE 1370 in Goodland KS. KLOE might qualify
fuzzily, but trouble is, KLOE is really on 730!! O well (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1431.0 kHz, Aug 16 at 0651 UT, JBA het upon 1430
signals. Only significant transmitter on 1431 is 600 kW VOA/Sawa
DJIBOUTI -- but not this late and besides is supposedly turned off.
And when it was active, not in daytime between 02 and 16 per mwlist.
In Asia/Pacific, nothing more than 10 kW in Australia, China, Japan,
New Zealand, Thailand, and besides it`s way too early in daytime for
any of those. So, more likely yet another CUBAn inexplicably
transmitting +1 kHz. It`s not a modulated tone from somestation, since
not also on 1429. However, mwlist and WRTH show NO Cuban on 1430, let
alone 1431 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Aug 15 at 0551, RHC S9+25 but suptorted, drama with
dialog in English - like soundtrack from a TV show or movie, wrong
satellite feed into transmitter or thumbing nose at Habana HQ? This
happens frequently. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GERMANY. 6070, Sat Aug 15 at 1704, Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot via
Channel 292, with one of Tom Lehrer`s greatest hits, then into Syrian
music as previewed; another Lehrer at the end 1756. S9+20 into DL7APJ
remote, better than UTwente. Slight CCI when there should be none,
certainly not CFRX at this hour. Maybe crossmod at rx. HFCC shows 6070
as a JIC/MIC channel from Yamata, Japan; possibly reactivated in
rotation. Further repeats of UBMP: Fri 2100 on 3955, Sun Aug 17 at
1700 on 9670 eastward (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. MW beacon bandscan, Aug 15 at 0633-0635 UT audiblizes a few
benefiting from reduced noise level, heard before in better
conditions:
356, ODX, Ord NE, 25 watts;
392, FMZ, Fairmont/Beklof NE, 25 watts - first heard tuned to 390 USB;
400, AHQ, Wahoo NE, 25 watts;
420, PK, Olathe/Herbb KS, 25 watts.
Overall, I tend to hear more of these from 2nd-adjacent state
Nebraska, than first-adjacent Kansas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2308 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, Friday August 15 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, as always JBA direct,
S3/S4. But also:

``Friday 8/15/25 WRMI Broadcast 15770 khz --- Greeting Sir, I listened
to your program this morning at about 1300Z-1330Z, RST 5/+20/9 with
occasional QSB. Radios: Kenwood TS-440VAT, TS-440SAT, Xiegu G1M, and
ATS-20 are shortwave capable. Antenna: 130ft NVIS on fence at 6 Ft.
QTH: Currituck, NC. Thank you for your comprehensive shortwave station
synopsis.

Though an amateur radio operator since the later 70’s, I’d rather
listen than operate preferred CW mode most of the time. Was active in
CA as WA6VTT, Midway Island as WH4AAB & KH4AC, Guam and continuing as
KH2EE. I guess radio has been a big part of life. Starting as a kid
with AM, and later FM, CB, and amateur radio since. Retired from US
Navy as a Chief Radioman after 21 years plus service. Was a Navy MARS
operator as NNN0AGM, and SOCAL broadcast station operator NNN0DBA
before Homeland Security absorbed AFMARS, and Navy MARS program was

** U S A. Correxion: the WREC translator is on 92.1, not 97.1 as I
mistyped at first reference due to my indistinct scribble originally.

600 kHz, Aug 2 at 0635 UT, ``600 WREC and 92.1 FM``, back
into C2CAM. The 600 I normally hear with C2CAM is WMT in IA, but no
sign of it now. WMT major nightlobe goes SW thisaway, while WREC goes
WNW/NW from Memphis. 92.1 is a mere translator, W221CR (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 600 kHz, Aug 15 at 0629 UT, WMT ID during break in `Coast to
Coast AM`, otherwise horrible CCI from another C2CAM station, way out
of synch, maybe 20 seconds later, presumably WREC. C2CAM is a
tolerable call-in talkshow with variety of topix and not totally
far-right-political like `Red Eye Radio`.

1150, KSAL Salina KS is another C2CAM, with a good signal nighttimes
direxional thisaway but another C2CAM is almost synchro making it
sound like a reverb. Last year`s NRC AM Log shows these possibilities:
WNDB Daytona Beach FL, WJBO Bâton Rouge LA, KRMS Osage Beach MO, WIMA
Lima OH, KAGO Klamath Falls OR, KQQQ Pullman WA, WHBY Kimberly WI,
CKFR Kelowna BC. Same in new NRC AM Log just received, minus CKFR. I
would go with 5 kW WJBO except it`s direxional E/W; or rather KRMS
840/55 watts, ND from middle of MO (Glenn Hauser, OK WOR)

** U S A. 770, Aug 15 at 0635 UT, `Red Eye Radio`, obviously KKOB
Albuquerque NM, bigsig sounds like back to 50 kW and not notched
thisaway toward WABC. Since a Fest balloon knocked down one of their
towers in North Valley last year, has been on much reduced power and
probably ND at night, which makes it much more audible thisaway. 

Latest info via NRC DX News: ``Applications for CPs received: 
770 KKOB NM Albuquerque – Applies for CP with U2 50000/5000, new site
(co-located with 
KTBL-1050 and KOAZ-1510) at 34-58-48.5, 106-44-16.2``

Per radio-locator, KTBL site is SSW of ABQ near Isleta Village Proper.
Will they still need/operate that co-channel fill-in nighttimes in
Santa Fe? At this hour, RER is always a split second behind neighbor
760 WJR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Aug 15 at 0548, JBA carrier, even weaker than the
7235 mystery. RV is back here, not heard on 9960 last night nor
tonight. Ron Howard found it on 7260 at 0505 into NZ SDR. Zach Liangas
says it changed again to 3945 after 0700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
