Glenn Hauser logs July 19-20, 2025 |
|
Sunday, July 20 2025
** CUBA. 13780, July 19 at 2234, RHC NF is missing again? No, but JBA Spanish into Maryland, other remotes where it should do better; underpowered? By 0001 July 20 direct check, no signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CURACAO. 21300.2 USB, July 19 at 2255, CQ CQ from PJ2Y, at first sounded like PJ2YPJ till a different voice took over, or 21300.3? quick contacts, contest? QRZ.com: ``PJ2Y Curacao flag Curacao, James R Storms, 4968 Tilbury Rd, Huber Heights, OH 45424, Curacao - Here it is 2025 and we are on the air in Curacao from July 18 through July 21. Try to contact all kids on each band. Again we thank the Caribbean Contest Consortium for hosting us. Uli is here and doing a great job helping us with the station. A special thanks to Dayton Amateur Radio Association for being the major sponsor. As always DX engineering is a high level supporter along with Icom`` It seems this is an annual outing of ``The Dave Kalter Youth DX Adventure`` The OSOB, at least no other SSBs encountered (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MALI. 5995, July 19 at 1851, R. Mali in token English for a few minutes on Saturdays only. Checking several remotes in Canary, Morocco, Spain, Sicily, Greece, Kuwait, Qatar, RSA, most getting nothing or too little except for TWR Johannesburg, but it`s insuff, only S7 vs high noise level. The OM speaker is more intelligible than the YL with a heavy French? accent. I recall that Fuerteventura, Canary Islands used to work best for this, but not now shown on the KiwiSDR roster. However, I do find and reach EA8BFK via another roster, almost too late: S9+20/30 at 1901 still English, mentioning the Malian Association of Teachers of English, and something about Nelson Mandela. 1903 wrapping up with frequency 92.0, and ``may God bless Mali`` at 1904 bit of music and switch to another language (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6965 USB, July 20 at 0007, pirate music, S9+10/20 vs NL of S9+10; retuned at 0009 just as a Wolverine Radio ID is uttered. More: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,147761.0.html Theme is Woman, see playlist; SSTV illustrated with a reclining nude sculpture (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 AM, July 20 at 0008, pirate music JBA S9+10/20. These say it`s Thunder Chicken Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,147756.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 92.1, July 20 at 0044 UT on caradio, bandscanning in case a bit of Es DX; at least two signals fading in and out here. Weak but clear for an ID, ``Heart & Soul 92.1 and 1140`` which is merely K221FQ OKC of KRMP 1140, which ought to be better than JBA in noise level; 99 watts.
Occasionally fading up to dominance on 92.1 is KFXI Marlow 100 kW, C&W; 0051 ID ``KFXI Foxy 92``, and now it is definitely with $ tereo pilot, but was surely in mono whenever I heard it before and shown as such in WTFDA FM DB. I suppose we cannot be sure it will always be one or the other? If a station ever deliberately turn to mono e.g. during talk programming, it might forget to change back to $ (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** PERU. 4955, July 19 at 2247, good Spanish signal into Lima remote, S9+10/22, no doubt R. Cultural Amauta, or is it just R. Amauta as in WRTH? I should have stayed for an ID. Hearing it directly is tough, especially since it is not 24h (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785.003+, Sat July 19 at 2211, VOT English not off the air, S9+25/45 into UTwente (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 28200+ CW, July 19 at 2347, beacon with 20 E`s and very fast msg, starting with NST, which was probably really TEST, and from N4WLO/B, Theodore AL, heard before, listed 28200.5.
28209.5 CW, July 19 at 2348, K7EMX/B is audible as well as WWV on 25000; Kearns UT, no doubt reminding us to check out his QRZ.com site for loads of jabs at our dear leader: https://www.qrz.com/db/K7EMX (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2304 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday July 19 at 0300 on WTWW 5085, S9+40/50 direct. After Ancient Word Radio and WTWW IDs claiming 100 kW, as usual I am introduced as a ``ministry``.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 1441 the 1430 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.001-, S9+5 into UTwente.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 1600 on WRN North America stream
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 1732 the 1730 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.002- S9/+10 and 3975.001+ S7/S9 with self-imposed tone, into UTwente.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 1939 about 5 minutes into so started circa 1934 UT on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, S5.5 into K9VD Jerseyville IL remote only.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 2023 the 2000 on WRN Europe stream.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 2100 on WRMI 9395, S9+25 into Georgia SDR.
Also confirmed Saturday July 19 at 2230 on WRMI 15770, abnormally JBA into Maryland SDR, but S9/+15 into UTwente where it`s aimed.
Also confirmed UT Sunday July 20 from 0325 the 0315v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S8/9+15 into N9AZZ remote in IL. Next:
1900 UT Sunday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918; 2100 UT Sunday WRMI 15770 to NE; 2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 9455 to NW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0830 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160 [suspended]; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918; 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW [NEW]; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
Thanks for financial support this week from Peter Robinson, Preston UK, a very generous contribution via PayPal, to woradio at yahoo.com
One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9930, July 19 at 2342, WTWW with TOMBS is S9+40 direct, and no spurs or splatter unlike yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 25000, July 20 at 0026 since WWV is well heard now via sporadic E, I measure the offset on my R75: as if on 25000.113. And on 20000.078. And on 10000.044. Each may be a few Hz off; obviously the higher the frequency, the greater the error, but should be proportional. There is probably an adjustment somewhere inside the radio to ``zero`` the readout; but meanwhile this can be a rough correxion factor for other frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 28340 USB, July 20 at 0012-0025, two or three hams in colloquial Spanish, never heard an ID as they were more interested in masticando trapos. No other SSBs audible on 10m, but a few beacons. No hits on dxheat/dxcluster (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs July 18-19, 2025 |
|
Saturday, July 19 2025
** CUBA. 13780, July 18 at 2219 & 2310 & 2341 chex into Georgia SDR, NO signal from RHC`s new frequency any more. Did not check this morning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 760.13, July 18 at 0535, het against WJR, again presumed XEDGO, Durango2, in mwoffsets at 760.125. I could believe it`s between .120 and point 130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15500 & 17715 both S9+20/30 direct, 15520 S9/+10, and 15390 S7/S9, token English from SNR in news. 2207 feature about rising temps in the MeditSea, 5-7 degrees higher than a year ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785.003+, July 18 at 2158, VOT English not off the air, audible direct but insuff vs noise level. At 2220 into Georgia SDR, S8/9+5 in a travelog about Anatolia, with ACI from 11780 Brasil. At 2223 into UTwente when measured, S9+35/45 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2304 monitoring: confirmed first SWBC, Friday July 18 at 1300 on WRMI 15770, JBA direct.
Also confirmed Friday July 18 at 2039 the 2030 on WRMI webcast, presumably still only tho did not check 9955 to be sure.
Also confirmed Friday July 18 at 2040 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323, S5/S6 into nearby Parma SDR, but not on 918 anymore, nor 207.
Also confirmed Friday July 18 at 2202 the 2200 on WRMI 9955, sounds JBM direct, at 2211 recognizably me; and at 2220 into Georgia SDR, S9/+10 and modulation seems adequate: often such an anomaly concerning 9955.
Also confirmed Friday July 18 at 2230 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.000+, S8/9+5 into UTwente. Next:
0300 UT Saturday WTWW 5085 [sometimes]; 1430 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 1730 UT Saturday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM [1900/2100]; 2100 UT Saturday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2230 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE; 2300 UT Saturday WTWW 9475 [suspended]; 0230vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400]; 1900 UT Sunday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918; 2100 UT Sunday WRMI 15770 to NE; 2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 9455 to NW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0830 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160 [suspended]; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323 and/or 918; 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW [NEW]; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
** U S A. 9980-10010 & 9855-9875, rough spans of TOMBS splatter out of 9930 WTWW, July 18 at 2210 direct. No longer have to differentiate it from 9980 as WWCR is QRT. Especially annoying vs 10000 WWV! But 9955 WRMI and I, more or less unscathed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, UT Sat July 19 at 0102, this WTWW is on air with preaching, not BS nor T2P nor PPP? So prospects are good for WOR at 0300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5800, 5850, 5950, 7730, 9455 strongest with hum, July 18 at 0554, dead air on all these WRMIs instead of scheduled `Classic Redneck Radio`, quite an improvement. Too weak to be sure: 7780, 15770, while 9955 seems JBM. Xmtr grid shows System E, C.R.R. before 0600 on: 7730, 9955, 5950, 5800, 9455, 5850, 7780. WRMI jingle and `Lifeline` heard on 7570, sked for `Legends` on Sys C; SMTV on 9395 & 15770 Sys J (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` chex of WBCQs, July 18 at 2345 into NH remote: 7490 -73 Hz = 7489.927, S9/+5 with FKB; 6160.001 algo else JBA presumably East Turkistan. 5130 -84 Hz = 5129.916, open carrier S9+5. 3265 is ON for first time in a long time, FKB // 7490-, S5/S9 but I don`t get it measured before off again; habitually way on the plus side unlike the others. 9330 S7/S8 WLCR Portuguese. At 2355, 5130- has started IS & ID loop.
July 19 at 0000, 5130- with ID, dead air, something not AAAWWW, presumably the ex-6160 program. At 0002 as expected, 3265, 7490- and 9330.0 are in WTO and `AAAWWW`, initial comment: ``another day, another dollar``. 7490 suffers from OTH radar clickery on the minus side, so I keep listening on USB, or 3265. Angela is on the phone, and we rarely hear from her during the hour. It turns out that I listen to the whole thing, as there is not a bit about Drumpf. It`s hot everywhere. First live show in a while. Allan is alone in Maine. Been working on transmitters. Moving heavy plate transformers. 6160 has been down for a couple of weeks. 50 kW unit has a 10 kW driver, and the xfmr burned out. It`s 65 years old, air-cooled, not oil-. From the graveyard a replacement weighs 800 lb, so moved it into the 6160 building, but will take a while to modify and rewire. Wayne Anderson, longtime staffer, multi-tasker, died suddenly of heart attack a week ago, very much missed, at age 59. Diet advice: avoid processed foods, red meat except as occasional treat. By 0029 the storm noise level is growing so I switch to the A51 webcast - even tho A51 is now on neither 5130 nor 6160. 0030 datestamp as live on 18 July, YOOLF 2025, trimulcasting on 9330, 7490, 3265. 0032 spends rest of hour reading an essay he got by email from Green World Order, about how humanity should stop warring, reduce population over time, and provide energy abundance for everyone. I agree it was good and thought-provoking, except for some of the religious angles, q.v.? Finished just in time for a quick prayer and turn over to Hal Turner - except not on the A51 stream, instead ID as WKHS in northern Maryland, Kent? County High School. WTFDA FMDB shows WKHS as 90.5 in Worton MD, relay of WXPN 88.5, adult alternative (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1030 kHz, July 18 at 0550 UT, ``News Radio WBZ`` ID in passing. Always glad to pick up this most distant of the conterminous clears, Boston at 1484 miles (Seattle only 1456). Mixed with gospel-sounding harmonies I was hoping to ID, as daytimer/limiteder 50 KCTA Corpus Christi TX has been reported running too late. Unfortunately there are a few other REL formats on 1030. Needed to DF it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 7850 RCUSB, July 17 at 0622, CHU back on now, S9. And Richard Langley reports: ``Confirmed 7850 kHz back on again when I checked this morning (17 July) at about 1115 UT`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13780, July 17 at 1358, JBA in Spanish, RHC new frequency; while 15230 is a JBA carrier. Chris Campbell got this from his contact at RHC: ``RHC is trying a new frequency, 13780 in Spanish and I hope in a few days they will have tests on other frequencies for the English service.
The country is in chaos. Food, medicines, cooking gas, electricity, public transport. Too many needs extremely hard to satisfy. I am talking about the basics, no luxury at all. I am better than other people my age and some days I have just one meal to leave something for the next day, not to mention saving something for the kids``
And from Luis H. Esquivel in California at 1224 UT July 17: ``Good Morning, I'm listening to RHC on 13780 kHz on one of my favorite Kiwi SDR's in Lamont, Alberta Canada, http://72.172.110.98:8175/ My go to SDR for being more local to me at the Mojave Desert California has been offline lately so I went to my next favorite because of the antenna system it uses and selected the 22m band and a strong signal got my attention at 13780 khz and to my surprise is Radio Habana Cuba. I'm recording it but hope you might be able to pick it up. Take care, sincerely, Luis H Esquivel, K6LHE`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2304)

** U S A. 13605, 11930, 11860, July 17 at 1356 Grimesland open carriers for R. Martí which blasts programming by 1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9395, July 17 at 1349, S5/S6 of open carrier/dead air. This WRMI-6 is supposed to be 24h, with `Classic Redneck Radio` at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9930, July 17 at 1350, WTWW already on with TOMBS. If now 24h, what is the switch time between 5920 & 9930; from 9930 to 5920 had been 0130, or earlier 0100?
Tony Pavick reports July 16: ``Regarding Overcomer on WTWW 9930: I caught them this morning 1300 UT with and very good signal with somewhat distorted audio, apart from the incredible caterwauling of the singer on the Overcomer broadcast. My reason for mentioning it here is that while the post here says 70 kilowatts, the WTWW top of hour ID said 100 kilowatts. No doubt they are just using a previously recorded ID. Tony Pavick, Hope BC``
Yes, nominal 100 kW, but George reduces to 70 to save expenses, and feels there is no difference to the listener (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9265, Thu July 17 at 0620, S9/+5, screaming gospel huxter, not // 5920 TOMBS, so not TOMBS? WINB extended schedule as occasionally happens. What does program sked show? Effective July 13, but not with this: still claims WINB Off Air, Thursdays 0400-1858! And every day, except Sundays, off 0400-1158, Saturdays off 0400-1500. Also 9265 JBA at 1348 July 17 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

By 0200-0205, MUF is down, opening overing? and I need to quit. At 0400 I see still going, but nexus further west, OK periphery at best (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13780, July 15 at 2349, new RHC on air again today, S9+10/15 into Georgia SDR, while 15230 is not on. At 0008 UT July 16, 13780 seems off both at Georgia and Lima, but at 0026 Georgia gets a JBA carrier, from what? CRI Nepali from Kashgar is not until 0130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13780, July 16 at 1341, RHC Spanish NF also in the mornings, S7/S9 direct. 15230 is also on S4/S6 but very suptorted. On second rx does not seem // or at least not synchronized; same at 1405. At 1420 seems // with applause intervals but not synchro, into Georgia SDRs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13780, July 16 at 2215, RHC S9+30 in Spanish with good modulation, and not on 15230. Wonder which transmitter/site and how they finally got it fixed up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 1680, July 16 circa 2000 UT, Virtual DJ Radio still going, best audible near US412/81 junxion in Enid, but seems weaker than before - or line noise level worse. Likewise the never IDed rock music with $ tereo pilot on 95.5, peaking about a mile west, at best mostly a hummy dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SPAIN. 15390, Wed July 16 at 2200, token English from SNR but on this Af frequency, only a high-pitched tone. Something`s notright at Noblejas. The other three funxional, but MUF is down, weakening SAm 17715 to S9/+10, ceding betterness to 15520 S9+10 for ME off the back direct to here; with 15500 for NAm S9+20/30 best by far. Preview topic to be about the Spanish Association of Consumer Rights. 2201 news leads again with strife in a Murcia town resulting from 3 north Africans attacking a real? Spaniard, leading to riots, demonstrations, protests; ``deport them now`` - not just the culprits. RTVE reporters had to be escorted out with police protexion. And the PM has visited Mauritania - implying that`s where they were from. 2206 on to discussion about a consumer protexion bill, planned obsolescence e.g. light bulbs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11785 & 9875, Wed July 16 at 2159 and later chex, no signals direct nor at 2225 into UTwente from VOT English for N America. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2303 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF (30 years of service), Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Also confirmed Tuesday July 15 at 2330 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.002-, S8/S9 into UTwente.
Missed checking UT Wed July 16 at 0030 on WRMI 9395; anyone hear it?
Also confirmed Wednesday July 16 at 1930 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6168.001 S9/+15 and 3975.002- S9+5/10 into UTwente.
Also confirmed Wednesday July 16 at 2114 the 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -67 Hz = 7489.933, only S4/S5 into NH SDR. Next:
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
Thanks for financial support this week from Richard Stoller in Pennsylvania for a contribution via PayPal, in US funds but not necessarily to woradio at yahoo.com
One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9917.2 & 9942.8, July 16 at 2212, weaker but doubtless spurs, +/- 12.8 kHz out of 9930 WTWW S9+40/50 direct as TOMBS rants against Catholix for worshiping Jesus, Mary, saints, rather than the one and only diety (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 17790, July 15 at 2350, checking whether WRMI has extended this as on current sked: yes, still on with Classic Redneck Radio, S7/S9, but off by 0006 check July 16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 7780, July 15 at 2351, this WRMI is on already with IS and ID leading up to scheduled 0000 start, S8/9+10 into Georgia SDR; after AWOL last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. FM DX opening July 16: see CANADA [and non]
** VANUATU. 9960, July 16 circa 0630, usual signal from R. Vanuatu; but at 1406 a JBA carrier direct; and 1450-1500+ into Townsville SDR, S9+10 of dead air except for some hum, some slight SSB QRM nearby. Still DA at 1631. Off by 1747. As no other stations are ever using 9960, presumably RV leaves its carrier on overnight (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
