Glenn Hauser logs March 8-9, 2023 |

Thursday, March 09 2023
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, March 8 at 2318 check into Argentine SDR, no signal from LRA36; we were somewhat expecting it if this be Wednesday, but there was no advance notice either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 4765, March 8 at 0437, R. Progreso, is AWOL; as is 5040 RHC, but active on 9535, 9650. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. The Other Side: ``Cuba: from the worst socialism to the worst capitalism --- Fidel Castro's successors are dispensing with the Cuban Revolution and its 'achievements' while assembling a Frankenstein system comprised of rotten pieces of oligarchical capitalism and the most vapid socialism. Rafaela Cruz, La Habana 07 Mar 2023 - 18:29 CET READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW March 8, 2023 Fidel Castro was a master of the art of prostitution, auctioning off Cuba to the highest bidder in his foreign policy, and fabricating a myth of Cuba as an anti-imperialist titan, for decades he was able to maintain an economically devastating model based on a centralized economy. His heirs, however, politically speaking, have little to sell, such that, although China, Vietnam, Russia, and, lately, even Venezuela continue to humor Cuba, with its latest antics, the concrete help they provide is scant. When Fidel died, a major part of the Revolution's political capital perished along with him, and the rest has dwindled due to the cowardice and ineptitude of Raúl Castro and his accomplices, who have been left with no choice but to dismantle the centralized economic model (excellent for oppression, but terrible for production) so that the country might advance, which means, simply speaking, returning to capitalism, liberalizing the economy. This is what Miguel Díaz-Canel and his band of obese henchmen, educated in the Ñico López school, are up to, dismantling "socialism" step by step, timorously, because they do not want end up like Gorbachev...`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1678210141_45675.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 910 kHz, March 8 at 1845 UT, classic rock music; surely at midday only 13 minutes after local mean noon, it`s my nearest and usual groundwave station, KVIS, in Miamuh, NE corner of the state. But I thought it was a gospel huxter. Tunes continue with brief pauses, no DJ announcements or ads or any talk, as if playing album. Surely they will legally ID at nearest top-of-hour opportunity? NO, same deadair breaks at 1858, 1903. Let`s see what radio-locator gets us about KVIS: http://www.okradiostation.com/kvis-910am.html brand is KINGS VISION --- no possessive apostrophe, so refers to more than one king but only one vision? Ha, obviously means King Jesus. But this is not a theocracy! So what does program sked show? It`s woefully incomplete, me not deleting anything but Sat & Sun headers extracted from running on at end of previous line. Times are 12-hour UT -6 soon to be UT -5. Nothing about playing classic rock hour after hour: ``About Us --- King's Vision KVIS 910AM features Southern Gospel music, nationally recognized family shows, preaching, and news and weather at the top of each hour. [sic] Schedule Monday Through Friday: 7 am-9 am Morning show 7:30 am VeggieTales 8:20 am Everyday Moments w/ Joyce Meyer 8:45 am Family Minute -1 minute Pastor Charles Clevenger (Monday ONLY) 9:30am DIAL-A-TRADE 11:00am Focus on the Family 11:30am Everyday Life w/ Joyce Meyer 2:07pm Everyday Life w/ Joyce Meyer 7:00pm Adventures in Odyssey Saturday 10:00am Gaither Homecoming 7:00pm Adventures in Odyssey Sunday 7:00am Gaither Homecoming`` So Joyce Meyer should be on after 20 UT, but no, more classic rock after 2000 and 2052 check. Unless only 1 minute and I missed her? J.M. is a Bible ministry. Looks like there is an awful lot of unsold g.h. time. I verify that the signal is from E/W, pointing to Miamuh, but there is also a SAH of almost exactly 2 Hz = 120 fades per minute, too weak for any audio even aimed N/S nulling KVIS. The second and third closest 910s to Enid are KINA Salina KS, 500 watts direxional, 273 km = 170 miles to the north; and KATHolic, Frisco TX, 1000 watts direxional, 373 km = 232 miles to the south, both approx., city-to-city. Neither in the MWOffsets roster but KVIS was 0.9 Hz high, over 5 years ago! Miamuh is also 273 km = 170 miles, but per coverage map on website, pulls inward toward those two stations, not meward (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 27, March 8 at 2342 UT, KFOR ``4`` misses about a minute of NBC Afternoonly News. I was watching direct via antenna when it went black and silent, still on the air. By the time I got another set tuned via Optimum cable, it was back. Maybe another solar transit outage in the equinoxial season? If so must be via satellite way out west as we are approaching sunset. STOs were a lot more fun in the Analog Era, when the video would gradually fade into noise (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, Wed March 8 at 2300, token English from SNR, VG into UTwente. 2304 report from Beirut correspondent about International Women`s Day and someone winning an award? What`s this Spain/Lebanon connexion repeatedly? 2307 into major interview about equity, for IWD. 2330 into French, when I get around to checking the other frequencies: 9690 is on, 11685 is on with RTTY QRM into Maryland SDR, but 11940 is OFF. Something`s not right at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.004, March 8 at 2300, NO signal from VOT or anything into UTwente, when VOT English to us is supposed to air. I let it run with offtuned BFO to notify me when anything oncome. That`s at *2309.2, Chinese, XJPBS Urumqi, East Turkistan, std denunciation, in its usual late opening. But still no VOT; until at 2327 I hear the distinct `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Spring` theme, apparently just turned on the air, but the spot is closing, not opening. There are split-second breaks in S9+25/35 transmission occupied by Chinese. Then ``Always By Your Side`` promo, music, and at 2347 another ``ABYS``, music. 2351 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2353 s/off for 1330, 1930 and 0400 broadcasts only = something`s always awry at Ankara. 2354 IS. 2356 restart IS with GERMAN IDs interspersed. 0000 UT March 9, timesignal, s/on German and keeps going until suddenly cut off at 0026* as the sleepyrator must have awakened. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2180 monitoring: ``Hello Glenn, The IRRS MW 1323 kHz relay Sunday night 2100-2130z has been a good and reliable way of hearing WOR here in Central Europe. I attach 2 more short snippets of this past Sunday [March 5] just fyi. Nothing heard on 207 or 918 kHz. At times, a co-channel station beating at a few Hz vs. IRRS fades in and out again, this must be Smooth Radio, Brighton, UK, 500 Watts. When IRRS closes for the night by 2210z, Smooth Radio is in the clear, but way weaker than IRRS. Best regards, SWL Tobias, S. Germany`` ``9395, UNITED STATES, WRMI 0130. World of Radio program. Good, monitored on RS SW-2000629 and indoor wire, stayed steady, strong to the end of the bx at 0200 -- Good Mar. 7 [Tue] (Rick Barton-AZ)`` ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees, Dear Glenn: Confirming World of Radio #2180, congratulations, WRMI: 9395 kHz, 0031, 0046, 0059 (45333), S9 signal, 0059, March 8 UTC 2023 [Wed] (Lemke, Richard -AB)`` Confirmed UT Wednesday March 8 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, VG S9+20/30 into Missouri SDR. Confirmed Wednesday March 8 at 2200 on WBCQ 7489.9; vs heavy storm noise level from a lightning line across north-central TX. It`s a strain merely to recognize my voice under all this. By 2226 I make out a few key words including Vietnam, implying it`s really the correct 2180 WOR. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S [not on air last week] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute by cheque on a US bank to above address; or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, March 8 at 0437, no WTWW despite nominal sked of 0000-0530. Also not heard 9475 since test and then unID carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330v, March 8 at 0437, 1855 and later chex, WLCR/WBCQ still AWOL. What`s wrong? Not a twit from AW about this, but last two entries of March 6 and 4 mention only 7, 6 and 5 MHz frequencies, and these words of wisdom: ``Biden adm going communist. War imminent. This is your big plan? Nuts. Worst leadership since Hitler`` We beg to differ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9275, Wed March 8 at 1855, WMLK is on with EJOM, S9/S7. Someone found it AWOL on Sunday, while its day off is supposed to be SaturSabbathDay. 9265V, meanwhile, neighbor WINB is *really* wobbly now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1130 kHz, March 8 at 1840 UT check, KLEY Wellington KS back to usual programming: DEAD AIR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0111 UT March 9

Wednesday, March 08 2023
** BRAZIL. 11780, March 7 at 0752, RNA already on with music, S9+10, nominally from 0800; 6180 // too at 0802 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 2598 USB, March 7 at 0742 UT, surprisingly strong S9+10 CCG marine weather robotess, while 2749 USB sounding the same, is only S9. These are resp.: VCP-4, 3000 W Placentia NL from 0737; and VCO, 550 watts Sydney NS from 0740, both first broadcasts of a new day (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 6030, March 7 at 0800, ``Radio Televisión Martí`` ID but where`s the video? Again on late maybe all-night vs jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, March 7 at 1609, no signal from RHC which is supposed to run past 1600 middays, but 15140 succeeds. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 15185, March 7 at 1607, S9+10 of dead air or maybe just-barely-modulation, with flutter. Sked at 1600-1630 is Issoudun carrying clandestine Oromiya Public Media in TIG to EAf per EiBi; but Aoki calls it Yamaria Alamakas Radio! Anyhow, it`s failing. Exactly same situation I logged January 26. Is anyone paying attention at ISS or station HQ? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.004, March 7 at 2350, VOT with Turkish song, S9+30/40 into UTwente, so it`s on today altho at 2327 check direct, only a JBA carrier. 2352 s/off of 1330, 1930 and 0400 broadcasts only. 2353 a bit of ID, 2354* uncovering XJPBS, std denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2180 monitoring: confirmed just in time UT Tuesday March 7 at 0158 the 0130 on WRMI 9395, good direct on portable. Next: 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S [not on air last week] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute by cheque on a US bank to above address; or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, March 7 at 0754, 1610 and March 8 at 0002, no signals from WLCR/WBCQ; always off now? Wonder what`s the problem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9380.44 approx., March 7 at 0756, S5/S7 of open carrier. No broadcasts scheduled on 9380 around this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0023 UT March 8

Tuesday, March 07 2023
** CUBA. 11760, March 6 at 0744, S9+10 of dead air except some hum, RHC not turned off again. Nowhere else on 5, 6, 9, 10, 11 or 13 MHz bands. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 6030, 7355 & 7435, March 6 at 0725, again tonight R. Martí is on late, vs heavy jamming on 6030; way over any jam on 7355 & 7435 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GERMANY. 9670, March 6 at 0736, S7/S9 with flutter, harmonious music, 0738 ``A Boy Named Sue``; presumably Channel 292, just filling time as on most of its schedule: https://www.channel292.de/schedule-9670-khz/ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI [and non]. 846 kHz, March 6 at 0643, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati and no others except a JJBBA on 1521 hetting KOKC, quite a mystery as nothing seems likely either TP or TA at this hour. Gary Pence, KM5X, TX, was getting 846 at 0530 via Oahu SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 13, OETA on KETA ``13``, March 7 at 0025 UT, PBS NewsHour during poisoning girls in Iran story, signal goes dark and two more times. At first I blame Optimum cable, of course, but as soon as I switch to antenna direct, also dark, going and coming. And there is no OETA bug in the LR corner. No fading or fuzzing, just off or on. Maybe solar transit outage of network feed? `This the season. Some stations/networx are notorious for living with those rather than coping by alternate satellite feeds (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, March 6 at 2300 for token English, SNR is back on here while off air yesterday, along with all the other three, sufficient 9690 & 11940, insufficient 11685, into Maryland SDR. 2307 feature something about Spanish-Irish cultural initiative, on a street corner, chemists and hot air balloons - if I had kept listening instead of Turking, that might have made more sense (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.001+, March 6 at 2258, S9+40/45, VOT IS & English IDs already overriding BBC OMAN into UTwente. 2300+ timesignal running quite behind SPAIN on another remote. Except for standard recorded announcements, the news and all the features are voiced by the heavily-accented woman. News followed by long sports segment 2314, starting with a survey in France? that people are concerned about high prices and complications in getting Olympic tickets; something about Manchester United. 2318 `Review of the Turkish Press`. 2321 canned salute to S&R workers from abroad. By now JBA CCCCCCI from Xinjiang PBS, std denunciation. 2323 `Feeling Supreme/The Healing Supring` about dill, an herb rich in vitamins and other good things. 2329 music break, more distorted than during talk. 2338 something about food or recipes. 2347 `Did You Know That` copper-working handicrafts date back a myriayear in Anatolia. 2353 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2354 s/off still citing only the 1330, 1930 and 0400 frequencies. 2355.5 IS. 2356.7 German IDs mixed in till cutoff at 2357.7*. Uncovers XJPBS only S9+10/15 at .000 to .001. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2180 monitoring: Missed checking Sunday March 5 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323. Anyone hear it? Confirmed UT Monday March 6 at 0037 the 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+5 into Louisiana SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday March 6 at 0359+ on WBCQ Area 51, 6160, S9 into Maryland SDR. Next: 0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S [not on air last week] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute by cheque on a US bank to above address; or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9475, March 6 at 0737, S6/S7 open carrier, suspect WTWW, as nothing else is scheduled anywhen on 9475 per Aoki & EiBi except 0200-0330 R. Pilipinas. WTWW`s nominal sked is 21-24 UT only, soon to be 20-23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1130 kHz, March 5 circa 2030 UT, notice that KLEY Wellington KS is no longer dead air, undermodulating some rock music. More or less normal 24h later (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1480, March 5 at 1952 UT, dead air from KQAM Wichita and for at least a few minutes. Recheck 2004 remodulating with news, then a medical advice talkshow (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. `Pipedreams`, the 2-hour organ music show, I normally listen to at 18-20 UT Sundays [henceforth 17-19 UT], on the HD2 webcast of WYSU Youngstown OH, https://www.boisestatepublicradio.org/music-radio-schedule but I missed it March 5; so looking for it on another station before or after 04 UT Monday March 6 at http://publicradiofan.com/cgibin/program.pl?programid=508 but tnx to linx to current program schedules, station after station no longer has it at the listed times! Unfortunately, PRF`s huge database is not kept uptodate: that would be a fulltime job in itself, and repeated attempts to contact Kevin Kelly have met with no response. At least it can give us ideas of where to look, and finally I find a station really with Pipedreams at 04-06 UT Mondays [henceforth 03-05 UT], KBSU in Boise ID: https://www.boisestatepublicradio.org/music-radio-schedule if we bring up the classical rather than news or jazz channel. The modulation level is strangely low but sufficient if played at max both there and here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, 7890, 11835, March 6 at 0730, no signals from RV. Gary Pence says 7260 closed at 0659* and then not heard anywhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10020 USB, March 6 at 0730, 2-way in Spanish; not clear if aero comms in aero band. 10122 LSB, March 6 at 0731, 2-way in non English, non Spanish voice. Have been patrolling 10120-10130 area for any more 30m Australian phone hams as supposedly authorized, but nothing closer than this, maybe intruder (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 13666 USB, March 6 at 0747, 2-way in non Spanish, with ``engine noise`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0042 UT March 7

Sunday, March 05 2023
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat March 4 at 2037 I posted to WOR iog: ``[WOR] LRA36 imminent again --- Reminder that LRA36 Antarctica is scheduled to start another 6-hour broadcast shortly at 2100 UT Saturday March 4 on 15475.98 RC USB. Usually is on somewhat earlier with musical prelude. Glenn``
Manuel Méndez, Spain, quickly replied that it came on at *2040, and then many other reports of it, but I did not get it until 2335, S7/S9 into Argentine remote. 2342, Morse code and English: ``CQ, CQ from LU1ZV,`` mentions Feb 24, and apparent replay here of the real ``ham broadcast`` last week on 14336 USB, ``Antarctic Radio Bulletin`` with efemérides for various Feb dates, ``Uniting Voices``. Seems to imply that regular sked of LRA36 will be Wed at 20, Sat at 21 UT. 2359 mottoes, contact info, whatsapp for LU1ZV. March 5 at 0001 autoID in Spanish, music; recheck at 0020 already off: so much for a ``6-hour`` broadcast. Bruce Churchill, listening via VE6JY remote in Edmonton, says carrier cutoff in midsong at 0018:15* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. March 5 at 0747, NO RHCs to be found on 5, 6, 10 or 11 MHz bands; boding ill for Esperanto Sunday at 0800. A carrier on 12120 might have been 2 x 6060, and no other broadcast now on 12120 per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9330, Sun Mar 5 at 0759, Spy Numbers presumably about to end non-daily 0700 transmission; and no sign of WBCQ/WLCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [non]. 6030, 7355, 7435, Sun Mar 5 at 0749, 0806, R. Martí is still on with bigsigs in Spanish, like S9+30/40 with hardly any jamming audible. Had been totally off SW 05-11, or 7435 off at 05-13. Wonder why the stepup now, all night? Cuban jamming had been running already just in case (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** JAPAN. 13860, March 5 at 0744, ballad song and Japanese talk, S8/9+10, another bigsig on 22m besides 13755 NZ: NHK at 0655-0900. HFCC shows 85 degrees for CIRAFs 14 & 16 = Southern Cone of Chile, Argentina, and parts of neighboring countries: that`s 4-6 am local, where there must be a lot of JJ migrant early-risers? Probably also VG to Hawai`i flanking midnight (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KIRITIMATI. 846 kHz, March 5 at 0808, no JBA carrier from R. Kiribati, presumably another silent Sunday; nor any other 9/kHz splits (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, March 4 at 2228, no signal from SNR ME frequency, while the other three are well audible direct: 11940, 9690, 11685. If it`s Sunday, there is no English (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.016, March 4 at 2319, VOT English is on, S9+25/40 into UTwente with fast SAH, presumably from XJPBS closer to on-frequency. At 2321, ``Always by your side`` promo but now reads 5960.004: unclear if TRT axually shifted or is locking onto understation? And song. 2326 salute to foreign Search & Rescue teams. 2328 YL with ``whipping piles``? about how gratitude is the path to happiness. 2333 `ABYS` promo again. 2341 recheck ``VOT always with you`` variation promo, `Turkey`s Geomarked Products`, i.e. apples. I`m trying to monitor ANTARCTICA at same time. 2356 VOT IS is playing before closedown (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2180 monitoring: confirmed Saturday March 4 from 2028 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into nearby SDR. Also confirmed Saturday March 4 at 2230.5 on WRMIs: 5850 S9/S7 direct vs HNL; and // synchronized on 15770, bettter S6/S8. Also confirmed UT Sunday March 5 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/S8 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed UT Sunday March 5 from 0414 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, nearby SDR not available, but respectable S5/S8 into Maryland SDR. Next: 2100 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0400vUT Monday WBCQ Area 51 6160v to WSW 0130 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035 USB [low power] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S [not on air last week] Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support is appreciated; thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a postal MO to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute by cheque on a US bank to above address; or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, March 5 at 0745, JBA presumably really WRMI running all-night on high band with TOMBS: yet amounts to SSOB vs several JBA carriers lower on 15 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835 & 7890, March 5 at 0805, no signals from RV harmonix. Manuel Méndez heard 7260 closing at 0659* but then not heard on any other known frequency. Tony Rogers, BDXC-UK agrees but live stream was working until 1102* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1710 kHz, March 5 at 0810 UT, concluding my 9/kHz split TA/TP bandscan on 1709 USB detects two JBA carriers beating here; usually just one. ** CUBA. 11670 & 11760, March 4 at 0735, no overtime carriers from RHC unlike most madrugadas recently. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NEW ZEALAND. 7242 LSB, March 4 at 0743, unusual call ZM4T making rapid contest contacts with US states specified; sounds like American accent. I failed to note exact frequency on 40m, but later found it at dxheat for this very minute. Lots of info here, including layout diagram of stations, photos: https://www.qrz.com/db/ZM4T ``ZM4T New Zealand flag New Zealand East Coast Contester Hawkes Bay New Zealand We are a contest group, not simply a radio club. Contesting is what binds us together and gets us going. It’s what makes us tick. The group was initially formed and lead by Lee, ZL2AL (SK in 2015). ZM4T is located in Hawke's Bay, 30 minutes South of the cities of Napier & Hastings, New Zealand on the East Coast of the North Island. The location changed in 2015 from 20 km North of Napier where we were guests at a local farm site to the Kiwi-DX-Lodge (ZL3IO). We are now about 3-4 km inland and about 320 m above sea level on a high ridge looking out East across the Pacific Ocean towards North/South America. We participate in many contests as Multi OP team but also in Single Operator classes. We are regulars in world wide contests like WWDX, WPX, WAE, ARRL DX, AA, Oceania DX and many others using SSB, CW & RTTY. Our local members are ZL2MY, ZL2IFB, ZL2WG, ZL3IO, ZL4YL and the occasional guest operators that we always Welcome. Since we moved to the Kiwi-DX-Lodge we can accommodate guest operators incl. their families. It all started in 2006 as ZM2M. In 2009 we changed the call to ZM4T.`` As I was checking for VON & VBTC on 7255 & 7260, I noticed that 40m was crammed with phonehams in the 7100-7250 range, but hardly any activity 7250-7300. Of course, outside Region 2, no hams above 7200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.93, March 4 at 0738, VON dead air at S8/S9, when I hear a ham calling CQ in English while I am listening in AM mode; i.e. he is zero-beat on VON as BFO pretend-AM; but nothing further, no ID caught (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2180 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday March 4 at 0130 on WRMI 5850, VG direct and S9+40/30 into Missouri SDR. Also confirmed UT Saturday March 4 at 0500 on WBCQ Radio Angela, 5130 minus 9 Hz into Maryland SDR = 5129.991, S9/+10. Also confirmed on WRN NAm webcast, Saturday March 4 at 1700. At 1805 I check IRRS 7295 via UTwente: nope, usual rock music altho WOR showed up unexpectedly on Sat Feb 11, not since. (7490v), UT Sat Mar 4 at 0100, WBCQ webcast for `AAAWWW` soon obviously a playback of last week`s prayerful screed by Allan; never mind (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9975, UT Sat Mar 4 at 0300, KVOH is certainly back on after absence 6 nights ago, S9+20/30 with ID just as I tune in & out, saving myself from salvation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12160, Sat Mar 4 at 1800, WWCR-2 listening mainly to webcast: starts saying is returning to air after maintenance, then `The Talking [sic] Machine Show`, the only WWCR produxion worth listening to. At 1817, webcast restarts! while 12160 itself is dead air; totally out of synch. By 1830, 12160 back to usual gospel huxter. At 1834 webcast restarts! TTMS with ``Irish Eyes Are Smiling``. WRecheck at 1852, *another* restart of same at least on the Winamp I have wrunning. And *again* at 1908: music stops, pause, and ``returning to air``. At 1910 I click on the other streaming link, mp3 - and it is gospel huxtering apparently lively. I close and then reopen the Winamp and now it`s `live`, no more Irish Eyes. Something`s wreally wacky at WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re ex-720, how does KDWN manage to be on 101.5, only a translator? Frank Merrill Jr., Chicago, replies on HCDX: ``Glen[n] Hauser's question about KDWN translator (now that KDWN-720 is gone) --- I think that KDWN continues to exist as an HD-2 "primary" on one of the major FM stations, and the FM is merely translating that. That's apparently legal, because I've heard at least one that was doing that. A few years ago I heard a Bonner Springs KS translator on 102.5 as "Comedy 102.5" - and their legal ID as the HD-2 for, I think, the 94.9 biggie. So, yes, they can translate an HD subchannel, and in effect the translator is the "primary" but they're allowed to run it as a translator. Hard-Core-DX mailing list`` Greg Hardison, CA, also replies on WOR iog: ``"...how do they manage that with no AM to relay?..." 101.5 echoes an HD-channel from one of Audacy's full-power FMs, an FCC-legal and widely used method of preserving services such as KDWN & KXST. I wonder if the talker still calls itself "K-Dawn", or even "KDWN", while actually having no per se bonding with the call letters?`` Yes, I later realized that when hearing the clear ``legal`` ID on the YouTube clip. As in WTFDA db, the intermediary is KMXB, i.e. what K268CS relays on 101.5, that is, the HD3 subchannel of KMXB which is a 100 kW on 94.1 licensed to Henderson, not LV. It seems neither FCC nor WTFDA know what`s really programmed on that HD3! HD subchannel info is very deficient; does anyone or anyentity keep track of them? 73, (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, March 4 at 0738, RV is JBA here, despite Gary Pence and Tony Rogers detecting them on 3945, 7890 and 11835 last night. Now at 0734 I could hear nothing on the harmonix. But maybe they are about to use 3945 fundamentally again? Follow-up at 1918 UT March 4 from Tony Rogers, BDXC-UK: ``Radio Vanuatu was heard on 7260 kHz with good reception when checked at 0950 UT this morning (4 March) on the Brisbane KiwiSDR. The emergency broadcast was still in operation with a talk in Bislama about the emergency situation throughout the country. The news followed at 1000 UT (9 pm local time) with reports of damage that the cyclones have caused to the various islands. Checking this evening (4 March) at their usual sign-on time of 1830 (that would be for the start of the Sunday broadcast at 5.30 am local time), there seemed to be no trace of them on shortwave 3945, 5040 or 7260 kHz (or any of the harmonics that are sometimes heard). The live streams for Radio Vanuatu, Paradise FM and Femme Pawa FM were also silent. The RNZ News website was reporting extensive power outages though in Vanuatu. Tony`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7710 USB, March 4 at 0736, JBA 2-way seems like tonal Asian language; one of them is quite lively, and there is a noise burst after each transmission, like relay of FM squelching? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2011 UT March 4
