Glenn Hauser logs October 5, 2025 |

Sunday, October 05 2025
** CUBA. 15230, Oct 5 at 1436, S8 of dead air from RHC; 13780 S6 of DA, or JBM? 11760 S8/S9 of undermod Spanish.
11760, Sun Oct 5 at 1504, RHC with Esperanto theme and s/on S7/S9 into Knoxville SDR, outdated schedule as 08 on 6000?, 16 on 15730? 2230? on something. 13780 not on now, and 15230 still DA. Revamped radiohc.cu website seems to have eliminated any SW frequency info, no OF INTEREST sexion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE [and non]. 7340, Sun Oct 5 at 1542, TDF is still on with MiniTransAt weather broadcast, but by now is in music fill, with ``Mem`ries``, S9+15 into UTwente, and only S5/S6 on // 17545 because Issoudun is too close to UTwente. Is off by 1557 when I hear on 7340 instead, ChiCom martial music, 1600 TS, and presumed Kazakh as scheduled before and after via PBS Xinjiang, Urumqi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** PUERTO RICO. 391 MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0637, DDP audible again, beacon from DoraDo, Puerto Rico airport; once I have turned off some household devices for a marginal reduxion in local noise level (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 11660.019-, Sun Oct 5 at 1640, VOT English, S9+10/25 into UTwente, ``with-you-every-hour`` promo, `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`; 1648 outro, 1649 song. 1652 `Letterbox` with Cemre. Copy is more difficult than usual as internet is choppy, cutting out so I miss some names, etc.
1) Mr. Alex? ---?, Pacific NW USA, listener since 1988, details of multiple logs on 11785 & 7275 takes first 7 minutes. 2) 1659, Christer Brunström, Sweden, is writing articles for ham publication about SWLing. Cemre says TRT believes strongly in SW radio, aware of the shortcomings of internet. 3) 1703, Port Alberni, Canada, listening via W3HFU remote in MD, almost perfect reception, 54555. 4) 1705, Mr. Andres? Siliani?, Stone Hill, ON, Canada. 5) 1708 finally: Ricky Hein, Rapid City SD, continues to complain about reception on 11785, 7275, SINPOs in the ones, uses Etón receiver, likes TV game shows, requests link for webcast but none provided. Asks him not to give up. Cemre saw a report somewhere that TRT was getting some CW QRM, what frequency? Also someone had ham/voice QRM on 7275 -- well, yeah, TRT is an INTRUDER into the W Hemisphere 40m hamband. They should go somewhere above 7300! 1711 wrapup, 1712 theme, ``w-y-e-h`` promo again, and now I see UTwente has it on 11659.995 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2315 monitoring: confirmed Sunday October 5 at 1834 the 1831 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 3975.001+ S9+5 but JBA on 6159.999 with RTTYditty above, both into UTwente.
Also confirmed Sunday October 5 at 1900 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.996-, VG S9+5 into UTwente. Next:
2100 UT Sunday WRMI 15770 to NE; 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 9455 to NW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160 [except Oct 8]; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.
Many thanks to Jim Snow, St Simons Is., Georgia, for a generous check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and says: ``Dear Mr Hauser, I am sending this donation to help continue your great work in promoting our hobby!``

** U S A. 9670 approx., Oct 5 at 1445, huge blob at S9+20, extremely distorted but best readable when tuned in NBFM mode. It`s TOMBS and the mod matches 9930 WTWW, which is only S9 direct and somewhat undermodulated. At 1502 I email: ``George, Now there is a huge distorted blob on 9670 or so, TOMBS modulation matching 9930. 9670 audio clearest when tuning in FM mode! That`s 260 kHz below, but there is no match 260 kHz above which would be 10190, nor anywhere else. I am sure this is interfering with stations such as Channel 292 in Germany on 9670. Before and after 10 am CDT. Advise to fix or turn off. Glenn``
Well, it blox 9670 in N America, but at 1526, UTW is not hearing it, rather ACI from 9675 China. 9670 blob is S9+10 into Knoxville SDR. I`ve kept one receiver on 9670, and by 1602 notice that it and 9930 have been turned off, so George apparently got my message.
At 1829 I email him again: ``Checking at 1:23 pm, back on and same as before. 9670 is actually stronger signal and stronger modulation altho FM distorted, than 9930 is. Awful. 73, Glenn`` -- that is, 9670 is S9+25 direct, and 9930 is only S9 and undermodulated. Still the same at 1927; by a little later, 9670 blob may be reaching Europe. But at 1946, 9670 is gone and 9930 back up to loud & clear (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 385 MCW kHz, Oct 5 at 0635, JBA ND beacon(s), can`t copy clear call and suspect two mixing. One letter somewhere is L. RNA list shows only one close enough and possible with an L is: UWL, New Castle IN, 25 watts. Second most likely is HO, ``Hossy``, Hot Springs AR, 50 watts. I have heard both before. Others in TX, LA, GA, IL less likely, the IL and LA ones not reported lately, while the others have been in September, per RNA listings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13650, Oct 4 at 2351, S9+10/20 of dead air from CRI Portuguese relay of music only for years and years. It would be interesting to compute the total cost of all that waste; how many undernourished Cubans could have been well fed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6955 USB, Oct 4 at 2326, ``Rollin` on the River`` pirate music, S9+10/20 vs S9/+10 NL: Many other logs from 2320 to 2348 only as unID until Konstantin Barsenkov, St Pete, saw MOZILLA Radio image on the waterfall via remote in NC: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,151278.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950 AM, Oct 4 at 2357, JBA pirate music, presumably different station than the one in USB a semihour earlier; nor is it 5 x 1390 local KCRC. Reports here as R. ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO Edmond/OKC, having just completed a pledge drive successfully by 2300 UT Friday Oct 3, expected programming back to normal, such as `Performance Oklahoma` at 1400 UT Saturday Oct 4: great symphonic music playing, but never any announcements, past 1630 - this isn`t even syndicated classical from Minnesota or Chicago. And on and on; finally about 23 UT Oct 4 I hear a mention that they are having technical difficulties, and will return to normal programming ASAP (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** U S A. 15016 USB, 11175 USB, stronger 8992 USB, Oct 4 at 2348, tail end of USAF crypto exercise with reverb, 2349 this is ``Kay-puck`` sounds like, ``out`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2315 monitoring: confirmed Saturday October 4 at 1600 on WRN N America stream, and WRMI 9395 & 7730 both S8 into Knoxville SDR.
Also confirmed Saturday October 4 at 1736 the 1731 on SW Gold Radio, Germany, 6160.000 S9/+18 with ACI from 6165 China in English and RTTYditty; 3975.000 S9+5/10 clear, both into UTwente.
Also confirmed Saturday October 4 at 1938 the 1930 on WRN N American stream, and WRMI 9395, S7 into N9AZZ IL SDR.
Also barely confirmed Saturday October 4 until 2005 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, totally unreadable into N9AZZ IL remote, but recognizably my intonation, and pause for Vanuatu clip at 2002, so started about 1934. Reception improved marginally since then as the Sun lowered slightly.
Also confirmed Saturday October 4 at 2010 the 2000 on WRN Europe stream.
Also confirmed Saturday October 4 at 2114 the 2100 on WRMI 9395, S9+15 into Knoxville SDR.
Also confirmed Saturday October 4 at 2230 on WRMI 15770, S5/S6 but sufficient into Maryland SDR; despite missing a week ago. Not making it at all into UTwente where it`s aimed.
Also confirmed UT Sunday October 5 at 0313 less than 2 minutes into so started circa 0311 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, VG S8/S9 into N9AZZ IL remote - BUT: interrupted by totally obliterating, extremely wideband multitonal signal lasting 13 seconds between 17 second pauses, as heard before. What`s it? Hopefully only something local to Cartersville. No longer happening when I check later at 0358. Next:
1030 UT Sunday WRN via WRMI 7730 7780 9395 9955 [new]; 1830 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 1900 UT Sunday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323; 2100 UT Sunday WRMI 15770 to NE; 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 9455 to NW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast]; 2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323; 2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160 [except Oct 8]; 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

** U S A. 650, Oct 5 at 0042 UT just as I tune in WSM, announces that tomorrow Oct 5 is its 100th ANNIVERSARY! and will be celebrating that all day at the Grand Ole Opry. Then I see info from Mike Cooper about this in the WOR iog:
```From Fayfare's Opry Blog:
``On Sunday October 5, WSM Radio will celebrate its 100th anniversary. In addition to the annual Opry Community Day, which will include an Opry Plaza Party and Opry House tours that will be free to Tennessee residents, there will be a very special Sunday Night Opry that will honor WSM that evening. The show will feature each of the WSM air personalities, along with Opry members Dailey & Vincent, Ketch Secor and Pam Tillis. Also on the schedule are Charlie Worsham, Elizabeth Cook, Tommy Emmanual, Chuck Mead and Chris Scruggs and The Stone Fox Five. That is shaping up to be a big show.``
Here's an article from Billboard last month about WSM's anniversary:
``WSM Turns 100: How One Nashville Station Leaned on Innovation to Make Radio History --- By Tom Roland 9/11/2025
One of the most important storylines in country music in 2025 is the celebration of the Grand Ole Opry's 100th anniversary. But that milestone, which arrives Nov. 25, wouldn't exist without another, earlier centennial: the launch of WSM-AM Nashville on Oct. 5, 1925....`````
https://www.billboard.com/pro/wsm-am-turns-100-radio-station-innovation-grand-ole-opry/ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Re gh 880 Spanish log, previously under UNIDENTIFIED: ``Mauno, your information is correct. KEYH 850 feeds the 105.3 translator. KJOZ 880 is Latino Sports and music, mostly the latter. The La Mejor format on 104.5 doesn’t have an originating station. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)
** U S A. 1460, Oct 5 at 0000 UT, partial ID as 1460 and 96.7 Southward?? Of the 62 stations on 1460 in NRC AM Log, not one correlates with FM on 96.7. But the WTFDA FM DB hits one and it looks very likely: K244FO relay of KHOJ 1460, Crestwood MO, Covenant Radio, a Catholic network. KHOJ is in St Charles, U4 12000/210 W, Heart of Jesus Radio. FCC AMQ still refuses to provide SR/SS tables, but gaisma.com shows SS today at 2339 UT, and about 2325 by mid-Oct, so should be on night power and pattern (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1540, Oct 5 at 0050 UT, KEDA, R. Jalapeño ID after mentioning Linares, which is a town in NL; on N/S antenna only. Is U4 5/1 kW from San Antonio TX. I wonder if the calls allude to ``stay here with us``? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1620, Oct 5 at 0054 UT, ``downtown Omaha``, 402 AC phone, Equitable Bank, 0055 ``1620 the Zone and 101-9 The Keg`` -- i.e. KOOO 101.9 La Vista NE which is an Omaha suburb, 96 kW, with adult hits, hardly a match for a sports format? 1620 being KOZN Bellevue. They are at the same address in Omaha itself and both owned by Nrg License Sub, LLC.
[non] I had remembered there was something new on 1620, altho a bit too early for it, per Tim Hall in ABDX: ``XECSCGU-1620 Guachochi CHIHUAHUA September 29, 2025 --- Methinks they finally bought that new 2 kW transmitter they were saving up for; logged them with a pretty solid signal here at home (south of San Diego) at 0400 UT while testing some of my new gear last night. They were fighting with Rebelde and my local HAR. Logged them again just now (1200 UT) on the Mexican DX Club's SDR putting a good dent in WTAW. So they are definitely getting out. Format is mostly Spanish contemporary Christian music (which can sound like any other kind of music — ranchera, norteña, etc. — you have to listen to the lyrics) and “Creo Radio” liners. If you want to log an extremely rare 7(!)-letter call, I'd suggest you try for this one tonight. 73 Tim`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 869.62 kHz, Oct 5 at 0048, JBA het against WWL, another mystery. Nothing so far off in MWOffsets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 24980 USB, Oct 4 at 2334, KZ + something in Miami FL renders a 59 to some contact. Despite several utterances, I cannot understand the rest of his fonetix: kilo zulu --- fernan ganji ??? KZ5 used to be prefix of `our` Panama Canal Zone (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` chex of WBCQs, Oct 3 at 2351 into NH SDR: 5130 off, 6160 with JBA China? but 3265.186 is on, S9+20 with FKB // 7490 -64 Hz = 7489.936, S9+20; and 9330 is S7/9+5 with WLCR. At 0000 October 4 on 7490-, ``we are world famous`` before WTO theme, still on 3, 7 and 9 MHz, not 5 or 6. ``radio waves going into space``. Sweetie is there on phone. Discusses microphones, still at 0028 when he wonders if this is too boring for Sweetie, as she did not reply at first to a prompt. Says on 5 frequencies tonight, and indeed 5130- & 6160- have come on late, date stamp 3 of October, YOOLF 2023 [sic, slip]. 0055 recheck reading some Free Radio Weekly items, but can`t be this week`s issue which has been delayed until Monday. I`ve been listening on 3265.186 which is just as good at 7389.936. 0100 dead air, 0102 starts `Living by the Sword` with gunfire, instead of Hal Turner. Something else on 5130-, Turner? 7490 is now much weaker and 6160 is off again. As usual, no explanation of these at http://wbcq.com/schedule/ where LBTS appears only at 22-23 Monday on 7490 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 17525, Fri Oct 3 at 2158, no signal from WMLK, altho it`s before sunset starting The Sabbath; which in nearby Lebanon is 2244 UT per gaisma.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 780, UT Sat Oct 4 at 0640, `Stardate` on WBBM: it should be a new one for this date, but we already heard it, about WIMP and dark matter, Lead SD, which was for Oct 3. WBBM always deletes the date at start thinking they can get away with outdated playbacks (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VATICAN [and non]. 17790, Sat Oct 4 at 1449 VR IS & ID, 1450 Tamil following scheduled Hindi. At exactly same time, WRMI IS & ID starts, equally weak signal direct prior to 1500+ broadcast. Vatican stays on 17790 until 1600, OK collision for HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. ``Glenn, regarding Spanish on 880: KJOZ in Conroe, Texas (Houston market) has recently been running a mixture of sports talk and Regional Mexican music. I have only briefly sampled the format and am not sure who produces it, but there is a Spanish language radio production company in Houston that uses “LatinoMax” as part of the branding on its formats, and (I think) a streaming app. Perhaps that is what you are hearing? KJOZ is pretty much all music at night. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas``
I bet that`s it; I was discounting it because of listed SS:REL format; U4 10000/1000 and probably heard a few times before with flexible formats, Day pattern close to ND, night favors SW. Then there`s this:
``It was reported as Latino Sports "música y deportes". It should be the originating station for 104.5 MHz translator, but it isn't, it carries La Mejor instead. La Mejor announces KEYH 850 as originating station, but it isn't, but carries Radio Visión Latina with translator on 105.3 MHz. Or at least was like that some time ago acc. to MW and FM list. Could you please check? Thanks, Mauno`` Ritola - is that unclear? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
Friday, October 03 2025
** CANADA. 6754 USB, Oct 3 at 0618, CHR Trenton Military is JBA, ``Ottawa, Ottawa``, degraded propagation. Also 15034 USB Oct 3 at 1412, ``Greenwood, Greenwood`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [non]. 13605, 11930, 11860, Oct 3 at 1413, R. Martí/La Voz del Trumpismo, is off again during USG shutdown. But at 1852 they are all on, VG into Ft Lauderdale SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO. 610, Oct 3 at 0629, Mexmx over usual dominant KFNZ Kansas City, 0649 ``La Ke Buena`` slogan. This applies to no UStations and one Mexican per IRCA Log: ``XECCBS Zacatecas Fresnillo 10000 -1000 La Ke Buena GRU TVR New station was testing 5/25, on the air by 7/25. //XETGO 1100AM, XHCCFE 91.9FM Fresnillo, and several other FMs. Replaces XEEL, which finished moving to FM years ago`` ``POWERS: "-1" = station power is unknown. Other negative numbers indicate presumed, suspected, or estimated powers. Many of these listings are a result of the fact that stations seldom publicize their night powers, and night powers are often missing from station license documents and construction permits ("CPs")`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** PUERTO RICO. 391 MCW kHz, Oct 3 at 0627 UT, DDP at Dorado ND beacon is JBA vs local noise level of S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5000, Oct 3 at 0621, WWV with Doppler flutter, extremely unusual on this low and close frequency, propagation disturbance. That means carrier frequency is fluxuating sideways, rather than up-and-down strength flutter, which may also occur (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
Many thanks to Jim Snow, St Simons Is., Georgia, for a generous check to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and says: ``Dear Mr Hauser, I am sending this donation to help continue your great work in promoting our hobby! I have been a listener to your program since you first began many years ago. I am 83 years old and have been an SWL and DXer since 1955. Thanks for all you do in these depressing times! Best wishes``
One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5907.2, Oct 3 at 0619, WTWW parasitic spur from S9+20/30 fundamental 5920, match on 5932.8 still undetectable tnx to 5935 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VANUATU. 9960, RV no longer heard here. Ron Howard got reply from station`s Pryce Aptenbel Oct 2: "Hi Ron - Sorry for the brief off-air interruption. There was no power cut — we just had to change the frequency. This has now been completed, and you can receive our signal on 5040 kHz and 7260 kHz until December. Please note that we will update the frequencies again from December through April, and so on, in line with our seasonal schedule." But via NZ remote, Ron was still hearing it at 0859 Oct 2 on 3945 - clip on WOR 2315.
So I`m checking 7260 reactivated for RV, Oct 3 at 0410 -- too early to reach KFS in CA, let alone OK direct, but northernmost KiwiSDR in NZ is getting English, S5/S7 with some hum, woman discussing dugongs, biodiversity in seagrass. 0417 improves to S7/S9 and 0421 ID as an ABC Podcast of Oct 3, `Pacific Beat`.
By 0606, KFS is getting it via NW antenna, music at S5/S7. And at 0616 I have a JBA carrier direct on 7260. We don`t yet have a complete new frequency schedule. Ron Howard replies:
``Thanks, Glenn, for confirming Radio Vanuatu now on 7260 (ex: 9960), assume till 0658* UT. Via Kiwi SDR remotes in NZ, I confirmed now on 5040 (ex: 3945), at 0947 UT and assumed started at *0658`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 810.49, Oct 3 at 0632, JBA carrier hetting WHB 810.0. Tim Hall replies in ABDX: ``Re: the ubiquitous carrier on 810.5 kHz (not actually covered in today's update from Glenn): It's now showing up on my 1200 UT recordings from home (between San Diego and Tijuana). I do not discern any audio. My loop was aimed NW/SE, roughly at Central México. Of the 4 Mexican stations listed, XERB would be in daylight at this hour, XEHT is believed silent (their AM license expired a few years ago), and XEEMM has been noted on the proper frequency per SDR monitoring, so that would leave XERB (apparently running very low power). Domestically, KYTY has been observed on frequency in recent SDR monitoring, so possibly KXOI? 73 Tim``
KXOI: Crane TX U4 1000/500, address in Odessa, just north of Crane, SS:REL `La Nueva Radio Alabanza` per NRC AM Log.
XERB in his IRCA Mexican Log: ``810 XERB QRoo Cozumel 2500 250 Sol Estéreo [89.9], Tu Nuevo Amanecer, Grupo Sipse, Siempre Cerca de Ti 24h POP:E/S/TRO/TLK/VAR - // XHRB 89.9FM. Still active on AM 7/24 (logged by DXer), and still included in 7/25 IFT list. Facebook page now mentions AM again. Early morning show "Tropimañana" includes "rooster" sound effects between songs produced by a novelty store rubber chicken. Station takes a lot of requests, and runs many live and pre-recorded announcements which often recite the station phone number in an unusual manner: 9-87-87-2-0-9-48. info@sol899.com`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Re: ”880, Sept 29 at 0548, Mexmx atop KRVN, whatever, plug app for sounds like “La Pino Max“, or Mas, “en todas partes“. Nothing similar among US stations in NRC AM Log. Usual heard is WIJR Highland IL, La Tremenda. Mexico? IRCA Log shows only one, in Chihua2, and it`s silent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)”
``This isn't much help; but “La Pino Max” sure sounds like it might be “Aquí Nomás,” which is the secondary slogan for stations using the “La Mejor” branding package (it's not necessarily a format) in the US and México, e.g., KSUN-1400, XEHS-540. Unfortunately I don't know of any stations on 880 using this branding. 73 Tim Hall`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
