Logs

** ARGENTINA. 9455, Mon Apr 6 at 2304, RAE via WRMI, not in
Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, or even Spanish, but --- English!
S9+40/45 into Georgia SDR. In multi-lingual ID reel, music, 2306
announcer says they are on 5850 kHz, which they would be if this were
at 2230, but for half an hour? I really haven`t tried to hear it then.
He speaks very conversationally, not like reading a script. 2309 more
music and then a talk until 2321 as about an ecological zone in Bs As.
Music break again. 2327 intro a Norton Lecture at Harvard in 1967y by
Jorge Luís Borges about metaphor in literature, continuing past auto
timesignal at 2330. English was one of his languages, but he speaks
rather haltingly here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA. 5910, still hearing a JBA signal April 6 overnight. Ron
Howard explains: ``Re: [WOR] Colombia: Alcaraván Radio (5910 kHz.) in
English - April 5 (UT) Hi Glenn - Thanks very much to Rafael Rodríguez
R. for his informative reply to my inquiry. Appreciate his help to
understand what is happening at the station. [My bold emphasis -
Ron]{between ** and ** here} "Hi Ron, The signal returned to the air
on March 31st. The transmitter is still being adjusted after repairs.
The format is new, with **100% English-language programming**. For
now, it's Jubilee Bible readings and music; other programs are planned
for later. The decision to implement the new format was made by Martin
Stendall, but it's not clear to me what the objective is. For now, the
name Alcaravan Radio remains the same. Rafael Rodríguez R., Bogotá,
Colombia"`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, April 6 at 0528, RHC S6/S8 deadair except for
windhowl, SAWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** FRANCE. 21680, April 6 at 1846, JBA talk, OSOB: RFI French to
Central Africa at 18-19; per EiBi also in use at 09-10, 12-13, 15-16,
17-18 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. Current frequency usage of SW Radio Gold, Germany, as Andy
reminds me: 6160 only: Fri/Sat/Sun 07-15. Both 6160 & 3975: daily
15-22. 3975 only: daily 22-24 UT. This of course affects the different
WOR times every day of the week (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GUATEMALA. 28500 USB, April 6 at 2214, TG9AHM calling in English,
CQDX, and working someham in Tulsa. QRZ.com: ``TG9AHM Guatemala flag
Guatemala, EMMANUEL H. MIERES G. (Manny), 19 CALLE 10-38 ZONA 11 COL.
MARISCAL, BOSQUES DE MARISCAL, CIUDAD DE GUATEMALA 01011, Guatemala``
- has to charge $ 5 for paper QSLs only due to high postal costs. The
local OG&E high line noise level is now S9+5 on 10m (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 780, April 6 at 1438 UT, KSPI Stillwater is OFF! Leaving
a JBA carrier; a bit late after sunrise for anything else like WBBM,
KKOH, CHQR, WJAG, so maybe an image or a vestige of KSPI QRP, or just
a birdie. Still off at 1843. Under normal conditions I can`t hear the
``Pete 94.3`` translator, which is the ID on 780, back on at next
check 1955 into caradio, music OK but modulation dropouts during
announcements. But next2 check 2223, off again, exposing a JBA
carrier. KSPI is 250 watt daytimer (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785, April 6 at 2159 and still 2211 direct, no trace of a
signal from VOT English. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 410 MCW kHz, April 6 at 0654 UT, BA, 25-watt NDB at BAkalar
IN, copiable off-tuned a sesquikHz below in USB to 408.40. Strange
name for a town there, Turkish? Really at Columbus IN. No, Wikipedia
explains, ``In a formal dedication ceremony held on 13 November 1954,
the Atterbury base was renamed Bakalar Air Force Base in honor of
First Lieutenant John Edmond Bakalar (1920–1944) of the 353d Fighter
Squadron, 354th Fighter Group. Bakalar, a Hammond, Indiana, native was
killed in action 1 September 1944, over France when his North American
P-51D-5 Mustang (AAF Ser. No. 44-13895) crashed.[19][20] His
decorations and awards included the Distinguished Service Cross and
the Purple Heart, both awarded posthumously, and the Air Medal with
six Oak Leaf Clusters.[4]`` - each DX log a potential learning
experience! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 414 MCW kHz, April 6 at 0656 UT, GRN, 25 watt NDB at GoRdoN
NE, JBA vs high local line noise level which abates a bit on higher
beaconband frequencies, while few audible below 400, even fewer below
300. Also a carrier on 419 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2341 monitoring: confirmed Monday

3975.002+ S9+5/10 into UTwente. Next:

2000 UT Tuesday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;
2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;

2330 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Thursday WRMI 5950 to NNW.

Thanks this week to Mike Cooper, Stone Mountain GA, for a generous
check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One my also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, April 6 at 1854, WTWW S9+40 with
overmodulation/distortion, making TOMBS praise songs even more
off-putting than usual; also with the spurs plus/minus ~12.9 kHz
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 940 kHz, April 7 at 0040 UT, British-accented gospel huxter
on huge signal we hear neither in full day nor full night. Of the
nearest ones, this must be KPSZ Des Moines IA, the only REL format, U4
10/5 kW, ``Hope 940``. I remember it as KIOA up until 1996. Day
pattern is skewed toward the SW, while night pattern has tight major
lobe to WNW, notch to the SW.
https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KPSZ&service=AM&h=N
Weakened a bit around 0045, which happens to be the exact SS time
today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1690 kHz, April 6 at 0659 UT, WVON Chicago ID with
disclaimer (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Re: "1440+ & 1460-, Apr 5 at 0257 UT bandscan, again
hearing those matching JBA carriers implying they are spurs out of one
of the 160+ USA 1450 stations. One I measure approx. 1458.4. Wonder if
Tim Hall has found anything further about this from his Border Inn
recordings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)"

Hi Glenn, After two or three unusually busy weeks, I'm back to
reviewing my recordings, and have finally started to do what I should
have done when I first noticed these spurs: I've started a simple grid
(antennas on one axis, hour-of-day on the other), and will start
making note of where these carriers have been appearing in my
recordings. My initial guess is that the spurs will show up (with good
strength) in so many of my recordings as to be of limited use, but
perhaps they will be missing from a few wires and/or hours of day, and
give us a little clue. Conditions were very favorable to northern
states that weekend, and very unfavorable to southern states, so that
may pose a challenge as well. I had northern stations all over my
southern wires in these recordings.

By far the most consistently present station on 1450 across all of my
recordings was KBFS {Belle Fourche SD}, so they remain my initial
prime suspect; however, the fact that the spurs are present on so many
of my recordings could also support your preliminary DF indicating the
station might be closer to me, perhaps in UT or WY. It may take a
while for me to gather enough data to be useful, but I will keep you
posted when I finally have a good sample.

One interesting experiment (which I should also try here at home if I
ever get the time) would be to check for the spurs shortly before the
top of the hour, then if they are present, tune to 1450 and see if you
hear KBFS' "Close Encounters" theme (5 notes) around the top of the
hour. Those 5 notes pierce through the interference like a mini DX
test at the top of every hour. 73 Tim Hall, April 6 (via Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1590, April 6 at 0702 UT, local news mentions Scott
County, no further clues. There are 11 states with a Scott County,
many of them with a 1590, but would have to check each one whether a
1590 be local, near or far. Yet most likely my closest, Kansas, county
in the west, KVGB Great Bend near the center, U2 5/5 kW. I was
checking whether `Ambiente Clásico` WCGO Evanston IL were still
audible, as it`s authorized to double-decimate night power from 2.5 kW
to 24 watts! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS has also been updated April 4:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

** CHINA [and non]. 17490, 17640, 17655, 17665, 17800, 17810, 17890,
April 5 at 0213-0214, JBA carriers mostly with Doppler flutter, likely
China, and slightly stronger one on 17840 sounds Chinese. That last
one listed as CRI Beijing site to S America. In EiBi they all
correlate with some domestic or external service from China except
17810 NHK. See also UnIDs 21645 etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA. 5910, Apr 5 at 0219, S9+10/20 of orchestral music,
interrupted by ``running water`` ute blast. Presumed Alcaraván Radio
as now active. Reported about same time by Ron Howard: ``COLOMBIA.
5910, Alcaraván Radio (presumed), 0153+ UT, April 5, heard via new
Kiwi SDR remote at Tamesis, Colombia; choir singing "We Shall Be
Saved"; from 0157+ was surprised to hear a long reading entirely in
English of the Song of Solomon. My remote audio with one minute of
song and seven of English -
https://app.box.com/s/5x459ch7pb8pbn5qzuwp1iko3pzqi7kv
Ron, Monterey, California`` My next check of 5910 at 0709, S7/S8 of
familiar operatic aria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, April 5 at 0215, S9+20/30 of dead air in Spanish from
R. Rebelde; what else is old? Still at 0655, S9+25/40. SAWA (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9710, April 5 at 0232, S8/S9 of dead air from RHC, English or
Spanish? At 0250 trace? of modulation, Spanish? Or is it an
understation? Nothing else scheduled now. Still at 0708, S9+20 of DA.
SAWA. Or are they really conveying some inaudible intelligence? Surely
not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, April 5 at 0251, S9+10 of dead air from RHC; still DA
with windhowl at 0703, S9+25/35, Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 7335, 7365, 7435, April 5 at 0252, R. Martí on three 7
MHz frequencies at once, unusual, instead of one or two at a time; and
also 6030; overkill? Cuba is still not bothering to jam it at all;
would rather run dead air on RHC, Rebelde channels (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** JAPAN. 21500, April 5 at 0208, non-Chinese talk, with Doppler
flutter -- it`s the new NHK Japanese for CIRAF 14 & 16, direct from
Yamata at 02-04, 81 degrees, replacing the France relay at same time
on 6105 which was as good as a N American service, but no English.
Quite weak on 21500, but nice to see a rare 13m broadcast to anywhere
in the WHem (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** JAPAN. 15280, April 5 at 0700, 3+1 timesignal, final pip higher and
resounding, and Japanese. It`s NHK for SE Asia (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** MALAYSIA. 15295, April 5 at 0701, JBA carrier, maybe RTM Nasional
FM. Have had a hard time hearing this direct. Could also be CNR
jam/SOH (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. `Mediawatch` is not on the RNZ/RNZI/RNZP schedule for
2106 UT Saturday April 4, which should be its time shifted back to
standard; so I monitor the webcast. They say it`s off for this
holiday week, but will resume next week; on 17675, so likewise Sunday
at 1010 on 9700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, Apr 5 at 0702, RNZP S9+20/25 talking about
Easter. Now the daily 07-11 frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7440, Sun Apr 5 at 1450, JBA carrier, and no 9700,
unlike past two days during this block, back where RNZP supposed to be
per own sked, but quite a loss for beyondhearers (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935 AM, Apr 5 at 0222, ``pumping`` music, S9+20,
off by 0233 when similar thing heard on 9980 DSB; these say 6935 AM is
Liquid Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,161319.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6915 AM, Apr 5 at 0223, S9+10 pirate music. These
say it`s R. Free Euphonia:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,161320.0.html
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,161329.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 9980 DSB, Apr 5 at 0233, S9+20/30 of ``pumping``
music like what was just on 6935 AM, now off. This signal is very
unusual: LSB and USB, but NO carrier! Upon first hitting it I wondered
if WWCR had reactivated a transmitter on this ex-frequency. By next
check 0237 it`s moved again to 9975 USB only. Still same at 0248. Many
reports earlier from 2213, no 9980 but until 0116 of 9965/9975, as
unID but some think it`s Mix Radio:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,161311.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930 USB, April 5 at 0234, ``Bunny not Funny`` song
S9+20, ID as Radio Bunny. Other reports of Easter show:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,161323.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11790, April 5 at 0705, S7/S9 Romanian talk, news? with
sounders. This RRI hour is Sundays only from Galbeni to Mideast. Lang
ID tip: frequent ``she`` which means ``and`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.005, April 4 at 2233, poor S7/S9 into UTwente, seems
like Turkish music, 2237 talk maybe in English; 2239 familiar sounder;
2247 recognizable multi-lingual ID filler reel, 2254 IS and off. Prop
over Europe really degraded; K index at 21 was 3.67, with G2/R2 storms
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11660, Sun Apr 5 at 1637, no VOT signal into UTwente or
Hyderabad, India, so no early monitoring of the `Letterbox` this week
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9750.018, Sun Apr 5 at 1840 t/in, VOT English S9+35/50 into
UTwente, I catch the second repeat of `Letterbox` which has already
started into first one, Ricky Hein in Rapid City SD, as ever,
complaining about reception: 11785 at 22-23 is SINPO 11111 with QRM
from something on 11780 {Brasil, of course}; and 7275 at 03-04 is no
good for him either, SINPO 15111. As usual, Cemre says this has been
passed on to Emirler and they are looking into it. 2) Mr. S--
Makunda?, Birmingham UK, 11780 is 45444 for him. 3) Mohammed
Breyel, near KL, Malaysia, for 11660 at 1635, QSL? Again I raise the
question whether this is the same DXer known as Timm Breyel there, or
are they related? I can`t be sure if Moh. spells surname same way,
never seen, only heard it. 4) Chris Malbuff? or something like that,
Port Alberni BC, listened via UTwente to 9750 but OTHR QRM from 9740.
5) Siddartha Pattajarjee?, W Bengal, is 24 March celebrated as World
TB Day in Turkey? It is observed. How many TB cases, 10-11K per year!
1853 ending, 1854 theme, 1855 multi-lingual ID filler reel (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2341 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
April 4 at 1935 the now 1930 on WRN via WRMI 9395, S5/S7 into Maryland
SDR.

As usual and I fear for the rest of spring/summer, cannot confirm
nominal 1930 Sat Apr 4 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, as none of the remotes
nearby, not even the one in St Louis, can hear it above the rather
extreme daytime noise levels.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 2000 on WRN Europe stream.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 2100 on WRMI 9395, immediately
following a DXtra.com commercial by Jeff White. Note: an example of
why I open and close each WOR with ``standard disclaimer`` -- I have
nothing to do with adjacent commercials; or any other opinions.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 2230 on WRMI 15770, S7/9+5, and
17790, S9+10, both into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 2357 the 2330 on
IRRS/NEXUS/IPAR/IBA webcast only, an hour earlier than during winter
time.

Also confirmed UT Sunday April 5 at 0314 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO,
already a few minutes into; ARRL news had started at 0301, S9+10, so
wasn`t expecting WOR earlier than 0315.

Also confirmed Sunday April 5 at 0656 the 0630 on WRN via WRMI, 5850,
S9+30 and 7780, S7/9+5, but no others.

Not confirmed Sunday April 5 at 0930 on IRRS via Romania, 9510; nor
was expecting to but happened to awaken so checked. It was confirmed
last week by Rumen Pankov, Bulgaria.

Also confirmed Sunday April 5 at 1900 on IRRS SW via AM Italia,
1322.996-, S9 into UTwente, immediately after 7290 s/off announcement.
Next:

2000 UT Sunday IRRS SW via AM Italia 1323;

2300 UT Monday WRMI 9395 to NNW;

** U S A. 5800, UT Sun Apr 5 at 0216, WRMI-11 talking about ICOM
America and ARRL; i.e. `CQ Calling` show on System D (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5907.1 & 5932.9 approx., matching spurs from 5920 WTWW +/-
12.9 kHz, so it`s the same transmitter which spews these from 5085 and
sometimes 9930. The upper one is severely QRMed by 5935 WWCR splash
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9917.16 & 9942.84 approx., matching spurs out of 9930 WTWW
with TOMBS, some modulation, April 5 at 1444. This is the #2
transmitter instead of the usual #1 which doesn`t provide such spurs.
These are only S7/S9 while fundamental 9930 is S9+40/45. George says
#1 was down due to a water leak, but soon to be resumed (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9265, Apr 5 at 0228, no signal from WINB; rather early to be
off? Own sked shows `Moment of Truth` starting at 0230 for a
sesquihour, then last program `Worship at Home` from 0400 with no
endtime. Maybe it`s an Easter thing. 9275 also off: After Saturday
sunset = UT Sunday, their Sabbath is over, but WMLK is never in a
hurry to get working, back onto the air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1440+ & 1460-, Apr 5 at 0257 UT bandscan, again hearing
those matching JBA carriers implying they are spurs out of one of the
160+ USA 1450 stations. One I measure approx. 1458.4. Wonder if Tim
Hall has found anything further about this from his Border Inn
recordings (Glenn Hauser,OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9177-9201 approx, April 5 at 0706, huge wideband
multi-carrier, multi-tones beating against each other, peaking S9+20
amid, but totally cutting off and on. What is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9684, Apr 5 at 0232, RTTY warble INTRUDING. At 0249, JBA
carrier with Doppler flutter, maybe the same RTTY now idling (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21645, 21725, 25695, April 5 at 0210-0212 JBA carriers
with Doppler flutter. None of these in A26 HFCC, so I bet they be CNR1
jammers vs Sound of Hope. Aoki and EiBi agree at least about 21645.
This was as I was getting R. Japan on 21500, q.v. See also numerous
ChiComs on 17 MHz band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** CUBA. 5025, April 4 at 0635, no signal from R. Rebelde, failing
even to provide dead air! Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MALI. 5995, April 4 at 0630, ORTM is on again after missing a few
days. Others also report some but not all of the CRI relays are back
on air. What happened? Would like to hear/confirm token English for a
few minutes Saturday around 1850 on 5995, but no nearby Kiwis now, not
even Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, which used to get it. Wait, there
it is now, EA8/DF4UE. I guess its activity depends on when the German
ham be visiting. The display is very different from other Kiwis. At
1735, ORTM is VG still on day frequency 9635. At 1759 ID in French and
off*; about *1759.5, 5995 comes on with music, but drops off at 1801.
Next check at 1825 is on with music and het of about 1 kHz, from?
Retune at 1847 anticipating English circa 1850, so drops off air again
at 1851* just in time to disavailablize English, if any! Off until
*1900 sharp back on with music, 1902 ID in French with FM frequency
only, music, another offage 1904*-*1908 music, 1908 another French ID
only for FM four-score-and twelve MHz. Even while off, the `het` is
still heard, or rather a tone, but nothing else is listed around now
on 5995 in Aoki, EiBi, HFCC. In HFCC not even ORTM but the CRI relays
are. So much for that (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 9700, Sat Apr 4 at 1453 past 1500, S7/S9 in English,
so RNZP again here contrary to own sked. By 1625 check of KFS on SW
antenna, it`s off, but rather on 7440 with good S7/S9 signal in
strange choral music. Own websked shows 7440 going to 9700 at 1551,
not the other way around! Something`s really wrong at Rangitaiki, NZ
is about to go off summer time, back to UT plus only 12, so that may
entail more transmission changes, certainly shifts in programmme
times; like `Mediawatch` at 2106 UT Sat on 17675, ex-2006 on 15720
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. Follow-up on tornado coverage, UT Sat April 4 from 0325;
by now the tornado risk has moved eastward from OKC. BTW, ``Fox 25``
KOKH, was also doing tornado coverage, but did not find any radio
stations relaying it; always #4 in the market. RF 24, cable 8 in Enid.
93.3 is on but weak with KWTV
93.7 KSPI Stillwater NWS
96.9 back to talk
98.1 back to ESPN
98.9 music
100.5 music
101.9 music
102.7 music
104.1 music
106.7 music
107.7 still on KWTV
1520 KOKC at 0331 dead air, 0332 talk. BTW, I see that the cheater
which used to QRM it, KOLM Rochester MN, is gone.
After 0335 UT, forget about late shows on NBC, ABC or CBS -- KFOR,
KOCO and KWTV are still wall-to-wall tornadic. They are all reruns
anyway on a Friday, especially a holyday. KWTV however sloughs off
Colbert/CBS to its secondary outlet, KSBI RF 23, virtual 52, cable 16
in Enid. KFOR and KOCO also own plenty of minor cable channels but I
don`t see NBC or ABC moved onto them (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2341 monitoring: confirmed UT
Saturday April 4 at 0300 on WTWW 5085, many tnx to Bob Biermann for
getting it loaded remotely into the automation, and George McClintock
for getting the operators to turn on that transmitter. After BB`s own
`Truth2Ponder`, 0259 ID as Ancient Word Radio, WTWW, S9+20/35 into
Georgia SDR; a bit rough into WOR transition and some audio dropouts
at first, but stayed on air, then with 0329 music and turnoff at
0331*.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 0957 the 0930 on WRMI 7570, still
wrongly shown as 9455 along with many other programs on the WRMI
skedgrid.

Not confirmed Sat Apr 4 at 1450 on SW Radio Gold, Germany into
UTwente, instead Texas Radio Shortwave about Sly Stone, as now shown
on the SWRG program sked for this date at 1400-1500. On Sat Apr 11,
WOR should be back at 1430. TRSW preemption is monthly?

Confirmed Saturday April 4 at 1530 on WRMI 9955, S9+10 into Knoxville
SDR.

Also confirmed Saturday April 4 at 1600 on WRN via WRMI 9395, S9+5/15
into Knoxville; immediately preceded by a plug/commercial voiced by
Jeff for DXtra.com. Listed as // 7730, but apparently still off the
air, not a trace into Miramar which used to get it, nor any other
Florida KiwiSDR. Geez, I still had this at 1700 on the lineup in last
report. Hope I did not miss any other timeshifts. Next:

Thanks this week to Mike Cooper, Stone Mountain GA, for a generous
check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One my also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 890, April 4 at 0609 UT, weak signals here, not sure what,
but something is very wrong at WLS Chicago, as the other major clears,
670, 720 and 780 are inbooming as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1700 kHz, April 4 at 0615 UT, incredibly half-speed and
half-pitch music and talk, hard to understand or even whether it`s
Spanish but I think English. Must be KKLF Richardson TX which is
dominant when on. Is this reel-to-reel tape at 7.5 ips mistakenly
played at 3.75? It could be even less than half, hard to tell. Of
course it`s now possible to speed up or slow down recorded playbacks
while maintaining the proper pitch! This goes on and on past 0633. I
hear San Antonio mentioned at 0620. Maybe being fed thus out of
Jalapeño group flagship KEDA 1540? Really incredible, no one paying
attention, but me? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VENEZUELA. 4940, April 4 at 0335, Estación 4940 is back on air but
JBA, not unusual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Logs
** OKLAHOMA. Tornado hitting southern OKC: the local TV channels have
blown away all commercial network progrqmming all evening. Around 0200
UT Sat Apr 4 I survey which FM stations are plugged into which TV
stations. Some may have been missed, but on a portable seem off the
air. Some TV coverage is automatically interrupted for NWS warnings.
89.7 The House, not based in OKC; KFOR
Most other gospel huxters ignoring the crisis!
91.7 KOSU, NWS only? amid The Spy music
92.5 KWTV
93.3 off?
94.7 KFOR
96.1 KFOR, later back to music
96.9 KOCO - the only one on that?
98.1 off?
98.9 music
99.7 Mustang, C&W first, then KOCO?
100.5 off?
101.9 NWS
102.7 KFOR
104.1 KWTV
105.3 deadair
106.7 off?
107.7 KWTV
around 0230 UT I try MW band on portable, not much audible in storm
noise but:
1000 KFOR
800 Bott not weather. These are quick & dirty obs; maybe more later
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. From Doug Smith`s FCC info in April Line Of Sight, WTFDA:
``OK Oklahoma City K17JN 17 (17) Granted move from Enid; 15kw/140m,
35-24-54/97-30-38.``
So it will eventually become invisible in Enid, even if on the air,
leaving us with no local TV signals; will it still be multi-channel
3ABN? Another translator, which AFAIK has never really been on air in
Enid, at least I`ve not seen it, is moving to Wichita!:
``KS Wichita K25RD 25 (19) Granted move from K32MG Enid, Okla.;
15kw/148m, 37-20-08/97-27-54.`` One might wonder what`s the point?
Apparently preferable to move something licensed than start over from
scratch, even tho a different channel and different call. Also
different equipment? Some other such license-moves are even
trans-continental. One other strange item: KSBI RF23 is already too
weak, compared to KFOR RF27, KWTV RF25 and KOKH RF24 OKC which are
solid into Enid, but KSBI is normally BAD:
``OK Oklahoma City KSBI 23 (52) Requests power reduction to 540kw.
Granted`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.004-, April 3 at 2158, VOT IS & IDs, JBA into UTwente
and displaying as 11784.9821 not locking in. But at 2201 when retuned
and measured, S7/9+5 into UTwente -- BUT at 2238 recheck, it`s OFF!
Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2341 monitoring: confirmed Friday
April 3 at 2035 the 2030 on IRRS SW via AM Italia 1322.996+, S7/S9
into UTwente.

Also confirmed Friday April 3 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, S9/+20 into
Georgia SDR. Since not aired at 1300, this becomes the first SW
airing, at least this week.

Also confirmed Friday April 3 at 2239 the 2230 on Shortwave Radio
Gold, Germany, 3975.003-, JBA into UTwente, S8/S9 into recommended
Barney`s Bedford UK SDR.

>From his hospital bed after surgery, Bob Biermann has diligently
loaded WOR 2341 remotely into the automation for WTWW, should 5085 be
on air UT Saturday at 0300. Then George McClintock notifies me at 0021
UT Sat Apr 4 that 5085 *is* on tonight -- but not hearing it yet by
0100 or even 0200, something else wrong, or not to turn on much before
0300 WOR time? 5085 finally came on about 0215. George had a problem
getting the live-in transmitter site family to turn it on! But WOR
should run at 0300. Next:

** U S A. 9455, April 3 at 2159, this WRMI is OFF, no signal direct
nor into Georgia SDR; yet 9955 is OK with WOR. 9455 still off at
further chex, until 2338 UT ON with stupid ballgame in Spanish.
Supposedly RAE in Portuguese this hour on Fridays, but this must be R.
Nacional domestic relay; indeed such an ID during game at 2342. Chop
at 2359.5 for WRMI ID, DA and then something else (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 5130 -66 Hz = 5129.934, Apr 3 at 2355, this WBCQ is on with
`The Planet` IS & ID loop, S9+15/20; same on 6160 -72 Hz = 6159.928,
S9+10/20. Running both of those foreshadows a new AAAWWW be imminent.
3265 as usual not on, nor 9330. 7490 -54 Hz = 7489.946 with FKB,
S9+18/33, all into Vermont SDR. I keep listening to 7490-, from 0000
UT Sat Apr 4, `WTO` theme, first interjexion ``Heart``; later, starts
with ``Heart and soul of electronic media, ladies and gentlemen, is
good old radio...``. First talking about college radio, carrier
current, some still exist, then 10 watts on non-comm educational band
88.1-91.9 MHz, seeing a revival of that. 0021 datestamp as 3 April
YOOLF 2026, trimulcasting on 7, 6, 5. 0032 song. 0040 has a request
from Dominic for a song by Tom Petty. Goes over some of the great
programs on BCQ, times EDT of course: Wed 10-11 pm, Hello World Radio.
Thu 10-11 pm Upstream. Sun 5-6 pm Marion`s Attic. Sun 8-9 pm Let
There Be Light. Music? Tue 7-8 pm Alan Sane. Tue 8-9 pm Transmitter
42. Hal Turner left, don`t know why, replaced by Living By the Sword,
now gone too? Keeping 9-10 pm M-F on 7490 open, wanting a 5-day strip
of a music or news show. Meanwhile filling with AAAWWW repeats; but
Jason at Monticello is welcome to drop in some of his `Rockwave`
shows. World of Radio: ``Glenn Hauser is still chugging along, God
bless you``, Wed 5 pm. Ham show Thu at 5-7 pm. Behaviour Night, Fri
5-6 pm with Sir Scratchy. 0051 finally plays the Tom Petty song
request, ``The Last DJ``. 0053 datestamp again 3 April YOOLF 2026,
from Deland of Fla where it`s 73 degrees, humidity 75%. 0059 prayer,
ID. 0100 music which at 0101 is named Rockwave (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
