Glenn Hauser logs April 27-28-29, 2025  View Printable Version
Tuesday, April 29 2025

Logs
** COLOMBIA [and non]. 28493 USB, Apr 28 at 2204, QSO in Spanish
between HJ6UMR and LU1VZ, tnx for the fonetix, axually get to hear
both sides. One topic: satellite communications. QRZ.com:

``HJ6UMR Colombia flag Colombia, MANUEL ANTONIO CAMPUZANO ORTIZ. CL
159 7 74 AP APTO 1814. (4.735765-74.034975-FJ24PH BOGOTÁ D.C. - BOGOTÁ
D.C Colombia`` [sic: apparently his G.C. and gridsquare are part of
his postal address] and:

``LU1VZ Argentina flag Argentina, Radio Club Bariloche, Cdte. Luis
Piedrabuena 5560, BARILOCHE (8403), RN, Argentina, For more
information: http://radioclubbariloche.ar``
but it does not connect. Also had a DU accent in English on 28570 USB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925 USB, Apr 28 at 0242, pirate music at S9 = noise
level. Many logs here as WDOG, with playlists:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,144163.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OMAN. 15310, Apr 28 at 2217, news about Palestine by W&M sounds
like BBCWS, S7/S9 with flutter. Yes: relay at 22-24 daily (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 11935, Apr 28 at 1519, still no signal from Rep. of
Yemen Radio; yet Rick Barton, AZ was hearing Arabic Apr 27 at 1430;
sporadic? HFCC shows a res by RAM for something NEW at 1500-1600, 110
degrees, 300 kW from MOLDOVA. RAM = Radio-Agency-M, broker for KCH and
TAC Uzbekistan sites (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17715, 15520, 15500, 15390, Apr 28 at 2058, REE completely
off the air, due to huge power failure in Iberia, checked into
Maryland SDR. At 2159 direct, still nothing. John Figliozzi, however,
reports they were still streaming but with a domestic network at 2200
instead of Monday English, however with French at 2230 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9875.005+, Sun Apr 27 at 2046, VOT English not
off the air, S9+15/25 into UTwente, ending `The Pulse of Turkish
Foreign Policy`, music. 2050 multi-lingual ID filler reel. 2053
starting `Letterbox`, hostess Seher Cemre Turan, name provided by Alan
Holder, starts musing about spring, but it`s either rainy or cloudy.
4/23 is some Children`s Day, but dumps off the air at 2054* before she
gets to any mail; and does not return. By 2106 I`m hearing weak
Chinese: that would be VOK in Mandarin from 2100 per EiBi. I`m set to
resume Lbox at 2225 on 11785 but that is also OFF the air again today.
Somethings always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.006+, Apr 28 at 2200, VOT not off the air, better
than usual direct, S9/+10 but still insuff for armchair listening.
S/on as if it`s 1230 on 17620, into olds. At 2238 into UTwente when
measured, mostly music S9+30. By 2243 ``always-by-your-side`` promo,
now S9+40. 2253 s/off still pretending it`s the 1230 on 17620.
Something`s always awry at Ankara. 2254 IS to 2255* (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2292 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
April 27 from 2131 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S8/S9 into
UTwente, and also on 6160.001-, S9/+5 but with 6164 RTTYditty which
must be avoided by LSB tuning and/or narrowed bandwidth.

Also confirmed Sunday April 27 at 2334 the 2330 on WRMI 9455, S9+18/22
into N9AZZ remote in IL, while 7780 is off, and 7570 is something
else! Into S Texas SDR, 7780 is also off, but 9455 also inaudible!
while 7570 is TOMBS. Sked is totally upmixed, claiming WOR at 2330
Sunday be on 7570 only.

Also confirmed UT Monday April 28 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+10 into
Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday April 28 at 0300 on Area 51 webcast only,
while WBCQ 5130v has switched to music.

Also confirmed Monday April 28 at 1930 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.003,
by recording so 6160 not checked; at 2030, 3975 rates S9/+10; all into
UTwente. Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW;
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast];
2000 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy;
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

Financial support appreciated for our non-commercial public
service program: thanks for a generous contribution from Dan Sheedy,
Encinitas, California, ``Hey Glenn, big thanx 2 ya for all your
efforts keeping DX  info up 2 date - Cheers from the beach,
Dan -- PS stay safe, strong & may we all survive `25!`` - to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9930, Apr 28 at 2224, WTWW is S9+50/60 with TOMBS, also some
modulation audible on parasitic spurs 9917.1 & 9942.9, but no splatter
beyond; same huge signal on 9980 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Apr 28 at 2219, S9+10/20 of dead air, or maybe trace
of mod? WRMI-9 is supposed to be R. Taiwán Internacional on System H (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, Apr 28 at 2333 check, WRMI-13 is still off, like it
was yesterday when WOR might have aired. Xmtr skedgrid shows on air
only at 00-04, which could be currently correct. For months it had
been coming up at 2300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1590, Apr 28 at 0634 Mexmx and ID as ``Ambiente Clásico
Radio``, so it`s WCGO Evanston IL, as heard last September 3 at 0707.
It`s not 100% with this slogan, nor even 100% Spanish; and surely my
unID of Apr 22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 9960, Apr 28 at 0559, JBA carrier so RV is back on. Ron
Howard replied to my yesterday report of its offness: it seems that
VBTC is notified about outages by him before any one of the 335,169
Vanuatuans!

``Hi Glenn - Here is the reply to my email (received 2144 UT, April
27) and my subsequent log:

"Hi Ron, Thank you for that. If you have time today can you check
again please.
Thanks, Warren Robert

- - - - - - My remote log via NZ: April 27, at 2158 UT, heard Radio
Vanuatu on 9960, back on the air again; Whitney Houston singing "Where
Do Broken Hearts Go" and weather report; was in French at 2215. Nice

confirming reception. Ron, Monterey, Calif.``

UNIDENTIFIED. 771 kHz, Apr 28 at 0247 UT, JBA carrier making het with
770.0, KKOB or whatever. Another Cuban anomaly, like 1141? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1200 kHz, Apr 28 at 0627 UT, praise music in English
overcomes WOAI. NRC AM Log most likelies: WMUZ Taylor MI U4 50/15 kW;

lobes, but KFNW has a lesser daytime lobe southward (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1590, Apr 28 at 0622 UT, mention in English of ``630
CJAB`` sounds like. There is no CJAB on 630 or anywhere on MW, maybe
CHED? But no Canadians on 1590. May have been something else
completely, commercial, not callsign. This was just before WCGO log in
Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

From now and for an unknowntime, at least for 3 years, I will not use any radio except the remote SDRs forDXing. Recently we moved from the village back to the city in a space thatprohibits the use of desktop DXing, a place flooded by high levels of noise inthe LMHF bands. The radio is now used mostly for FM, for news listening.we runpolitically lively condition with always very interesting twits every day ..

including:

it`s Spanish with a Romanian language lesson. This hour only is RRI
Spanish, 300 kW at 310 degrees from Galbeni (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.006+, Apr 26 at 2207 first check, VOT JBA but on the
air. At 2212 into UTwente, when measured, S9+25/35. By 2257 still on
air with German IDs interspersed with IS. 2300 timesignal and s/on
extraneous German, but chop at 2301* Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2292 monitoring: ``Thank you for
World of Radio -- Hansjörg Biener. 250426 3975 1750 D SWR, E (//6160),
Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio 35433 HjBi``

Also confirmed Saturday April 26 at 1730 on SW Radio, Germany,
6160.000, and 3975.001-, both S9+10 into UTwente.

Not confirmed Sat Apr 26 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, since nearby remote
is offline; checked closest alternatives in IL, IA, and MO between
1900 and 2030 for the 1930v, just high noise, altho with max blanking
Carterville IL gets something like talking.

Confirmed Saturday April 26 at 1930 on WRN North America webcast.

Confirmed NEW time, Saturday April 26 at 2237 the 2230 on WRMI 15770,
S3/S5 direct, but listed // 7730 is JBA carrier only. At 2246 into
Maryland SDR, 7730 is NOT WOR, but Supreme Master TV. Skedgrid again
is self-contradictory: transmitter grid atop shows WRMI-2 on 7730 with
SMTV this hour, and WRMI-9 on 15770 with TOMBS! Only the pink System H
program grid below shows WOR Sat at 2230 on both those frequencies.

Also confirmed UT Sunday April 27 at 0424 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, about 13
minutes into so started circa 0411 almost an hour later than nominal
0315v, S8/S9 into N9AZZ remote in Carterville IL as nearby Warrenton
MO is still absent, and Godfrey IL is NG, nothing but noise. Earlier,
Houston AMSAT net nom. 0200 did not start until 0302, following `QSO
Today`. Next:

2130 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW; 9455 to NW; or 7570?;
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW;

woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WTWW situation from George McClintock circa 22 UT Apr 26:
9930 back on air after some corona goop arrived to apply to insulators
which were arcing. Had been absent for two or three days. I check here
at 2206, and find 9930 with TOMBS is S9+40/45, but without the
splatter we had been getting: maybe that was caused by the arcing. The
plus/minus 12.9 kHz spurs are still there but JBA carriers only. He
also says the Harris SW100 transmitter has been sold to someone who
wants to go on SW, somewhere unspecified, but does not have a CP yet.
The live-in operator at the site has now moved in along with his wife.
The gate to the property is soon to be upgraded to automatic. Someone
else is still consulting on getting the other transmitter back on the
air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1480, April 27 at 0320 UT, Vietnamese, and also 1560 in
Vietnamese, but definitely not //, one OM,
other YL, or music. 1480 is KNGO Dallas, U4 50/1.9 kW; 1560 is KGOW
Bellaire TX, U4 46/15 kW, both the only two members of the Group,
besides a translator, `Viet Radio` as defined by NRC AM Log. Website
certainly implies they are //, Houston being primary:

** VANUATU. 9960, Apr 27 at 0545, RV again missing from 9960, nor
7260, 5040, 7890. Ron Howard replies to my previous report: ``Hi
Glenn, April 26 also noticed the absence of Radio Vanuatu. April 27,
via various remotes, when checking at 0415 UT, on 2485, 3945, 5040,
7260 or 9960, found no Vanuatu signal. Have contacted the station!
Ron, Monterey, Calif.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1130, Apr 27 at 0340 UT, tone of about 700 Hz mixing
with KLEY/KWKH, rock/stupid sports talk, so a third station? then 0342
drops to 670 Hz or so and disappears. I was hoping for a satellite
feed filler ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11935.0, Apr 27 at 1455, JBA carrier direct. Could Yemen
via Saudi be back? Not checked UTwente until 1538, nothing. Nor
anything at this hour in Aoki or EiBi, but HFCC as of Apr 25 has an
entry, quite possibly wooden:

TIPS FOR RATIONAL LIVING

DOONESBURY is back in the Enid News & Eagle Sun Apr 27: apparently
CNHI censorship of this is not permanent. This one can hardly be
construed as critical of His Magasty; about UFOs. The first two panels
are skipped; I`ve noticed this happening with some other strips which
seem to be configured so that the first two panels are optional. The
current one appears here only for a while:
