** ALASKA [non]. 13760, Jan 6 at 0213, lively song, of praise? almost
like it`s looping; 0215 Today`s -something, evangelizing mentioning
bible, faith in god; 0218 US PO Box address. S9 and the SSOB, yea OSOB
on 22m. EiBi says this is African Pathways Radio, via MADAGASCAR, for
S Asia. That makes no sense! This is in plain American accents, no
African accents used by APR. But no S Asian accents either.

This has been a confusing situation for some time, perhaps World
Christian Broadcasting not without blame. Aoki, OTH, says it`s W.C.B,
no target. Neither gives azimuths, but HFCC shows 40 degrees for
CIRAFs 41 and 42S = S. Asia. That angle means we are close to off the
side from it thisaway, yet MWV has that huge transequatorial
propagational advantage. It must be blasting in the boresight. All
sources agree there is a second hour at exactly same parameters,
0300-0400; repeat of same daily content, or different?

For convenience via an Illinois remote at 0254 I recheck during the
wacko `Creation Moment`, then 0255 ``Your New Life Station`` with its
Friday program, hours and ``best`` frequencies. In the Pacific: 6075
at 08, 9680 at 10, 9580 & 9625 at 12, 6110 at 14. In India, 13760 at
02 & 03, says Rob Scobey of Your New Life Station - no mention of
Madagascar, nor of Alaska! For this is a.k.a. KNLS during those
Pacific emissions when it`s really Alaska [non non]. 0259 pause. 0300
English will start in one minute, meanwhile playing the familiar KNLS
IS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Jan 6 at 0219, RHC Spanish is S9+20 but suptorted ==
modulation suppressed and distorted. No signal on 11850 but a horrible
crackle circa 11852: see USA: WWCR. 9535 also RHC, S8/9+10 stronger
than usual but JBM. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

BTW, I perform a broad Google search of the Internet on that
catch-phrase I coined. It insists on searching first with a proper
apostrophe, resulting in 155 hits. When I insist on searching on the
way I spell it, with a ` grave accent instead, we get about 3000. Of
course most of these are bound to lead to my postings, altho some
others have taken it up; not including the slightest variations by me
or them (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6165 // 6000, UT Fri Jan 6 at 0236, RHC English as Lena
Valverde starts `Arts Roundup`. Equally good signal and mod on both
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Jan 6 at 0238, R. Rebelde is S9+20/30 but
overmodulatedistorted; meanwhile there are NO signals on 4765, 5040,
10050 or 10080. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 7410, Jan 6 at 0230, nice Romanian folk music at S9+20/30,
and // weaker 5990 RRI a few minutes later but with some unpleasant
yelling. I look it up in the latest edition of Alan Roe`s Music
Programmmes on Shortwave, RRI`s French hour, but Friday is the only
day of week with no entry at 0230-0245! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2172 monitoring: confirmed first
SWBC, UT Friday January 6 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S6/S8 but sufficiently
good into Maurice, Louisiana SDR. Still starts with 10+ seconds of
self inflicted overriding noise hitting at exactly same time I start
talking. First tried Missouri SDR but it`s still suffering audio
dropouts every few seconds. Next:

** U S A. 7505, Jan 6 at 0226, WRNO S9/+20 but JBM in English. Why
bother? Something`s messed up in Metairie. Do they know that back at
Fort Worth HQ? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7489.930, Jan 6 at 0227, WBCQ is back after more than a week
of downtime for repairs, while 7 frequency`s programming ran on 5130-
instead, but now that`s off again until 0300 R. Angela. Still
typically off-frequency-minus, sounds OK except for the content, Hal
Turner talking about pipelines (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5920-5947 approx., Jan 6 at 0234 horrible crackling noise
spanning this range and maybe to 5950 if it were not for WRMI
shouldering; obviously emanating from defective WWCR transmitter amid
on 5935 with dead Gene Scott at S9+40/50. This correlates with the
same crackling heard at 0220 I was about to blame on Cuba, centered
about 11852 at only S9+25, i.e. 2 x 5926. Something`s gnarly at
gNashville (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5085, Jan 6 at 0237, the real WTWW, S9+20/30 with Scriptures
for America. Wondering what PPP meant, Kai Ludwig found this
disrespectful entry:
https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Peter_J._Peters
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Thu Jan 5 at 1557, this WRMI is off, probably since
1500*, but maybe will stay another hour on Friday including 1530 WOR
like last week? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15770, Jan 5 at 1935 tune-in to dead air on WRMI but soon
starts `Flashpoint Ukraine` from VOA not otherwise on SW. But this
stops at 1947, then fill music for rest of hour; 2000 `SOS WRMI`
fundraiser post-Hurricane Ian, which occupies some or all `Viva Miami`
slots (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Jan 5 at 0733, JBA carrier and nothing on 7260, so
R. Vanuatu must continue on 3945 which harmonicizes, but nothing
audible on 11835 either; while NZ 13755 is S7/S8; all vs unusually
local high noise level - HNL. Meanwhile, no further reports of
Mongolia continuing on 7260 but China is there too, PBS Xinjiang
listed, and also CRI after 1100; RV may as well continue attaining
three other frequencies for the price of one, at least after 0700
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Wed Jan 4 at 1457-1539, never any
signal from LRA36 into Argentine remote. Perhaps in midsummer hiatus;
I may quit checking Wed & Sat. Maybe Manuel Méndez or someone can find
out their plans and/or monitor when already awake (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA [and non]. 9455, Jan 4 at 1636, dominant Chinese vs music
from an understation and making SAH of 264/minute = 4.4 Hz, probably
CNR1 jammer vs WRMI, not a good share with USAGM drawing the jam
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 10080, Jan 4 at 0725, RHC Spanish S3/S6 but nothing on proper
fundamental 5040 of mistuned transmitter. Something`s always wrong at
RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Jan 4 at 0730, S9/+10 of dead air except for hum; 6165
S9/+10 DA and no hum. Should be final hour of English. Something`s
always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Jan 4 at 0732, JBA carrier the only 9/kHz split
detectable, surely R. Kiribati (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Jan 4 at 0722, VON S9/+10 but JBM (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 515 MCW kHz, Jan 4 at 0735 UT, PN, 25-watt NDB at PoNca
City, is OFF. Had been confirmed reliably whenever checked day or
night since Oct 11 after a few days off. Had had longer absences
before but eventually resumed. As of Jan 4, RG, 350, OKC still OFF;
SW, 255 StillWater and EI, 341 EnId, still ON. No change at daytime
1553 check Jan 4 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 4 at 2305, token English Wednesday from REE at
S9+20/35 direct, yet steadier signal when at 2318 I switch to Maryland
SDR at S9/+20. Amy Egan with some interviews concerning the
``repopulation project``: it seems interior ``micro-towns`` are being
vacated by Spaniards urbanizing, so trying to encourage immigration
and refugees to restore them. First interviewee had moved into
Catalunya without speaking Castilian or Catalan. No competitipn from
absent English from Turkey today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960, Jan 4 at 0025 into UTwente, VOT overtime in
German is still running, but off before Portuguese at 0100, which has
occurred in the past; 5960, Jan 4 at 2300, no signal direct in
English; and UTwente checked at 2319, no signal there either, only
Chinese from East Turkistan, std denunciation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2171 monitoring: confirmed UT Wednesday
January 4 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, steady S9+22 VG into Missouri SDR.
Usual bit of extraneous music inserted between ID and WOR.

Also confirmed Wednesday January 4 at 2200 on WBCQ 5130 minus 17 Hz =
5129.983, S6/S8 into Maryland remote: still here instead of failed
7490 transmitter. Tuned in early, brief transmission break at 2157,
hope none further. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Like our website, a noncommercial service for which financial support

PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com and

Listening, John Spicer``

One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Jan 4 at 1548 check, this WRMI is off already, as
usually the case altho last Friday it remained on past 1600 with WORLD
OF RADIO at 1530. I`ve asked Jeff whether we and other weekday
DX/Media programs stripped at 1530 might depend on that? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR) See also see CHINA 9455

** U S A. 1360, Jan 4 at 0529-0531 UT, nothing direct from WNJC,
Washington Twp, NJ. It was reported to be running DX tests every night
for 30 days at 0500, until permanently? closing down. My first try for
it. Then I bring up a remote near DC in Maryland: still nothing among
the jumble. But at 0538 & 0548 I do detect some Morse code in the
jumble via SDR in Fair Hill MD; 0550 a continuous tone. Always too
much QRM for definite ID, but did make out an N sometime, and a J.
After DE the next letter did not seem to be a W. It would have been
more helpful to send little but the ID slowly over and over. But
surely this could have been nothing else. For a while the major signal
on 1360 was an ad for truckers. In NRC AM Log, WNJC shown as Spanish,
5000/800 watts, and direxional slightly CCW from southward. This is in
southern NJ, and there is another NJ on 1360 to the north, in Newton.

This was the notification: ``ARC mv-eko items 27 Dec --- WNJC 1360 AM
DX Tests will be going dark in about 30 days. Until then I will be
playing a DX test at Midnight EST every night, for 1 hour. This is the
Black Coffee DX Test that Les Rayburn created. Sad moment but after 25
years of working on WNJC it may be coming to an end. If the stars
align, I may get it back on the air with-in a year otherwise enjoy
this last chance to hear WNJC 1360 AM from Washington Township NJ
(Duke Hamann, WNJC 1360 AM DX Tests FB group 23.12.2022)``

I had heard it during a previous test July 5, 2021. Detailed reports
about that and by others in:
https://www.w4uvh.net/ghlogs_2021_0701_0707.txt
https://www.w4uvh.net/ghlogs_2021_0708_0714.txt
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Still have not found out if or when `StarDate` now be on
KUCO schedule, but confirmed Jan 4 at 1804 UT, so then at least M-F on
KANU:
https://kansaspublicradio.org/
altho too insignificant to appear on own schedule. May also air circa
1900 UT on ex-WOR affiliate KUWR in Wyoming, not checked yet (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, Jan 4 at 0721, no signal from R. Vanuatu; but at
0723, JBA carrier on 7890 in HNL, nothing on 11835 and like last night
NZ 13755 is also JBA carrier, so RV must again be on 3945 + harmonix;
but what about Mongolia on 7260?

Confusingly confirmed thus: ``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain: Vanuatu
today, 04-01 on 7260, heard from 0550 to 0659*, in parallel with
11835. At 0659 closed on 7260 and only heard in 11835.`` Any time of
7260 being // 11835 does not make sense if they have only one
transmitter which has to be on 3945 to produce 11835 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 7850 RCUSB, CHU still missing Jan 3, but Richard Langley,
NB replies to my last report:

https://nrc.canada.ca/en/chu-short-wave-station/
``I first noted it AWOL on Dec 31 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)``

``The page has now been updated and I received this message from the
technician in charge this morning: "Both 7 MHz transmitters had
failed, I am working on them now. I hope to get at least one
operational soon." -- Richard Langley``

7850 RC USB, my next check Jan 3 at 2143, CHU is back on, S9 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 13550, Jan 3 at 1648, algo JBA QRMing CODAR, presumed CNR1
jammer which no longer infests 13530. Both are still in Aoki & EiBi as
*jammed SOH channels but only until 1600 or 1550 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CUBA. 10080, Jan 3 at 2210, RHC Spanish at S9+10, yet again
mistuned up on second harmonic of 5040 where nothing detectable yet;
while 5025 Rebelde fundamental and no 10050, is JBA, only S7/S8.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255-, Jan 3 at 0754, VON is S8/S9 but undermodulated.
Something`s abnormal at Abuja (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Jan 3 at 1258 UT, I happen to awaken and hear
KUCO-FM playing module bit, `Bird Note` amid Kimberly`s Classical
Morning. Websked still not updated from former times M-F 7:06 am &
1:58 pm [1306 & 1958 UT]. More here and access to many more 2-minute
episodes:
https://www.birdnote.org/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002+, Jan 3 at 2258, VOT IS already playing,
not deferring to BBC Oman in English until 2359.5 on 5960; S9+20/35
into UTwente; 2300 opens with full English schedule in jumbled order,
then news. 2311 CCCCCCI starts from EAST TURKISTAN, std denunciation;
but VOT English remains well atop thru the hour. 2312-2315 `Review of
the Turkish Press` starting with record level of exports; 2318-2326
`Weekly Commentary` ``flight of fancy`` about a new Turkish-made
fighter jet; 2326-2328 multi-lingual ID filler reel; not paying
attention further until: 2351 s/off with full English sked again; 2353
IS and keeps playing until 2400 TS and spurious German hour starts,
right into news, still overriding XJPBS. I don`t keep on it to tell
how long something`s always erroneous in Emirler last this time (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13563.5 CW, Jan 3 at 1649, JBA vs CODAR swirshes, PCO,
beacon ID repeating rapidly with hardly a pause, i.e. Pine, COlorado,
as in:
https://www.lwca.net/sitepage/part15/mfmain.htm
No K6FRC audible now a sesquikHz higher; and where are all the others
on this roster, never detectable here? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 17655, Jan 3 at 1650, S9+10 of open carrier, obviously VOA
Grimesland warming up for the Portuguese to Africa sesquihour from
1700, checked at 1800 in Luso not Braso accent (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. Re WORLD OF RADIO 2171 monitoring in last report: ``"Not
confirmed UT Monday January 2 at 0400 on WBCQ Radio Angela 6160" ---
Nonono, Radio Angela is 5130.`` -- Bill Tilford. Sorry! Of course, the
scheduled 0400 Mon airing on 6160- is part of Area 51. WOR has three
airtimes on WBCQ each week, each a different substation I should not
confuse. One or another could be missing scheduled time for one reason
or another. Next:

time in weeks, so RV must have moved to harmonicizing 3945 as I
suggested, to avoid QRMongolia on 7260. But there is also a JBA
carrier now on 7260, so suspect that be Mongolia. Nothing audible
however on 11835 = 3 X 3945. It may well be on, but not propagable,
not surprising since NZ 13755 is only a JBA carrier despite 100 kW.
Then other Jan 3 reports emerge:

``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain: VANUATU, 11835 (3rd harmonic of 3945),
0750-0803, comments. Very weak directly. Good signal Via SDR Kiwi
remote receiver in North New Zealand on 11835, fair on 3945, weak on
7890``

Ron Howard, California: ``January 3 (Tuesday) observations: 3945 (ex
7260), R. Vanuatu, after Glenn's notification to Adrian Sainsbury
(thanks Glenn!), RV moved here to get away from Mongolia (absent
tonight); fundamental frequency (3945) being the only usable signal
that I had; while // 7890, 2nd harmonic was unusable, as was the 3rd
harmonic on 11835. Reception on the former 7260 was infinitely better
for me! 7260, No Mongolia 0830+ UT and no Vanuatu.`` So remains to be
heard whether VOM remain active on 7260 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
