via Argentine SDR 15475.83 in USB, hearing nothing. That exact
frequency where last heard on Sat in LSB; at 1502 I switch to USB and
there it is, LRA36, when I retune to 15475.98 but in LSB, not USB!
Also listenable in AM mode, tho the carrier is very much reduced, JBA
if side-tuned. The themesong is playing; only S4/S5 at first,
difficult copy. K index is 3. 1505 the opening recitation; 1507 song;
``RASG - su cía`` canned ID, then lively live YLs on this, the 29th
programa of the Esperanza Audaz season; 1519 comes in stronger with S7
peaks, frequency as ``15476``, never mind the details of SSB and
offfrequenciness; 1534 OM talking about some ham project in 2013y;
1540 YL mentions ``high frequency``, music; 1545 ``RNASG -- Nacional,
nos une`` canned ID; interview with José Ortiz? técnico; 1556 YL
mentions winds hit 200 kph there; 1603 music only; 1606 ID with staff
list which funxions as a s/off as well as s/on; ``Nacional, nos une``

RNZI own sked. They could have turned on second transmitter since
13730 is not propagating at all? Fat chance.

HFCC B22 reveals at 0600-0700, 7285 is really BBC via SAO TOME, 100 kW
at 335 degrees. That fits because this is characteristically
off-frequency, drifting upwards, measured at 0630 on 7285.036. 0632 as
`Newsday`. Why bother with different programmme names for all-news

** ITALY. 1323 kHz, Sunday October 30 at 2000, IRRS SW via AM Italia,
Villa Estense, still not on 918 or 207 either, with special hour
tribute to the late Dario Monferini, of Milano, who died October 17.
After confirming it here via Parma SDR, I`m listening on the clear
NEXUS/IBA webcast. Starts with a rock tune I recognize as one of the
liners used to appear on RN`s Media Network. Then Alfredo Cotroneo
introduces the show, ``Hello There...``, apparently name of mailbag in
years past. This is part 2: missed part 1 last weekend. Will play a
Play-DX show of Dec 1989; reveals exact SW transmitter site outside
Milano ``for the first time``, but I missed the name. Dario had been
recorded over very lofi telco line, first in English talking about FM?
stations in the local area. 2010 they go into Italian: I can mostly
understand Alfredo in the clear studio, but not Dario so much, so
suspend. When I recheck at 2040, back in English with an old Media
Network episode about then new IRRS experiments with reduced carrier
SSB, test schedule, not about Dario; 2054 wrapup and Verdi theme

AWR in Malgache at 1530-1600. From inside Mad., should be skipping
over most of the island; or just counting on groundwave in Talata

opening in Chinesish tonal language. Before 1530* brief announcement
by different YL voice seems to be giving a website or email with some
letters pronounced in English, but uncopied: need to be recording!
Reception is about the same as had been for V of Martyrs Korea,
Maldives service. Suspect it`s still them from secret site but
switching focus away from Maldives. Website has lots of stuff but NO
info I can find about any axual broadcasts! They do have a ``China
Ministry``, but no mention of Maldives:

at 1658 it`s CRI English inbooming into Canary SDR. HFCC shows for
B22, CRI occupies 7255 from 1600 to 2100! If VON ever resume, it will
be nothing but a het against the ChiCom - but how were they to know
they would be blocking Nigeria`s last possible SW frequency, since
Nigeria refuses to participate in HFCC? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SAO TOME. 7255.00, Oct 31 at 0456, African language S9/+10 until
chopped off at 0459*, S9/+10 direct. Tnx tip from Gary Pence who
wondered if Nigeria had fixed their off-frequency. But it would not be
on before 0555. HFCC B22 reveals it`s VOA in Shona via Pinheira, and

English at 15-16; later via Botswana. WOR iog reports all kinds of

on minus side only, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR, suspected the REE
African frequency, cuts off at 1714* while RTTY remains. In HFCC B22,
only 161 azimuths registered are 17755 and 21620 --- nothing audible
theres. But José Bueno of AER forwards this notice from REE itself:

Uyghurs and other Moslems, as already noted opening at 2300, not
listed 2330-. From 2251, insted of tone, brief bursts of ChiCom
martial music cut on and off about once a minute. 2258 stays on longer
but pause again as BBC stops circa 2259*. 2300, 2-pip timesignal and
Chinese sign-on mentioning Xinjiang. Still no sign of Turkey at
UTwente or Maryland, while I move to SPAIN. But XJPBS is JBA at
Maryland. By 2305, VOT has cut on late, S9+25/35 overriding XJPBS at
UTwente but still some QRM under. Something`s always erroneous at
Emirler. At Maryland, VOT only S8/S9, sufficient but hardly solid, and
hardly any CCI. As for content I`m listening to Spain, q.v., until its
English finish at 2330. Now VOT marred by some 2ACI splash de 5950
much stronger WRMI.

receiver, 5950 is S9+10/20, 7780 S8/S9 noisy. And 5950 runs about 1
second behind 7780, so separate playouts, Systems L and D
respectively. SysL operates on EDT/EST so from next week 5950 will be
at 0130 UT.

Also confirmed UT Monday October 31 from 0302.5 on WBCQ Area 51, 6160
minus 64 Hz = 6159.936, S8/S9 into Maryland remote. JL finished by
0301, gotta go, then ID for Radio Luxembourg, why?, 0302 dead air
