Independence Day ceremonies from Red Fort: first tried Kuwait remote
but hardly any signal; then to Vadodra SDR in India which I thought
might be in skip zone from Bengaluru. Tnx to advance notice from
Alokesh Gupta that 13710 would be in English but mostly it is not.

For some amusement, turn on the auto-generated English captions while
Modi is speaking Hindi => gobbledygook. Also the clock in LR corner is
wrong for some world cities from Paris to San Francisco...`` It has

certain time to the second.

Before Modi started his 82-minute speech, as on TV stream, W in
English and M in Hindi took turns describing the scene, quite a visual
spectacle. Huge audience seated outside with no shade as the morning
sun climbed higher and higher, most of them in heavy clothing. As he
spoke, checked 13710 again, and there was no simultaneous English
translation, nor any available on TV. Every so often, the sometimes
hilarious totally off-topic wacky captions would include something
that may have applied to India. Apparently the bot was listening to
the original Hindi and instead of translating it, displaying English
terms resembling the Hindi syllables. Modi finally finished about 0330
but TV coverage continued to 0350 with huge bilingual credit roll.

skedgrid. Not that either, but now open carrier/dead air at S9+10/20
into Georgia SDR; I believe a gospel huxter had just finished. Dead
air remains until 2255 starts IS & ID loop, to start at ``top of
hour``, tho sked shows 5950 should begin with System L at 2100, and a
new hour of TOMBS daily at 2200-2300. Meanwhile, 5850 is also dead air
at 2230, while all other 5, 7 and 9 MHz frequencies are active. 5850
was supposed to start at 2200. Checked next day at 2255 Aug 15, 5950
is in TOM but not BS himself, // 9455 & 15770, so that will apparently
rule out any more WORs at 2230.

What about 2330 on 5950, scheduled as `Challenge` for an hour daily
from 2300, but last Tuesday WOR was really heard at 2330? Is it really
a 60-minute show? Apparently, on Aug 15 it keeps playing past 2330, so
WOR unlikely on Tue Aug 16, but should still be on 9395 at that hour.

1444.4 does music chop back on, but keeps going off and on again. 1445
announcement as Animals tune, cuts out. 1452.5 rock music on until
1453.6 dead air again past 1500. Website supposedly displays current
music as ``71-238 The Doors``. 1503 cuts on classic rock with
``Gloria``; sked at 15-16 is ``Mario Marconi``. 1510.5 DA, 1512 music;
recheck 1541 music; 1542 Mario Marconi says ``back next Sunday at 12
UTC``. 1554 sign-off ``until next Sunday``, tune loops, from MASH?
until 1600 right into `Encore` from Radio Tumbril, which I already
heard better last night at 0100 on WRMI.

It seems that WOR is the only spoken-word program on WMRI Europe. No
dead-air interruptions were heard after I tuned in and can only hope
there were not before. Unfortunate that the final transmission was so
interrupted. Can`t tell where the problem was, from HQ somewhere in
UK, on the way to Germany, or at Ch 292; but not the remote receiver
which kept getting the signal whether modulated or not. We look

frequency on air in the night, as I bring up the Missouri remote to
check WOR, which was last tuned to 15770 for checking after 1930. To
be sure it`s not an SDR anomaly, I find the same into Maryland remote
at S6/S7. Soon obvious it`s TOMBS, // 5850 et al.; 0335 kids singing,
then Alex Scourby, Bibling as if it were incontrovertible.

WRMI skedgrid shows 15770 only at 11-24 UT. Forgot to turn off #9
transmitter? Or maybe a propagation test? Hardly anything else on 19m
at this hour. I keep checking, still at 0422, 0457 S7/S9 gospel music,
but by 0507 dead air, carrier still on, S9/+10 into Maryland. Direct
at 0628+ it`s a JBA carrier still2 on. What gives? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** VANUATU. 11835, Aug 14 at 0621, quick bedtime check confirms RV
still thirdharmonicizing JBA. On Aug 5, Walt Salmaniw with his super
setup on Haida Gwaii was able to hear the fourth harmonic on 15780,

Melchior this time, as same stuff I heard on Wednesday. So I suspend,
especially since a 137 MHz sporadic E patch east of here beckons me to
the FMDX caradio --- yet nothing but tropofringers. Recheck for LRA36

Woodward, listed as ``Spirit Country``, 100 kW, but mostly blocked

5130 minus 27/28 Hz into Maryland SDR, = 5129.9725, S9/+10.

Still not confirmed on WRMI 15770, Sat Aug 13 at 1950, as still on
skedgrid for System B, but fill music instead of original replacement
gospel huxter on System C.

Confirmed Sat Aug 13 at 1947 about 8 minutes into on WA0RCR, 1860 AM,
Wentzville MO, VG steady S9+16 into nearby SDR north of Warrenton, so

plus side, from the minus side 24 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 96.7, Aug 13 at 1550 UT, after nothing much, suddenly a
strong signal with football talk, about TX Rangers, DFW, and soon JBA
again, only KTCK-FM Flower Mound TX, which really gets out when it
catches a wave, as also heard Aug 11 at 1554, 381 km = 246 miles.
Faded in and out like sporadic E which I was hoping for, with a
137-MHz MUF patch east of here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

98.3, Aug 13 at 1654 UT, Open carrier, dead air, must be from 97 kW
semi-local KQZQ, Kiowa KS, just a few km and fewer miles from OK.
However, pretends to be a Pratt station, site more than halfway from
Kiowa, north of Medicine Lodge. Still dead for a few minutes, not
rechecked until 1935 when it`s alive with country. BTW, Kiowa was the
last known location of Scott Becker, onetime partner of Allan Weiner
until becoming a nonentity to WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
