** ANGOLA. 4949.720, July 15 at 2152, presumed RNA is JBA S7 mostly noise into Namibia SDR with signature offset, no signal into RSA SDR and there are no other Kiwis in southern Africa. Tnx to tip from Manuel Méndez, Spain, who reported this yesterday to the WOR iog:
``Rádio Nacional de Angola, 4949,7 on air after months without detecting it --- Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, Log in Reinante, NW of Spain, Tecsun PL-880, cable antenna, 8 meters: ANGOLA, 4949.7, Rádio Nacional de Angola, Mulenvos, 1956-2016, 14-07, comments, songs. Strong carrier, extremely weak audio, barely audible, best on LSB.`` Tropical Bands Monitor as of 1 July shows this on 4949.7 had been reported this year only in January and March. Once upon a time RNA ran all-night and its off-frequency carrier at least could be detected in deep North America. As of last year, WRTH showed 4950 as 24 h with A program in Portuguese, nominal 25 kW; while MW 945 had some foreign languages local evenings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, July 15 at 1852, LRA36 is on with a surprise late Friday broadcast; tnx to tips from Hugo López, Chile and Manuel Méndez, Spain. Sufficient S5/S9 into Argentine SDR. Amid interview of a guy by the gals who are laughing a lot. He`s talking about high winds and other weather info, mentions Centro Meteorológico Marambio, so maybe he`s visiting from that other base. Only QRM occasional clix. Unfortunately at 1900-2000 UT Fridays I always listen to KUCO for `The Score` cinemusic in $ tereo. LRA36 is off by my next chance to check at 2022. Maybe this compensate for totally missing their scheduled Wednesday 1500 transmission? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. Correxion to a typo not noticed by me until July 14. Is anyone paying attention? I wish I were before I publish an error! Second frequency was given as 9873.86 instead of 9673.86; FIXED: 9673.80 / 9673.86, July 9 at 0621, RVM praise music jumping around these two spots as I try to measure it. Anyeditor who published this error must now also publish this correxion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9440, July 15 at 2133 and 2201, NO signal in English from R. Cairo into UTwente; it`s better than something since something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SRI LANKA [non]. 11750, July 15 at 1650, no signal of SLBC into Kuwait SDR; supposedly 1630-1830 with domestic service relay. Had not paid attention before but checking now whether it be off due to strife. At 1620-1650, VIRI blox 11750 in Bengali: how could they possibly know about SLBC since it`s not in HFCC? After Qur`an, 1630 chimes and ``Radio Tehran`` ID. After 1700 into Bengaluru SDR, nothing either on 11750. I have the vague impression that SLBC 11750 may have been sporadic already. The other times to seek SLBC are 0030-0100 and 0200-0230 on 11905, often reported from N America. Of course there are lots of relays via Trincomalee site: Aoki has 36 entries including SLBC. Other have reported some of those still on. BTW, the protesters` takeover of SLBC TV I quoted on WOR 2147 turned out to be a bit exaggerated: they were allowed on for 15 minutes. I thought it somewhat suspicious that the language signer in the corner continued during clip unabated. See this via Ron Howard, WOR iog: BBC news story - "Sri Lanka: The fake ‘invasions’ of a broadcaster and Central Bank" https://news.yahoo.com/sri-lanka-fake-invasions-broadcaster-080717044.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, July 15 at 2201 and 2212, NO signal from VOT English into UTwente, but something weak, presumably CNR1 Beijing 572 site also scheduled. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, From the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Dear Glenn: World of Radio, monitoring and confirming the latest for #2146, continued troubled time hearing at 0130 UTC on 5850 kHz too much daylight hours reduced reception, WRMI: 9395, 0130, 0141, static QRN, 0159, July 9 UTC 2022 [Sat] 9395, static, QSB fading, 0043, 0059 (S7 signal level), 0159, 9395, July 12 UTC 2022 [Tue]. {??? 0159 UT Tue, starting at 0130 is not a scheduled time for WOR, just 0030; your typo or their error/change?} 9395, static QRN, 2331, 2342 (S5,6 signal levels), 2359 July 12 [Tue] 5850, missed broadcast sleeping, 1100, July 13 [Wed 1030] 9395, 0029, 0059 (45343), usual static QRN; 9395, 0130, 0139, 0144, 0155 (45443), 0159, July 14 [both Thu] Good listening, Richard, July 14, 2022`` WORLD OF RADIO 2147 monitoring: confirmed first broadcasts UT Friday July 15 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5850 S9+10/20 direct, preceded by two overlapping IDs and WOR not starting until 0130.2; presumably same on 7730, S9/+10 and noisy, both direct. Not confirmed UT Friday July 15 at 0330 on WRMI 7780: rather, previous WOR 2146 aired again; not sure why, some file mixup? But I have rechecked that 2147 is ready for all subsequent airings on WRMI thru July 21. Also confirmed Friday July 15 at 1430 on WRMI 9955; inaudible at Bonaire where it`s aimed but S7/9+10 direct, no jamming audible. A 2-minute music buffer at 1428 following the Tourette`s gospel huxter blaster preceding. Confirmed NOT airing Friday July 15 at 1815 on IRRS 7290, AM Italia 1323, 918, usual third-Friday pre-emption for some classic rock; checked via UTwente and Noale SDRs. Confirmed the MW-only AM Italia airing Friday July 15 at 2030 on 918 & 1323 kHz; 918 at S9/+5 is better than 1323 only S7/S8, and no LW 207; but by 2031, 918 cuts off and on the air, and/or when on without modulation. While 1323 seems to stay as I switch back & forth. Next: 0130 UT Saturday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0400 UT Saturday WBCQ 5130v to WSW 0700 UT Saturday Unique R, Australia 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0430] 1324vUT Sunday WMRI Europe via Ch 292 Germany 9670 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 2230 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW [to be canceled? still July 3] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much appreciated; thanks this week to Kari Kallio, Lahti, Finland, for some tuki via PayPal not necessarily originally in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by postal money order or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, July 15 at 0128, no signal from WLCR/WBCQ. Ailing? Yes, a twit as of 13 hours before 0000 UT July 16: ``Allan Weiner @AllanWBCQ · 13h --- Working at the stations. The great 500 KW transmitter is down. Very complex. All of us troubleshooting now. Free speech radio continues. Angela & Allan on tonight at 8pm eastern on 7490/6160/5130/3265khz. Support radio-please listen. Your prayers appreciated. The big one⚡️.`` Well, UT Sat July 16 after 0000, 3265 is JBA S5 at Maryland SDR, mostly local and storm noise but SAM as carrier +151 Hz = 3265.152v. 3265.153v much better S8/S9 into nearest PEI SDR. Apparently during AAAWWW original broadcast is only time it`s occasionally onturned. 3265 is not even included in the program guide. A new AAAWWW, since discussing the Webb Space Telescope images. Angela is not within grasp of Allan but on a lo-fi remote phone line. I guess he is in ME, she in FL. Or, ``she is on an errand``. Almost whole program is Allan lexuring us on the Universe and Everything, Relativity, with the inevitable Christian undertones. I`m listening via the 7490v webcast. Datestamp at 0038 as he is from Studio 1 in Monticello, for 15 July YOOLF 2022. Never heard anything about what`s wrong with the SuperStition. 0053 into email (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 3215 & 5890, July 15 at 0630, both these WWCR TOMBS frequencies are off. Now we see in the program schedules dated July 1 that they are intentionally OFF AIR: WWCR-1 M-F at 0500-1100 3215 and 1100-1130 15825; and WWCR-4 M-F 0500-1200 5890. BUT same remain on air Saturdays and Sundays with TOMBS. No other Off Air times are shown. Absent 5890 also deprives us of the leapfrog mixing product over 5935 landing on 5980. It seems that dead Brother Stair`s income is dropping (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0114 UT July 16

** GUAM. 11590, July 14 at 1435, S4/S5 in S Asian language? It`s KTWR in Kazakh at 1430-1445 only (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, July 14 at 0501-0508, another new `Ukraine: Security Issue` for July 13, Day 140 of Russia`s war, on UR1 via WRMI. Richard Langley says these resumed on July 10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re 12695.5, KFS: ``Hi Glenn. Thanks for including stations KPH and KFS in your posting. The currently active transmit site for KFS is Bolinas, CA - co-located with KPH. The KFS transmitter is a 1942 Press Wireless PW15 running about 5 kW. This transmitter was in service for KFS at the historic (1921) Palo Alto, CA site and was one of the transmitters used for the "last day of Morse" ceremony on 12 July 1999, the date we commemorate with Night of Nights. We brought it and a sister PW15 to Bolinas. KFS worked SS AMERICAN VICTORY/KKUI with multiple QTC in both directions and perhaps other customers. VY 73, RD --- Richard Dillman https://www.radiomarine.org Maritime Radio Historical Society`` Richard, Good to hear from you and tnx for the clarification. I guess I was confused by the KFS KiwiSDRs being at Half Moon Bay despite the same callsign. If a receiver site only, that`s certainly a good idea to be away from all the outgoing RF. 73, (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday July 14 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9+12 into Maryland SDR. Missed checking at 0130 on WRMI 9395, 5010; anyone hear them? It seems that TOMBS hours have been reduced here as well as on WRMI, Channel 292 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, July 14 at 0621, JBA carrier, presumed R. Vanuatu which Manuel Méndez found yesterday active both before and after 0600, rather than 3945 and harmonix, so still no 11835. NO 2 x 7260 audible on 14520 either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9330, July 14 at 1440, JBA carrier. Hard to believe it`s the 500 kW WBCQ SuperStition; if so, must be on exciter only during English. Nothing else shares 9330 except Cuban Spy Numbers at 0700 four days a week, which was there long before WLCR/WBCQ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15520, July 14 at 0623, S7/S9 open carrier, one of strongest signals on band, equivalent to 15490 BBC Vatican but with less fading. Nothing on skeds to account for it, but maybe a test from Spain which is on 15520 only between 14 and 23. The only other 15520 scheduled is AWR 0400-0430 Amharic via Sri Lanka: possibly that disrupted by strife, but would not expect such a transpolar signal to be so steady (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0034 UT July 15

** EGYPT. 9439.995, July 13 at 2204, R. Cairo is terribly overmodulated and distorted with hum but English news? somewhat readable if you put up with it, which I will not for more than a few seconds, S9+30/40 into UTwente. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830+, July 13 at 2207, VOT ending news and already into `Feeling Supreme` theme, and about bone health with osteoporosis repeatedly mispronounced, right into recommended nutrients: garlic, apple-a-day, rosemary, coconut oil, pineapple, broccoli... Standard disclaimer. To Maryland SDR it`s S9/+15 with RTTY on + side so must listen on LSB, and +20+ Hz offset. To UTwente, no RTTY, S9+35/50 and +21 Hz. To both it`s humbuzzy, annoying. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler. Normally there are press reviews, commentary before getting into features like FeelSup at least 20 minutes into. Something`s always awry at Ankara. But it`s not AWOL today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: no signal at all Wednesday July 13 at 2100:21 on WBCQ 7490v when tuned direct; but at 2116 confirmed via Maryland SDR, sufficient S8/9+5. Once again not `Goddess Irena 1` next at 2130 as still shown on program sked, not checked until 2159 ending some oldtimeradio with NBC chimes. Next: 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much appreciated; thanks this week to Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid, Luxembourg: ``Dear Mr. Hauser, Thank you for all the work you are doing for international DXing community. Wednesday, July 13 2022
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Wednesday July 13 from 1455 to 1555, NEVER any signal from LRA36 into best Argentine SDR, another failure of scheduled broadcast; but there are blaaps every 7.5 seconds and irregular clix, OTH radar? none of which would have been serious obstacles. Better luck on Saturday July 16? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6000, 6060, 6100, 6165, July 13 at 0630, all these RHCs are off already in English. You never know which or any will remain after 0600. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** INTERNATIONAL VACUUM. The much-anticipated first images from the Webb Spacescope: yes, they are impressive and pretty - but we realize they are the outcome of post-produxion, as no humaneye could ever see anything like that. We hope to trust that the colorization, converted from infrared wavelengths, bear some relation to reality; but spare us all the six-pointed ``stars``, which if not imposed deliberately would be considered produced by defective optix. Not satisfied with glimpses on various TV news, I went to the NASA.gov website, which also prompted me to take a survey: fine, I`ll tell them off! ``Do not close this window`` --- I did not but it disappeared anyway. Oops, altho gone from main screen I later find it - but most of the 37 questions are *required multiple-choice, and have nothing to do with my issue, rather presentation of the website in general, etc. Nevermind (Glenn Hauser, Terra, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 27184.7 AM, July 12 at 2351, CB pirate relay of 103.1 KOFM Enid during local adstring, S9+10/20. What a bonus for advertisers! Does KOFM even know or care about this hijacking? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, July 13 at 0501-0507, `Ukraine: Security Issue` via WRMI. Missed the datestamp but not a repeat of yesterday so must be new. As for the other UR1 relay: ``Checked yesterday and today, July 12 and 13, WRMI still airing preacher at 1200 UT on 5010 kHz. There's no introduction to this program, seems to be joined in progress. Glad to hear they've resumed the Ukraine program at 0500. Monitored on Ocean Ridge, Florida, remote SDR. Not readable here directly. Joe Ihnat, Southwestern Pennsylvania, USA, HCDX`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 245 MCW kHz, July 13 at 0635 UT, FS, ND beacon at Falls, Sioux, SD, 400 watts, JBA vs somewhat abated storm noise level, altho common in winter. A bit easier, 248 MCW kHz, 1000 watts of dash and WG, Winnipeg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 12695.5 CW, July 13 at 0034, KFS, Half Moon Bay, CA, with CQ and QSX marker over and over. No breaks ever heard past 0057 for axual contacts. Monitored for convenience via Maryland remote running, but could have heard direct. This was the MRHS ``Night of Nights`` annual celebration, as explained: https://www.radiomarine.org/mrhs-events There were also KPH CW and RTTY press broadcasts copied and posted by others to the WOR iog, and hamband activity (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday July 12 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9+5 into Maryland remote and no jamming audible at first; but storm noise over MD and Blitz all the way from Nashville to DC, and Pennsylvania to Monticello. Also confirmed Tuesday July 12 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S8/S9 into Maryland with storm crashes. Worse direct, unusable, S5/S8 vs noise level. Next: 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much appreciated; thanks this week to Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid, Luxembourg: ``Dear Mr. Hauser, Thank you for all the work you are doing for international DXing community. Maybe break for lightning storms? 9265 WINB also missing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5890 & 3215, July 13 at 0630, 50% of WWCR are OFF with TOMBS, but still on: 5935 with TUN/DGS, and 4840 with TOMBS; why? There had been storms over Nashville (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 11835, July 13 circa 0630, still no signal from RV X3. I did not think to check 7260 before or after 0600, but others did: ``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain: Strong carrier and some extremely weak audio detected here in Reinante, NW of Spain, good signal via SDR Kiwi remote receivers in New Zealand. VANUATU, Radio Vanuatu on air again, 7260, 0521-0612, 13-07, Bislama, English, comments, Island songs, at 0601 hour interval signal news in English, advertisements and more songs. No change to 3945 at 0559 as usual. At 0705 Vanuatu still continues on 7260 khz.`` ``Manuel - Thanks for the timely alert! Radio Vanuatu (7260) on July 13, from 0702 to 0716 UT, with the news (unreadable); poor to very poor; nothing on 14520 nor 21780; still on 7260 (ex: 3945) after 0815+.
