 ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1640 kHz, Jan 9 at 0755 and still 0805 UT, dead air from KZLS ``Enid``, Still huge S9+53 implying on 10 kW day power. Wake up? BTW, NRC reports that WTNI 1640 Biloxi MS has been silent since June 25, 2024 due to transmitter problems. It used to QRM KZLS or whatever it was called then, when on night power, suspecting WTNI on day power (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** U S A. 359 MCW kHz, Jan 9 at 0728 UT, GGF, 25-watt ND beacon at Grant, Nebraska (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, UT Jan 9 between 02 & 04, still no signal from WTWW. ``Glenn, The part for #2 amplifier arrived ( D O A ). Dead On Arrival. XMTR is still down, awaiting new parts from China. George McClintock 1-9-2024`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2277) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2276 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday January 9 at 0130 on WRMI 5010, S6/S8 into Maryland SDR, while Bonaire as often was maxed out. Followed `Frecuencia al Día` and some deadair instead of ID. ``OFF today Jan 09th due to local weather --- Hi Glenn, just to let you know, there will be no airing of WOR this european afternoon / evening as we suffer from heavy snow the whole day. At Winsen site, temps were at +1 degrees C in the morning with heavy rain, but falling to -1 degrees C during the course of the day. Rain turned into snow, resulting in heavy ice on our antennas. 6160 tx tripped out at around 13:00 UT. 3975 is also seriously effected. Temps should rise again soon - hopefully we will be back tomorrow. 73s Andy (Engineer, Shortwave Radio, Winsen on the river Aller)`` Would have been final repeat Thu 1730 on 3975 WORLD OF RADIO 2277 contents: Algeria, Brasil and non, (China non), Cuba and non, Eritrea non, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan and non, Kyrgyzstan and non, Laos and non, Madagascar, Mali, México, Moldova, Myanmar and non, North America, Norway, Philippines, Romania, Scotland non, Spain and non, Swaziland, Switzerland, (Tibet), (UAE), USA, Vanuatu; propagation outlook - (countries mentioned along with others not in order) WOR 2277 available from 0106 UT Friday January 10: (mp3 stream) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2277.m3u (mp3 download) https://www.w4uvh.net/wor2277.mp3 Or via http://www.worldofradio.com/audiomid.html Also linx to podcast services. Thanks this week for a very generous contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com, from Peter Robinson, Preston UK, and and says, ``All the best for the New Year, 73's to all DXers, especially British DX Club.`` One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 900, Jan 9 immediately at 0746 UT tune-in, ID ``WKDA and W252DU, Lebanon`` TN. NRC AM Log shows part of the time, WKDA is in the group ``FM 98.9 Real Country``: WCOR 1490 Lebanon, WANT 98.9 and mere translator W252DU 98.3, which in the Groups listing disincludes WKDA. 900 listing shows another mere translator for it, W270DM, 101.9. 900 is U1 5000/136 watts. Radio-locator shows a previous callsign for WKDA was WCOR. It also shows slogan ``Radio Luz`` which sounds Spanish, but no hint of Spanish in NRC AM Log, rather split format of C&W and NOS. WTFDA FM DB shows W252DU is a relay of WCOR 1490. Is that clear? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0142 UTJanuary 10

 {Last report was misyeared as 2024 - inevitably...}
** CUBA [and non]. 870, Jan 8 at 0738 UT, wobbler against WWL at more rapid rate than usual, likewise on 1040 against WHO, further implying some relation between the two. However in WRTH 2025, the one Cuban on 1040 is not at same site as any of the three on 870. If intended as jamming, IIRC, WWL was one of the stations coöpted by USG during Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962y, but probably not WHO. But was 1040 a USG frequency from the Keys before 1180? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [and non]. 800 kHz, Jan 8 at 0737 UT, distorted mess from XEERG, NL, is worse than usual vs KQCV. When are they ever going to fix it or turn it off? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 8 circa 2200 UT, OG&E downtown Enid lowpower, which was deadair in $ tereo when last checked a biday ago, is still on and has resumed, but very undermodulated as before, now with pop music such as ``Jolene`` rather than Xmassy (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17715.09v, Jan 8 at 1856, REE IS, S7/9+10 direct, the SAm beam, compared to 9690, NAm beam which is JBA direct: clear triumph of LUHF over azimuth, i.e. much better on higher frequency for SAm, than lower one for us in NAm; 1859 s/on the two WHem frequencies as 19-03 UT weekdays, 15-24 weekends. 17715 seems to be drifting downward as it warms up. At 1908 into UTwente, S8/S9 on 17715.013. By 2300 for token Wednesday English, 9690, 17715 and 17755 achieve NO signal direct, and 12030 but a JBA carrier. So I check it at UTwente, where 9690 is JBA, but 12030 is fair at S8 but fadeouts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.003+, Jan 8 at 2318, TRTWorld S9+5 direct but too hi noise level; VG S9+35 into UTwente with in-depth report from a large Palestinian neighborhood in SW Chicago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 257 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0728 UT, JYR, 25-watt NDB at York, Nebraska. Seldom heard despite one of closest in that state, and `local` to the Total Solar Eclipse area we visited. 341 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0726 UT, DNI, DeNIson TX NDB is JBA but not the other 341, OIN, OberlIN KS. 251 MCW kHz, Jan 8 at 0730 UT, some beacon hard to copy, probably AM, AMarillo TX, mixing with another. No obvious familiar ones listed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2276 monitoring: ``Good evening Glen... World of Radio was missing on WRMI's 9395 kHz tonight (7:30 PM EST Tuesday here in GA). It was replaced by Wavescan. Wavescan aired again 1 hour later on the same frequency. Just wanted you to know. Love your show. Regards, Hank Blackwood`` NOT confirmed UT Wednesday January 8 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, rather Wavescan, despite it also one hour later on same. System G sked now shows WS at both times and not WOR. That leaves us with no airings on one of the best frequencies across North America. I asked Jeff if he can find any other time for WOR on it - or maybe 9455 when it`s back in full service. Now he has replied that WOR will resume on 9395 at 0030 UT Wednesdays, tnx. Confirmed, however, UT Wednesday January 8 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.004-, JBA into UTwente but S7/S8 into further Sligo, Ireland SDR. Confirmed Wednesday January 8 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975, S7/S8 into Sligo, nothing into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday January 8 at 2200 on WBCQ, 7490 -75 Hz = 7489.925, S9/+10 into Maryland SDR. Preceded not by `Pirate Joe Extravaganzo` but by TOMBS. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. Thanks this week for financial support from Chris Krug, Tulsa OK, a contribution via PayPal in US funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com, and says, ``Warmest Holiday Greetings, Glenn! Thanks for all you do!`` One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Jan 8 at 0354, no signal from WTWW-2, nor earlier but I might have missed it; nor before 0100 on 9475. 9930/5920 WTWW-1 continue to be reliable with TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 13845, Jan 8 at 1902, no signal from WWCR-3 direct, while 12160 WWCR-2 inbooms. By 1937, 13845 is JBA. At 1943, 13845 is also JBA into UTwente, where it`a aimed toward Europe at 40 degrees. 9980 WWCR-4 deliberately off M-F at 17-23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1580, Jan 8 at 0749 UT, super-hype voice actor [SHVA] in Spanish, ``1580 y 98.1``. Of few USSS on 1580, NRC AM Log has a hit: WHLY South Bend IN, U2 1000/500 watts, La Raza. This group is headed by 98.1, a mere translator, W251AR, and also includes a 1460 station (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1360.02 kHz approx., Jan 8 at 0742 UT, Mexmxmix, 0745 Spanish ID as ``1360 AM y 96.3 FM``. I can find no such AM/FM correlation in IRCA Mexican Log, NRC AM Log, WTFDA FM Database, broad search; nor in MW offsets, anything that far off+ anywhere. In case it were really 93.3 or 106.3, same search with no hits. Have been hearing the LAH for a long time. The off-frequency one is not necessarily the one in Spanish. IRCA lists two Mexicans active and 3 CPs on 1360. In NRC AM Log, by language and proximity, the three most likely are KGMR Clarksville AR, KTNZ Amarillo TX and KMNY Hurst TX. Both Texans are religious which this unseems. Ideas? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0010 UT January 9, 2025

 ** CANADA. 346 MCW kHz, Jan 7 at 0802 UT, dash and YXL, is JBA. Glad to hear that Sioux Lookout ON beacon has not been decommissioned; had not been able to detect it for several nights. DXinfocentre says 500 watts; RNA list, 1000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 392 MCW kHz, Jan 7 at 0804 UT, ND beacon is JBA, copied as FMO. But per RNA and dxinfocentre, must have been FMZ, 25 watts at Fairmont / Beklof, Nebraska {i.e., last letter --.. not ---} Last definitely logged Nov 7, 2024 at 0726 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2276 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday January 7 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9+10/20 into south TX SDR. Missed checking Tue Jan 7 at 1400 on WRMI 9955; anyone hear it? Confirmed Tuesday January 7 at 1505 the 1500 on WRMI 9955, JBA direct. Last week TOMBS was on instead after 1500, but the 1400 was confirmed. Confirmed Tuesday January 7 at 2100 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1323 kHz, S9 into nearby Parma SDR, inaudible at UTwente. Next: 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. Correxion to previous report, HFCC registrations for WTWW: 9940 00-24, 40 degrees, NOT 9950! It is certainly prudent for US SW stations to be spaced at least 15 kHz apart. Anyhow, not in use (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 9455, Jan 7 at 0737, this WRMI is off again after having appeared at 0000 for a few? hours, altho scheduled 24 h. At 1554 check, JBA carrier with FE flutter, so CRI Mandarin via Kunming this hour only; while 9395 & 9955 WRMIs are JBA but not fluttery. Only other hour 9455 could be something else per EiBi & Aoki: 21-22 with ChiCom jamming and RFA via Tajikistan. 9455 WRMI is on again at 2349 with music from something (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Greg Hardison replies Jan 7 to my previous report: ``'Sportstalk 8-30 AM'....i.e. WQZQ Goodlettsville TN" -- That's where I'd put my money, Glenn. Heard a beefy such-signal a couple of weeks ago on a Georgia SDR, playing hell (as it were) with religious WTRU and WCCO. Matched up the audio as a Local on a couple of Nashville-vicinity SDRs, and there we had it! Would also bet WQZQ cheats a bit with their night power; indeed I wasn't aware of any actual night authorization whatsoever. But "irregardless" (sic), man, I LOVE that SDR technology!!`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re: Kansas Public Radio hit by ice and snow. As of 18 UT Jan 7: ``Alert: Ice and snow are impacting KPR's broadcasts across our network of towers. KANU (Lawrence, Topeka, KC) is on backup generator power and is operating at a reduced capacity; KANQ (Chanute) is off the air. Thank you for your patience and understanding!`` `StarDate` starts at 1804 UT M-F following curtailed NPR news at optional cutaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2354 UT January 7

 ** BRAZIL. 28480 USB, Jan 6 at 2306, PP5MZ working Oregon, and CQ DX. QRZ.com: ``PP5MZ Brazil flag Brazil, Maikon Dario Souza, rua Caraguata n°10, Bairro Bello, Caçador, SC, 89509078, Brazil`` -- with a lengthy chronology of his city`s history, and shot of him skateboarding. Lots of other 10m sigs now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 870, Jan 6 at 0735 UT, wobbler and hardly any WWL to be heard now. Also: 1040, Jan 6 at 0742, same wobbler sound but under WHO. The Other Side: ``DIARIO DE CUBA Opinion -- How much has Cuba lost due to the 'Revolution?' Without the Castroist scourge, Cuba today would have had 15 one-term presidents of the Republic, constitutionally elected for four-year terms, and a population of approximately 18 million Roberto Álvarez Quiñones, Miami 06 Ene 2025 - 16:18 CET Fidel Castro and his troops enter on January 8, 1959. Granma [caption] Do Cubans live better today than they did in 1958? Was a social revolution needed in Cuba? Do the Cuban people really know what the country was like before 1959, and what Castroism has prevented them from doing over the course of these 66 years? Do they have any idea how they would live today if they had never been "freed from capitalism?"...`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1736176701_59201.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13650, Jan 5 at 2340, S7/S9 carrier JBM into Georgia SDR, so presumably the CRI ``Portuguese`` music-fill only relay is still turned on; at 2354 checking direct, S9 of dead air, maybe JBM. Then Jan 6 at 2302, 13650 is S9+10 direct with suptorted music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 660, Jan 6 at 0722, Mexmx dominating as KTNN fails to capture the frequency, 0724 YL ID ``Tropicalísima, 6-60, el Sonido de la Calle``, exactly the slogan in IRCA Mexican Log for XEDTL, 50/10 kW, CDMX (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [and non]. 800, Jan 6 at 0721 UT, KQCV OKC still with distorted QRM from XEERG NL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 5836 USB, Jan 6 at 2311, pirate music, with yelling, S9+10 direct. Seems I heard it before anyone on HFU who first reported Thunder Chicken at 2336; yes, that OOB frequency is correct: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,139547.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7200 LSB, Jan 6 at 2317, horrible mess of raucous bits of music, rude comments, talkovers, fonetix like foxtrot uniform, at this prime spot for naughty hams who surely earn the title of Pirates. Such as: CHINT; 2320 ``Nightrider``, Munsters theme, and more bits from TV; 2321 ``vaginal steam``; CB in Morse Code, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 640, KWPN Moore with sports owns the channel not only day but at night some 75 miles away, no good for KFI listeners. Hard to believe this: ``KWPN OK Moore – STA for U1 250/250 (expires 2025-04-20)`` as in NRC DXtra Jan 6, vs licensed U4 5000/1000 watts (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1670, Jan 6 around 2100 UT, Virtual DJ Radio audible on caradio as far away as Elm & Cleveland, WNW of ground zero, probably more due to variations in line noise levels than anything else (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 6 at 2125, OG&E Xmas transmitter is still on, but with dead air in $ tereo. The ``tree`` and the signs about it still exist just north of the Garfield County courthouse (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Jan 6 at 2300, token English from SNR, VG direct, JBA carriers on 12030, 17715, not? 17755. No news, but something about movies/music, ``Good, Bad, Ugly`` theme briefly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 6 at 2259, TRT is on, poor signal direct, 2300 JIP TRTWorld, tune-out (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. LW+ bandscan vs my huge local noise level, Jan 6 at 0702 UT, produces audible MCW IDs from 293 FBY FairBurY NE; 326 MA MidlAnd TX; algo on 338, probably RYN Tucson or TU TUlsa, and on 341 unreadable, probably mixture of OIN OberlIN KS and DNI DeNIson TX (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2276 monitoring: Also confirmed Sunday January 5 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.999-, S7/S9 into nearby Parma SDR while JBA at UTwente. The closest SDR, at Noale, disappeared months ago. Also confirmed Sunday January 5 at 2230 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, VP S7 into UTwente. Also confirmed Sunday January 5 at 2337 the 2330 on WRMI 7570, S9/+12 into Georgia SDR; and still *also* on WRMI 7780, S7/9+2 into Georgia SDR, with storm crashes. Also confirmed UT Monday January 6 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S8/9+5 into Georgia SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday January 6 at 0400 on Area 51 webcast only; that`s now on WBCQ 5130-, which had JL until 0400, then music until 0403*. Also confirmed Monday January 6 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975, unheard at UTwente, but S5/S7 into Ireland SDR. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [not Dec 31; canceled?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. WTWW: George McClintock notified me about 2345 UT Jan 6 that #2 transmitter was ready to resume, first on 9475 and change to 5085 at 0100. I then tuned in 9475 but nothing heard; however at 0000 Jan 7 I noticed 9455 was on, see WRMI log. Finally at *0042, 9475 cuts on SFAWPPPP with usual huge signal, some audio cutouts, off again at 0046*. Then I await 5085 which cuts on without ID at *0100 with SFAWPPPP, break at 0102, right back on until off at 0115*. *0120.7 back on, and so it goes, still having problems. Before the breakdowns, 9475 was starting about 2100, I think. As in EiBi, 5085 sked is 0100-0400, except UT Sat to 0430 for WOR. What`s in current HFCC for WTWW? Availabilities will far exceed axual usage: 5085 not listed! 5840 00-14, 50 degrees 5920 not listed! 9475 14-02, 50 degrees 9930 14-24, 180 degrees 9950 00-24, 40 degrees 12105 not listed 15810 00-24, 40 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, Jan 7 at 0000, first checking for WTWW to resume 9475, I notice a VG signal on 9455, so WRMI is back after losing this one a couple months ago, and had been down longer than any other transmitter. Sounds like an Overcomer service, much like but not synchronized with 9930 WTWW; I do find it matching 7570 WRMI, so that`s the source. Any resemblance to what`s on air and what`s on sked may be coincidental as at 0000, 9455 WRMI-5 is/was supposedly on System K with RAE in Japanese, 285 degrees to western N America at 00-01 Tue-Sat. More than anything else for 24h: System E, TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 900, Jan 6 at 0732 UT, ``The original KHOZ``, i.e. Harrison AR. So is there another one which is not Original?? Radio-locator shows ``Bootz 94.9``, of all things. That`s its translator frequency, tail wags dog (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 920, Jan 6 at 0738 UT, weather from WMOK. That`s Metropolis IL, U2 1000/750. Night pattern has deep notch to SW, but somelobe to West. It`s just across from Paducah KY. Fighting dominant KYFR IA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Kansas Public Radio hit by ice and snow --- Red notice atop website https://kansaspublicradio.org/ where we tune weekdays at 1804 UT for StarDate: ``Alert: Ice and snow are impacting KPR's broadcasts across our network of towers. KANQ (Chanute) is off the air. KANV (Juntion City) and KANH (Emporia) are intermittent. KANU (Lawrence, Topeka, KC) is currently at 2/3 signal. We do not expect conditions to improve soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding!`` January 6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, Jan 6 at 0658, tune in just in time to perceive RV carrier cut off, at 0658:17.5*; presumably moved to 3945, inaudible so early here and failing to provide harmonix on 7890, 11835, or even 15780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 830, Jan 6 at 0727 UT, ``Sportstalk 8-30 AM``, could be WCCO? for which sports is a subformat of Newstalk 830. Nothing exactly thus in NRC AM Log, but broad search gets several hits upon Nashville, i.e. WQZQ Goodlettsville TN, U1 2500/3 watts. It is sports but slogan ``The Fan``. Or not? radio-locator shows it as ``Classic Hits 93.3`` with 2000 W daytime only. This followed Spanish at 0726 under WCCO, most likely KGLA Norco LA, U4 5000/750 rather than one other USSS in FL; but there are 4 or 5 XEs on 830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 980, Jan 6 at 0739 UT, jazzed-up ``Ode to Joy``; ear-catching but hard to know what format classification would fit among too many stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15819 USB, Jan 6 at 1622, intermittent 2-way in Spanish. Kaput WWCR 15825 used to define the topend of broadcast band. Now the highest we normally hear is 15770 WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0303 UT January 7
