** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, June 23 at 1410, LRA36 confirmed active
this Wednesday, soon IDing, songs, S5-S7. 1425 news headlines starting
with Nicaragua but with distracting musical background. Too busy to
listen more - installing new air conditioner to be more like
Antarctica! But already off at next check 1616. Hasta el sábado (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer check, June 23 at 1353: 13530, S5-S7 music;
after Cuban spurblob survey including one QRMing 13640, 1359 back just
in time to catch a few more just before 1400* when one of them drops
after timesignal: 12880, 13020, 13130 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [non]. 11640, June 23 at 1945, nice Chinese music, not
Firedrake, since this is the so-called Portuguese service of CRI via
MALI, which has no other programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13576, S2-S4 RHC spurblob June 23 at 1354, then also 13640
clashing with CNR1 jammer, Commies vs Commies; all approx., 13759 too,
all out of 13700-AM which is S9 but undermodulated. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140, June 23 at 1901, no signal from RHC English. Recheck
around 1945 still none. In past this has shown up on 16180 instead,
mixed up with a Cuban spy numbers outlet no doubt via same shared
transmitter site, but not there now. I check a few other daytime Spy
frequencies, but nothing; none really scheduled this hour; and 16180
now supposedly not until 2054. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. A few 10m CW hambeacons by sporadic E:

28290.8, June 23 at 1749, AR AR AR DE K5TLJ/B --- ``28.2908 K5TLJ C
TRUMANN, ARKANSAS # 5 W, VERTICAL testing 10 Jan 12``, relog.

28280.0, June 23 at 1750, dash DE K5AB EM01 CENTRAL TEXAS BEACON
also heard last summer: ``28.280 K5AB C GOLDTHWAITE, TEXAS # 50W, GP
VERTICAL Power increase 5 May 16`` Town is between Lampasas and
Brownwood; or west of Waco (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2091 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday June 23
from 2100:20 on WBCQ 7489v, good via Maryland remote; and about 20
seconds ahead on WRMI 7780.

Also confirmed Wed June 20 at 2300 on WRMI 9955: at first S9+10 over
Cuban pulse jamming; by 2223 jam is gaining, but by 2228 back atop for
propagation outlook. Next, and last:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** VANUATU. 11835, June 23 at 0623, S6-S8 music vs noise level of
S5-S7; presumed R. Vanuatu 3 x 3945. Often audible as JBA carrier so a
little better tonight. China may also be on, but never more than RV
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9570-9625 approx., June 23 at 0616, S9 noise, OTH radar?
INTRUDER, vs no broadcast stations audible in this range; hardly
anything on 31m except 9665- Brasil and marginal US signals (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. Cursory CNR1 jammer survey in 12-13 MHz area only, June 22
at 1345: 13530 JBA, 13020 Chinese S7, 12500 JBA carrier (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, June 22 at 0615, the only RHC frequency still on of The
Cuban Five --- and it`s the one with a big humbuzz over the English.
Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5955, June 22 at 0616, pulse jamming against nothing --
nothing for years since R. República, Costa Rica disappeared from
5954+v. Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban Jamming Command
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** IRELAND [non]. 15170, June 22 at 1508, S9+10 into UTwente, not
Kashmir Civitas program but ``Irish songs`` only as DJ says. It is
after all, the Irish Radio Relay Service - never mind Italy, or
Kashmir. Last Tuesday may have been another one-shot for them. Tnx to
reminders from Arthur Pozner and Paul Walker. Probably via Romania.
1510 DJ again and ``Silver Threads Among the Gold``; 1522 says he
likes going to nursing homes for sing-alongs. 1526 `Sounds Irish` is
name of show, but whence? ``In Dublin, Fair City``, until dead air for
a few seconds and off 1529*.

Quick search finds `Sounds Irish` names more than one show: on Radio
Sligo, Minnesota Public Radio; tunein.com, etc. This one on FB?
https://www.facebook.com/soundsirishradio/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, June 22 at 0613, VON AWOL as has been last few
nights (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. At 2325 UT June 22, Lúcio Otávio Bobrowiec, Brasil posted to
the WOR iog: ``Hi all, On 6174 kHz Radio Tawantinsuyo of Peru back
after months. Female talks. 73 Lucio Brasil``

Lúcio, Tnx for tip! That`s 1 kW OAX7C. No way I could get it direct
with my high line noise level. A call is in to OG&E to work on that.
But up to S8 via some S American remotes, and yes, off-off frequency
about 6173.91v. Some great Andean music, Spanish announcements maybe
from a live fiesta. Hearing it from 0030. O, I think it just went off
at 0053.

Then I find a webcast which worx for their 1190 MW outlet:
https://www.facebook.com/1841454619421260/videos/524431232036999/
sounds like the same, extremely frenetic Andean music and yelling;
0101 ID; and then claims it is miércoles 2 de junio, buenos días, and
soon TC for 11:06 de la mañana, more frequent TCs in the 11 am hour,
so a non-live webcast-only program; timer countdown indicates it`s 57+
minutes long. Site says it was live about 3 weeks ago. I let it play.
Plugs contacts with some FM stations elsewhere. Never mentions SW
frequency, or 1190 for that matter. Player has still video of the
musical group in native garb, and slowly scrolling label abottom, ``La
Hora de Qataymasis`` -- ``La Expresión Andina`` -- ``con Sandro
Huallpa A.`` Qatays are brothers-in-law: if you have one, call him
that. Sandro mixes in some Quechua here and there. Audio file
concludes with national anthem by conventional brass band.

I did not close it out, and found it went on to play some other
audiovideos, such as ``Todas las Sangres`` for a couple hours, with
more interesting series of video stills. Comments indicate it`s more
recent, for Dia del padre (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 12045, June 22 at 1428, VOA Korean talk // much
stronger 12080, on two receivers, but far from synchronized. Finally
when there is a change of voices, I calculate that 12080 SAIPAN NMI is
running about 10 seconds behind 12045 THAILAND (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

Uh, we'd do what we can about the date on which to celebrate
Juneteenth, but we like it on the 19th. We think it'd lose most of its
meaning on June 14th.

** ANTARCTICA [non]. Annual BBCWS special for British Antarctic Survey
inhabitants, Monday June 21 at 2130-2200; based on last week`s tests I
did not even try to hear it direct; but camped on Pardinho, Brasil,
which someone in Shizuoka already had up on 7305 or 9505 Woofferton;
but mainly on UTwente getting 7305 very well. Usual greetings from
family, lickety-split, some bits of music, frequent ``Happy
Mid-Winter`` wishes, mostly to Rothera base. 2141 message from the
head of BAS. 2143 ``Hot and wet and muggy in London`` song; 2144
imitating a leopard singing? 2150 bit of French; 2153 bit of Russian?
2154 Ain`t No Sunshine song; 2158 produxion credits as ACI from RRI
7310 starts so I switch to LSB; off by 2200 when there is also splash
from 7300 China. There has been a lot of discussion of this, related
linx, in the WOR iog, and some have recorded and archived the whole
thing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Also confirmed Sun June 20 at 2200 on Area 51/61 via WBCQ 6158.893,
S5-S9 via Maryland SDR showing carrier offset minus 107-108 Hz. Was
already on at 2154, IS & The Planet ID loop from 2155. Then I listen
mainly to the other WBCQ for `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`, -124 Hz below
7490.000 but really on webcast despite it not being stereo.

Also confirmed Sun June 20 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9 but heavy pulse
jamming into Maryland SDR; marginally better into Bonaire.

** THAILAND. 12044.966, June 20 at 1435 music, S6-S7, VOA Korean

** U S A. 9395, June 20 at 0200-0259, Texas Radio SW via WRMI,
publicized Juneteenth special of music by Blacks only and not just
Texans. VG S9+10/20 via W8BUG remote in Knoxville-Oak Ridge close to
the azimuth; which shows carrier offset of +33 Hz. Starts with
classical piece, no announcement until 0203 by synth American-accented
voice unlike patrician Cap`n Ric. Obstacle here is reading my hastily
scribbled notes. e-QSL offer, requiring at least 20 minutes of
details. Previewing 3 tunes at a time with title and performers and I
try to copy at least the titles. First batch: Purple Rain, --?--,
Happy Birthday. The last starts at 0215. 0221 next 3: Sun Goddess,
Satin Doll, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. 0232: Love Me or Leave Me,
Troubled Waters. 0254 QSL offer again, to texasradiosw@gmail.com Then
Sunflower Slow Drag by Scott Joplin; finally more of Symphony #1 by
Florence B. Price which started the hour, now only a sesquiminute from
0258 to 0259.5 WRMI ID. Enjoyable selexion of music.

About Juneteenth: its very short notice declaration as an annual
federal holiday left private and public entities scrambling about when
and whether to observe it this year. On June 18th Friday, bank and PO
here were open as normal on a weekday. Next year the real day, June
19, will fall on Sunday and I strongly expect the fed holiday will be
observed on Monday 20 --- after all, MLK Birthday Jan 15 is shunted to
Mondays. Of all holidays, Juneteenth should be most flexible over a
7-day span of teen-days from 13 to 19! And the earlier the better to
space it out between Memorial and Fourth of July. It`s about time we
had a holiday in June (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9940-, June 20 at 0013, unlike last weekends, WTTW-2 is not

Coming Up this Sunday From 15:00 UTC To 19:00 UTC Plus Is My Father's
Day Special,
more on that in a few day's

So This Summer HANG UNIQUE!! AS In Radio..``

This used to be called C.A.R.D. for Calling All Radio Nutz. I listened
to part of one of them weeks ago and found it as scatterbrained as her
publicity.

But it`s not on the current Unique R schedule, rather Jen with
another? Show UT Sundays 1600-1800; or is it Mondays? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 6030, CFVP Calgary, Alberta, reactivated: JBA at 1545 June
19 via remotes in Edmonton. ``Best`` but still barely readable, with
laughter, Calgary mentions, via VE6ARS ``southern Alberta`` SDR,
S2-S3, 1550 UT June 19. Tnx to these tips:

David Fogarty: ``It is back on the air as of 7 am [PDT? MDT?]. Two
engineers from Bell Media, Dale and Gerry, who are also hams, VA6AD
and V6QCT respectively, rebuilt the transmitter (partially with ham
radio parts) and repaired the connection to the antenna with a
temporary matching network. I am hearing it somewhat faintly here in
Walla Walla, Washington but hope reception will improve as the day
goes on. The temporary matching network means that not all the 100
watts are going into antenna. Sent from my iPad``

Harold Sellers: ``The engineer working on CFVP 6030 kHz, Calgary
(Funny 1060 simulcast) tells me the station is back on the air as of
9:00 local time. There might be some brief interruptions as they
continue to work. Harold Sellers`` He is also QSL manager.

Radio Martí is currently scheduled on 6030 at 0000-0400(Mon 0500) &
1000-1200; plus heavy Cuban jamming, which extends past 0400/0500,
maybe all night; but CFVP does not consider QSY (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 WOOB jammer survey, June 19 at 1323: 12500 JBA carrier;
12795 Chinese S8-9; 12820 & 13020 JBAC; 13160 Chinese S5-S6; 13130
Chinese S8-S9; 13920? S4-S6; 16100 & 16300 JBA carriers. None around
11 MHz or in the 14s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13680 & 13801 approx., June 19 at 2130, FM Spurblobs with
telltale F# tone, S4-S7, out of 13740-AM S9+20 but undermodulated,
speaker with poetic intonation about Yanqui events. Also traces of
second orders, 2 x 60/61 kHz apart circa 13658, 13801, and maybe 3x =
13862. Something`s always wrong at RHC; compensates for lack of any
this morning out of 13700 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, Sat June 19 at 1500, no signal of Kashmir
Civitas nor any other day following Tuesday test. Seems a strange day
to pick for a weekly broadcast, but maybe that`s it (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, June 19 at 0555, RNZP is back here during this
hour only. I switch to next frequency 7245 and QRX for it to pop on,
which it does at *0559:19, JIP ``Mister Sandman`` song, 0600
timesignal and news, first about a tornado near Auckland. Meanwhile,
Nigeria is not being a neighbour on 7255- (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [non]. 9890, Sat June 19 at 1904 and 2246 chex, NO signal
from R. Yoruba which per HFCC is supposed to be on at 1900-2300 Fri,
Sat and Sun. It was well-heard last Sunday, but was it only a test?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, June 19 at 2130 UT, 25-watt ND beacon EI at
Woodring Airport, Enid, is S1 but clearly audible now, with one/two
dits every 8 seconds --- so when DXing this you need to pause on 341
for at least 10 seconds - more vs lightning crashes. 255-MCW kHz, SW,
Stillwater, is still AWOL. I can`t hear 332-MCW IC wIChita KS either,
but inconclusive (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, June 19 at 2205, zero signal of VOT English into
UTwente; but heavy splash from 9820 China. Something`s always
erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2091 monitoring: confirmed
new/resumed time of UT Saturday June 19 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+15/20
at KB0FX remote closer to the 355 degree angle from Okee than direct
also reading S9+10/20 but noisy. RAE in English from Argentina has
also resumed preceding, fill music to 0130 cut to WOR with no ID
break.

Also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1310 the 1300 on WRMI 15770, S4-S9 but
my altered voice unreadable. (BTW, I am better but not fully healed.)

Also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1600 on WRN webcast to N America.

Also confirmed Sat June 19 circa 1801 on IRRS 7290 Bulgaria, S9+15/20
into UTwente. Open carrier already on at 1750 tune-in, but maybe not
yet up to full power. Also usual warbling on plus side. 1800 brief
IRRS sign-on, pause and WOR before 1801. Both also detectable on 2nd
harmonic 14580. 918 kHz Villa Estense, Italy, supposed to be // but at
1816 check not, rather rock music, and local ID by YL at 1817, ``AM
Italy network, at 918 kHz AM... nice listening``. More music rest of
hour at spotchex, and 1901 similar ID in Italian, ``el primo
network``. I`ve enquired whether WOR is still supposed to be on 918?

WOR 2091 also confirmed Sat June 19 at 1935 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, via
nearby KB0FX SDR, about 2 minutes into so started circa 1933; with
heavy storm crashes --- yes, once again Blitzortung shows a little
storm right over the St Louis area, far from any others. Is the Arch
like a lightning rod? Next:

** U S A. 9330, June 19 at 2139, zero signal from WLCR via WBCQ; altho
not beamed thisaway, there ought to be something from 500 kW if really
on the air. 9265 WINB is audible only S3-S5, while 9350 WWCR as usual
blasts in at S9+40 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
