Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support:
thanks this week to Kelley Sprout, KB3LR, Hughesville PA, for a MO to
Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702. The same address for a
check in US funds on a US bank

- not necessarily US funds.

First broadcasts confirmed UT Friday March 5 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5850 VG
direct; 7780 VG S9+15 like a local to Maine SDR, but no signal to
UTwente where it`s aimed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7570 & > 7730, March 5 at 0315, both S9+30 of dead air as
Brother Scare`s feed to WRMI has failed. Also dead on weaker 7780; and
5850 S9+20/30. Other programming remains modulating on 5950, 5800, JBA
4980, 9395, 9455, but 9955 is occupied only by pulse jamming (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5890, March 4 at 0647, S9/+10 of dead air from WWCR-4
instead of Brother HyStairical. Or is there a trace of JB modulation?
This has happened before especially on UT Thursdays -- mixup in
automation scheduling? TOMBS is still nominal on squealy 3215 WWCR-1,
and on 5850 WRMI. However, by 0800, Ivo Ivanov reported no signal at
all on 5890, back by 0930. Later in the day more problems were
reported with WRMI transmitters, must be having issues (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5890, March 5 at 0305, WWCR-4 with big buzz on the Fulcher
hour audio, peaking plus/minus 4-5 kHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1540, March 4 at 0402 UT, Bob Smoak asked on the ABDX group,
``I'm getting a low pitched heterodyne on 1540 in Bamberg, SC. Any
ideas where it might be coming from?`` My first response was KGBC
Galveston TX on 1539.96 as I`ve heard repeatedly. His receiver could
not tell whether it was plus or minus.

When I tuned in myself at 0707-0715 UT, I found a carrier on 1540.210,
and so had Mauno Ritola via a remote. Could not hear any modulation on
it and hard to DF, but not KGBC which was weaker on the minus side. At
0726, KGBC had gospel-huxtering in Spanish and there`s a third station
with Mexican music, presumed KEDA San Antonio.

I`m on it again the next night from 0322 UT March 5: 1540.21 carrier
is there again and now I can DF it to WNW/ESE. Possibilities are
daytimers or peanut-powers at night, starting with 10 kW WTBI near Bob
in Pickens SC; KDYN Ozark AR; WKVQ Eatonton GA; WKXG Greenwood MS. No
others really fit the DF axis somewhat south of due east, and nothing
at all somewhat north of due west.

When it`s nulled, Mexmx is dominant, presumed KEDA with live DJ and
frequent CST timechex, but I can`t catch any IDs or local references.
Also at times looping further CCW, KGBC gospanish, at 0330 plugging a
phone in the 254 area code which is around Waco, not Houston. KXEL
Waterloo IA 50 kW not really a factor until a bit of English talk at
0346; northerly propagation diminished. May be cause of SAH about 5 Hz
vs KEDA?

Finally at 0401 amid the Spanish, a canned English ID for ``99.9 FM
serving San Antonio, Texas``. So Wayne won`t have to remind me, that`s
K260CC, as on page 299 of the NRC AM Log, part of the Group: Radio
Jalapeño. Only a minute later at 0402, live DJ pronounces KEDA in
Spanish as well as Radio Jalapeño, and plugs a 55th-annivesary event
for the station on March 13-14, with an address, and social-distancing
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CURACAO [and non]. 18133-USB, March 3 at 1908, PJ2/N1ZZ with rapid
pro-forma contacts as he says he`s trying to make as many as possible
during his stay. Mostly weak US & Canadian, but now one with stronger
XE1C, Jean-Paul en Guadalajara. Still going at 1941 check tho he says
the band is dropping out. Here, no other phone activity noted except
on this frequency. I hope he is OK, since he pronounces / as
``stroke``. I prefer ``slant``, not ``slash`` either as too violent.
-..-.

Is he from New England? Not any more. QRZ.com: ``My direct mailing
address is: Daniel Gravereaux, N1ZZ, 1221 Seminole Drive, Indian
Harbour Beach, FL 32937, USA. Email is n1zz@arrl.net 73, N1ZigZag``

As for XE1C, Jean-Paul Gütter is apparently semi-Canadian, with a huge
photogallery including lots of radios, cruise ships where he worx, and
a few of his beloved anonymous wife compared to classic cheesecake:

** MEXICO. XE1C: see CURACAO [and non]

** POLAND. 85th anniversary of Radio Poland --- I listened to the
March 1 1900-2000 English via WRN Europe webcast. Quite interesting
about its history for most of the hour except for a middle segment.

Confirmed Wed March 3 from 2200:22 on WBCQ 7490.205v, S5-S7 to KB0FX.

Also confirmed Wed Mar 3 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9+15/30 to Pardinho,
Brasil SDR, well atop Cuban jamming. Next, and last:

** U S A. Re: ``9330, March 3 at 0112, no signal from WBCQ WLCR; nor
on 9333. G1 storm and K index of 5 may have propped it out, but you`d
think at least a smidgin of its 500 kW would be detectable; all
gobbled up in the ionosphere; or serving International Vacuum (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)``

We had a snow with high winds yesterday in New Brunswick. Lost
commercial power for six hours at my house. Eastern Maine may have had
issues, too. (— Richard Langley, later March 3, WOR iog)

Earlier, Feb 28, Richard posted this:

``[WOR] WBCQ Power Supply? Blame Canada --- The northeastern part of
Maine gets a lot of their electricity from Canada -- New Brunswick to
be exact. Maine's electricity network north of Houlton is not
connected to the rest of the network in Maine. Yes, there are a couple
of small power stations in the region on the Maine side of the border
but a lot of power is imported. This was one of the many dependencies
of the U.S. on Canada that had to be made clear to the Trump
administration when they were attempting to "punish" Canada with
duties on alumin[i]um, etc. I hope Angela and Allan Weiner realize
that whenever they criticize Canukistan. -- Richard Langley``

Ironically, Angela herself is also Newbrunswickianne. Still/again,
March 3 at 1933 & 2010 chex, zero signal on 9330/9333 altho WBCQ-6 is
always weak at this time, in German to Europe. It`s not an electricity
issue now, as at 1936, WBCQ-1 is JBA with BS on signature
off-frequency 7490.192V. Richard Langley, too:

``9330 kHz is still off as far as I can tell (checked at 2000 UT
today, 3 March) using my own receiver and the U. Twente SDR receiver.
-- Richard Langley`` WOR iog.

``They had a wind storm with very cold temperatures for a few days.
Winds over 50 MPH and wind chills around -40 degrees F. Peter W
Hansen`` -- WOR iog.

The WBCQ-6 White Elephant ``Super-Station`` keeps breaking down for
some reason or another. Perhaps AW will mention it on next WW. Once
again there`s a hiatus in his twitting, not since Feb 20, altho almost
all of those were generic ``free speech`` promotions (Glenn Hauser,
OK, March 3, WOR)

** U S A. Hey Glenn: 1630 KKGM TX, does play UC (music) as a break
between news segments - the station is very strong in Austin.
Receiving Equipment: Drake R8B, Terminated Delta Antenna (17ft apex
and 28ft base), northeast, Mini-Flag Antenna (7ft by 15ft), southeast.

** CUBA. 6180, March 3 at 0104, algo JBA but not CRI relay; its S9/+10
carrier comes on late at *0105 but open for a while; by 0113 recheck
modulating in English. Understation maybe Brasil, but unseemed //
11780 with SBG excitement. In fact CRI has a 6180 simulcast English
via Kashgar, East Turkistan, land of brainwashing Uighurs to become
good little Mandarins. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 420-MCW kHz, March 2 at 0717 UT, FQ, 25-watt ND beacon
`Montz`, Fairmont, Minnesota.

415-MCW kHz, March 3 at 0342 UT, IY, 25-watt NDB `Chukk`, Charles
City, Iowa. A regular here, not bothered to log, but note that
classaxe.com shows CBC Cayman Islands active as recently as January
altho it was thought to be off by last year; also reported in February
on 415 was SLU, St. Lucia, both of which I would rather hear; but G1
storm and K=5 are insufficient.

395-MCW kHz, March 3 at 0343 UT, CA, 25-watt NDB `Harvs`, Newton,
Kansas. I was tuned to 393-USB. I would rather hear on 393, EVG in El
Vigia, Venezuela, 100 watts active last year but keying ``EVO`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 4980, March 3 at 0058, S7-S9 but undermodulated in
Asian language, Vietnamese or Chinese. Must not be Xinjiang PBS,
Urumqi graylinish, land of ChiCom genocide against the Uyghurs; but
rather WRMI with the multilingually unpredictable cultshow, `Supreme
Master TV`. However there is a hum/low audible het from a slightly
different frequency which likely *is* East Turkistan, also JBA carrier
on its clear next frequency up, 5060. As for WRMI, its next frequency
up, 5010 is stronger S9+10/20 and better modulated (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A. 9330, March 3 at 0112, no signal from WBCQ WLCR; nor on
9333. G1 storm and K index of 5 may have propped it out, but you`d

gobbled up in the ionosphere; or serving International Vacuum (Glenn

** U S A. 1630, March 3 at 0124 UT, S9+10 of music with a heavy beat,
0127 YL DJ as ``1630 KCJJ`` fulfilling a request, soul music. I was
hoping for something more than Iowa City, which has a split format of
talk and AC music per NRC AM Log; way dominant over closer KKGM Fort
Worth, with an NRC AM log update early January saying ``1630 KKGM TX
Fort Worth – Format to UC:NWS/TLK (ex-GOS/REL); slogan to “Black
Information Network,” networks to BIN. (Radio Insight)`` Does UC here
mean they also music, or just euphemise Black, in this case news/talk
of such genre? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 341-MCW kHz, March 2 at 0215 UT, ND beacon EI, Enid, is

and/or DNI in KS & TX. Here`s a reception map for EI:

That leaves 255 SW Stillwater still AWOL, as well as for much longer,
515 PN Ponca City (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** PANAMA. 18150-USB, March 1 at 2015* tune-in just in time for HP9SAM
to go QRT. No fonetix, thought at first HP9FAM, but there is none,
rather per QRZ.com: ``HP9SAM Panama flag Panamá, Stephen A. Myers,
Pocri, Province of Los Santos 0758, Panama --- The town is 1/2 the
distance between Las Tablas and the surfer hangout of Pedasi. It is
3/4 the way down the Azuero peninsula on the Eastern side. This is
literally a "cow town" as the cows are driven through town 2 or 3
times a year to change pastures.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU. 4775.05, March 2 at 0150, lively vocal music vs lite CODAR,
S8-S9 better signal than usual from presumed R. Tarma; 0158 Spanish
announcement probably full ID, including ``1,110 kHz``; 0200 some
Andean music. Checking the Progreso Cuban 4765 spurblob range,
4781-4785 so not a problem for this, but when I get back to 4775+ at
0205, it`s off, just when I was going to refine its frequency to third
digit. Is 1110 a match for their MW? No, per
http://www.radiotarma.com/informaciongeneral/
it`s 1510 but in VP reception, quinientos easily mistaken for ciento.
WRTH shows evening span of 0.5 kW OCX4E on weekdays as 2200-2400 only.
No het as Brazilian is long gone from almost same frequency.

BTW, WRTH 2021 page 315 shows 5 F.Pl = future plan Peruvian SW
stations on: 3270, 3295, 4800, 4935, 6090 --- be on the listen-out

** SWAZILAND. 9584.968, March 1 at 1510, African language S9-S5 and
off-frequency-minus. Aoki shows TWR Africa, Manzini in Malagasy M-F at
1455-1525; same span Sat/Sun it`s French (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2075 monitoring: confirmed Monday
March 1 from 1900:58 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria via UTwente SDR
Holland; S8-S9 with usual heavy bilateral splash. Earlier, carrier on

News headlines at 1900:28. Within a few minutes, considerable fadedown
making it really unlistenable, skip lengthening? So I try an Iceland
SDR, but that`s too far, very weak. Then at 1915, Carlow, Ireland,
