Hauser
** CUBA. 15700, Dec 16 at 1603, S9+20 of dead air, as CRI English
relay hour from 1500 has not yet turned off, wasting precious watts.
Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13740, Dec 16 at 1603, RHC Spanish still going here, but only
at S7-S9, which is supposed to end at 1500, let alone 1600;
something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ERITREA [non]. See FRANCE

** FRANCE. 17545V, Wed Dec 16 at 1541, JBA music, no doubt clandestine
for Eritrea, Bayto Yaikl, on apparent twice-weekly emission Wed & Sat.
As always, frequency offset+plus and wobbling, attributed to an
Issoudun transmitter. I try to measure it, cycling somewhere between
17545.050 and 17545.065. Surely same ISS transmitter is used elsewhere
than just this 30+30 minutes per week, but I have seen no other
reports of such behaviour.

Guess what: a few minutes later, bandscanning the 19mb, I encounter
another fluttery JBA carrier behaving exactly the same way! Circa
15285V, or 15285.052 at one point. HFCC shows them both, and BTW, both
brokered by RMI:

``17545 1500 1600 48 ISS 150 120 0
227 1234567 251020 270321 D 17400 Mul F RMI TDF
16017
15285 1600 1700 46S,47N,47SW,52NW ISS 150 170 0
227 1234567 251020 270321 D 17400 Mul F RMI TDF 377``

We already know that the first half of the 15-16 hour is no longer in
use, nor any of it the other days of week, but what languages of the
Multitude? 15285 is not in EiBi, but in Aoki:
``15285 1600-1700 F Radio Manara International Hausa Issoudun 1-7``/

As for 17545, this time EiBi and Aoki agree it`s ``TIG/Tig``, so is
that Tigre or Tigrinya?
``17545 1530-1559 We,Sa CLA Bayto Yiakl TIG ERI /F
17545 1530-1600 F Voice of Yiakl/Bayto Tig Issoudun 7 [= Sat only]``

EiBi readme.txt clarifies?:
``TGR Tigre/Tigré/Tigrawit: Eritrea (1m) [tig]
TIG Tigrinya/Tigray: Ethiopia (4m), Eritrea (3m) [tir]``
Apparently we have two distinct dialects if not languages, but note
the confusion as to how they are spelt, abbr`d in Roman/English.

I`ll bet the waterfalls of both are snaky. I expect there are further
instances of this off-frequency/wobbling transmitter before and after
1530/1700. I wish others would pay more attention to such clues.
KiwiSDRs with `SAM` capability display frequency offsets numerically
and their variations. Even invisibly, they are easy to observe by ear
and by precise frequency readouts to the Hz, with the right receiver
such as my R75, which should be employed to its fullest capabilities.
I further wish that our references would specify individual
transmitters by number at each site; especially HFCC. Or even their
*true* powers. Dream on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA [non]. See FRANCE

** SPAIN. 9690 > 11940 > 12030 > 11685, Wed Dec 16 at 2313 quick
check, all four frequencies of REE English in expected decreasing
signal strength and quality via TWR Bonaire SDR, as Alison Hughes is
narrating something (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 16 at 2314, VOT English, good via Bonaire I have
up, another Wednesday so another hopeful check for `Letterbox` to be
revived: NO; `Review of Foreign Press` in progress, nothing but a few
headlines but wide-ranging; the same old COVID-19 PSA of basic advice
--- but hey, it may save a few lives. Can we think of any other SW
station, even American, which does so on a continuing basis?? 2320,
`Today in History` for December 16, then nothing but music and some
IDs. Their letter box must be overflowing by now, or maybe the lack of
response is killing listener contact (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. Holiday Specials on WUOT Knoxville TN, my
ex-station:

https://www.wuot.org/holiday-specials-wuot

Already underway. Times are EST = UT -5. A good selexion. Remember
when I used to round up many more such pages? I`m sure lots of other
webcasting public radio stations continue doing that. Check home pages
for linx.

Unfortunately, I was reminded to check this with news of the shooter
killed outside the Cathedral of St John the [allegedly] Divine in NYC
at an Xmas concert. I hope it was not the annual Paul Winter Solstice
celebration, which on WUOT will be broad/webcast UT Tue Dec 22 at 0000
--- but however live they may sound, these are typically from the
previous year with plenty of post-produxion. Maybe the real thing was
tonight [UT Dec 14] in advance. Plenty of social-distancing available
in there, I suppose, but how is the central air circulation?

Later research: no, it was a `Christmas carol` concert and
you-know-what prevents a new Solstice concert this year, from the
COSJT[A]D calendar:

``Friday, December 18 --- Paul Winter’s 41st Annual Winter Solstice
Celebration 7 PM --- While we're unable to host the Winter Solstice
performance in the Cathedral this year, the celebration will continue
online! Visit solsticecelebration.com for more information...``

Well, that website goes nowhere with or without www. NPR admits that
this year`s broadcast is really from last year, which they would have
been doing anyway; question is, what year will play in 2021?

https://www.npr.org/2020/12/01/936249895/the-paul-winter-consorts-annual-winter-solstice-celebration

This explains how to purchase online access to this year`s concert:
https://paulwinter.com/event/winter-solstice-2020/
I didn`t realize they also do Summer Solstice concerts, maybe not
widely broadcast.

NOTE: Alan Roe has compiled and is updating a calendar of Holiday
broadcasts on SW starting Dec 19, notably BBC, but also US stations
and various German relays. This is being posted to the WOR iog and
other major SWL sites (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also USA: WBCQ

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2064 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday December
16 from 2100:20 on WBCQ 7490.190v, S7/S9.

Also confirmed Wed Dec 16 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, S9/+10 into Bonaire
SDR, but Cuban pulse jamming gaining as WRMI fades gradually, S7-S9
total by 2312. Next:

0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

NEW WORLD OF RADIO 2065 should be ready for download and first SW
airings UT Friday December 18 at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & 5010.

not necessarily.

** U S A. 6159.93v, replies to my report about anomalies on this
WBCQ:

``Hi Glenn, I monitored 6160 last night [UT Wed Dec 16] on and off. It
was on with Area 61 by 0040 UT. At 0200 Hal Turner Show was on. Then
at 0300 there was an hour of rock music (maybe the show called Rock
Wave); Just music, no announcements. From 0400 to 0600 was Late Nite
in the Heartland. Peter W Hansen``

``Checked 6160 just before 0500 UT December 16, WBCQ with a very poor
signal into Houston. Readable on peaks, but overall unlistenable.
CFRX 6070 does better with its 1 kW here. Stephen Luce, Houston,
Texas``

Also note that Jean Shepherd shows on `Area 61` old-time-radio block
starting nominally at 0000 UT havr Xmas-themed episodes from exact
same local dates in the `60s and `70s, at least on UT Dec 18 and 19.
Keep an eye on the weekly Area 61 previews without exact timings in
2-hour blox, at http://zappahead.net/#area61 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5985, Dec 16 at 0717, open carrier at S9/+10. Nothing
scheduled but unless something totally out of left-field, most likely
WRMI which is really here until 0600; altho this signal is a lot
stronger than normally into OK off the side of the 222-degree beam.

WRMI skedgrid shows 5985 as XMTR #2 at 0330-0600 only, the only one on
a 222-degree antenna, for Central America. EiBi and Aoki agree that is
its total timespan, but not all of it is 7 dpw. HFCC too at 0300-0600,
but also imaginary entries at 05-07 for CRI Arabic via defunct
Albania; a hole at 07-08; and 08-13 1 kW in English from RRI BIA[k?],
Indonesia. It seems the numerous wooden entries for RRI long-gone
regionals default to language English, which is ludicrous! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 328-MCW kHz, Dec 15 at 0726 UT, dash and YTL, 100-watt ND
beacon at Big Trout Lake, Ontario. Last logged Nov 11 and Oct 10; must
take about a month for them to seem newish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 6900, Dec 15 at 2328, JBA talk seems Chinese, yet S9+25
including noise level. Probably CNR1 jammer against one Sound of Hope
frequency; another carrier on another such, 6865; and not // algo on
6970, maybe the pirate relaying a North Carolina FM station (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, Dec 15 at 2324, RHC is S9+35 but JBM; OTOH, 5990, CRI
relay in English, is S9+40 and sufficiently modulated, even
splattering. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** GUAM [and non]. 15330 & 15365, Dec 15 at 2318, equal JBA carriers,
the OSOB except for 15230 JBM Cuba and 15720 NZ --- correlate as both
KSDA, in Vietnamese and Khmer respectively (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 347-MCW kHz, Dec 16 at 0249 UT, ND beacon AFK, which is 25
watts from Nebraska City, Nebraska (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9955, Tue Dec 15 at 2321. ``RME, Radio Morania External
Service --- P O Box 333 ---``, S9+30 over/under pulse jamming, and
sign-off with artificial fade during address. It`s really a classic
pirate clip on the monthly but broadcast weekly Radio Emma Toc via
WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 6159.93, Dec 16 at 0022, no signal from this WBCQ, while
7490 is audible VP. Area 61 was supposed to start at 0000, and per
http://zappahead.net/#2020-1214-area61
it would have been the Jean Shepherd show of exactly 55 years ago.
Maybe running on webcast, inconvenient to check now; seems this
transmitter is sporadic. Not rechecked until 0232 when it is on with
VP music, `God Bless America`. By now it should be amid `Amateur Radio
Roundtable` on sked UT Wed at 0130-0330. And no Hal Turner after 0200
like other weeknights. Still does not include the other talkshow after
0400, reconfirmed at 0530 check via KB0FX remote; nor WOR changed from
0400 Mon to 2300 Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5830, Dec 16 at 0341, S9+20/30 of dead air in English except
for some hum, frum WTWW-1. A chance to enjoy no Passed Pastor Pete
Peters, as I leave the dead air turned up until finally SFAW pops back
on at 0430 for tune-out. Is no one paying attention at Lebanon?
Meanwhile, 5085 WTWW-2 had a modulating gospel huxter at 0342+ instead
of rock show (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

two carriers beating; (-) audibly off-frequency minus compared to
neighbors. Performing this earlier than usual, some stations further
east are showing up. 783 could be Syria, Iran or Sa`udi; Mauritania
used to be easy regular but still inactive. MW Offsets shows
Afghanistan is 20 Hz below 1107, only one beyond Spain synchros which

** TURKEY. 5980, Dec 14 at 2123, song at S9, must be V of Turkey, the
SSOB from Eurasia, and virtually the OSOB from there. Nothing but
music for my napping until 2155 IS and Turkish sign-off announcement
to 2156.5* after attaining S9+20 but not enough to overcome my HLLNL =
high local line noise level. It will have to do as Sa`udi Qur`an is
not making it any more if still on 11820+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2064 monitoring: confirmed Monday
December 14 from 1900.9 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria, monitored via
UTwente with VG signal but as always heavily splashed frequency from
both sides: 7295 CRI English Urumqi is back on air after maintenance
break last week, and VOV English direct on 7280 is just as bad altho
half as adjacent.

I don`t get back from lunch before 1930 to hear how chopped off I may
be this week, but at 1939 I find the signal is very poor, at first
suspected off early? The two splashers remain much stronger. I try
other SDRs: closest to Bulgaria are in Romania and Greece, but they
are too far for groundwave, too close for much skywave. A JBA signal
to Thessaloniki could be Dan Roberts on SW Report or one of his
pickups. At 1950 I finally try an Eire SDR and hear IRRS definitely
still on, but only S8-S9. As usual, his SW Report chopped short at
1959 for IRRS sign-off.

I also monitored the lead-in: 1854 tune-in 7290 open carrier already
on with some hum; 7295 China not on yet but in addition to 7280
Vietnam there is a weaker with music on 7285, what? Aoki/NDXC says CRI
in Cha language from Xianyang 59 site until 1857; EiBi says CRI in AM
language from x site until 1900. ?? EiBi readme.txt language roster
shows CHA for Cha`palaa / Chacha in Ecuador; I think not; and AM for
Amoy. WRTH 2020 resolves the dilemma, showing no Amoy really at 1800
in B-19, but Chaozhou to Europe on 7285 and 6010. That language in
EiBi is abbr`d CC or [nan]! Anyhow, it`s off by 1857* but the much
stronger 7295 CRI English is on before 1900. Could our major
references ever get together on the lang. abbrs.?! Back to 7290: IRRS
ID at sign on from 1859.8, Feature Story News headlines at 1900.4
before WOR.

WOR 2064 also confirmed UT Tuesday December 15 at 0100 on WRMI 7780,
noisy S7-S9 here but VG S9+10 into Maine SDR. Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE

** U S A. 5950, Dec 14 at 2122, this WRMI is much stronger than before
with a beam change effective today from 285 to 355 degrees. That
should not make so much difference here, between them at about 315
degrees from Okeechobee. Something else must have changed, modulation
improved, power level raised, and/or antenna sidelobes are now broader
too. It`s Bob Biermann, YWS? No, wrapping up at 2158 it`s his other,
radical political talkshow, `Truth to Ponder`, wondering how much
better the new frequency is for listeners, from a postal address in
Georgia. [BTW, everything that I, gh, say is also *the truth* but I
don`t have to keep asserting that it is.] Now in daytime, 5950 is
S9+10, stronger than only S9 5800 WRMI-10 which despite its
160-azimuth is quite listenable back here, e.g. during two WOR
airings.

The WRMI skedgrid http://www.tinyurl.com/WRMIfqs has been updated as
of Dec 14, with 9455 eliminated! 5950 is now pm XMTR-8 at 355 degrees,
all TOMBS except for 21-23 various and 02-04 Hal Turner. 4980 is
supposedly reactivated as XMTR-5 at 285 degrees, the old az. for 5950,
mostly SMTV or BS but some other blox at 01-02 & 07-10 UT. Now 11710
applies to XMTR-4 at 160 degrees but with NO transmissions, yet? Be
alert for QRP exciter-level emanations like formerly 4980.

Peter Hansen sums up the swaps as: ``What was on 9455 now is on 5950.
The programs that were on 5950 are now scheduled to be on 4980. Don't
hear 4980 yet, if anyone hears 4980 please let us know. Peter W
Hansen`` Nor am I hearing 4980 by 0130 December 15. Bob Biermann
himself replies on the WOR iog: ``It may be a while for 4980. It is
going to be a difficult frequency change in many levels. Matching to
the antenna will take weeks.``

That correlates with this via Chuck Gessner at 0050 UT Dec 15:
```Posted on FaceBook about two hours ago. ``Frequency changes on WRMI
--- Effective December 14, 2020, our transmissions on 9455 kHz have
been changed to 5950 kHz, and our transmissions that were previously
on 5950 kHz will be changed to 4980 kHz in the near future. We are not
ready to begin broadcasting on 4980 kHz yet, but we hope to be ready
in the coming days. We'll keep you posted.````` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
** U S A. 9975, Monday Dec 14 at 2120 checking for KVOH to come back
after failure Saturday and holyday Sunday, but nothing yet, direct.
But at 2207 I find a big open carrier in 9980 TOMBS WWCR sideband
splash; then with some minor carrier peaks, probably really modulated
tones measured about: 9974.17, 9973.35, 9972.54. 2210 replaced by
music modulation, song mentions Esperanza, S9+20/30 vs WWCR S9+30/40!
2212.5 cuts to tone, 2213 back to praise music; 2215.5 devotional in
Spanish from Ejército de Salvación, etc., etc. This is no low power
but it still has no business 5 kHz away from WWCR.
In the next hour, Ken Zichi was also hearing this, ``9975 is booming
into Michigan at 2315 with SS music. KVOH ID at 2321 and "Voz de
Esperanza" at at the bottom of the hour. SINPO 44+54+4 with only my
local QRM poking through. This is before the listed s/on in SS so ...
a test? Good to hear it back; the Jazz show was one of my favorites
when it was on many moons ago. 73 //Ken Zichi``
Prompting this reply on the WOR iog from Ray Robinson at 2337: ``Yes,
Ken, that's us. Previously we had the transmitter running OK, but we
were only getting a fraction of full power into the antenna. Now that
has been resolved. This should be the last afternoon of testing.
After today, it will be strictly 0000-0700 UT. Ray.``
Another look at the skedgrid, which now clarifies UT vs local days:
Major music blox 6-daily, no doubt interrupted for evangelism, are:
0200-0255 `Swing Shift` with Pat Conrad, 0400-0500 `Song in the Night`
with Scott Martin; 0600-0700 `Jazz Session` with Pat Conrad. At 0231
UT Tuesday, preaching break, Pat thinks it`s ``Sunday night``.
BUT: by 0200 UT December 15, opening English, 9975 is VP, only S5-S6
to Missouri SDR, and even worse here, S5 about = the HLLNL, unusable.
Is it propagation, or underpowered again? By 0225 to MO has built up
to S6-S9, now listenable but noisy and fadey; S5-S7 into Bonaire
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. UT December 14 after 0700 UT, a very quiet night at my
too-late bedtime for more ND beacons, more under USA.
334-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0730 UT, dash and YER, 200 watts at Fort
Severn, Ontario. Where`s that? ``Fort Severn First Nation is a Western
Swampy Cree First Nation band government located on Hudson Bay and is
the most northern community in Ontario, Canada. In 2001, the
population was 401, consisting of 90 families in an area of 40 square
kilometres. Wikipedia``
332-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0732 UT, dash and YT, mixing with IC Wichita,
which is quite weak, but the usual overrider is QT from Thunder Bay.
Maybe I mis-copied. There is also YTE, 1000 watts from Cape Dorset,
which I would much rather log as first from Nunavut, and the E-dot
could have got lost in the mix. Also a third JBA signal, copied as
YIS? Does not compute. Maybe really FIS in Key West - Fish Hook FL,
400 watts. Need to try these again!
284-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0739 UT, dash and YD. Probably was really QD,
500 watts at The Pas, Manitoba. Yawn, my code-copying may get confused
half-asleep.
274-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0741 UT, dash and YPM, which is 25 watts at
Pikangikum, Ontario. DXinfocenter.com shows it in red as ``back on``
250-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0743 UT, dash and FO, 1600 watts from Flin
Flon, Manitoba.
244-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0744 UT, dash and TH, 1000 watts from Thompson,
Manitoba; the only 244 listed anywhere in North America.
236-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0746 UT, dash and CRJ. Must have been ZRJ, 50
watts from Round Lake, Ontario, ``to be decommissioned 2021-02-25``.
212-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0748 UT, dash and YGX, 50-watt NDB at Gillam,
Manitoba. New, where`s that? ``Gillam is a town on the Nelson River in
northern Manitoba, Canada. It is situated between Thompson and
Churchill on the Hudson Bay Railway line. Many residents of Gillam are
employed by Manitoba Hydro at one of their many facilities or support
groups. Wikipedia``. In 2019y, William Hepburn listed this one as to
remain on air beyond 2026y (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** FRANCE. 13660-AM, Mon Dec 14 at 1700, Alameda Bible Fellowship,
robotic readings in English, audible S7 as soon as WINB DRM closes,
via SDR in Forney, Texas. WRMI skedgrid shows this as Mon & Fri only,
500 kW, 135 degrees from Issoudun for East Africa, multilingual. I
knew it had to be ISS as soon as I heard the accompanying beepery from
always-defective transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** ICELAND. 189 kHz, Dec 14 at 0750 UT, JBA carrier and near imaginary
or trace of modulation, as I keep tuning below the ``beacon band``,
where DXing 25-watters a kilomile away is not a problem, yet
high-power Euro LW broadcasters elude me. Here`s one almost, maybe.
RÚV, 100 kW, 24 hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Besides many from CANADA, q.v., more ND beacons on a very
quiet night Dec 14:
387-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0724 UT, CAV, which is 25 watts from Clarion,
Iowa.
263-MCW kHz, Dec 14 at 0741 UT, CVM, 25 watts from Alton - Civic
Memorial, Illinois (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2064 monitoring: NOT confirmed
Sunday December 13 at 2300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160v, because it is
OFF THE AIR. Someone at Monticello didn`t get the word to turn it on
an hour earlier than before? WOR is running on the webcast.
http://splatterbox.us/area51
2325 still no SW, and HRI also missing from 2329. 2359 recheck via
Warrenton MO SDR, now 6160 on in time for `Radio Timtron Worldwide`.
Synch AM displays carrier offset as -70v Hz, as usual, like 6159.93v.
WOR confirmed UT Monday December 14 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct.
Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 14 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S9/+5 into UTwente,
after 0129 double-IDs by Zanotti and Espinal.
Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 14 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, same; and WRMI 5800
good direct; and WRN webcast, all almost synchronized.
Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 14 after 0430 on WRMI 9955, S6-S8 into
Missouri SDR; S9+20/30 into Pardinho, Brasil SDR where it`s aimed and
no jamming audible at either. Next:
1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy
0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE
0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE
not necessarily.
** U S A. 7490.15v, Sun Dec 13 at 2300, WBCQ S9/+10 direct with `Uncle
Bill`s Melting Pot`, this week with Klezmer and other Jewish music
inspired by some holiday. Better on webcast, and the first half should
repeat on both at 0000 UT Tuesday.
9395, Sun Dec 13 after 2300, another music show on this WRMI, the
new `All Tribes Radio` --- unfortunate scheduling vs UBMP on WBCQ
not to mention WOR. I`m checking ATR periodically during the hour and
do not catch a single announcement, if this be really it, just music.
I do seek out their website which also leads to disgraced FB with more
info about its SW startup,
https://www.facebook.com/notes/10154673406166739/
and illustrates their logo also on QSL captioned as ``This image
"Child Bubble Exploration" Public Domain, courtesy of NASA``
``Tribes`` implies native peoples, but this does not seem to be
``Indian`` at all, but in a much broader sense; About:
``Calling All Tribes To Unite in Peace
All Tribes Radio ·Monday, August 26, 2019·
Calling all tribes to unite in peace, All Tribes Radio (ATR) was
founded by Canadian activist and musician Ken Dunn in 2008. For over
two years, the station broadcast an continuous audio stream featuring
Creative Commons content from studio locations near Toronto, Canada,
and Nosara, Costa Rica via a server in Tampa, Florida to an average
6,000 listeners per month in over 120 countries on all continents. The
station featured trip-hop and electronic music, digital DJs, and
re-broadcast United Nations Radio feeds. In 2010-2011, ATR produced 68
1-hour podcasts. ATR was one of the first internet radio stations to
exclusively feature Creative Commons licensed content.
With the assistance of Gabriela Sequiera and La Voz de Nosara, ATR
broadcast a Spanish-language program, Radio Todas Las Tribus from
Nosara, Costa Rica featuring international latin music and local news
broadcasts from La Voz de Nosara.
ATR's Facebook page continues to attract new fans and promote peace,
social justice, and environmental responsibility around the globe.
Beginning in 2019, the original podcasts will be uploaded to
SoundCloud.`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 17775-, Mon Dec 14 at 1603, still no signal from KVOH, not
really expected; wonder what`s wrong with their replacement
frequency/transmitter, 9975, heard ``low-power`` testing Saturday
afternoon but not on UT Sunday after 0000, and never on UT Mondays.
9975 maybe back Monday/UT Tuesday? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 13655-13660, Mon Dec 14 at 1631, my previous report reminds
me to attempt to decode WINB DRM as scheduled M-F 12-17 UT. KC9FFV
KiwiSDR at Forney TX is getting it when tuned to 13655 - never mind
its LSB, S7-S8, S/N circa 14.0 dB which is not enough for solid
decode, lo-fi 8.28 kbps audio in and out with heavily African-accented
English by gospel huxter. WINB website will *not* provide a 24-hour
program sked for the webcast, but Listen Live now sounds like the same
guy; analog SW does not start 9265V-wobble until 2000 UT Mondays.
I look at the sked by program name, none obviously African, and none
in the EST AMs on Mondays, just PMs. Maybe I can catch the name,
listening again to the DRM from 1657? Now it`s stronger at S9/+10, but
SNR of only 1-2 dB! so nothing audible. About 1700 the S-meter drops
to S7 as WINB turns off, leaving the band noise level. Then I can hear
an AM on 13660, see FRANCE. BTW, WINB-DRM was back on 7310-7315-7320
after 07 UT Monday rather than unscheduled 9260-9265-9270 as heard UT
Sunday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 218-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0746 UT, dash and RL, which is
980-watt NDB at Red Lake, Ontario.
223-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0747 UT, dash and YYW, 1000-watt NDB at
Armstrong, Ontario. Also audible tuned to 222-USB.
233-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0748 UT, dash and QN, 500-watt NDB at Nakina,
Ontario, new? here. Where`s Nakina? North of the Lake Superior hump,
east of Lake Nipigon.
401-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0813 UT, I am awake later than I would like,
but try to make some use of it: dash and YPO, which is 500-watt NDB at
Peawanuck, Ontario.
413-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0816 UT, dash and YHD, 250-watt beacon at
Dryden, Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) More under USA
** CHILE? 7610.0-AM, Dec 12 at 2308, weak continuous music, JBA S8-S9
via Pardinho, Brasil SDR with lighting crashes from a few little
storms over SP state. Weaker S7, less signal but also less noisy at
Santiago SDR. I`m checking this right after I hear some guy on WRMI
7780 mention Claudio Galaz` logs of RCW again = Radio Compañía
Worldwide, considered to be a Chilean pirate, mainly reported by him.
Why not try to fix it with TDOA? 2312 first try puts it in the NE
corner of Brasil on the coast. I doubt that. Next try using SDRs in
DR, Paraguay, Chile lands at 41.20 south, 68.30 west, which is N
central Argentina. I would still not rule out really Chile. 2340
finally hear an announcement, sounds like Dino Bloise, but back to
music rather than `Frecuencia al Día` which CGT has also heard on this
station. Reception now better tho crashier at Pardinho. 2352 briely
some ``running water`` ute QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 6100, UT Sun Dec 13 at 0736, no RHC English, and all other
frequencies are off. Bodes ill for Esperanto at 0800. 6100 is normally
at least the one staying on past 0700. Something`s always wrong at
RHC. But at 0820 rousing I do find 6100 back on during Esperanto,
S9+20 but undermodulated. Next Esperanto also confirmed at 1610 on
11760 & 15140 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** RUSSIA. 4625, Dec 12 at 2358, the ``Buzzer`` in well via UTwente,
two-tone, lower-higher buzzy pulses continuously. Andy Reid had just
reported it from Ontario to the WOR iog: ``[WOR] The Russian buzzer is
propagating well as of this writing. 4625 2353 UT Dec 12``. First I
try Maine SDR but no go there, so doubt it will reach OK either.
Switching UTwente between USB and LSB by 0022 Dec 13, I notice that
the second, higher tone is hardly audible when tuned in LSB, both of
them equally, in USB. This thing has been subject of doomsday
scenarios and quite a mystery as to its real purpose (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** U S A. 251-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0750 UT, AM, 100-watt NDB at
Amarillo, Texas.
412-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0814 UT, CMY, 30-watt NDB at Sparta - Fort
McCoy, Wisconsin. I was tuned to 411-USB.
414-MCW kHz, Dec 13 at 0815 UT, SU, 40-watt NDB at Sioux City, Iowa. I
was tuned to 412-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
Wentzville MO, including the clip of ``17790 IS`` not edited out;
local quality pickup by nearby SDR at Warrenton.
Also confirmed Sat Dec 12 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, S9+10 via UTwente.
This immediately followed the R. Tirana IS until 2300, no ID break.
Also confirmed UT Sun Dec 13 at 0414 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM via remote,
already at the RCI-cuts item, so started early circa 0412. Next:
** U S A. 7490.15v, UT Sun Dec 13 at 0407, WBCQ in `Shortwave Saturday
Night`, Pirate Joe, J.P. Ferraro monolog about COVID-19, Trump vs
SCOTUS. I am standing by to hear what happen at 0430 when WHRI is
scheduled to start 7490. Just before then, PJJP is saying he would
never expect to thank the Federalist Society, but gives that credit
for SCOTUS justices, even Drumpf appointees, being
strict-construxionists denying his attempts to steal the elexion ---
when he is chopped off the air abruptly at 0430* --- does he know WBCQ
is doing this to him? Maybe pre-recorded but obviously recent/current.
His show is supposed to run until 0500.
7490.0, a few seconds later before *0431, a stronger signal cuts on
without ID, but obviously WHRI, now with gospel music and huxters;
0447 ``Hello, Overcomer`` but this is not TOMBS. 0459 ending RW
Ministry from McHenry MD, NO ID; 0500, `Christian Worship Hour`. 0558
fill music, 0558.5 ad to support Voice of Martyrs, the persecuted
Yazidi Christians in Iraq --- WHRI used to insert these between Voice
of Vietnam relays on 7315, incongruously. 0559 finally `Onward
Christian Soldiers` militaristic crusader theme and ``WHRI, Cypress
Creek SC`` ID, itself cut off by 0600* before music can finish, how
rude! All this as heard for convenience via Warrenton MO SDR still
running after WOR check earlier.
6160v, what`s on the other WBCQ? At 0422 UT Sunday December 13, A
``pagan`` show from Wisconsin, claiming to be on WBCQ Friday nights,
see the sked --- ?? NOT there or now for either frequency. By 0431,
6160 in song, 0437 an off-key parody of ``Also Sprach Zarathustra``;
0438 musing that may start a new transmitter on ``5100`` weekends, and
call it ``Area 51`` --- so decades-old recording referring to its
original frequency, later 5110, 5130, and gone; 0441 as a `countdown`
program dated Dec 10, 2001; ``Seldom Heard Radio`` with Frederick Moe,
36 West Main[e?] St., Warner NH, unclear website. One I find:
http://seldomheardradio.blogspot.com/
Lotsa stuff but dating from 2005 to 2010y only, not before or since.
The Area 51 sked merely names this hour ``Listener`s Choice``:
http://zappahead.net/#2020-1212-area51
On all other days of week, 6160v has been carrying a far-right wacko
live? conspiracy talkshow at 0400-0600 except for UT Mondays the
weekly white racist `Herald of Truth` at 0400-0500, both of which were
originally on WBCQ 7490v, but had to move and bump other programs off
6160v due to WHRI on 7490 from 0430. Once WBCQ buys WHRI, presumably
this can be rearranged more equitably. Or everything but World`s Last
Chance flat-earthiness gets blown off, like 9330.
The talkshow is *still* shown on the WBCQ skedgrid as on 7490, not
6160! Don`t blame listeners if confused about which station they are
really hearing on 7490, especially since WHRI suppresses any ID until
sign-off! Meanwhile I have been looking at the WBCQ websked to try to
figure out what is going on. At first it is very strange with spurious
words replacing some entries in the days-of-week columns: On, You,
Know. Header says something about New Year programs. Also popping up
is an offer to translate this page from Italian! Now, or always? How
about never possibly. Maybe it is being edited or hacked. It`s back to
normal by 0519 altho still incorrect (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. Via Lubbock SDR, still tuned to last night`s unsuccessful
9975 check for KVOH, Sat Dec 12 from 2020, I am hearing some S5-S7
music hard to place, but VOA Korean via Thailand is listed 1900-2100.
Oh oh, 2033, Spanish ``Ésta es --`` algo and then recognizable praise
music in Spanish, so looks like KVOH is on long before 0000, a time
not authorized, testing instead of 17775? No sign of VOA which is 250
kW at 38 degrees thisaway.
LSB needed to avoid VG 9980 WWCR, which is why KVOH is not supposed to
start until WWCR off at 0000. Maybe it`s still there somewhere, but on
website I haven`t found any KVOH program schedule for the 24h
streaming, or the former 17775 which would not be in Spanish midday
Saturday; just the new 00-07 SW segment.
[BTW, believe it or not, during this I am multi-tasking to the fifth
degree: KVOH panned to mostly one earphone from one SDR; WOR via
WA0RCR via another SDR, panned to the other earphone, including the
``17790 IS`` at 2050 which is not clipped out for ham radio, so does
not qualify as music? Plenty of ham modes employ tones in a similar
way and that`s obviously kosher; also two PBS TV channels, one of them
muted with captions; and continuing interjexions from my neighbor who
knows more about medieval Spain than the TV scholars. I, anyway, once
visited Córdoba well into the last century --- the one in Spain, not
the lesser copies in Argentina or México, or almost Alaska. That is:
``The Ornament of the World tells the story of a remarkable time in
history when the Muslims, Christians and Jews forged a common cultural
identity that frequently transcended their religious differences.``
Make that six, also writing this.]
9975: At 2049 into Spanish sermon about ``delitos`` = sins, 2051
mentions Los Ángeles``, 2054 ID La Voz de la Esperanza, carol ``El
Tamborilero``.
Ray Robinson only replies that it`s a ``Low power test.`` How low?
Still at 2214 with music. So is KVOH now all set for a real full-power
broadcast after 0000 UT Sunday December 13 as scheduled? NO! Check at
0048, nothing there via Lubbock SDR, nor at 0103 direct. 0300 when
`Wavescan` scheduled: still not via Lubbock; 0600 still nothing
direct. So it seems KVOH has not one, but two broken transmitters.
Maybe they should try broadcasting to Americas via Zambia. Hmmm,
wasn`t that originally part of the plan, at least S America? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5085, UT Sun Dec 13 at 0124, WTWW-2 still ham news, but 0128
recheck, now `TOUTA` has started, so I switch to $ tereo webcast.
Xmasmx of course, and Bob Heil says it will be nothing-but, for rest
of year, finishing at 0157 and back to inorganic rock (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9260-9265-9270, Sunday December 13 at 0738, DRM noise above
9265, but something else digital below 9265, surely WINB hybrid which
supposedly does this M-F only, and on 7315 from 0700, not 9265 until
1000! What`s going on? I have yet to get around to listening to what
programming they put on half a DRM signal, likely little but gospel
huxters, when I am conveniently on computer to access a DRM-capable
SDR, M-F 12-17 UT on 13655-13660. Here`s one DRM sked:
