** BRAZIL. 11880, replies to no DRM heard from RNA as last reported: ``11875-11880-11885, Nov 27 at 2252, cannot hear any DRM under RHC-AM in English``
``Well, they are tests, and by nature tests may be irregular. I don't know for sure, but I'd guess they are trying to fix whatever was causing transmitter dropouts all the time. 73 -- Chris Mackerell, Sandy Bay-Marahau Road, Marahau RD 2, Motueka 7197, New Zealand`` and ``Rafael Diniz via groups.io <rafael=riseup.net@groups.io> Fri 2020-11-27 9:20 PM: "Tx was shut down today, to be resumed next week with a more appropriate setup." -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** SCOTLAND [non]. 5800, UT Sat Nov 28 at 0300, once again this week, WRMI is playing `Encore` classical music. I notified the WOR iog ASAP and wondered if this replace UT Thu on same, as Richard Lemke says that was missing this week. And also Brice Avery who is unaware of this emission in his publicity. But this is a prepeat, probably first airing anywhere as on the 28/11 playlist. https://www.tumbril.co.uk/playlist-2 which I think will become playlist-1 when there is a new one next week. I enjoy the hour very much via a remote in Missouri in the Synch AM mode --- S9+30 almost ``local`` reception but totally mono. WRMI skedgrid still has a blank in this space, with Encore on Thu. About the playlist, the layout is rather confusing. Ma Vlast, for instance, does not attribute it to Smetana but seemingly to Dvorak: evidently the third column is the name of the record which presumably included this piece. In classical music, the composer always comes first --- then the title of the piece, movement; then the performers. After that the less important record title and label. The way this displays, the composer may or may not show up in any of the columns, or may be incorrect. Brice`s announcements, of course, are more explicit and with some further info. Another thing I wish he would fix: ``playing out`` on the final piece, which means it is going to get chopped off abruptly at 59:30 for the WRMI ID before it`s finished. This is extremely jarring and unfair to the music. Make the program a little shorter, 59:00? and/or start the last piece in time for it to complete, preferably also then with a back announcement and good-bye (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2062 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday November 28 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, fair S6-S7 at UTwente, Netherlands, with some storm crashes; these can be no closer than the western Mediterranean, per Blitzortung. Next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415; as late as 0500] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 61 to WSW 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 0200 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?] NEW 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 5800 to SSE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to James F. Leppard, Anderson SC, for a check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 ** U S A. (7490.1v), UT Sat Nov 28 at 0100, WBCQ webcast of `AAAWWW` notes: says is on 7490 & 6160 only. WBCQ is fine, crew is well. Looking for one or two full-time engineers to hire, good pay; very little COVID-19 in northern Maine --- but see this gh found: ``Aroostook County reports record high COVID-19 cases for a single day --- Alexander MacDougall • November 24, 2020`` https://fiddleheadfocus.com/2020/11/24/news/aroostook-county-reports-record-high-covid-19-cases-for-a-single-day/ --- County population is about 70K, he says. Aroostook is huge, the cap all over northern Maine, and down the NB border. Last week a pump blew a seal, so off the air for a day, and there was no spare, AHW`s fault, but the crew soon got it back on air. Not clear which transmitter(s) he is talking about. Still waiting to acquire WHRI, delays in getting FCC approval, maybe because they are working from home. Otherwise would be on air right now with World`s Last Chance program --- and he mentions NO other program in connexion with WHRI, so it`s pretty clear WLC is bankrolling this too. Believes China should compensate handsomely every single American for the virus which was no accident. Discussing safety measures around electricity, and that common household 120V AC is among the most dangerous, because it locks your muscles up so you can`t let go before it kills you. So avoid getting shocked. At 0124 finally datestamps this as 27 of November YOOL 2020. Then reads a Nov 18 Radio World article about stations other than KDKA being ``first``, such as MXZ Marconi in England, 9XM Madison WI now WHA, 8MK to WBL to WWJ Detroit. Discussion of VLF stations such as NAA Cutler, Maine. 0149 Angela reads some e-mail. AHW has A-Fib (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490, Nov 28 at 0528, outro of `Heart to Heart with Kimberly Ann`, World Harvest Radio promo, 0530 Pete Sumerall introduces late father Lester. So it`s WHRI as registered in HFCC B-20 for 0430-0600. Yet, the WBCQ program schedule claims it is on 7490 at 0400-0600 with a wacko conspiracy show I am not going to name. Since I first pointed out this anomaly of WHRI signing off 7490 at 0600, there has been a resounding lack of interest: it seemed as if WBCQ might already be doing some programming on a Furman transmitter. 6160, Nov 28 at 0545, I monitor 6160v which is certainly WBCQ while a talk show is in progress --- is that the one their schedule mistakenly shows as on 7490? At 0554 host says not going to do a third hour tonight --- that`s certainly flexible! Refers to ``want to show you this ---`` so apparently originally a web/podcast with video. As commercial plug. Jeffrey Daugherty is host, so that clinches my conclusion about WBCQ showing wrong frequency on sked (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re last report, 17775-, KVOH being off: converting PST to UT, I was thinking 21, but somehow wrote 18, sigh; fixed: ...We expect the power to be returned by about 1 pm Pacific, [21 UT] but KVOH will be off by then anyway. Ray`` We shall hear if it`s really repowered by 1600 Saturday for Wavescan (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0616 UT November 28

** BRAZIL [and non]. 11875-11880-11885, Nov 27 at 2252, cannot hear any DRM under RHC-AM in English at S7-S9; meanwhile RNA-AM on 11780 is S9/+20 with flutter, unusual for trans-equatorial on HF. Brasília KiwiSDR at 2312, hears only JBA AM carrier on 11880. Nothing listed after 2300; occurred to me later, possibly 2nd harmonic from the Brazilian but that would land on 11879. So what became of the 24-hour DRM tests? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13564 & 13837 approx., Nov 27 at 1440, S3 FM spurblobs with F# tone out of S9+10 but undermodulated RHC 13700-AM; the lower one blots any chance of hearing K6FRC, 1.8 milliwatt HIFER beacon in California on 13565, but have not heard it for quite a while even when in the clear. These are second-orders, while the first-orders, plus and minus 68 kHz, circa 13632 & 13768 are S6. All still there at 1527 recheck. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** FRANCE. 18146-USB, Nov 27 at 1532, ham contact in French, then pileup and quick contacts in heavily accented English with US stations; with each one he gives temp 10 C, geographical location and spells name. QRZ.com shows: ``F5CAC France flag France, Christian Rebout, 45 Grande Rue, 25310 Abbevillers, France. Is there a contest? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, Nov 27 at 2253, soft YL vocal music but mostly instrumental, S8-S9, past 2300 no ID, direct; sounds better via remote iin Missouri, still music at 2322 but reads only S6-S7. 2325 chirping sounds but not like usual SSTV, but no more music. Still thus at 2342, like multiple crickets, so something else? This had been Mix Radio International, widely reported since 1900: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74882.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Nov 27 at 2259 direct, no signal from VOT English to us; something`s always erroneous at Emirleer. Same at 2311 via UTwente but getting weak Chinese, i.e. PBS Xinjiang, 5960-, Urumqi, East Turkistan, land of cultural genocide and brainwashing of Uyghurs, which per EiBi starts at 2310. Would you believe that some editor won`t let me make that remark? It`s the least I can do, surely not much, to oppose and expose the ChiCom (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 404-MCW kHz, 1339 UT Nov 27, ND beacon HU, which is 25 watts from Hutchinson, Kansas. Mixing with at very different pitch: 407-MCW kHz, 1339 UT Nov 27, ND beacon HRU, 25 watts from Hoisington, Kansas; tuned to 404-USB, mixing with HU --- Hoisington is NE of Hutchinson, ESE of Salina, S of Junxion City (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. Before I could report this, explanation was already in from Ray Robinson of KVOH to the WOR iogroup at 1752; would that more station personnel were so forthcoming explaining anomalies without even being asked: ``[WOR] Power Cuts --- Due to high winds, Southern California Edison has today been cutting power pre-emptively to subscribers in Los Angeles County and Ventura County. They are concerned that downed power lines may cause fires and result in law suits against them. Unfortunately, the areas they have targeted this morning include both the transmitter sites for KVOH-SW and for our sister FM station KWSV 99.1 The Ranch. As a result, KVOH is currently off the air, and the FM station is operating from a back-up transmitter at another location. We expect the power to be returned by about 1 pm Pacific, [18 UT] but KVOH will be off by then anyway. Ray`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN [and non]. 15550, Nov 27 at 1528, OC, 1529 echoey talk with flutter, S7-S9, 1530 Radio Dabanga song, i.e. for Sudan via SMG site. Fortunately, WJHR with better signal is still on 15555-USB, not 15550 where Aoki/NDXC shows it, after brief jumpto months ago. 15400, Nov 27 at 1528, R. Tamazuj ID in passing, i.e. for Sudan South also via SMG, this one amid hour broadcast. 1531 sounds like Arabic, but presumably Juba dialect (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) TIPS FOR RATIONAL LIVING ++++++++++++++++++++++++ COLUMN: TO SAVE OUR REPUBLIC, WE MUST BE GRATEFUL ...decadence yields ingratitude, ingratitude yields laziness in the populace, and a lazy populace is easily oppressed. ** BRAZIL [and non]. 11780, Nov 25 at 2302, RNA-AM is S9+5/15 at Bonaire SDR, compared to RNA-DRM on new 11875-11880-11885 as first covered in my last report; which is now S8-S9 when the noise is tuned in SAM mode, as still no audio decoding in DRM mode, at first displaying 0.00 kpbs, then jumps to 19.80. I may not know how to get the best results out of DRM SDRs? At 2308 I compare it to OCB-DRM on 7340-7345-7350 which displays S9+15/20, 9.76 kbps with audio cutting on at times.
At 0055, I try Pardinho, Brasil SDR which does hear the noise on 11880, but with ACI splash from 11885 CRI in English. RNA-DRM is supposedly running 24 hours, and being experimental may explain the problems in receiving it. They were supposedly going to switch to more user-friendly parameters the next day. The Brasília SDR would be interesting to try if available, at local? range (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13630 & 13771 approx., Nov 26 at 1507, RHC FM spurblobs with F# tone, S6-S7 out of 13700-AM, but JBA on second-orders circa 13561 & 13842. Note: technical problems delayed full editing completion in time for this, so played without the usual opening, which is there on all repeats (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490), Nov 27 at 0300-0400, enjoyed hearing Uncle Bill`s TG special with participation of other WBCQ entertainment shows, while writing this report, via webcast. Would like to have plugged it on WOR 2062, but it would have been a past-thing on all my repeats except for the very first airing, and AFAIK they are not retrievable later, altho YouTube or something could spare the bandwidth (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 660, November 26 at 0704 UT, mix of stations but silly sports news is dominant, and 0706 WFAN ID from New York; not often heard here, nor would I ever want to, vs Mexico, Cuba, Balch Springs but no sign of KTNN AZ/NM, which recently had been reported back east, even in NY state, despite supposed to notch a null toward NYC; so I guess it`s back in whack. 50 kW KTNN is not hard to hear here when ND around SR or SS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2062) This report despatched at 0505 UT November 27

** BRAZIL [and non]. 11875-11880-11885, Nov 25 at 1949, TWR Bonaire SDR is getting an S6 steady DRM noise signal here, ~9 dB SNR, but nothing decoding to the ear. Via Richard Langley, this has just been reported in the DRMNA iogroup as the new frequency for RNA DRM tests; and it`s already shown on the SDR menu as available 24 hours. This should make for an interesting collision with RHC-AM at 2100-2300 in French, English for Africa. Further monitoring:
2055 & 2058.5, break of a few seconds in DRM noise and back on, more to come: 2100 no sign of RHC yet, nor by 2108, just DRM. I have other stuff to do and not rechecked until 2134 --- now RHC is on, in Brazuguese, no less, along with the RNA DRM, roughly equal levels here and Bonaire, then RHC mostly atop but with fades; 2139.5 & 2142, more momentary breaks in DRM, but RHC is also off at 2141-2144. Meanwhile someone else is trying to hear 11880-DRM via Bonaire from Patos e Minas, Brazil. And so it goes --- (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 6020, Nov 25 at 1900, S8 via UTwente SDR, CRI theme, ID in Chinese and then ``Ju Flet ---`` which nails it as Albanian. Then YL narration with sound-effects, not just music. This caused confusion when first reported from Europe, but now we know from Albanian expert Ullmar Qvick in Sweden, BC-DX: ``CHINA/ALBANIA, RADIO EJANI on 6020 kHz heard at 1900-1957 UT has caused confusion. This is the CRI service in Albanian using the superpower tx in Shijiazhuang and carrying the program of the China-owned FM station Radio Ejani (Radio Come! in Albanian) broadcasting fram Tirana and Durres on 106.0 MHz since 2013. Pop music programs with frequent IDs "Radio Ejani" and final CRI announcement in Albanian from Beijing during the 1-hour transmission. The tx then carries CRI in Polish at 2000 z (Ullmar Qvick, Norrköping-SWEDEN, Nov 22)`` Like several other languages, CRI is unable to produce own programs in Albanian, so this is the roundabout substitute. Kai Ludwig replies: ``In case I keep forgetting to check it: Should be // 7385 kHz. The inserted CRI ID suggests that this simply replaces their own Albanian-language radio productions. Remember that in last year CRI made drastic cuts to its linear radio programming, reducing many language services to hardly more than music and already telling listeners in Brazil that the radio service in Portuguese has ceased. Radio Ejani just *is* CRI: https://www.facebook.com/pg/RadioEjani/about/ No contacts in Albania whatsoever, so apparently the two FM transmitters just take a feed from Beijing, and this program output is now also routed to the transmitters in China previously used for separate Albanian shortwave broadcasts, if they still did them for some time after 2013 at all. Kai`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7255-, Nov 25 at 0636, VON is back on tonight, S9+10/20 but undermodulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. I was hoping someone on HFU would have IDed this and/or copied the code (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) Ron Howard replied: ``Glenn, Was also listening to this station. Please listen to my recording and let me know what you can make out. Thanks. Nov 25, on 6924.88 AM, tuned in at 0149 UT to non-stop LA music; 0206, CW (assume ID?) followed by spoken ID (loop); 0209, test tone, followed by more of the same type of music. |
Wednesday, November 25 2020
** ARMENIA. 9290, Nov 24 at 1355 past 1400 with no break, S Asian language at S6-S9. Still there but weaker at 1417 vs running-H2O QRM. It`s TWR-India via Gavar, in Hindi daily 1345-1415, amid a total span of 1315-1445 in various languages. Aoki/NDXC shows Hindi until 1420 on weekdays, otherwise English until 1425*, extended to 1445* weekends (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** BRAZIL. UNIDENTIFIED. 4925, Nov 25 at 0217, JBA talk, equivalent VP signal to S Americans on 4940, 4885. Only 4925 in EiBi is Korean numbers not at this hour but if on would not be propagating. WRTH 2020 has 5 kW Rádio Rural, Tefé, Amazonas, Brasil as irregular. Aoki/NDXC shows 0930-0200 as if regular. Not reported lately, but found this from JRX in Brasil: ``4925. Apr 15, 2020. 0313-0333, Rádio Educação Rural de Tefé, Tefé-AM, in Portuguese. A musical program with variety songs; Female voice; A song; Male voice, ID and announcements; 0331 A song; 0333 Ends and sign-off. Poor reception.`` I don`t get around to checking TWR Bonaire SDR for this until 0333 --- nothing there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. CNR1 jammer search WOOB November 24 at 1346: JBA Chinese or JBA carriers: 11500, 11460, 11440, 11150, 11100, 10870; none in the 14s, 13s, 12s; 9315, 9300, 9180 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11850, Nov 24 at 2205, RHC is dead air, then ramps up to JBM Spanish, perhaps a typical sign-on warmup, only S4-S7 as is English on 11880. Something`s always wrong at RHC. But recheck at 2348, 11850 is off. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 9700, Nov 25 at 0222, RHC English is S5-S7, undermodulated, unusable. Only //, 6000 is even worse, S9/+10 and JBM. Somethings are always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6924.884-AM, Nov 25 at 0223, VP S7-S8 music, only pirate activity now; 0232 brief announcement, more music, LA? 0253 still going, at 0254 into MCW, but fading and only partially copiable and perhaps with errors; ``CA - OA - OIAEN - ZAN - ORA - ABEC``, until 0258*. Thought it might be Nova, which does CW IDs, but no fit. KIPM was reported on ``6925`` as late as 0130, but in USB: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74782.0.html Stardust Five Laser Radio was on 6925-AM, but not since 2158 Nov 24: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,74777.0.html I was hoping someone on HFU would have IDed this and/or copied the code. Nor any old hits there on the exacter frequency 6924.9 -- but I had such a log last Feb, which led back to Captain Morgan SW in May 2017 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PANAMA. 18146.8-USB, Nov 24 at 2155, HP3SS working US stations, at 30 miles from Costa Rican border in western Panamá. Sounds like an American --- no, Canadian, without a specific address in QRZ.com: ``HP3SS Panama flag Panama, Robby Robertson, Volcan, Panama. QSL: via AC2OV`` and: ``Please do not send mail to Panama. I will not recieve it. Please do not QSL via buro. I do not recieve cards from the QSL buro. I have been living in Panama since October 2015. I operated as HP3/VY2SS for a year while I waited for my Panama call. I enjoy contesting and DX. My equipment is: Flex 6400 and Ameritron AL-1200. Antennas are: 20M-6M - 3 element Steppir yagi at 75 feet. Please QSL direct to AC2OV with SAE and sufficient return postage. Previous calls - VY2SS, CY9SS, VE2/VY2SS, VE7ARS, VE8HF, VE3FYB, VE1AGN``. BTW, in my daytime bandscans between the ham and bc bands, I routinely tune across the 17.9+ MHz aero band --- and *never* encounter any activity. EiBi lists a number of stations around the world available 24 hours, starting with Albrook, Panamá on 17901. Maybe the aeronauts are writing off this band as dead even when it isn`t (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 414-MCW kHz, Nov 24 at 0708 UT, ND beacon ATS, which is 25 watts from ArTeSia, New Mexico; also audible tuned to 412-USB. Last logged Oct 6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 21250-USB, Nov 24 at 1859, WW2DX calling CQDX 15, good signal yet the OSOB; what a desirable vanity callsign: ``WW2DX USA flag USA, Lee J Imber, Pawling, NY 12564 USA``. Per QRZ.com he`s quite the DX-peditioner, including Sable Island postponed from Oct 2020 to Oct 2021 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2061 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday November 24 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VG S9+15/20 via UTwente; at 0121 check direct, poor S8-S9. Also confirmed UT Tue Nov 24 at new time 0200 on WRMI 9955, S9+10 direct. Also confirmed UT Tue Nov 24 at 0330 on WRMI 5800, S9+10/20 direct. Next: 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. I neglected to include the time of UB`s TG special, fixed: (7490.1v), UT Tue Nov 24 from 0000, WBCQ webcast cuts off some wacko conspiracy talk for 50% of `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`, replay from 25 hours ago when it all aired; starting with a scrotum song, but we have been warned. Also plugs his TG special UT Fri Nov 27 *at 0300-0400* on 6160v & 7490v. I often catch this semi-repeat due to a scheduling conflict the day before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Nov 25 at 0215, WTWW-2 is S9+30 with request request, not so distorted as the music before and after it, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 10533-USB, Nov 24 at 1348, 2-way in language, maybe Indonesian, as I am patrolling for CNR1 jammers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0418 UT November 25
