Another check at 0525: 9700 is on over CCI which would be Turkey; 6100
and 6060 are absent; 6000 suptorted; 6145 in Romanian which must be
RRI, perhaps explaining why RHC evacuated tho I had not noticed this
hour collision before. By 0608, 6100 is finally on, VG S9+30/40, so

anything on R. Kuwait frequencies. Pedro Sedano, Spain, had recorded
the 0800 UT sign-off announcement on 15530 saying that was on 11970
and English would resume at 1800-2100 on 15540 for Europe and North
America --- altho morning English recently resumed replacing Arabic,
still no evening English, unless on and not propagating, but I doubt
that, rather a very old recorded outdated announcement. But perhaps
there be hope. That transmission presumably still exist at least on FM

on 6160v & 7490v. I often catch this semi-repeat due to a scheduling

** ALASKA [non]. 13670, Sun Nov 22 at 1840, clear speech by YL in
Russian about Yesus, i.e. KNLS via its other station MWV MADAGASCAR;
tnx to tip from Richard Langley. This hour is supposed to be `African
Pathways Radio` in English. RL has previously heard them running KNLS
in English. Now it`s not only the wrong ``station`` but wrong
language. It`s almost as if they are randomly grabbing program files
to put on the transmitter. 1847 indoctrinated kids singing `Jesus
Loves Me`.

Transmission break before 1900, but 13670 back on by 1902, again in
Russian! Instead of Arabic scheduled now. Also S7-S9 direct. 1927 KNLS
ID. Axually this seems to be a transmitter mixup. The other one is
scheduled in Russian at 18-19 on 9880, 19-20 on 9845. What`s on them
now?

Well, at 1940, 9845 via UTwente is playing ``Light My Fire``, in
English, hardly a gospel song, extended version. 1946 segué to another
hard rock song with screamer, maybe Janis Joplin? I`m no
rockficionado. 1951 another familiar hard rock song to 1955*, never
any announcements, so can`t tell what language service this was
supposed to be --- but hardly the fare to be expected out of World
Christian Broadcasting, despite its relatively diverse format on KNLS
& MWV. Could it be that they have rented out one transmitter to
something else, and consolidated their own programming on the other
one, resulting in these language mixups at Mahajanga?

13710, after 9845 goes off, I retune UTwente to the next scheduled
frequency for Arabic at 2000, and its carrier pops on at *1955.8,
S9+20; 2000 ME music starts, and Radio Feda ID mentioning Mauritania,
and so really in MWV Arabic.

11965, checked at 2001, Arabic song, and announcements by same M&W but
no mention of Feda and definitely not // 13710 --- two separate Arabic
programs at once. Instead of scheduled English. Later does mention
Feda in passing. 2015 with times in Greenwich and Qahira. WHAT is
going on here?? All of these with VG signals into UTwente.

BTW, I misspoke on WOR 2061, about previous MWV anomalies, sometimes
interchanging Chinese hour with Arabic, not ``African`` (Glenn Hauser,

more of it on 13740 & 13700, without spurs today. Arnie is almost
incomprehensible, babbling lickety-split --- you know, this almost
sounds like he`s artificially sped up.

Somewhere I have a cassette recorder with that feature, variable speed
playback, so you can compress speech and listen to something in less
time than originally, yet without raising the pitch as would happen by
simply playing a reel tape faster. Is he really doing that in order
to cram more content into limited time available? Something`s always

** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-LSB, Nov 21 at 2301, R. Habana Cuba is again
like this morning on 6950, a big mistake instead of 9650 by the
incompetent lysdexic sloppyrator --- but with heavy QRM from a pirate
which appears to be deliberately jamming it on LSB only --- about time
RHC got jammed! By 2303 the pirate music has switched to SSTV beepery,
2304 a few clock chimes and back to music, hard-rock guitar and vocal,
mostly overriding RHC also when tuned in AM mode, thanks to RHC
carrier.

Eric Fetters-Walp replies at 0017 on the WOR iogroup: ``Yes, indeed,
that was the pirate known as Damn Skippy, famous for sending many SSTV
images during his broadcasts. Both he and RHC were audible even in AM

** CUBA. 15700, Nov 21 at 1523, CRI English relay at S9+30 but
undermodulated and hummy. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba but

better than // 6000; so supposed to run until 0800? But Ivo Ivanov

BTW, I missed it, but several others caught RHC on 6950 around 1400
Nov 21, which looks like a keypad punchup error by sloppyrator for new

** PRIDNESTROVYE. 11530, Nov 21 at 1527, Dengê Welat at S5-S8 in
presumed Kurdish with long/short path echo. Annoying as it may be, a
sign of improving propagation when a signal reach us both ways.
Assuming this is not the Turkish jammer, distance from Grigoriopol`,
Moldova to Enid is 5805 statute miles short, so long path 24900 minus
5805 = 19185. Difference between 19185 and 5805 is 13380 miles. At
lightspeed of 186 kmiles/second, the echo delay computes to 0.072
second, or about one fourteenth of a second. Sounds about right (Glenn

watts from Little Falls - Camp Ripley, Minnesota, between St. Cloud

another. More at omiss.net. N4UT admits he is in Virginia. Is this for
alumni, or what? Apparently nothing to do with Oxford, rather stands
for OM International Sideband Society. Does this mean YLs are
excluded? Apparently for expediting award-chasing such as WAS (Glenn

** U S A [and non]. 17700, Nov 21 at 1924, huge S9+20/30 signal
slightly overmod/distorted in French with heavy African accent, got to
be VOA Grimesland NC - not noticed before but in B-20 HFCC for one
hour daily at 1900-2000, 250 kW almost due east and plenty to the
west. Also a lite long-path echo which is getting close to the max
from a site short-path so close. Soon to interviewer speaking proper
French.

Is it // 15730? Seems same but far out of synch and much weaker,
chopping off at 1928*. 17700 still going past 1930 but with a program
change. Then I find 15730 back on much stronger than before, S9+20 and
now it is in synch with 17700; discussion about Burkina Faso. Yes,
15730 makes a site switch from BOTSWANA to GB at 1930, but it is

ID mentioning SW target countries including United Arab Republic: the
union of Syria and Egypt which lasted only 1958-1961y altho Wikipedia
elucidates: ``a sovereign state in the Middle East from 1958 to 1971.
It was initially a political union between Egypt (including the
occupied Gaza Strip) and Syria from 1958 until Syria seceded from the
union after the 1961 Syrian coup d'état  —  leaving a rump state.
Egypt continued to be known officially as the United Arab Republic
until 1971``.

At 1530, 9955 starts in Spanish, but immediately blasted away by
switch to Brother Hystairical incomprehensible rant, as TOMBS is
extended Sabbathdays only past 1500 on several other frequencies for
live disservice until 1700; yet sked is contradictory about 9955,
still showing 1500-1530 S&S as `Full Gospel Hour`, with Blalock the
Blaster, but I just missed confirming whether he was really still
Touretting before 1529. Skedgrid also shows besides the daily TOMBS
frequencies 1700-2100, 5800 also stays on Saturdays only. Confirmed at
1800 via TWR Key West KiwiSDR, *much* better than JBA 5950 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 11252-USB, Nov 21 at 1342-1345*, 2-way in
Spanish, reception good enough from both sides, but I can`t figure out
what they are talking about, and wonder if even a native speaker
could. Light QRM from VOLMET by YL on 11253-USB, which is getting a
lot more QRM from this, i.e. RAF somewhere in UK (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** CUBA. 4747 & 4782 approx., Nov 21 at 0236, ratchety spurblobs out
of 4765 R. Progreso, plus/minus 17-18 kHz. Something`s always wrong at
RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 6000, UT Sat Nov 21 at 0125, RHC English on here
only but no 6145, unsure of 9700 yet, if on not strong into a
portable. Anyhow starting circa 0100, not 0200.

9700, by 0205 Nov 21 on the R75 I am hearing this new RHC English
frequency with much-delayed B-20 sked going into effect, but it`s only
S3-S5, much less than 6000 which is S9 but undermodulated; and 9700
pales by comparison with the bigsig next to it from 9690 Spain.

9700, by 0333 Nov 21, this RHC has surged to S9+20, now stronger and
with more modulation than 6000. At 0452 checking 9700 at Maine SDR,
roughly equal collision, as predicted with Turkey in Turkish which was
already there for B-20 at 04-07 UT; but at UTwente, only TRT.
Something`s always wrong at RHC.

6060, Nov 21 at 0459, Arabic music VG into Maine, i.e. ALGERIA via
FRANCE with signature clickbeeping on defective Issoudun transmitter
but cuts off by 0500 leaving nuttin` but noise. Still no signal at
0548. RHC is supposedly reactivating 6060 in Spanish at 01-05, English
05-07, or -08? Maybe later, but if so this will be colliding at 04-05.

** JAPAN [non]. 9560, Nov 21 at 0334, news in English all about
COVID-9 especially concerning Japan. Includes brief snippets of
citizen comments voiced over into English, just like NHK does on TV.
This is the *Swahili* service, but still inserting part of TV news
audio in English instead of proper language. It`s also a defacto North
American service, always with a good signal from MADAGASCAR, 250 kW at
320 degrees toward E Africa but carrying on into deep North America.
Shhh, don`t tell anyone as we are not supposed to listen to Radio
Japan in English on SW! 0339 plays some jingly-music, maybe to
accompany video-only world weather info? But 0340 back into Swahili
after seeming to intro show as ``Day Now``, of course IDing as
required with English name ``NHK World`` in all languages; into songs

** MADAGASCAR. 5009.919, Nov 21 at 0240, JBA talk maybe French from
RNM always off-minus, S8-S9 vs noise level of S6-S7; WRMI closes at
0230 clearing for this which now copes only with that chirping from
5007. India is gone for good from 5010, but if WRMI-14 is weak enough,
you might hear a het from Mad. before 0230.

4980, BTW, still not hearing any JBA carrier or modulation from
WRMI-4. For a while this frequency was displayed on the skedgrid as #4
but with NO timeblox. Now I see that has been replaced by 11710, so
maybe there are plans for 11710, perhaps even with full power, but
nothing yet. 11710 has been registered in Jeff`s HFCC as 23-03 in
English & Spanish, 100 kW at 160 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

like conspiracy theorists`` meanwhile going on about this thinly
veiled anti-Semitic stuff; ``the elexion ain`t over`` so plenty more
politiix in store this week. AHW wants to play some podcast he heard
but has to do it by holding his phone up to mike. Tune out. Tune back

is still going back on webcast, but studio quality so AHW must have

** U S A. 5800, UT Sat Nov 21 at 0320, WRMI S9+20/30 with operatic
duet --- certainly not another TRSW repeat as rumoured. Who would be
playing classical on WRMI but Brice Avery? Yes, it is additional run
of his `Encore` hour, temporary fill or not? Soon outro as a
bass/tenor duet from `The Pearl Fishers` by Bizet. 0352 recheck, about
to ``play out`` with Schubert`s String Quarter #13, second movement.
These are from the 21/11 Playlist, already airing. Play-out means
Brice signs off early and never says anything at the very end; instead
the music is still playing at 0359.5 when it`s chopped off for ID,
0400 dead air and about to turn off. What will occupy this
