4950kHz, R. Nacional de Angola. RNA returned at 07/13 after being off since March, most likely due to the elections that took place at 08/24. After this event ended, RNA was already off the next day at 08/25. The current president of Angola, João Lourenço (MPLA), was declared at 08/29 the winner of the elections. The country experienced a 27 year civil war, after Independence from Portugal. The groups MPLA and UNITA fought each other until 2002. The balance was more than 500.000 dead (LOB-B).

revival special via AUSTRIA, opens with IS, ID, songs and lots of
French talk; only thing I recognize is `Rhapsody in Bleu` at 2230.
Continues until 2400*, VG S9+20/30 into Maryland SDR (Glenn Hauser,

** CUBA. 15140, Sun Sept 4 at 1443, RHC Spanish, S9+20 but distorted,
slightly less so on 11760; ditto during token Esperanto at 1512 check

** EGYPT. 9440 minus 5/6 Hz, Sept 3 at 2223, R. Cairo at S8/9+15 into
Maryland SDR mostly humwhine, distorted English? modulation, useless.

** NIGERIA [and non]. 7255-, Sept 4 at 0630, VON is on at S7/S9.

7255-, Sept 4 at 1857, tune-in via Canary SDR just in time to hear VON
sign-off in English, drumming IS, vs open carrier from CRI, but
holding its own tho slightly off-key as result. Did not get frequency
measured exactly in time. 1900 CRI IS overrides, Turkish via Kunming
far beyond (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960, Sept 4 at 0048 tune-in direct, two AM pirates
are colliding producing slow SAH, then stronger one goes off, leaving
a USB one with rap at S9+10. At 0054, ``tick, tock, *uck off`` song
now with QRM from AM station; 0056 `Georgia` song; 0059 ``The greatest
hits of all time, the Ball Smacker, on 6960 shortwave``.

Museum shows `tune your radio to 90.3` to hear Windmill Willie. We
visited there years ago when there was no FM sign. Unique museum!
