Glenn Hauser logs July 8-9, 2022 |
|
Saturday, July 09 2022
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Saturday July 9, I start listening at 1450 via Argentine remote; LRA36 abruptly cuts on air during song at *1455.7; 1501 standard canned sign-on including Spanish/German/English/Korean warning that this is going to be in Spanish, ``Ciclo Radial 2022 Audaz``. Staff names, 1502.7 Antártida themesong; 1507.7 ``su compañía`` ID, 1508 song; 1512 YLs seemingly live greeting originally on Wednesday, as program #10 in the 2022 Esperanza Audaz cycle, ``bajo el cielo más austral``.
This conflicts with a sporadic E FM DX opening from the west I have been missing, so I move to the caradio, while blotting a potentially ``open`` but unlikely frequency, 90.7 with my RF feeder from the computer; and check it occasionally while failing to ID any FM DX in bandscanning. 1529, LRA36 still going with this-week-in-history, July 7 something about condors. But it`s OFF already at next check 1534 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 9673.80 / 9873.86, July 9 at 0621, RVM praise music jumping around these two spots as I try to measure it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13670 & 13810, July 8 at 0157, clicking like modulation peak spikes, and since they are 70 kHz equidistant from 13740, I conclude they be produced by that RHC transmitter. Unlike the spurblobs in the mornings from 13700: these with no F# tone, no FM, no mush. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13629 & 13772 approx., July 9 at 1436, FMish spurblobs from 13700 RHC, during extremely distorted music, F# tone, S5/S8 the lower and S5/S6 the upper while fundamental is S7/S9. Also can detect weaker second-orders circa 13553 & 13842 about S4/S5. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Someone reported these to one or two decimal places but for me they are too broad and amorphous to pinpoint. Perhaps SDR in Synch mode could display more precise frequencies, which I have never tried. In FM mode here the lower one covered at least 13550-13556 so one could only guess the middle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EGYPT. 9440, July 8 at 2151 and 2220 chex, instead of huge unreadable mess, no signal at all today from R. Cairo in English, checking at UTwente. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 27184.4 AM, July 8 at 0154 UT, there is country KOFM 103.1 relay again by local CB pirate, steady S9. And again July 9 at 0435 on 27184.46, S9+40, ID as ``My Country 103.1 KOFM`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. Bandscanning on caradio for sporadic E FM DX July 9: 92.3 at 1512 UT, KimKomando.com show where a caller thinx it`s afternoon, still at 1528. I quit car at 1538, but still audible KK sometime after 1600 recheck. May not be skip but I attempt to find a station on 92.3 via: https://www.komando.com/airtimes/ Yes, this is how the KK 420+ station search is set up. You have to enter a time and day of week, and specify timezone. So I enter 10 am Sat in CT, 9 am MT, 8 am PT and for good measure 11 am ET. Each search displays three stations, no more, no less, which is suspicious, without their locations, and not a 92.3 among them! Since this weak signal is pretty steady, I figure it`s only OK, such as 10.5 kW KMZE Woodward, or Kansas, KKGQ Newton, but that should be ESPN only. Radio Locator says KMZE has no website, and is ``Power Hits Z92`` which sure doesn`t sound like a talk format; while WTFDA FM database says it`s talk/sports. One may also search KK by zipcode or location so I enter Woodward, and what do I get? A map of SE PA and Maryland with 6 possible stations pinpointed! Why have we landed here? There is a tiny 100-population Woodward in central PA near Lewisburg. Make it the metropolis of Woodward OK, and finally BINGO, KMZE 92.3 Saturday at 9 am. So if she last more than an hour you won`t get a hit on the second hour. Come on, KK, internet guruess, you can do better than that. But KMZE does have a website linked from KimKom: http://www.z92online.com/ and most of their shows are far-right extremist nonsense (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, July 8 at 2203, no signal from VOT English to N America, into UTwente, but something weaker presumably China. Will be on later? No, still not at 2221. Then I check five other frequencies on the TRT HFCC schedule, supposed to be on air just before 2200, as at other times, the sloppyrators have been caught forgetting to change frequencies: No, nothing from TRT either on 9880, 9875, 9635, 9460 or 5960. Somethings always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed Friday July 8 from 1815.2 on IRRS SW via Bulgaria 7290, S8/S9+15 into UTwente; also via AM Italia, Villa Estense, 1323 kHz, S9+20 into nearby Noale SDR, and this time also on better 918 kHz, S9+30; but no signal on LW 207 kHz: are they ever running that any more? Played to completion before 1844 music fill. Also tuned these in earlier: 1323 & 918 at 1754 with `Counterspin` excellent program but merits being more than a fragment-filler, chopped off before finished at 1800 for ``IRRS SW signing-on`` and right into Feature Story News. As always the 7290 transmitter cannot/will not/never does cut on air until 1800.8 JIP FSN. 1805 IRRS ID with PO Box in Milano they otherwise deny access to; 1805.6 YL solo song and more music; 1813 DJ on WBAI, `Off the Hook` is ``coming up, now 7:02 pm``. A fragment of another excellent show opening until chopped off at 1815 IRRS quick ID and then WOR. Both those programs deserve specific regular spots on IRRS; so I search each of the 7 daily program schedules on each name, Hook and Counterspin via: https://www.nexus.org/member-services/radio-and-tv/schedules/ and do not get a single hit; including mostly webcasting-only filling the 24 hours. WOR 2146 also confirmed Friday July 8 at 2030.5 on AM Italia 918 & 1323, both slightly stronger now with 918 still superior, S9+32 vs S9+22. Some other talk show was chopped off at 2030 for IRRS ID. Also confirmed UT Saturday July 9 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+10/15 into Maryland SDR. Also confirmed UT Saturday July 9 at 0400 on WBCQ 5130, S6/S9 into Rochester SDR, -27 Hz = 5129.973. For a change, the PEI SDR was also getting 5130 well earlier during the 0230 R. Angela Greek music show. Next: 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0030 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0430] 1324vUT Sunday WMRI Europe via Ch 292 Germany 9670 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323 & 918? & 207?-Italy 2230 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW [to be canceled? still July 3] 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 2230 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed by Cuba] 2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW 1000 UT Wednesday Unique R, Australia 5035-USB or 3210-USB 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html For these noncommercial services, voluntary financial support is much appreciated; thanks this week to Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid, Luxembourg: ``Dear Mr. Hauser, Thank you for all the work you are doing for international DXing community. I wish to support you by sending you some Euros. I wish you can continue World of Radio as long as possible. I listen always Saturdays via Satellite Astra 13,2 E on World Radio Network. Greetings from Luxembourg, yours sincerely, Arnold Heiles, Heinerscheid`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com Or by postal money order or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7489.9v), UT Saturday July 9 tuned in AAAWWW on WBCQ webcast just seconds too late circa 0050 to catch the datestamp, so is it live and new? Proceeds to scan some items from Free Radio Weekly including my Enid pirate on 27185, without any useful detail, and an FM pirate elsewhere on 90.3 so we know it is last week`s FRW as even I have not yet received this week`s issue so we know Harold Frodge is not editing it. It`s probably last week`s AAAWWW repeated. When Dave edits, he does not publish it until many hours later, such as 1357 July 9 this week, and refusing my further 27184+ logs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. One of the distances in my July 4 Es FM DX report was wrong, inadvertently copying the entry just before it, Mt Wilson, instead of correct Las Vegas NV as in other logs: 1545 km = 960 miles for 93.1 KYMT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. DXMAP shows 100+ MHz Es MUF westward, July 9 circa 1500 UT; if there is any DX, Randy Zerr is showing it from his remote corner of Nevada. This conflicts with monitoring LRA36 via remote on computer, see ANTARCTICA. But at 1517 I start bandscanning FM on the caradio. Furthermore, morning tropo is up from my fringers in Tulsa, Kansas. I do have some brief unIDs which may be Es: 94.9 at 1519 rock; 94.5 at 1520 about video courses. 94.3 at 1511, financial talk, not // 95.1 so not the Bott in Kansas, but this is in mono like it is. By 1526, these frequencies are // so only KS and OK. Continued under [spoiler] OKLAHOMA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1858 UT July 9 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Friday, July 08 2022
** OKLAHOMA. K17JN-D, Enid`s only local TV signal, is OFF, July 8 at 1515 UT. Translator has been 3ABN and various related gospel-huxter subchannels, 2 or 3 of them audio only, not shown at rabbitears.info, including Radio 74 which is also on 89.3 from KIEL, Loyal OK. Lately 17 had been weak and somewhat not decoding, but not sure if them or my antenna at fault. Now we know. I am not eager to have them back, and shamefully, Enid deserves some local relays of secular OKC stations, notably OETA (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

WORLD OF RADIO 2146 monitoring: confirmed first broadcasts UT Friday July 8 at 0130 on WRMIs: 7730 via Maryland SDR and S9+10/20 direct; and 5850, S9+10/20 direct at 0145 but with storm crashes, somewhat undermodulated and suppressed. Clearer on 7730. As usual on System F, my last few words are overridden by Bishop Bob Biermann`s canned ID claiming to be on 9395! Also before 0159 I compared 5850 modulation to 5800 & 5950 which were definitely louder and clearer. Also confirmed UT Friday July 8 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, JBA but slightly better into Missouri than Maryland SDR, both vs HSNL = high storm noise level. Unfortunately there are no Kiwis in Central America where 7780 is now aimed! Also confirmed Friday July 8 at 1430 on WRMI 9955, S9/S3 direct with no jamming audible. Next: 1815 on IRRS as above (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Another log I overlooked in the sporadic E FM DX session UT July 3 from the Arizona/Sonora area: 92.1 at 0132, Mexican music, likely: KCMT 92.1 GREEN VALLEY AZ Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN LA CALIENTE 92.1 Y 95.7 50.0 kW 150.0 m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Huge sporadic E FM DX opening on July 4: on caradio parked in hottening garage, vertical fender antenna only, no RDS, no even-frequency side-tuning, no internet access until later research. No recordings. All logged in real time by my own ears on own receiver, no remotes. All times UT in chronological order. PTA = probable target area. Distances are approx., city-of-license to Enid distancefromto.net, not site to site. I am not counting stations, states or anything and not in competition. Some logs are presumed, and any correxions or help with IDing are very welcome. Other standard provisos with my previous reports apply. 93.1 at 1634. Google ``translates`` to same word in English, an anomaly already dealt with at Quora: ``Google translate says the word "Perrona" in Spanish means "Perrona" in English. Is that a correct translation or not?`` Luis Carlos Olmeda · Follow Knows Spanish4y replies: ``Perrona in Spanish is an adjective that’s mostly used in the northern part of México, to refer that something is cool in a more unpolite way, like “f-ing awesome” (but not exactly, as “f-ing awesome” would be considered rude, and when it comes to be polite, the word “perron/perrona” -perrona would be the femenine case- doesn’t break the rule). Now, to go more into specifics, the origin of that word has the prefix “perr-” which comes from the word “perro”, whose literal translation would be “dog”. Now, if you ask me why does it have that prefix, I wouldn’t know, and to be honest I don’t think that any Mexican could give you an explanation about it. Hope this answers your question, as it’s the first one that I get to answer in Quora, and my English is far from being perfect.
