** NORTH AMERICA. 6960-AM, April 18 at 0128, pirate music at S9-S7. Many logs here say it`s Ballsmacker Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,65766.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830.03, April 17 at 2216, VOT is on with music, but so is NAU RTTY, adding up to S9+10, diminished but not eliminated by ANF on the R-75. A brief English comment by the OM announcer circa 2227, more music, and RTTY finally stops by 2230 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U K. 9800, April 17 at 2058-2100*, BaBcoCk/Encompass IS, so must be Woofferton, a test? No, I see in Aoki/NDXC that this is ``WBCQ`` World`s Last Chance in Arabic at 1800-2100. Well, this relay has nothing to do with WBCQ; it started this month since the 500 kW from Maine proved to be insufficient, but I had not sought nor heard it until this random hit on the caradio memory bank. I believe others have said this is not // the simulArabic on 9330 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 18140-USB, April 17 at 1812, KM6TS concluding a contact with a KA2, and immediately into CQ, which draws another contact with W7CDP. Mentions that he had had an unusually short distance QSO with someone in Arizona. QRZ.com shows he is: ``KM6TS USA ELLIOT P QUICK, JR, PALMDALE, CA 93550 USA`` 6m DXMaps show some Es MUFs sufficient for this but not into VHF, let alone the 88+ MHz FM band. Then I find one other on 18 MHz band: 18150-USB, April 17 at 1814, from Vegas lamenting that it`s a ghost town, everything on the Strip and beyond, closed. Eventually 1821 ID as KE7JHA in contact with an AL7. ``KE7JHA USA David B Kutiej Las Vegas, NV 89108 USA`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2030 monitoring: due to a typo in the file name to WRMI servers only, completely my fault, the new 2030 edition did not play, but instead 2029 repeated Friday April 17 at 2200 on 9955, which had VP reception vs lite pulse jamming; and UT Saturday April 18 at 0130 on 5010 & 7780, both S9+10/20 but noisy, and 5850 VG S9+20/30. Now corrected, the remaining WRMI airings will be #2030, and this did not affect any other affiliates or podcasts. Next: 0900 UT Saturday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1130 UT Saturday WRMI 9955 to SSE 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 to NE 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315] 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 and/or 6160v to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1800vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T. Pollard, Raleigh NC, who sent a generous US$ cheque to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. (7490), UT Sat Apr 18 at 0000 I`m on the WBCQ webcast, hearing the FKB gospel huxter still talking under the automatic WBCQ ID, but quits before ``William Tell Overture`` starts. A&A are doing a new show live from Deland of Fla, trying to be upbeat, main topix being air conditioning, searchlights, and the superiority of electro-mechanical equipment over solid state = not subject to RF interference. While I record the rest of the webcast to check later, at 0047 I move to monitor the SWs: 7490.1 and 5130 are on, but not 6160v, despite AW having twitted earlier that it would be. The last quarter includes: 6160 has had some issues but will be working on it; are understaffed in Maine, not enough engineers but those working are doing the best they can, essential workers, also observing social distancing from each other and anyone else. Acknowledges that Hal Turner has been running on 6160 // 7490. Spends several minutes scanning logs from the new Free Radio Weekly just in, which includes more than usual from me, but AW never credits the reporters, just goes over some stations, frequencies as if they be permanent, and program content. Says that 4955-USB was playing Peruvian music, while I only pointed out it was also frequency of a legal Peruvian station, not heard. Out of time, no prayer even started before canned ID cuts him off and into Hal Turner. BTW, I`ve just heard from his son that John Carver, mid-north Indiana, who usually monitors AAAWWW for us, is fine, but his computer is still out of order (and I guess no library access either, which might also explain the silence of Artie Bigley as mentioned at start of WOR 2030). (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7637-USB, April 18 at 0124, encrypted military traffic except for one ID/codeword ``Moonshine``. In alfanumerix, he is careful to pronounce 5 as ``fife``; that`s to make it less confusable with another long-I number, 9 = ``niner``. I`ve previously logged this frequency in the morning as a ``Triblade`` CAP net. But why the mumbo-jumbo if it`s Civil? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0336 UT April 18

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.97-CUSB, April 17 at 1502, JJBBA carrier from LRA-36 with another special broadcast, as tipped via Manuel Méndez on the WOR iog by 0500, to start at 1400 with "FUNDACION INSTITUTO ANTARTICO ARGENTINO".
Then I try the three KiwiSDRs in Brasil: Campo and Rio are getting nothing but noise, but as soon as Pardinho opens to me at 1512, there it is, altho quite poor compared to other occasions; propagation must be degraded even that far/close. I keep on it, tho: Too weak to understand much, but I can tell W&M are talking about Antarctica. Is it really aimed 180 toward the South Pole as Ivo thinx? That doesn`t make sense. 1530 some music for the first time, 1533 back to talk; 1543 sudden fade-up and stays much more readable for the remainder: was there any change in transmission? 1545 brief burst of buzz QRM, fortunately only once. 1551 canned ID ``Nacional Antártida en todo el país`` as show is no doubt being carried on the entire Argentine network. 1554 resume discussion. 1600 contact info. 1602 song; 1608 abrazos to oyentes; acknowledging someone in Italy listening on web; ``en todo el país, la radio pública``. 1614 the moving ``Antárdida`` hymn. 1617 canned ID again as above and a bit of music to cutoff*. These specials typically run 2+ hours. Pardinho had one other listener to it, from Los Angeles (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** JAPAN [non]. 11830.114, April 17 at 1417, JBA carrier. Of course, it`s UAE site, known for its offfrequenciness, this half hour being NHK World Radio Japan relay in English. Might we have better luck on // 9450 via Tashkent? Hardly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 50135-USB, original report of XE2NBW, by Es, 2205 UT April 15, had one typo in callsign as XE2NBN but the other references were correct. Fixed: XE2NBW in Monterrey NL, making quick pro-forma contacts in accented English as if there were a contest, adding only his own grid, DL95, but the others generally inaudible here, one being in EN53. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAO TOME. 15460.068, April 16 until 1859*, JBA off-frequency carrier. It`s VOA Shona service. Hope all those Zimbs can tune to three decimal places (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TINIAN. 13795.049, April 16 at 1446, Chinesish talk at S5-S7. Off- frequency must be Saipan? No, this time it`s sibling station across the Saipan Channel, scheduled this hour only RFA in Cantonese, not worth jamming? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 293 kHz, April 16 at 0620 UT, regular ND beacon FBY in Fairbury NE has QRM from another underneath --- hard to pull out but slightly different pitch and period so that at times it`s mostly sending during FBY pauses: UI, which is 30 watts from QUIncy IL. FBY alone is audible again April 17 at 1344 UT, almost two hours after sunrise here at 1155, so is this skywave or groundwave? Fairbury is in SE Nebraska only a few miles from the Kansas border, 422 km = 262 statute miles from Enid. Quincy IL is 690 km = 429 stmi (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 395 kHz, April 17 at 1346, NDB CA, which is 25 watts from Newton - Harvs, Kansas. 404 kHz, April 17 at 1347, NDB HU, which is 25 watts from Hutchinson KS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, Friday April 17 at 1422, surprised to find WRMI still on, with World Music, sounds E European with accordion and voice till cut off at 1426*; test? Supposed to quit at 1400 on weekdays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5130, UT Fri April 17 at 0121, this WBCQ is back on, having been away for maintenance since April 11 --- and with another expansion of Hal Turner. But 6160.017v, its substitute, is also still on //, S9+10 but suptorted modulation. Previously it was on minus side of 6160. We shall see if this lead to 6160v remaining airable (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 830 kHz, April 17 at 0614 UT, ID as ``102.9 The Wolf`` --- what?? This has got to be the usual bigsig from WCCO Minneapolis. Long string of PSAs; 0617 finally ID as ``WCCO 830 and AC on 102.9`` --- what`s AC? Homepage https://wccoradio.radio.com/ shows nothing but 830, rather than promoting any FM. Searching leads to a few mentions of 102.9 simulcasts. WTFDA FM Database shows 102.9 in MN MN is not a mere translator, but 100/100 kW KMNB, country format, ``102.9 The Wolf``, but nothing about a connexion to WCCO 830; I suppose they are referring to being buried on a 102.9 ``HD`` subchannel. 0618 resumes `Our American Stories` --- show was supposed to be non-political but this one features voice of David Green, Oklahoma owner of Hobby Lobby, with his biblical propaganda. Good night, QRT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1729 UT April 17

** ALBANIA [non]. Re my report on Tirana via WRMI, WOR iog replies:
``As I reported earlier, the Radio Tirana program via WRMI on 7780 kHz on 12 April at 2230 UT was (nominally) 30 minutes of polyphonic music. I believe the announcer introduces the program with "Join us for some information about Albanian Easter Holy Sunday ... Albanian Easter polyphony is a traditional part ..." So, this was a special Easter program. But new this year? -- Richard Langley, NB`` ``Hi Glenn, I have monitored the podcasts of R Tirana as uploaded by www.radio360.eu --- These were all 30 minute transmissions (although Tuesday 7 April only really consisted of an 8 minute news broadcast followed by music). Programmes monitored were as follows: Sat 4 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Mosiac of the Week"; xx13 "Folk Music of Albania" Mon 6 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania in a Week"; xx12 Music (standards & pop) Tue 7 April: xx02 News; xx08 Music (standards & pop) Wed 8 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania & EU Integration"; xx10 Music "Hits Through the Years" Thu 9 April: xx02 News; xx10 "Albania Economy and Facts"; xx12 Music; xx17 "Around Albania" (Tourism); xx24 Music Fr 10 April: Repeat of entire 9 April transmission Sa 11 April: Undateable feature on Albania polyphonic music (which I think I've heard before - possibly it's an "emergency reserve" programme) Mo 13 April: xx02 News; xx08 "Albania in a Week"; Tu 14 April: (8 min programme only described as "news edition") By the way, the announcer on 4 April at (xx08) mentioned "you can hear the English broadcast of R Tirana can be heard on the shortwave of 6005 kHz from 2 to 3 o'clock pm". That is local time of UT +2 - it's actually 1230-1300 UT). Alan Roe Teddington, UK`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALGERIA [non]. 7295, April 15 at 0545, RTA in Arabic via FRANCE is still/again getting jammed(?) by tones/beeps (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, April 16 at 0238, again no RAE as scheduled and really heard 48 hours ago, but WRMI world music fill -- ``Milonga`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. Just in at 0142 April 16: ``Hi Glenn, As of today Radio Educación 6185 kHz "Cultura México" is going to broadcast from 2000 to 0800 UT. There has been an important improvement in its signal as they are already using the 10 kW transmitter. They may adjust the schedule depending on the results. Best wishes, Julián Santiago. Enviado desde mi iPad`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO [and non]. DXmap showing sporadic E into the FM band, so since we have some essential grocery shopping to do, I also tune around on the caradio, April 15. Strangely neither now nor later do I hear a bit on the few somewhat open frequencies in the non-commercial band, which would give the impression there be no DX happening. A cardinal rule of Es DX is that it works upward from lower frequencies. 93.3, not till I tune up to here do I hear something, and it`s not an open frequency but occupied by 100 kW KJKE OKC. But something in Spanish has captured, April 15 at 1911 UT, soon ID as ``Exa FM -- en tu casa, carro``, etc. Search on WTFDA FM Database, essential reference at: https://db.wtfda.org/ finds only one Exa FM on 93.3, viz.: ``XHPS-FM 93.3 VERACRUZ VER MEX 30.94 kw ERP 208.0m 19-09-14 96-06-30 Spanish ---- EXA FM EN TODAD [sic] PARTES...PONTE EXA! SPANISH POP EXA FM`` Spanish on 93.3 makes another resurgence at 1918 discussing something on Netflix? mixing with the Jake FM C&W. Veracruz is at prime Es distance, seen/heard many times before: 1919 km = 1193 statute miles. Then I keep bandscanning, alert for any other hints of Spanish, notwithstanding some Okies and Kansies. 94.1, April 15 at 1912 UT, some weak Spanish mixed in the CCI. Certainly not definite, but there is only one 94.1 in the Veracruz state PTA: ``XHHV-FM AM 1310 94.1 BOCA DEL RÍO VER MEX 25.0 kW ERP 65.99m 19-07-58 96-07-50 Spanish ---- LA FIERA 94.1 FM SW 09 REGIONAL MEXICAN LA FIERA`` Less likely but also a possible SS fullpower groundwave remnant from: ``KLNO 94.1 FORT WORTH TX 98.0 kW ERP 485.0m 32-35-22 96-58-10 Spanish HD 2E6C QUE BUENA QUE BUENA Language REGIONAL MEXICAN 94.1 LA QUE BUENA`` 94.1 also has growing CCI at 1916 UT from our nearest fringe gospel huxter with several other frequencies, ID as ``The House FM, Stillwater 105-9``. Flagship is really 89.7 in Ponca City = local in Enid: ``KTHM 94.1 WAYNOKA OK 9.8 kW 122.0m 36-34-55 98-52-12 VARIETY THE HOUSE FM`` 92.1, at 1932, some Spanish in and out quickly about películas. Again there is only one in Veracruz: ``XHPG-FM 92.1 CÓRDOBA VER MEX 49.95 kW 213.0m 18-52-34 97-00-15 Spanish GRUPERA LA MEJOR`` [KAMG-LP Enid still silent] (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) See also USA [and non] for a Mexican ham on 6m during this opening ** U S A [and non]. It may not feel like spring with lows near freezing here, but it`s time to keep an eye on the sporadic-E map: https://www.dxmaps.com/spots/mapg.php April 15 around 1800 UT, it shows MUF blobs *all* over the USA, mostly below 30 MHz, but a few higher approaching the FM band. There are a few short-skip contacts on the 18 MHz ham band, but no phone activity at all on the 21 MHz band; a bit of CW/digital at the low end. Nothing much on 24 MHz, but at 1814 UT, WWV is inbooming on 25000, less than 500 miles away and normally inaudible; much better than on 20000. And 11m CB is hopping, with pileups of hets on several channels: 26965, 27025, 27085, 27135, 27205, 27285 and various freebanders beyond. 27185 is still blocked by constant noise from Enid jammer: that should be getting out and no one anywhere else could locate it. 28 MHz hamband is also open, such as at 1821: 28380-USB, in the 10-10 club/net, N5MK, Mike in Louisiana, I thought he said but N5MK is really an SK in Texas, per QRZ.com. In the next hour I`m DXing FM on the caradio; see separate logs. Ten is still open at 2200, with 28500-USB, N4RLD near Atlanta contacting weaker AG7JS in northern Utah: N4RLD USA Rickie L Dingler Moreland, GA 30259 AG7JS USA Warren C Bassett Wellsville, UT 84339 The R75 tunes up to 60000 kHz, but I seldom even try six meters as I have no VHF antenna for it; but I tune anyway and find the same LW as used for HF and MF has no trouble hearing at 2208 April 15: XE2NBN in Monterrey NL, making quick pro-forma contacts in accented English as if there were a contest, adding only his own grid, DL95, but the others generally inaudible here, one being in EN53. XE2NBW Mexico YEPIZ RUIZ LUIS CARLOS, MONTERREY, NL 64000 Check out his Yaqui motto/oath: https://www.qrz.com/db/XE2NBW Simultaneously on exactly the same frequency, 50135-USB I hear a US understation making his own QSOs but he and XE2NBW are obviously not hearing each other. AC4TO in EM70: AC4TO USA KEN L REECY, TALLAHASSEE, FL 32317 50120-USB, April 15 at 2218, N4CLJ contacting a KK5##; says he will also be on 2m, 144.210: N4CLJ USA Carl L Jones, Lecanto, FL 34461 In the following hour, more FM band DX also from FL as in separate log (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. The Sporadic E DX opening is still going April 15 at 2330 UT when DXMaps shows an MUF of 107 MHz due east of Enid, so after a rest it`s back to the caradio, now parked in garage, to hear what I can hear; Once again there is NO DX to be found on marginally open non-commercial frequencies like 89.5, 90.7; but there is CCI on a number of 92+ channels, including 93.3 & 93.7 vs semi-local Okies. 92.9, April 15 at 2338, ``Hang in there, southwest Florida, we`re Kix-country 92.9``, viz.: ``WIKX 92.9 CHARLOTTE HARBOR FL 100.0 kW 246.0m 26-53-47 82-14-27 COUNTRY KIX COUNTRY 92.9``. They have trouble spelling Ikx. C.H. is at the mouth of Charlotte Harbor near Punta Gorda, 1823 km = 1133 stmi from Enid. 96.5, April 15 at 2340 UT, talk show with fading but atop two fringe Okies, hosted by ``Kevin and I``, saluting the ``Orlando Evening News Scumbag of the Week``, someone complained by waiter Joe who left zero tip for a $ 120 restaurant bill. This is: ``WDBO-FM 96.5 ORLANDO FL 99.0 kW 454.0m 28-34-07 81-03-16 HD 5CBC 96.5 NEWS/WEATHER 96.5 NEWS/WEATHER News TALK NEWS 96.5 //WDBO 580`` 100.3, April 15 at 2342 UT, YL in Spanish talking about Florida Polytechnic in Lakeland; soon fade out. It`s the only SS, nearby: ``WRUM 100.3 ORLANDO FL 95.0 kW 484.0 28-34-51 81-04-32 Spanish HD 13A0 - 'KBJS' LA RUMBA Song/Artist LA RUMBA Song/Artist Top 40 TROPICAL RUMBA 100.3 MAS MUSICA VARIADA`` (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) see also MEXICO [and non] for 6m and 10m Es ham logs ** U S A. ** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, April 14 at 2030, I make a point of monitoring WRMI, good enough via an eastern US SDR, but not making it to the substitute receiver at UTwente. Because it`s time for Radio Tirana relay, reported recently to be partly or wholly music fill, leading us to suspect the automated recording of the English service is grabbing it at the wrong UT since DST started in Europe more than a biweek ago. But now we get it:
2030, Radio Tirana IS, theme and canned sign-on in English, Klara always claiming they can only be heard on internet, and pronouncing the URL incomprehensibly in English. And into news by other announcer, seemingly current with latest COVID-19 statistics and little else until 2038 cut abruptly to music fill, obviously not Albanian, but from WRMI`s World Music reel starting with a hymn at a tropical beat. 2041 pause for WRMI ID in Spanish! by Alfonso Montealegre, my old colleague from Radio Enlace on Radio Nederland. On the Hitlist, http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm --- I go looking for what`s up at Radio Tirana. http://rti.rtsh.al/radio/ ``Emisioni ne gjuhёn --- Orari Ditёt Transmetimi Angleze 18:00-18:30 22:00-22:30 00:00-00:30 03:30-04:00 08:00-08.30 10:30-11:00 13:30-14:00`` Those are no doubt in local time of UT +2, the original at 16 UT and 6 repeats on the ``live`` webcast. ``Kontakt:`` gives us spelling of the announcers, with c-cedillas: English: english@rtsh.al — Klara Ruçi, Ervin Çali Then I check the podcasts via http://www.radio360.eu/index.php/english-podcasts/74-albania and find at the top today`s April 14 edition which is identical to the 8 minutes I just heard on WRMI, axually lasting 7:57! --- http://www.radio360.eu/mplayer/podcastplayer-e.php?datei=http://www.radio700.info/podcasts/en/al/tirana/./20200414_1800.mp3&feed=albania So as presently set up, R. Tirana relays contain 8 minutes of news only, and that may well be all that RT is putting out now under current circumstances, despite full half-hours being reserved. 7780, April 14 at 2230, two hours later on WRMI, I can barely hear direct the RT IS at its new repeat time. 2238 cut to different music fill, Andean, a quena & guitar tune but not the usual one. Beware: not all of these RT relays may appear every day of the week if there be something of higher priority (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, April 15 at 0250 checking for RAE relay via WRMI as logged in detail last night --- but NOT this time! African percussion world-music like from the WRMI filler loop instead, not RAE; yet at 0256 Eslovaquia outro in Spanish as if they had been playing such music; 0301 recheck still on with ``Andean`` music, 0309 WRMI Spanish jingle and Jeff White ID in English, more music; off at 0330* after a few sex of deadair. So what became of RAE??. See also SLOVAKIA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** BRAZIL. 6180, April 15 at 0135, RNA is OFF here, but still inbooming on 11780; anyway no ACI to 6185 MEXICO, q.v. However, here`s an audiovideo about RNA: ``After a tender which EBC requested a 100 kW HF DRM transmitter, they aired this video on TV Brasil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAKy9Z6QO3w Cheers, Rafael`` via DRMNA iogroup via Ian, swsites. Specifically about the facilities from 17:46; testimonials from grateful listeners in the outback (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non?]. 711.00 kHz, April 15 at 0138, the off-frequency carriers still here hetting 710 stations; yes, not one, but two of them beating at rate of 204/minute = 3.4 Hz, one of them one of the Radios Rebeldes offshifted for more annoying jamming, and perhaps the other; altho I am getting also some mostly weak TA carriers; see UNID (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, April 14 at 1808, dead air from RHC, while the only other midday frequency, 15140 is distorted and hummy worsening the already choking Arabic. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6185-, April 15 at 0135, XEPPM better than usual on slightly minus frequency, music undermodulated but almost sufficient; and no ACI from off RNA 6180 Brasil (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SLOVAKIA [non]. 9395, April 15 at 0252, WRMI with interview in English about GF & Easter, so another gospel huxter client? No, faked out as soon mentions Bratislava. RSI not known to be scheduled now. Also ending at 0256 on 5800 has been RSI in Spanish or at least so announced following fill? music; instead of ARGENTINA, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN [non]. 5800, April 15 at 0128, WRMI closing RTI Spanish relay with schedule, as if only one frequency each, next one at 0200 on 5010 only, rather than that *PLUS THREE MORE* as I monitored last night but not checked tonight; don`t they read my reports? Or look at WRMI skedgrid? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 14 at 2201, VOT English underway successfully today except for the RTTY QRM from NAU Puerto Rico; but the R75 ANF feature helps a lot to minimize it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 17530, April 14 at 1756, VOA in English ending an interview, 1800 News voiced by ``remote`` Joe Palka (sp?), 1805 `African News Tonite`. S9/+10 but not the big solid signal Grimesland used to provide daytime on 15580 or 11720. This sesquihour at 1700-1830 is now the *only* English broadcast from GB; like the previous ones, 250 kW at 94 degrees eastward to Africa, but unlike them, too close to the MUF / too close for hefty skip off the back on this band. Maybe those a bit further west can get it better? Certainly not further east (except with sporadic E/short-skip in play), until the mid-Atlantic where the first F-layer hop plunge down (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WRMI: See ALBANIA [non]; ARGENTINA [non]; SLOVAKIA [non]; TAIWAN [non] ** U S A. 6159.911V, 0132 UT Wed Apr 15, WBCQ, S9+20/10, still on here instead of 5130, rippling carrier marring modulation, which is *not* the `W5KUB Amateur Radio Roundtable` as scheduled 0100-0230 on 5130, but --- after NHTSA PSA, `Hal Turner`! // 7490.1v and WRMI 9455. But Turner is supposed to be on 5130 only on UT Thursdays at 0100-0300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic just-barely-audible MW carrier search, despite K-index of 3, April 15 at 0143-0150: 531, 558(2), 621(2 @ 3.2 Hz), 639, 684, 774(2), 828, 855(2), 882, 891, 909, 936(2), 1026(2), 1044, 1053, 1089, 1098, 1215, 1422, 1431, 1575. ** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800 only, April 14 at 0230-0330* monitoring RAE Argentina al Mundo as now on WRMI skedgrid and also on the air. It`s not Spanish-only, but all 8 languages. Opening by Fernando in Spanish as ``Made en Casa`` #3, sked since 6 Apr at 0230-0300 [sic] Tue-Sat. So it`s a week old already? Last week it was #2, apparently produced once a week and repeated over & over. 0235 into Portuguese YL; brief music bridges, Andean music this time; 0243 French giving time for that as 2330 L-V on 7780; 0249 Italian YL & OM; 0256 German YL thru hourtop; 0302 English by Fernando again, giving new A-20 sked for that as 1-1:30 am Tue-Sat on 9395, starting April 6 referred to as ``last Monday``, so now it seems this segment was recorded today? 0308 to YL in Chinese; 0314 Japanese; and that`s 8 with time to spare, so? 0321 Portuguese again; 0324 outro in Spanish, 0326 music to 0330*. Each may include a bit of news about what`s going on especially quarantine-related in Argentina, and refer to website for more real news in each language. Note: just last night, UT Monday after 0300, something totally different on 5800: Prague in English // 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. 12190, April 14 at 1441, weak Chinese vs CODAR, certainly CNR1 jammer against one of countless Sound of Hope, Taiwan low-power frequencies. Quick check of WOOB areas 10.9-15 MHz finds no others (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6145 // 6100 // 6060, April 14 at 0552, quite unusually, RHC English now at equally good signal and modulation levels on all three! But rounding out The Cuban Five, 6000 is undermodulated and 5040 mushy. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, April 14 at 0553, Radio Rebelde is off again; something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Next check 1449 a JBA carrier: remnants normally audible ~sesquihour before sunset to sesquihour after sunrise over this 2+ megameter path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN [non]. 5010 // 5800 // 7780 // 9395, April 14 at 0217, RTI Spanish via WRMI on *four* frequencies as we have observed before; now the April 11 update of WRMI skedgrid finally agrees with this observation; always a time lag to match up. The 0100 is shown and heard on 5800 only and the 2200 on 7780 only. I`ve not yet confirmed whether there really be a new show every night; maybe still mentioning date in openings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 14332-USB, April 14 at 1508, W8BF in TN prompting for check-ins from anywhere to the YL Systems net. What`s this? Nothing but OM voices heard, 1509 on to KM4TTT in FL asking for calls. Also ran across this net recently on 40m. All explained here: https://ylsystem.org/ ``Since 1963y, YL International Single Sideband System`` --- Once OMs were allowed in, nothing about the gender differential percentage (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1714 UT April 14
