Glenn Hauser logs May 12-13, 2022 |

Friday, May 13 2022
** CAYMAN ISLANDS. Re ZF2RX: ``Hi, I saw your comment about my QRZ page, and the fact that it was empty. I will fill it in soon. I only got the call for the ARRL DX SSB contest, and haven’t had time to do a page. I am operating from the station of ZF9CW, located on Cayman Brac. If you have any other questions, please let me know. I am more than happy to answer anything you’d like to know. Bray KC1KUG/ZF2RX, Sent from my iPhone`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NEW ZEALAND. 11725, Thu May 12 at 0624, no signal from RNZP where it normally inbooms, checked after first finding a big S7/9+10 open carrier on 13840, which is an earlier NZ channel. Maybe disrupted for maintenance day. By 0705 recheck, 11725 is on and 13840 is off. I was about to doze and checking my scribbles later, I wrote 13740 at 0624 but took it as NZ. If it were really 13740, might have been another Cuban anomaly (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. RF 21, May 12 at 1453 UT, tropo check of DTV finds lots of BAD signals into STB, but here is decoding 40-3 MeTV-RR in the PSIP. Not sure of last two letters in font, could be AA or some combo of squared-off letters. Lacking W9WI.com listings any more, I have to go to rabbitears.info network roster for MeTV, and scroll down hovering over each market until finally hit a match at #94 Fort Smith AR KHBS. Yes, that fits nicely with the tropo area, and is not too far away. Guess what: it`s in Oklahoma, as the FCC coverage map shows the circle centred considerably SW of FS near Poteau, OK, altho the exact location is not pinpointed; however its longitude is 94:40+ west, while the city of FS, right on the border, is only 94:24. I would not be surprised if there be several more Ft Smith `AR`, AM, FM, TV stations really in OK. We already know that 1650 AM is in OK. Anyone DXing anystation licensed to a stateline city better research true location. Only other decodee is RF 20 from Tulsa, as commonly. RF 9 does not develop but not often anything even BAD to be seen. FCC TV Query show not a single 9 of any type or power in OK - ex-KWTV-land, and none in KS either, altho several in TX including full powers. But in today`s PTA along with KHBS surely it is KAFT, ``13`` virtual, Fayetteville AR, of Ark Educ TV (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2137 monitoring: confirmed UT Thursday May 12 at 0030 on WRMIs: into Maryland SDR: 9395 S9/+10; 9455 S7/S9; considerably off boresight for both. At 0153 direct: 5850 S9+20/30 not noisy; 7730 S9+10 noisy and seems undermodulated. Before 0159, 5850 at least overrides my last few words, even tho, ``with a standard disclaimer; I say again, standard disclaimer`` was not enough for the first one to stand: maybe I need to say it thrice (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9455, May 12 at 0631, this WRMI is S9+20/30 and distorted, also throwing spurspikes widely to the lower side, audible to 9355 vs 9330 WBCQ, and *still* audible as low as 9185, matching the spikes to mod on 9455 with a second radio. Something`s odd at Okeechobee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15770, May 12 at 1930, WRMI with NO VOA news; after a pause, fill music starts, and no `Flashpoint Ukraine` either at 1935. Alan Roe reported the same problem yesterday, so I ask Jeff White. He says there was a problem on VOA’s side with audio streams and they are trying to fix it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2138) This report dispatched at 0449 UT May 13 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Thursday, May 12 2022
** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, May 11 at 1528, NO signals from LRA36 into 8 KiwiSDRs, 4 in Argentina, 4 in Brasil. Manuel Méndez got a whatsapp notification yesterday that RNASG was going to broadcast this Wednesday at 1500 repeating the Saturday show. They started to, says Kari Kallio, Finland, but dumped off the air already at 1508*. That explains it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** GERMANY [non]. 11850, May 11 at 0634, YL talk in unknown language, S4/S7 direct. Aoki shows it`s DW in Hausa via FRANCE. I really have no ``feel`` for recognizing Hausa, one of the major languages of Nigeria, no keywords like ``imnida``, a giveaway for Korean. I investigate via Google Translate: how would they say ``Hier ist die Deutsche Welle``? --- ``Ga Deutsche Welle``. How about ``This is the Voice of America``? --- ``Wannan ita ce Muryar Amurka``. The ADDX language schedules show Hausa still on SW via all these: AWR, VOA, TRT, BBC, IRIB, RFI, VON, DW, CRI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 104.9, May 11 at 1702 UT, ``KQSN Ponca City, oklahomabull.com, 104-7 The Bull`` also offering bull rides, and what else? Country music. That URL converts to https://www.myhometownpost.com/1047thebull as part of a group also including WBBZ 1230, 95.9 Bob FM, KSOK 103.3 & 1280, the latters axually in Arkansas City, Kansas. I`m bandscanning on the caradio as Hepburn tropo map for ``Ern No America`` predicts as of 1800, a Level 5 = strong tropoblob almost to Enid covering eastern OK, and large parts of the ArkLaTex --- but nothing special now, not even Tulsa enhancement. Similar on the F5LEN tropo map for the ``west coast``, but less extensive. 104.9 I also inspect, which bore The Metroplex S Asian station before: now fading out and in is ``Wild 104-9`` which per WTFDA db is merely KKWD Bethany OK, 6/6 kW, 100 m HAAT. Whatever became of newish 104.9, KEUC Ringwood, much closer but only 0.1/0.1 kW, 21 m HAAT with EWTN; is it on the air? I haven`t heard it even on the west side of Enid (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2137 monitoring ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Dear Glenn: World of Radio, monitoring and confirming the latest for #2137, Go, Oilers Go, WRMI: 5850, 0132, 0140, 0158 (55343), 0159, May 6 UTC 2022 [Fri] 9395, static QRN, other noises, 0130, 0135, 0158 (45333), 0159, May 7 [Sat] 9395, 0031, 0045, 0059 (45343), 9455, 0042, 0058 (45443), 9395, 0058, static QRN, jamming, 0058, May 10 [Tue] 5850, 1043 confirmed 2135 ?? later static, heard 2137, 1059, May 11 [Wed] (Lemke, Richard - AB)`` Also confirmed Wednesday May 11 from 2100:59, S7/9+5 into Maryland SDR on WBCQ 7490 minus 70v Hz, = 7489.93. Next: 0030 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 9455 to WNW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 9395 to NNW Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Thanks this week for financial support from Robert W Gruska, Glendale NY, who sent a PMO to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, and says: ``World of Radio has been one of the few programs available on radio that I look forward to listening to week after week since first listening to the broadcasts on WRNO back in the 1980s using a portable multi-band radio that included shortwave. Thanks for your efforts!`` One may also contribute by check in US$ on a US bank to the PO Box. BTW, rental cost for the PO Box itself keeps escalating. Or via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com New WOR 2138 should be ready early UT Friday May 13 for download and first broadcasts at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2323 UT May 11 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
