DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS updated for North American DST season http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html
WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST by Alan Roe updated for Cuban & USA DST season: http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm WORLD OF RADIO SCHEDULE updated for North American DST season http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html ** BRAZIL. 9630v & 11856v, Sat March 7 at 2220, no signals at all from R. Aparecida just when we wanted to hear their DX program. Propagation OK with 11780 S9+10 RNA in SBG; some weak distorted talk on 11815, probably RBC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA. 9155, March 8 at 0041, JBA maybe Chinese on one of the CNR1 jammer frequencies against Sound of Hope; no others around in the lower 9`s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA [non]. 5910, March 7 around 2330 I check the two KiwiSDRs in Colombia for any signal here or on 6010, but none; 47 hours ago, Bob Wilkner in FL had a tentative something in Spanish where Alcaraván radio used to abide, and there have been implications visiting gospel huxters might refurbish it. At 0005 UT March 8 on one of my radios I do get a JBA carrier offset-minus from 5910, but no trace at 0014 on the other, so probably a local birdie. 6010, March 8 at at 0018, JBA carrier, probably Brasil (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 11760, March 7 at 2219, RHC is S9 but very distorted --- just in an axuality clip, OK once the announcer resume. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 17480, March 7 at 2222, JBA carrier, the OSOB if you count this as part of the 16 mb --- only thing listed in Aoki is Cuban Spy Numbers at 2155-2350 on days 357 = including Saturday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13635 & 13766 approx., Sunday March 8 at 1427, RHC spurblobs out of 13700-AM transmitter, ending music show presumably `Sonido Cubano` now one UT hour earlier, and plugging 22 de marzo as ``Dia mundial del agua -- fuente de vida``; 1430 Música del Cine. 13740 is off but 15230 and distorted 15140 are still on. At 1508, 13700 is still on with dead air, making the spurs less obvious; and weekly Esperanto confirmed on 11760 and distorted 15140 --- now one UT hour earlier for DST season in step with Yankee Imperialists. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Despite being an international SW station, RHC allows local DST to bump most but not all of its transmissions and programming around. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Based on what happened in the A-19 season, we expect first English to be at 19-20 instead of 20-21, still on 15140? Next at 23-24 instead of 22-23 on 11880 --- yes, one real hour *later* rather than earlier in this case. While the 5040 English at 00-01 should earlyize to 23-24, i.e. same time as the 11880 --- but will that frequency maintain now and/or into real A-20? Sometimes it`s been on 9720. Evening to NAm, will English start at 00 reliably instead of 01? Will end at 07 rather than 08 on constantly shifting batch of frequencies? TBD. 15140, March 8 at 1713, RHC still on here at S9+10 but suptorted while // 11760 modulation is OK during music. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 15140, March 8 at 1830, RHC starting Kriyol, moved an hour earlier from the winter timing of 1930, so expect English too at 1900. But this frequency is very suptorted. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Yes, English now confirmed March 8 from 1900 on 15140, but who would want to put up with its crummy modulation? Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11880 has reliably provided the best signal and modulation back here even tho it`s supposedly for Africa, now at 23 instead of 22? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13605, March 8 at 1827, lite pulse jamming altho Radio Martí will not move here from 13820 until A-20 March 29. Something`s always wrong at the DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ETHIOPIA [non]. Here`s my eQSL for Oromia Media Network via IRRS: http://www.w4uvh.net/20200306-11990-kHz--Hauser-Glen-IRRS-QSL-2020-CoronovirusPandemic.pdf BTW, while WRTH 2020 has only one cland to Ethiopia, not this one, the 2019 edition had four more. Have they all really disappeared, and why? Situation improving? And why has OMN just started up along with IRRS` expanded Corona virus broadcasts --- related? So far Ethiopia has had very little infexion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUINEA. 9650, March 8 at 0044, no overtime signal from RTG tonight. Ron Howard replies to last night`s report: ``Hi Glenn, There have been several cases recently of Radio Guinea being on the air well beyond their normal schedule. Believe this has to do with ongoing local events happening there. Here is the "Security Alert – U. S. Embassy Conakry, Guinea": https://gn.usembassy.gov/security-alert-u-s-embassy-conakry-guinea-6/ Ron, California`` That`s about avoiding areas of violent protests, but no info what they are about (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** IRELAND. Re my unID carrier on 5780, March 5 at 0715, here`s a possibility from the logs of Carlos Gonçalves, SW coast of Portugal: 5780.0 2145-... 03/3 IRL Harmony R - pir. Oldies. 35343 CGS 5780.0 1439-... 04/3 IRL Harmony R - pir. Mx. 15341 CGS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY [non]. Re my obs of transmission overlap on 7290 IRRS just before 1900 UT March 2, Richard Langley, NB, replies: ``Listening / watching carefully today (7 March) at 19:00 UTC using the U. Twente SDR receiver, I heard/saw no suggestion of a transmitter change from before to after 19:00 UTC. Frequency stayed in the vicinity of 7289.998 kHz. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NETHERLANDS [non]. 5960, UT Sun Mar 8 at 0135, The Mighty Farty KBC is VG as usual; Alan Roe reports already, ``NETHERLANDS/GERMANY. KBC posted this on their Facebook page on 5 March: "On March 29 The Mighty KBC is moving back to 9925 kHz for the summer period. Sunday 00:00 - 02:00 UTC." This is via Nauen. Alan Roe, Teddington, UK`` But normally 9925 is in use only May-August, following the Croatian Radio Zagreb model. We`ll see whether MUF support 9925 a month+ earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6923-LSB, March 8 at 0025, pirate with rock song, 0027 segué, 0030 ``Taste of Honey``, 0035 DJ says ``from the capital of Argyle`` and something about Ireland, ``across the Great Plains of the North Atlantic``; also pronounces ``oot`` Canadianish. 0043 ``Come Together``, and gone by 0045. These logs say it`s Zekey`s Attic, first heard at 1943 March 7 and another transmission in the evening: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,63871.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 6130 //> 7325, March 8 at 0058 RRI IS prior to English and no signals on Romanian 5910 & 7410, as transmitters remain OOO. 5910, March 8 at 0129 recheck, however, now RRI is on with Romanian rock and rap all with heavy beat, S9+20, but 7410 is still off. (I should have checked 7340 next to 7345 OCB DRM.) Occasional quick two or three words by YL DJ at 0138, 0149; 0157 ID barely discernible under music. Alan Roe`s Music on Shortwave shows: 0100 - 0200 Su As We Like! (hour 2) (Club/party) 5910 7340 Wish I had kept listening after 0200 for: 0200 - 0256 Su Radio Concert Season (Classical) 5910 7340 6130, UT Sun Mar 8 at 0140-0145 meanwhile, RRI had its `DX Mailbag` reading and replying to reports from Zeeland, Michigan; Finland; Japan as poorly heard in DRM via SDR in Switzerland; and Dave Harries in Bristol, England (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 420 kHz, March 8 at 0645 UT, ND beacon PK, Olathe KS, difficult to separate from another one IDing at same pitch, same time, presumably the usual FQ, Fairmont MN, both 25 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2024 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday March 8 at 0413 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, about 11 minutes in so started early around 0402, VG S9+30 --- this rivals another St Louis station with much more power, KMOX 1120! Note: from next week due to DST, nominal start will be 0315 UT. Next: 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5950, March 8 at 0016, WRMI with a rare spot commercial for Dish TV vs cable, then ``back to the music`` Oldies where such ads can be accommodated. The transmission sked shows 5950 during this hour is System G, but the System G grid shows that on 9395 only, among a number of contradixions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5010, UT Sun Mar 8 at 0059, Rudy Espinal, Dominican Republic, WRMI Spanish ID, while 5850 runs a Bob Biermann English ID. At 0100 they join when `Encore` classical music is supposed to play but instead Bob introduces music, not Oldies, rather tunes from the very familiar World Music reel, the first song sounding like gibberish but maybe a real language, which? Still no Encore at 0112, 0132 chex. Such a default is what happens when there is something wrong with the proper scheduled file. I notified Brice Avery about this and he says the problem should be fixed for the next airing, UT Monday March 9 at 0300 on 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, March 8 at 1825, WLCR on WBCQ amid German hour as previously scheduled, poor signal here. Ivo Ivanov and Alan Holder, however, have heard some mixups or changes in times, languages, azimuths now that Monticello is on EDT - which should be irrelevant to overseas broadcasts (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, March 7 at 2209, WTWW-2 is already on at S9+40 with music this Saturday, unlike yesterday - early UT Sat when it was not on at all. But no 5830 WTWW-1. 5085, UT Sun Mar 8 at 0113 and 0134, still rock, no sign of nameless theatre organ show nor ham news (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 990, UT Sun Mar 8 at 0106, plug for bass event in Birmingham, but no station there, then listing of fishing/hunting events in FL, MO, WY so a network program, also plugging NRA. This page https://kwamthevoice.com/page-schedule presents a ``weekly schedule`` without specifying *which* days! Apparently means M-F only ignoring very different lineup on weekends. Fortunately the host mentions his own website, bbkoradio.com which converts to: https://bigbillykinderoutdoors.com/ including KWAM-AM Saturdays 6-8 pm CT, from a well-designed affiliate map at https://bigbillykinderoutdoors.com/The-Show/Radio-Stations 0115 UT ID ``KWAM, The Voice, now on 107.9 and AM 990`` and kwamtheoice.com --- Evidently the slogan is now just ``The Voice`` rather than ``Voice of Memphis``. This is dominant on my E-W longwire, no CBW, which I do hear on the DX-398 aimed N/S; and on it E/W there is also Spanish CCI. 107.9 is --- you guessed it --- a paltry 250-watt translator, W300DE. Speaking of powers, when I heard 990 it was surely on 10 kW day power, not 450 watt night power, which is supposed to start in March at 0000 UT! Day pattern is tight east-west, night also tight slightly clockwise, both favoring us (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5915, March 8 at 0005, very weak talk, African? At 0015 carrier is either wobbling or beating with another --- both Zambia and Myanmar? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6966v, March 8 at 0020 as I am checking the pirate band, a hamspur here, chirpy signal constantly drifting downward, seems like negative keying so I only copy a DE W0 - something before losing it. I would have tried to match it to a fundamental above 7.0 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 9411.0-USB, March 8 at 0042, 2-way in Spanish, INTRUDERS. While 9410 is unoccupied by BBC Singapore until 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1917 UT March 8

** CHINA. 9200, March 7 at 1413, Chinese fair signal, i.e. CNR1 jammer against Sound of Hope; no others audible among several other low-9-MHz possible frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15700, March 7 at 1403, S9+40 of dead air on CRI Plus relay; did not get around to rechecking before 1600 whether modulation ever came up. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. BTW in A-20 this transmission redescends to 11880 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15230, March 7 at 1405, RHC reactivated from absence yesterday, // distorted 15140. 1552 recheck, 15230 is dead air, 15140 is off, 11760 is on, and 11700 is also off, the latter running yesterday morning by error. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, March 7 at 1651, this RHC is off, despite supposed to run continuously 1200-2130 per Aoki; EiBi shows a 15-16 break, and also a strange 5-minute French broadcast Sunday at 2110. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13635, 13570, 13766, 13832 approx., March 7 at 1607, RHC succeeds in spurblobbing from 13700 transmitter, at 65-66 kHz intervals plus and minus, the first order pair stronger; readable in FM and AM, with F# tone, not in SSB. I had really been missing these: none logged since February 16, quite a spell, almost two sesquiweeks! Something`s always wrong at RHC. Are these more likely on weekends? Last batch were Fri-Sat-Sun, Feb 14-15-16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** GUINEA. 9650, March 7 at 0347, hilife music with no break at hourtop, past 0412 at S9-S5, no announcements, still at 0450 tho weaker. Surely it`s RTG which is nominally on air 06-24 only, and nothing else normally here before North Korea at 0700. So why are they running all-night? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 6185.7, March 7 at 0342, XEPPM about here, not remeasured precisely, and seems to be wobbling, or caused by local QRM. 6185.755, measured March 7 at 0452, dead air; still propagating at 1512 when I measure it on 6185.792, maybe JBM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 7480, March 7 at 0352, Station YHWH is VP, JBA, S7-S9 undermodulated vs S5 noise level on vacant 7475. 7470 has a JBA carrier, thus QRM from Deewa Radio, Germany, he avoids. I did make out one mention of ``Yahweh``. Ron Howard was also hearing this with difficulty at 0324-0405+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2024 monitoring: I awaken at 1334 Saturday March 7 to hear JBA beepery on 15770 WRMI, i.e. SW Radiogram, so likely also on air before 1330 with WOR, unlike last week. Also confirmed Sat Mar 7 at 1700 on all three WRN webcasts. Will the NAm service have shifted to 1600 by next week, or wait till the others do in April? Next: 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415] 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Re VORW time changes on WRMI: Altho I did not get the complete context of his announcement, I now suspect he was saying that VORW times would be one hour later on 5850 et al., once DST has started, i.e. by local clox, since they stay at same UT --- e.g., 0100 UT will become 9 pm EDT instead of 8 pm EST. We do not need all this confusion caused by twice-yearly shifting! In the SW context, the standard must be UT, which is *real, unchanging* time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5830, March 7 at 0347, WTWW-1 is on again with VG signal, SFAW sounds like live call-in, but mentions current date in passing as 26 March, so at least a year old, probably many more. 5085 WTWW-2 is however AWOL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1729 UT March 7

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.97-USB, continuing previous March 6 LRA36 log: as expected not a trace of it direct to here just before 1900. After 1900 I`m listening via Iceland ``VHF`` KiwiSDR, where Dan Robinson says it`s coming in well (a lot further than Brasil, but all over-water path). All talk but mostly unreadable, then 1910 music past 1913. By 1954 JBA there; 1957 I`m back on Pardinho SP SDR which gets it best of all. Talking about the ``campaña antártica``; 2014 contacting someone at another base, Marambio until 2016, contact info, ID with frequency 15476, some music, YL acknowledging reports and saludos; brief fade-down; discussion of ``campaña de verano desde el 6 de noviembre``. 2036 mentions a base uruguaya; 2037 current weather including temp 5 grados = heatwave; 2050 music, song about Antarctica including lyrix, hielo, cielo (ice and sky, which don`t rhyme as well in English); some other songs and off before 2100.
Roger provides a 48+ minute segment starting ~1900z from the somewhat bumpy webstream .... including weather conditions, IDs: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/vkce2ndwozd663g/2020-03-06-1900z-LRA36-cut-.mp3?dl=1 And here`s that nice song he also found: https://youtu.be/o5EzpHiXU_Q Base Esperanza (Canción Corazón Antártico) - Patricia Sosa https://youtu.be/MkP18Q7wh28 Corazón Antártico - Patricia Sosa (con letra) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ARGENTINA [non]. 5800, UT Sat March 7 at 0132, RAE via WRMI with `Actualidad DX.com.ar`, playing a clip of Radio Nyawa Sarawak. Too bad this DX program is simultaneous with WOR X 3, not to mention AAAWWW but the latter will be an hour earlier from next week due to the imposition of DST and WBCQ acquiescence (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15370.0, March 6 at 2309, RHC remains on-frequency, but S9+20 of distortion and hum on modulation. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 5080-USB, March 7 at 0118, soul, jazz music, no announcements, stops at 0137 tho I tuned away a bit at 0128 to check WOR frequencies. Fair with bubbling probably from local device. In the absence of WTWW 5085! Mix Radio International per lots of reports here, as early as 2136 March 6: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,63822.0.html Could have stayed on later as no-show from WTWW by 0300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 6130 // 7325, March 7 at 0116, another check of RRI finds English on these frequencies, no Romanian or anything on 5910 & 7410. Apparently two transmitters are out of order (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960, March 6 at 2318, as some guy on WRMI mentions that Spain and Turkey are the only overseas stations still in English to us at this hour, I check and not today: another absence of VOT where something`s always erroneous at Emirler. 2339 recheck, I do make out a JBA carrier on 5960-minus, i.e. XJPBS. But English from Spain before 2330 succeeds on 9690 vs WOR on 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 11720, Friday March 6 at 2115, VOA `Music Time in Africa` has hyper Heather talking about some award show coming up on Saturday November 30! So this is a rerun. I wonder how often that happen less obviously (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2024 monitoring: confirmed first American SWBC, Friday March 6 at 2300 on WRMI 9955: this time very light pulse jamming soon abates, and rest of show is in the clear, 100% readable to 2329. Also confirmed UT Sat Mar 7 at 0130 on WRMIs: 5010 fair with trace of LAH, Madagascar or India? As usual, Spanish Bibling is chopped off at 0129:30 for ID. Also on 5850, VG S9+30; and 7780, VP in HNL here, but HjB in Germany confirms it at 0157 with SINPO 35443. Next: 0900 UT Saturday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 [not last week; please check!] to NE 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415] 0900 UT Sunday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 9395? to NNW 0300vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW 0330 UT Monday WRMI 9955 to SSE 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB or 3210 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9955, March 6 at 2158, VORW ending on WRMI; John seems to be saying all his times on WRMI including 5850 will be one hour later with DST --- I don`t think so. If there were any retime they would be one hour earlier, but unless there has been a drastic policy change, most WRMIs stay on UT, except for System B on 9955; and System G which is mainly 9395 but partly involving 7780, 5950 if we believe the outdated grid. That sked in EST/EDT makes it hard to mesh with other Systems employing those frequencies (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.2v, UT Sat March 7 at 0100, WBCQ with some other music before WTO, and of course again ``Angela & Allan Weiner WorldWide`` without either of them, instead Pirate Joe subbing once again. Says he had only 25 minutes` notice to prepare, and that was while he was on air with WHVW classical music show; sorry, too much else is going on this hour to devote time to monitoring all his random rambling in case there be any nugget of info about what`s really going on at `BCQ. 5130 still not on air at 0100, but it is on when next checked at 0152 with PJ here too //. John Carver`s version: ``Tonight's show started on time on 7490. No signal on 5130. Pirate Joe is hosting again this evening. Stated that he only had thirty minutes notice that he was hosting and he was in the middle of a program on his station when he found out so had nothing planned for this show. Rambled on for a bit and then played some music. Spent a fair amount of time talking about the twenties. He tried several times to compare the twenties to the sixties but never completed the thought. Then he talked about prohibition, then into the Pony Express, and into traveling cross country in different time periods, and then into world travel in several different centuries. A check at 0136 revealed still no program on 5130, but during a check at 0158 the program was on 5130 so it came up sometime in the last twenty-two minutes. Show was off the air at 0200. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0325 UT March 7

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.97-USB, March 6 at 1820-1835+, LRA36 with songs, poor signal via another Brazilian KiwiSDR since Pardinho is already maxed out at 8 users. Hello to Dan Robinson, who has done the same. Tnx to tip from Manuel Méndez, Spain, that it`s already on prior to publicized special broadcast at 1900 about summer activities around the bases (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CANADA. 399 kHz, March 6 at 0650 UT, NDB dash and ZHD, which is 25 watts from Dryden - Barclay, Ontario (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CANADA. 2749-USB, March 6 at 0727, TWO CCG stations with marine weather in French QRMiing each other at about equal levels, same roboyl voice, but apparently different content, not merely offset echoing. As I have noted a number of times before, none scheduled before 0737 or 0740; per http://dxinfocentre.com/mb.htm the possible bilingual stations on 2749 are: VCO Sydney NS at 0740; VCN Escoumins, Québec from 0847; and VAR-9 Yarmouth (Halifax) NS from 1040; and no languages specified from VCS-21 Halifax at 0810. Canadian CG needs to get its acts together, or rather separated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5040, March 6 at 0720, RHC is still on with dead air except for humsqueal. 6060 is DA at S9+10; 6145 and 6100 are modulating English; 6000 is off. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Once hit by DST, I hope not to be awake and monitoring after 0630 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15700, March 6 at 1502, CRI Plus relay is S9+30 but suptorted also with tone. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 15230, March 6 at 1503, RHC is unusually off, while 15140 remains distorted at S9+20. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 13740, March 6 at 1508, this RHC is off, while 13700 remains at S9+30 in Sonido Cubano music, no spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11700, March 6 at 1511, RHC is ON this frequency // 11760, but 11700 is not supposed to be on at all in the mornings, only 2300-0600! Suspect this is the transmitter missing now from 15230. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ETHIOPIA [non]. 11990, March 6 at 1507 new IRRS broadcast in Oromo, S4-S6; recheck via UTwente at 1557 more lively talk, chopped off at 1559* with no ID. Meanwhile, I asked IRRS what this is, and quickly received a Coronavirius e-QSL along with ``OMN -- Oromia Media Network``. From that I quickly search out all this info but nothing about old or new SW broadcasts; note the date on first one, 6 years ago: Oromia Media Network Launch -- Live! 268,387 views •Streamed live on Mar 1, 2014 1.3K 171 Share Save OMN 140K subscribers Millions of Oromos now have the chance to enjoy quality media focusing on the needs and aspirations of the Oromo people. Lebanon electrical fluid may still be sporadic post-tornado. At 0722 I check again, when 5085 is still VG, and 5830 is JBA, presumably WTWW-1 as neighbor 5935 WWCR is also JBA. The MUF must be sharp between 5 and 6 MHz. Usually it`s above 6 MHz allowing both to inboom when on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1539.96 approx., March 6 at 0707 UT, tell-tale het against 1540 KXEL et al., prime suspect being KGBC Galveston TX, which sometimes but not always, is askew. Careful LSB tuning manages to pull it apart as signal increases, after 0714 music, ``Ain`t That a Shame``, 0715 full ID for KGBC also FM 101.7, `Baytown, Houston, we`ve got you covered`` --- also Enid. As of last August, in NRC AM Log, KGBC format was Tejano --- not any more; U4 2500/250 watts, address in Houston, and 101.7 is K269GS, no mention of offfrequenciness from 1540.00. WTFDA DB shows 101.7 in Houston proper, still Spanish/Tejano. Radio-locator.com also still claims KGBC is ``Tejano``. Ain`t that a shame? ** CUBA. 6060, March 5 at 0718, RHC is S9+20 but JBM in English; 6145 is S9+10 undermodulated but sufficient. Of the remaining Cuban Five, 5040 and 6000 are off; 6100 a JBA carrier likely something else: perhaps KCBS P`yongyang altho a bit early for it, sunset not until 0934. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 13740, March 5 at 1524, RHC S9/+10 of dead air, which is getting to be a habit; while 13700 is modulating OK at S9+20 without spurs. Something`s always wrong at RHC, which is supposed to be OFF 13740 at 1500*-*2200. 13740, March 5 at 1856, S9 open carrier, still RHC? RFI in French is scheduled here at 1700-2000, and I do briefly hear a bit of French underneath at 1857-1900+ but by 1908 just the carrier, S9+10. At 1911 I check via UTwente SDR and find a weak OC. So is it RHC, ISS out of order, or both? A day or two ago, my caradio stopped on 13740 during a sufficiently modulated RFI French (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ETHIOPIA [non]. 11990, March 5 at 1530, language talk at S5-S8, HOA music, ID sounds like ``Huna Radio ----`` but not Arabic; recheck 1600 is off. Ron Norton notified me along with expanded IRRS English broadcasts for Coronavirus: ``Additionally, new broadcasts have been started as of today March 4, 2020 in Oromo language to Ethiopia on 11990 from 1500-1600 UTC (@ 250 kW)`` and the IRRS website says it`s daily. But name of it or sponsorship NOT given; another new clandestine to this area? Ivo Ivanov in Bulgaria says site is Secretbrod = Kostinbrod, Bulgaria where the power is only 50 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2024) See also ITALY [non] ** GREECE. 9420, March 6 at 0053, S9-S5 of open carrier --- yet another station suffering from Dead Air Syndrome, Voice of Greece (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ITALY [non]. (7290), March 5 at 1824, via UTwente SDR, `War Room - Pandemic`` new show about CoronaVirus on IRRS, interviewing someone from a Los Angeles hospital, until 1845 music fill for rest of hour. Part of expanded broadcasts from IRRS, starting 7290 at 1800 instead of 1900: that explains why I was already hearing music on Monday March 2 before WORLD OF RADIO --- but there was some kind of change in transmission before 1900, different sites? 7290 has been assumed to be one of the Romanian sites, Saftica or Tsiganeshti. Ron Norton wrote: ``Hello There from IRRS & EGR, 1.) Stay home, stay safe: listen to Shortwave! 73s, Ron`` That`s the motto on the eQSL which several have already received along with an illustration of the CV. Ivo Ivanov says 9640 is also via Bulgaria since he can hear its second harmonic 19280 on local groundwave and power is only 50 kW. Richard Langley notes: ``Website mentions this: "A new program aired via IRRS-Shortwave is called “War Room Pandemic” and produced in the USA by Steve Bannon, political advisor, media executive, former investment banker and former White House Chief Strategist." !!! Will it be objective and science-based?`` --- Beware! Dr Hansjoerg Biener says on 04 March: ``Bannon's website on the new podcast is available at https://pandemic.warroom.org/ His podcast seems to have started on 27 January 2020 but look at the web address closely: https://pandemic.warroom.org/category/war-room-impeachment/page/2/ SPECIAL – War Room: Pandemic, Why the Wuhan Coronavirus is So Important January 27, 2020 Steve Bannon, Jack Posobiec, Jack Maxey, Simone Gao, Kyle Bass, Dr. Bradley Thayer, Bill Gertz, and Maura Moynihan take part in a special, hour-long discussion about the coronavirus emerging out of China, and the serious economic and health implications`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2024) ** MEXICO. 6185.710v, March 6 at 0048, oh2, XEPPM is off-frequency again after someone bumped the transmitter, JBM Spanish.
