on 9700, just in time to impose ACI splash upon much weaker 6160- WBCQ
and WORLD OF RADIO. Shux, but we`ll see if permanent or not. 9700 did
clash with Turkey at 0400-0700 but RHC usually well atop here. 6165 is
still on with dead air of S9+20/30 at 0729. Something`s always wrong

** EGYPT. 9899.588v, Dec 13 at 2145, R. Cairo still trying to
broadcast in English and failing miserably: S9+20/25 into UTwente, but
modulation of totally distorted spikes only; I rip off my headphones
in disgust, but from the table I hear a 3+1 mis-timesignal at 2200:49,
a bit of the theme; and at 2204.6 cuts off the air ceding to noise
level. UTwente still receiving at 2220 when it`s putting out amid the
hash, electronic tones of seemingly random pitch and length, perhaps
an artifact of trying to synch on the non-signal? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** FRANCE. 15285.070V, Dec 13 at 1615, S3-S5 of talk, the frequency
audibly wavering. It`s Issoudun with R. Manara International in Hausa.
Previously measured during same hour Nov 27 at 15285.052. See also SAO

** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 15460.071, Dec 13 at 1613, S4-S6 of talk, VOA
Pinheira in Kinyarwanda scheduled, typical offfrequenciness here; I
bet the earlier ``15460`` VOA hours via Vatican, Botswana be a lot
closer. Previously measured during same hour Nov 27 at 15460.070,
within margin of error. See also FRANCE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Dec 13 at 2311, REE`s token English after the
news, presents the full speech of Nobel Peace Prize winner from the
Philippines, Maria Ressa, an excellent advocate for Freedom of the
Press. Unfortunately, REE is going into deeper and deeper fades into
the local high Xmas noise level and I give up about halfway through.
Quick check of the other three frequencies finds zero signals on
11670, 11940, 12030, not propagating and/or not on the air. Her speech
should be available somewhere, eventually in REE archive (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 13565 CW, Dec 13 at 1610, HIFER beacon K6FRC, Patterson CA,
is JBA then increasing to BA; latest in day yet logged but always in
the mornings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2116 monitoring: not confirmed
Sunday December 12 at 2100 on AM Italia, 918 kHz, still running the
Marconi anniversary special loop, as heard via Noale SDR.

Confirmed Sunday December 12 at 2352 the 2330 on WRMI 5950 but JBA to
Bonaire, and 9955 at S9+5. Then to Missouri SDR, 5950 is S8+35/25 and
9955 S6-S9. At Bonaire, NO signal on 4980, should be audible if
propagating, since 5010 WRMI is there. No 4980 either to Missouri.
Another example of self-contradictory WRMI skedgrid info: System L
shows 5950 only but transmitter sked atop shows System L also applies
to 4980 at 23-24. Apparently 4980 at 23-24 is really M-F only during
APS Radio program. WOR did appear once on 4980, Fri Dec 3 at 2330
before APS launched. Now that broadcast is on neither.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 13 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, S5-S7 into
Missouri vs hi noise level, but improved to S9+10/25 at 0047.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 13 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9+5/S7 to
Missouri; but at 0138 NO signal direct.

Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 13 at 0230 on WRN North America webcast.

Also confirmed UT Mon Dec 13 at 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-,
carrier minus 45 Hz = 6159.955 to Knoxville SDR, JBA to S2-S4 -- as
RHC has moved back to 6165 from 9700 just in time to resume QRMing us
with much stronger signal, no better but carrier offset shows minus 52
Hz = 6159.948. Next:

** ANTARCTICA. Correxion: the surprise was Sat Dec 4 not Wed; fixed:
15475.98 RCUSB, Sat Dec 11 at 1523 & 1556 chex, NO signal from LRA36
into Brasil remote, despite surprise appearance last Sat Dec 4 (Glenn

** CUBA. 9700, UT Sun Dec 12 at 0735, RHC English S9+30 here while all
other frequencies are off, music show. RHC does feature some good
music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ITALY. Advance publicity that AM Italia, 918 kHz would also be
broadcasting on LW 207 kHz on Dec 12 to mark the 120th anniversary of
Marconi`s trans-Atlantic transmission from Cornwall to Newfoundland.
207 would run 1 kW into a 350-meter wire antenna.

Via Noale SDR near Villa Estense, Dec 12 at 0618 UT, traces of a
carrier on 207 kHz, while on 918 I hear some tones, and Italian
narration about the historical event. S, ... in CW over and over again
at 0624. Maybe this is a loop. 0625 brief announcement about this in
English, offering QSL. And repeat the Italian. At 0628 on 207 sounds
like the same thing, but very poor unreadable there with hashy QRM,
and then fast CW QRM, maybe image on that SDR.

Some Europeans could hear 207 with difficulty, and the same was also
reported on 918; and 1323 kHz, which is not listed in WRTH 2021 as
anywhere in Italy. The loop may continue thruout Dec 12 and into Dec

** NORTH AMERICA. 6960 AM, Dec 12 at 0253, soft jazz at S7-S9. 0257 ID
by YL as ``--- Radio``. These say it`s Ball Smacker Radio:

America, which ought to be detectable, since 11670 for Africa is, as

December 11 at 2058 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, about 17
minutes into so started circa 2041, S9+10 into nearby Warrenton

Also confirmed UT Sun Dec 12 at 0030 on WRMIs: 7730 S9+5 into MO SDR;
and 5950, S9+20/30. The 5950 airing is to be replaced by `Postcard
Panorama: A Shortwave Radio Conversation` from January.

Also confirmed UT Sun Dec 12 at 0501 UT on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, about
9 minutes into so started late circa 0452; VG into nearby KB0FX SDR.
