** BRAZIL. 11780, June 11 from 0140, I`m monitoring RNA/RNB via
various ZY, OA remotes, one of which times out in only 5 minutes; the
best signal from this or 6180 are not into the `local` `Brasila` one.
Because last night there was no token English at 0150, rather Spanish
and then some native language. But tonight hyper Brasuguese keeps
going past 0150 and 0200, I guess some stupid ballgame. So maybe

** CHINA. 15970, JBA carrier with flutter, and even weakers 16100 &
16160, June 11 at 2214 direct, i.e. jammers against Sound of Hope, as
listed on these three in a row in Aoki, among countless others (Glenn

** CUBA. Hearing RHC`s Spanish DX program `En Contacto` is just about
impossible on SW, but it`s still being produced. I came across this
link to audio of the June 10 edition:

Very well done, including upcoming ham DXpedition info. I pay especial
attention to the closing credits, namely guión = script by Luís Rafael
Milán Roldán as in QRZ.com: ``CO7GW Cuba flag Cuba, LUIS RAFAEL MILAN
ROLDAN, CALLE UNION, EDIF TRANSPORTE AGROPECUARIO APTO 11, E/ REEVES Y
CARR., CTAL, CAMAGUEY 70600 Cuba`` E/ probably means esquina, corner

** OKLAHOMA. 1390, June 11 at 0654 UT, dead air from KCRC Enid instead
of stupidsportstalk; and at 0703, 1640 KZLS also dead air. The two are
normally // but not exactly in sync (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1670 kHz, June 11 at 2020 UT, for the record, Virtual DJ
Radio is still going, always audible in the vicinity of junxion of
US81 and 412 in Enid. Rock music with DJs naming themselves. Am I the
only one anywhere hearing this webcaster transmitted on AM or FM?

** OKLAHOMA. Bandscan in downtown Enid by USPS Box 1684, finds
anomalies: 92.1 deadair in $ tereo; 101.7 deadair in mono, probably
idle RF feeders in parked vehicles. On 96.3 extremely distorted
mixture of two talk stations, never heard before. This is a block from
the almost-vacant Broadway Tower hosting some FM stations, but I can`t
figure out a mixing formula and have only the caradio, no second
receiver to search for matches.

Once further from downtown I am hearing on 92.1 as expected mono music
and at 2029 UT, ``America`s Best Country 92.1``; ad for an event June
28! for Independence Day in Bray, which is the next town a few miles
east of Marlow, ad for Legacy Bank, and ``KFXI, Country 92``. 

WTFDA FMDB shows ``KFXI Foxy 92 The Real Country Giant`` which may
well also be correct, as any station does not necessarily have a
certain single slogan engraved in stone and no others, but variations

** OKLAHOMA. My last DTV set-top-box converter is back in service.
More than a week ago there was a power glitch, after which it refused
to turn back on -- or rather its eye did change from red to blue, but
no output into the TV set. Finally after multiple reboots it`s back,
until the next power failure. So with somewhat tropo enhancement I do
a mostly-UHF bandscan June 11 at 0337 UT. RF 28, virtual 34 from Tulsa
market, KTPX-TV Okmulgee, is decoding; several BAD signals achieve at
least a little bar on RF: 36, 34, 31, 26, 22, 21, 20, 14. And Enid`s
only local TV, K17JN-D on RF 17 is OFF AGAIN, a.k.a. K17JI-D mis-ID.
K17JN-D is licensed to Clarion Broadcasting Group, Inc., admittedly
closely allied to 3ABN, and with three other low-power relays in OK.

I much prefer this Zenith receiver rather than DTV sets with built-in
tuners which are user/DXer-unfriendly. Why the hell should I have to
scan for signals rather than manually tune easily to each channel no
matter temporarily? how weak?? Of course these were handed out free at
the big DTV conversion; I got a few but should have got more, at least
in reserve. Wonder if they still be available, preferably new/unused

** SPAIN. 17715 & 15500, both S9+20/30 direct, 15520 S9+10/20 and
15390 only S9 = noise level, token English from SNR, Wed June 11 at
2200 joining for //, opening with Sinatra`s `New York, New York`,
intro feature about Madrid`s yearly book fair, NY being the theme;
interview with two women officials, as theme of fair is: NY. BTW, USA
is the #2 Spanish-speaking country in the world, i.e. must be more
than España with only 48.35 total megapeople, after #1 México 129.7.
Right into this, skipping any news, who cares? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** TURKEY. 11785.006+, June 11 at 2157, VOT English not off the air
but JBA direct S9/+10 with IS & ID. At 2226 into UTwente when
measured, S9+30/40 music and 2230 some talk feature, music. 2246
multi-lingual ID filler reel, music. 2252 TRTVOTVorld promo. 2253
s/off as if 17620 at 1230, awry at Ankara, 2254 IS to almost 2256*

June 10 at 2330 on WRMI 9395, S9+30 into Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed Wednesday June 11 from 1931 on SW Radio, Germany
6160.001+ S9/+10 and 3975.002+ S9+5/10 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday June 11 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -77 Hz =
7489.923, S8 into Maryland SDR. Next:

** U S A. 7780, June 11 at 0632, JBA signal, sounds like TOMBS,
probably like slightly stronger 7730. WRMI 7780 is normally very
silent long before this hour. But the current skedgrid does show
WRMI-11 7780 from 00 to 11 including Overcomer block 06-08. With TOMBS
allegedly about to quit radio broadcasts, it would be interesting to
calculate the total number of weekly transmitter-hours on WRMI, but
DOW, especially weekend variations difficultize that (Glenn Hauser,

** U S A. 780, June 11 at 0639 UT, just before very reliable
`StarDate` time 0640 on WBBM Chicago, weather forecast for low of 33,
high of 90. 33?? in June, almost summer? NWS shows the June 11 low at
Midway was axually 64.9 F at 0853 & 1053 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11485-11538 approx., June 11 at 2208, wideband
multi-tone, multi-carriers beating against each other, S9+20; like
often heard circa 17450 and some other places, but not before in this
range which could QRM broadcasters. What is this? (Glenn Hauser, OK,

prompted by some recent paths into OK on DXMAP. Maybe just for an

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9980, June 10 at 1423, TOMBS via WWCR still
blasting S9+40. However, big news from Wavescan is that the BS
ministry is about to quit SW; more on the next WS. This may have a
drastic effect on most private US SW stations depending on that cash
cow, if they can stay on the air at all, reducing other programming
hours? But they will no longer be so embarrassed or subject to
ridicule.

At 2214 direct, TOMBS on WTWW 9930, S9+20/30 and exactly 10 seconds

WBCQ on usual offset but not sked except on UT Sat, Sun, Mon. Should

lower than usual range above 15100, but less likely to bother any
