** U S A. 5085, Aug 22 at 0202, this WTWW is back on the air with
Truth2Ponder, VG signal direct, S9+50/60! George McClintock informs me
before 1600 that will try 9475 again later today. Good news: the
factory in Germany is so concerned about the failure of their
transmitter that they are sending someone over next week to work on
it. The other transmitter, #1 is a ``total disaster, fell apart``, and
there is no one to blame but -- you know who. 5085 only is again on
air at 0130 check August 23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WRMI anomalies: 5800, Thu Aug 22 at 0644, S9+10/20 of dead
air, must be WRMI-10, which normally finishes at 0400* and no jamming
audible. 5950 WRMI-8, normally also off at 0400* is S9+30/35 with
TOMBS at 0645, and running about 4 words behind 5850, WRMI-12 which is
normally overnight. Also the continuing anomalies of 9955 WRMI-3 with
RFI Spanish, and 5010 WRMI-14 with TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF

** U S A. 9930, Aug 20 at 2329, this WTWW with TOMBS is off already,
tho had been on earlier at 2211. Now NO WTWW frequencies are on air;
nor after 0100 does 5920 appear.

George McClintock sends me this the morning of Aug 21: ``WTWW: SW100
belts --- Glenn, The SW100 Harris #3 transmitter lost 2 drive belts
that allow control of the IPA and plate motors. Spares were replaced
and are now working fine. The last SW100 problem is the error light
that stays on preventing the high voltage from being applied.  I have
not been able to correct this problem YET.`` {with photos} {2 minutes
later:} ``The IPA driver and the plate tune motor belts being
replaced. Not an easy job.

Circa 1830 Aug 21 he needs me to monitor as he attempts to bring
transmitter up on 9930; may not be getting accurate frequency
readouts. I get a big blob of extreme distortion circa 9790-9795,
confirmed as WTWW when he cuts modulation momentarily. Correlates with
a JBA carrier on 9475 when he is trying to come up there. Something is
very wrong with this other transmitter. But at 2130 he notifies me
that he did get ``5`` to come up, presumably 5085, so WOR could appear
as scheduled UT Saturday at 0300; but no telling what more might
happen in meantime. He says the other transmitter will be out for
maybe two weeks awaiting manufacture and shipment of replacement part
from Germany. Meanwhile he has built a backup studio at the site.
Another check about 2230 and 2355: no signals on 5085, 5920, 9475 or

furthest SW sites on Earth, closest to antipodal from here (Glenn

specific at s/on. 2201 news begins with another Israeli raid on Gaza.

cannot understand the name of the writer nor his background apparently
in some detail, nor am I going to strain to comprehend the content but

20: one of the WTWW transmitters failed, and awaiting part to be
shipped in from Germany. In the meantime, only on the air is 9930 with
Brother Stair. But not yet on air today. Evidently all 9475/5085
programming is suspended including World of Radio until it`s fixed.
Indeed at 2211 check, 9930 is on with TOMBS // 9980 WWCR but not
synchronized, and 9475 is off. How about 5920 after 0100? (Glenn

UNIDENTIFIED. 1141 kHz, Aug 19 at 0640, JBA 1 kHz het to 1140
stations. Probably one of the numerous Rebelde pileups to block WQBA
Miami, which it seems due to format changes is really unnecessary.
Terry Krueger in the FL Panhandle reported: ``1141 UNIDENTIFIED 0716
5/16/24 Fairly strong and solid with no audio, as reported by others.
Points roughly 330/150-ish degrees, which should eliminate Cuba if
accurate enough. Anyone in Mexico able to check?`` But seems to me
that would include western Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. RF 13, Aug 19 circa 15 UT, STB displays 13-5 with a
broken-up freeze-frame, ultimately looks like OETA OKC, which is
always marginal or absent via my rooftop antenna aimed at OKC. But
there is large tropo enhancement into Kansas per APRS map. The thing
is, OETA does not go above 13-4. I bet it was trying to decode KUPK
Garden City, which Rabbitears.info shows does contain a Display 13-5
of Scripps News, or Physical channel 13.5 of Bounce (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)
