Tuesday, March 04 2025
** CHILE. 28485 USB, March 3 at 2135, CA3PHX making quick contacts in English or Spanish, with North, Central American stations. Had a hard time understanding the last two fonetix of his call, finally decided they were ``hotel, x-ray``. QRZ.com with lots of photos of him and his equipment: ``CA3PHX Chile flag Chile, Mauricio "Mauro" Pacheco, La Florida, santiago chile. +56984082037 Chile`` I already logged him Dec 25, 2024 on 28505 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. Re 11529.9, ex-Hikari FM missing lately, Ron Howard replies: ``Hi Glenn - Here is the quick reply from Ivan, who operates the station. Ron (Monterey, Calif.) "Sorry about the blackout, the shortwave transmitter is not doing great and I took it down for investigation. There are harmonics that might interfere a little with other stations if my signal is strong. They are not bad but at this point I have figured out how to design it differently and avoid class D modulators. I am also trying to get into California right now on 1710 khz and it is difficult to run two transmitters at a time. There is some success though so I think keep a lookout on 1710, hopefully I will be able to get a signal into your area. Right now it is there but it is weak and XEPE [Tecate, Baja California, Mexico] is a problem. I plan on rebuilding the shortwave transmitter entirely or at least looking at the schematic and seeing if there are any shortcomings that need to be fixed. I am switching over to class G modulators, they require no filters and have better audio. They are slightly less efficient and require multiple power supplies or DC converters. Hopefully I can get everything working properly soon. Very Best Regards, Ivan" (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Mon Mar 3 at 2300, token English from SNR VG direct, good on 17715, fair on 17755, still missing from 12030; previews topic to be roots of Spanish astronomy - or rather gastronomy upon quickcheck at 2322, interviewee with a very heavy accent (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, March 3 at 2259 direct, no signal but JBA on 9610, but by 2301, JBA carrier on 5960 from VOT to NAm. Into UTwente at 2325, 5960.003 is S9+40/50 with 6CI; during cute talk about famous cats inhabiting the White House, 10 Downing St., Hermitage in St. Pete, Hemingway house in Key West, Hugo Chávez in Cáracàs [sic], Kosovo. I guess it`s the item Alan Roe refers to simply as `The Feature`. 2330 music. 2341 multi-lingual ID filler reel, music. 2355 s/off and IS off before 2356* uncovering Chinese music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28470 USB, March 3 at 2145, quick contacts among domestic hams, refers to hfqso.com which shows contacts on many different bands and frequencies but this is the starter on 10m (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2284 monitoring: confirmed Monday March 3 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.003-, S9+10 into UTwente. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160. Thanks this week to Terry L Krueger, Niceville FL for a contribution to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702, ``for all your years of dedication to accuracy`` One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9275, March 3 at 2302, WMLK is S9+30, surprisingly playing ``God Save The Queen`` -- I mean, ``King``. Couldn`t make out the lyrix, ``from every mountainside``? I heard them in morning on 15150 but not lately in afternoon on 17525 - is that one active? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 93.5, March 3 at 2050 UT on caradio, `Thunder Country`, as tropo is enhancing a fringer, KKDT, Burdett KS, close, in WTFDA FMDB as ``93.5 Thunder`` not to be confused with one other, KTND Aspen CO, ``Thunder 93.5`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0316 UT March 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Monday, March 03 2025
** CUBA [and non]. 870, March 3 at 0640 UT, wobbler, or whipper about equal level to WWL. Not on 1040 or anywhere else now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 15230, March 3 at 1540, RHC S8/S9 but suptorted music. Something`s always wrong at (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 1549.82, March 3 at 0547, JBA carrier still perceptible probably from XEREL, Morelia, Michoacán (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 11529.9, March 3 at 1545, not even a JBA carrier from the pirate, ex-Hikari FM, nor have I perceived it for several days in random day and night chex. Last log I see was from Rick Barton, AZ on Feb 22. Anyone heard it since or from now on? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 11934.9, March 3 at 1546, JBA carrier, presumed Rep. of Yemen Radio via Riyadh on signature skewed frequency. However, Tony Pavick has reported via NASWA Flashsheet: ``11935.03 SAUDI ARABIA. R of Yemen Radio, 1700, 26 Feb. ARABIC: Military sounding music. Slightly high from nominal 11935. Fluttery signal, fair quality `` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.002, Sunday March 2 at 2300, VOT English not off the air, S9+40/45 into UTwente, s/on with date, and news. Next check 2317 the CCCCCCI is now on but well under, during a commentary, until 2319 about foreign affairs, title per Alan Roe`s sked is `The Pulse of Turkish Foreign Policy`; TRTVOTVOrld.com promo, and start `Letterbox`. Same new YL hostess as last week, says QSLs have been sent to those reporting since resumed Feb 17. Those called this week, many of the names not understandable: 1) Portugal; 2) Antonio? from Croatia wanted a song to be IDed; 3) Chakroborty, India, laments skiresort fire disaster; 4) John Jurasek, Orlando FL, welcome back; 5) Alan Roe, UK, welcome back, heard since Feb 18, explain what happened? She repeats briefly what said last week, and makes a point again that there is now only one ``political`` program, on Fridays: I guess that would be the `Foreign Policy` one which just repeated today. 7) Christer Brunström, Sweden, TV audio on SW was not a good idea, she agrees. 2329 a song. 2333, 8) Lithuania, report for QSL. 9) Chris? from Canada; 10) Chris Campbell [Ohio], says VOT his favorite station, has been SWL since 1986 and plans to visit Turkey soon; 11) Mike? from Belgium. 12) Harold -?, Boston. 13) Guy? Atkins, USA. 2342 contact info, closing song from Azerbaijan, singer with guitar. 2347 Letterbox outro. Then some other talk I missed instead of music fill. 2352 s/off as if 1330 on 13635: awry. 2353 IS. 2356 restart IS with German IDs: erroneous. 0000 March 3 timesignal and German s/on. 0010 same `Letterbox` theme now called `Briefkasten`. Keeps going in German, but by 0016 I notice Chinese only, which has been uncovered sounding just as strong as VOT was (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2284 monitoring: Also confirmed Sunday March 2 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.998- kHz, S8 into UTwente across Europe. Also confirmed Sunday March 2 at 2258 the 2230 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.003-, S8/9+5 into UTwente. Also confirmed UT Monday March 3 from 0402 on Area 51 stream only, while WBCQ 5130 -57 Hz = 5129.943 played some music after JL gotta go, until 0403* Next: 2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160. 26110 NBFM, March 3 at 1540, KMK282, aux of KOVR, only S5 and far from full quieting (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. ``Hey Glenn: The UNID 840 KHz is likely KVJY - the station frequently plays Spanish religious music at night (of many genres). 73, Mike Beu, KD5DSQ, Austin, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. ``Glenn, with local KLAT 1010 on a daytime only STA operation the past nine months, I have heard WJXL on numerous occasions at night here in Houston. I have also wondered about their pattern being out of whack. Stephen Luce, Houston, Texas`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, March 3 at 0712, S9 but noisy music from R. Vanuatu reactivated, but not on 9960 before 0659. Ron Howard confirmed them back on 7260 earlier this date via remote, no change at 0659. And he says still on 7260 at 1908+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN [non?]. 13830 at S9+20 // 15565 S9+30, March 3 at 1539, VR in Somali, usual conundra, as each is the SSOB except for USA 13820, 13845, 15150, and hardly anything else from Europe, so are these SMG aiming the wrong way, or really back from MADAGASCAR? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 15022 USB, March 3 at 1541, 2-way in Spanish JBA, many ``cambio``s; Klingenfuß 2022 shows AMS for this frequency, no further details, = aeronautical mobile service (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 1951 UT March 3 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** CANADA. 6754 USB, March 2 at 0342, Trenton Military, still ``no report received`` from Shearwater, Greenwood, Gander, Halifax; and for good measure repeated several times. Anyone ever hear CHR now with any reports received? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** KOREA NORTH. 11635, March 2 at 0750, choral music at S9, nothing listed now in Aoki, EiBi, or HFCC. 0800 VOK IS, Russian? announcement, heavy Korean accent, and anthem, but also CCI from something else; and ACI from 11640 which would be CRI in Cantonese. EiBi & Aoki do show 11635 as a VOK/KCBS frequency but only at 1800-2350. WRTH does show Russian at 0700-0900 but on 11735! mispunched entry or changed? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11550.9, March 2 at 0359, music at S9/+10 with a het from 11550.0, axually not sure which one music be on. Presumably the TurcoKurdo radiowar, Dengê Gel via ARMENIA and Turkish jammer, starting at 0400 per EiBi; could be anywhere in the 11.5s (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6935 AM, March 2 at 0341, S9/+10 but hardly any modulation audible in noise level. A few logs here as Boat Anchor Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,141683.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 9920 USB, March 2 at 0357, S8/S9 music, would take for discovering a licensed NF if it were not in SSB; Soon YL ID as Mix Radio International, still at 0417 but off by 0430. Then I see it had been heard as early as 0142 first on 9907, and off at 0416(?) per: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,141672.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA. 9545, March 2 at 0353, vocal music, soon RRI ID in Spanish, then presenting their entire B24 SSSked dated 27/10/24 to 29/3/25, S9+20/30 and then find weaker // on 9740 only S9+10/20. 9545 is Galbeni at 310 degrees for CIRAF 10, much closer to thisaway than 9740, Tsiganeshti at 247 degrees for CIRAF 14 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 420 MCW kHz, March 2 at 0740 UT, two ND beacons mixing at about equal levels. Among the letters are P, Q, F and K. Those fit for: FQ, Fairmont MN, and PK, Olathe/Herbb KS, both 25 watts. RNA list shows periods for each: FQ `Montz` Fairmont MN, 7.941 seconds; PK Olathe KS, 5.976 sex, i.e. 8 vs 6 seconds, so eventually they will alternate but not much of a pause by either (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2284 monitoring: confirmed Saturday March 1 starting at 2039 the 2030v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, MO, S9+20 into nearby SDR. Also confirmed Saturday March 1 at 2121 the 2100 on WRN Europe stream. Also confirmed UT Sunday March 2 from 0503 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM MO, S8/9+10 into Georgia SDR, the 0415v following ARRL News from 0449, which followed Houston AMSAT net running way late as often. Next: 2000 UT Sunday IRRS 1323-Italy; 2230 UT Sunday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2330 UT Sunday WRMI 7570 to NW and 7780 to SW; 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to SW; 0930 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 6160; 2030 UT Monday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160. 1010 kHz, March 2 at 0411 UT, ``go, Gators``, Gainesville Chevrolet ad, Gators Basketball, who won 89-70, more local ads, ``10-10 XL`` non-ID, so it`s certainly WJXL, JaXonviL Beach FL, U4 50/30 kW. Seems its night pattern is still way out of whack, atop channel a kilomile to the west instead of all-out eastward into the Atlantic. Hey, thataway they couldn`t cover Gainesville! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1040 & 1080, UT Sunday March 2 at 0414 UT, both WHO and KRLD ads/promos within `Our American Stories`, but not //. One of the better shows on AM talk radio, I think. If I could ever spare a nighthour, might listen to it. https://www.ouramericanstories.com/affiliates (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VATICAN. 9510, March 2 at 0351, S9+10/20 of bells and drumming, very repetitive like a loop, IS, or filler? Quite pleasant, axually. Last thing I would have guessed is VOA Somali via SMG at 0330-0400 - so yet another example of Popesite pushing far too much signal in the opposite direxion; and violating Separation Of Church And State (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 840, March 2 at 0410 UT, Mexmx dominating on N/S antenna, and hardly any WHAS on the E/W loop. Figured it would be the TX, KVJY Pharr but it`s supposedly religious. None of the three XEs seem likely either. Soon WHAS redominates (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1953 UT March 2 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
