Monday, April 19 2021
** CANADA. 6070-, April 19 at 0326, no signal from CFRX, into Virginia remote, as Richard Langley noted a semihour ago in NB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, April 19 at 0055, weak S3-S4 pirate with hard rock, some ACI from the 2-way on 6935-LSB, see UNID. 0101 DJ with reverb, after Wolfman Jack? Makes him hard to understand, but gives an ID and email. Again at 0106; 0113 ``mad man at the microphone``. Still at 0144; off by 0153 recheck. Only 5 logs here say it`s SyckO Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80492.0.html Someone told me it`s pronounced like ``psycho`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, April 18 at 2248, confirmed VOT English to us was on the air today, now signing off and into IS, gone by 2253. No RTTY this late (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2082 monitoring: confirmed Sunday April 18 at 2000 on IRRS via Challenger Radio, 594, Italy, via KiwiSDR remote at Noale. Also confirmed Sunday April 18 at 2200 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.916, at NA5B remote in MD. Tuned in earlier, *2155 with WBCQ IS & ID loop, while A51 webcast ran ``SPAM`` by Monty Python, but they merged by 2200 in time for WOR heard on both. Also confirmed Sun Apr 18 at 2300 on WRMI 7780, good to Virginia SDR. Also confirmed UT Mon Apr 19 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Mon Apr 19 at 0230 on WRMIs: 7780 S5-S8 and 5800 VG S9+20/10 direct. Next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Chuck Ermatinger, Eureka MO, twice via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com --- Not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9395, April 18 at 2300, WRMI with ``Radio Lavalamp``, VG into VA/MD remote somewhat offbeam. A special booking no one asked me to publicize but did so anyway on WOR 2082 which happened to be airing at the same time on WRMI 7780. Mostly music, few announcements, one at 2318, another at 2334 asking for reports to be eQSLed, but gave email only once and could not copy it accurately. Again at 2351 but uncopied. Publicity described music genre as ``Ethereal``, sort of like MFTHOS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5970, April 19 at 0146, RCM, WEWN is OFF, leaving pulse jamming bleed from 5980. Then I check 9385 WEWN English and it`s also OFF. Storm over Vandiver/Irondale/Birmingham? No, Blitzortung shows no lightning closer than central Florida. By 0226, 9385 is back on but 5970 still off. And 5970 still off at 0325 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 5076 & 5094, April 19 at at 0150, pulse jamming noise peaking 8-9 kHz on both sides of 5085 WTWW-2. Much like that emanating from Cuban jamming frequencies such as 5980, 6030, but strange to hear circa WTWW. Possibly own transmitter artifact? The usual JBA parasitic spur carriers are still there separately circa 5072 & 5098 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Non-thoro quick spin thru MW for JBA Trans-Atlantic carriers, April 19 at 0222 UT finds: 684, 774(2), 855(2), 1125, 1134(2), mostly fitting Spain (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 6935-LSB, April 19 at 0053, lengthy 2-way conversation QRMing pirate on 6930-USB. Intonation sounds Brazilian, but don`t understand the words, language unknown (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0410 UT April 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Sunday, April 18 2021
** CUBA. 13838, 13769; 13636, 13562, 13490, all very approx. centers of spurblobs mostly with F# tone, out of RHC 13700-AM, April 18 at 1408, ranging from 64 to 72 kHz intervals; but also not fitting the sequence circa 13668, 13596, roughly halfway between the others. Another check at 1438: 13556, 13628, 13772, 13844 vs WWCR = 72 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NIGERIA. 7254.9, April 18 at 0601, no signal from VON, so the two-night run is over (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9460.005, April 18 at 1845, Turkish music, S4-S8, as TRT scheduled 1500-2058. Hardly anything else from EurAsia audible on this or other bands. So they can do it, but what about 9830 for English at 2200, missing the past two days at least? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2082 monitoring; next: 2000 UT Sunday IRRS via Challenger Radio, Italy, MW 594 2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Chuck Ermatinger, Eureka MO, twice via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com --- Not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU [and non]. 7260, April 18 at 0542, JBA carrier probably R. Vanuatu; but overshadowed by stronger carrier on 7261 -- that could just be a ham instead of LSB. At 0558 I`m QRX for next frequency 11835 to pop on, 3945 X 3, and so it does at *0559:45, but it`s also only JBA carrier tonight; NZ has also just started 11725 which is weaker than usual, only S4-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1926 UT April 18 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Sunday, April 18 2021
** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, April 18 at 0004, S9+20 pirate music in ``Boogie-woogie Country Girl``, 0005 segué to ``This Little Girl`s Gonna Rockin``` --- bet it`s Wolverine Radio this time on a theme of songs about girls; should be plenty of those! Yup, 0034.5 check, Wolverine Radio ID; still going at 0101. Many more logs here with playlists, SSTV IDs: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80432.0.html with famous portrait of a girl: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_with_a_Pearl_Earring ``Girl with a Pearl Earring (Dutch: Meisje met de parel) is an oil painting by Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer dated c. 1665`` --- makes very interesting further reading. Someone might now want to add that she has been immortalised as a Wolverine Radio SSTV QSL. Sure hope she`s P.D. by now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-USB, April 18 at 0243 UT, still a pirate here, sounds as strong as Wolverine, S9+20, same transmitter? These say Drunken DJ Radio took over at 0115 and posting requests here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,80432.15.html 0259 ID as Drunken DJ Radio, asking for requests, and refers to earlier Wolverine broadcast. Then ``8 Miles Hi`` by The Birds. BTW, this has a much better signal than Area 51 on WBCQ, q.v. at USA, and no RHC QRM! At 0307 I notice that switching to 6950-LSB, instead of zero, I get residual audio, only the bass-line of the music, rather than full fidelity on USB! Not sure if this be transmitter anomaly or receiver, but with straight-up passband equally between LSB and USB, and not noticed such on other SSB signals (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, Sat Apr 17 at 2023, REE is a JBA carrier to North America amid G1 storming and K-index of 3. 15520 backwards manages only S3-S5 at 2027, but somewhat readable, a lot better in comparison. At this hour, REE would have a much better chance of reaching us on 13 or 11 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830, Apr 17 at 2222, again no signal from VOT English to us, just RTTY clatter. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2082 monitoring: Richard Langley reports about Saturday at 1300: ``Terrible reception on 15770 kHz here in NB today (17 April) but I could get a few snippets of good audio occasionally. So it is confirmed. I was recording the frequency for Shortwave Radiogram hoping to get good images from the 200th edition of the program. Not this time. Don't know if the poor reception was due to the aftermath of the geomagnetic storm earlier in the day or something else.`` Not confirmed on IRRS 7290, supposed to be Sat Apr 17 at 1801: via UTwente, as usual modulation cuts on late at 1800:26 with Feature Story News, not just headlines, 1803:46 music not WOR and later a YL preacher. There may be a problem with automation scheduling system. Confirmed Sat Apr 17 from 1952:06 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, VG via nearby remote. Next IRRS broadcast scheduled for webcast only Saturday at 2330. https://www.nexus.org/mp3/ As last week, starts with Feature Story News - week in review. But after another ID, WOR 2082 does start at 2334. Yet fades to black at 2400 as I am talking about WBCQ 13570/9330; back for a few words about WHAM, then replaced by classical piano music fill. FYI: a 29:00 minute program will not fit into a 26-minute slot: either let it run another 3 minutes, please, or ditch the news review before it. Also confirmed UT Sunday April 18 from 0331 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, direct at S9+20 but not overcoming high noise level. Next: 2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Chuck Ermatinger, Eureka MO, twice via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com --- Not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5850, UT Sun Apr 18 at 0100-0200, `Encore` classical music hour from R. Tumbril via WRMI. A great mixture of familiar and unfamiliar pieces. Try to hear it now every week when reception is best across America; if not, 25 hours later UT Mon at 0200 on 5950. The 5850 broadcast is also on // 7780 not so good here but to the NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 6159.93, UT Sun April 18, Area 51 via WBCQ is only S7, even tuned to LSB where the splash from 6165 RHC hits S9. Program just ending is `Great Lakes Radio Conspiracy`. Checking this after pirate on 6950-USB/LSB which has a *much* better signal, and NO QRM. At this hour, there is NOTHING on 6155, 6150, 6145, or 6140. But since RHC could jump to 6145 at will, the safest place for WBCQ would be 6155. Unfortunately, US SW stations are not accustomed to addressing QRM problems so rapidly, if ever (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 15825, Apr 17 at 1925, WWCR-1 is S9+ tnx to sporadic E, reinforcing its squeal. Similar megameter-away 15610, WEWN is also S9, both much better than normal. 13845 WWCR-3 is also boosted to S9+25, the SSOB. Nothing much on 17 MHz except 17530 VOA, but I had just heard hams in FL and VA JBA on 18140-USB. Can hardly wait for Es MUF to surpass 88 MHz this spring/summer. Or even 28.3+ MHz for hambeacons (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0407 UT April 18 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** CUBA. My April 16 6100 item wrote EHC instead of RHC; repair (gh)
** U S A. The second graf of my WBCQ/AAAWWW report started with a mistime, 0109 instead of 0009 UT. Please correct if quoting (gh) ========== ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Sat Apr 17 at 1437 tune-in via CX8BIT remote, LRA36 is on with music at S5-S6; weaker S3-S4 into Campo, Brasil, but better S/N so stay on it there: here`s one station not carrying Prince Philip`s funeral! 1440 OM ID as ``Nacional Antártida Argentina, en todo el país, la radio pública`` and music; 1451 same ID by YL; 1457 RNASG/LRA36 ID and talk, still past 1510; long chronology of scientific, literary events from at least 1945y onwards, a `this-day-in-history` feature? Little if anything to do with Antda. Why don`t they tell us about their scientific research, if any? Finally ID with e-mail, URL, FB contact info; and frequencies 15476, FM 96.7 at Esperanza Base. 1517 music; 1520 ID, music; 1523.5 another LRA36 ID, music past 1530. 1532 contact info again. 1534 a song. 1537.5 ID and talk, ID for 15476. 1538 re-start as if signing on in Spanish, German, English ---. Antártida song until 1542. 1550 different song, 1554.5 radio pública ID, etc., etc., more songs past 1612. 1630 contact info. 1633 about 1982 Malvinas war anniversary. Were Antarctic bases somehow involved? S Sandwiches were conquered and then lost. It lasted 10 weeks from 2 April, so we have 8 more weeks of commemoration? Lots more objective history here, including which side other countries supported: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falklands_War By 1640 it`s S1-S3 into Brasília #1 SDR, but quite readable, more Malvinas recollexions. 1708 still going later than usual, contact info and 1711 closing with Antda song, ID to 1713 when it ``signs-on`` yet again in Spanish, German, English; and fourth language, maybe Russian but most of the bit is pronouncing the names in Spanish anyway. 1716 Antda song *again*, welcoming us to another Wednesday program in the 2021 series, and *again* going over the Malvinas war and its aftermath. Still2 going past 1745. BTW, I did not get it checked on Wed Apr 14 morning when LRA36 was probably on, but no other reports of it then (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 6100, April 17 at 0556, this RHC is S9+20 of dead air in English except for some squeal. 6165 is also S9/+20 but modulating somewhat underly. 6060 is S9+30 without humbuzz. 6000 equal. 5040 off. By 0622, only 6100 squeal and 6165 remain. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13630, April 17 at 1420, weak spurblob out of 13700-AM RHC which is only S8-S9. Cannot be sure of a match around 13770, and the Part 15 pulsers on 13560 are unimpeded. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA. 7254.9+, April 17 at 0603, VON on here for second day, S9+20. I was not noticing it just before 0600 when concentrating on adjacent 7260 for Vanuatu, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 17855, April 17 at 1424, REE early start on Sat, but N American frequency is only JBA over total-day path (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2082 monitoring: missed checking Sat Apr 17 at 1300 on WRMI 15770; anyone hear it? Confirmed Sat Apr 17 after 1600 on WRN webcast. Next: 1801 UT Saturday IRRS 7290-Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy [ex-Mon 1801] 1930vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 2300 UT Saturday WRMI 7780 to NE 0300vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0315; as late as 0400] 2200vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 2300 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 to NE 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2200 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to Chuck Ermatinger, Eureka MO, twice via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com --- Not necessarily in US funds One may also contribute, by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5010, April 17 at 0617, S9+10/20 open carrier. Surely it`s WRMI-14, which is supposed to quit at 0430, except Sun & Mon to 0600 but this is Sat. Like 5800 WRMI-10 sometimes shows up carriering this late at night, but not now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, April 17 at 0557, JBA presumed R. Vanuatu X1 about to QSY? Nothing yet on X3 11835. 7260 cuts off at 0559:05*, and in the few seconds it takes me to retune to 11835, that frequency is already activated by 0559:25, with much better S4-S9 signal, continuous YL Bislama talk, and no news theme heard. 3945 X2 on 7890 is JBA carrier; X4 on 15780 unheard yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 4738-4744, April 17 at 0612, some kind of utehash over this range, no central carrier; first sounds somewhat musical, as if a pirate, but can`t get it to resolve anywhere by USB or LSB tuning. Strong S9+10, nonesuch heard before, atop CODAR swishes. Probably US military (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1750 UT April 17 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
