** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Wed July 7 at 1510 tune-in, LRA36 is underway, VP S1-S2 into Brasília #2 SDR, but much better S5-S8 into Pardinho SP, where from 1512 I camp upon someone already exactly tuned to it in McMinnville, Oregon. Tango in progress; same canned ID at every break between tunes, 1515, 1519, 1522, the ``Nacional Antártida Argentina -- la Radio Pública`` one. 1526 YL closing announcement credits Ministerio de Defensa, so this Base is hardly civilian; also acknowledges all the other LRAs around Argentina allegedly relaying. Do they pick it up off this SW frequency or cheat via satellite or web? Then OM s/off, and 1527-1531* Antártida song. No more mod, but back to Bsla #2 SDR off-tuned to 15475.0-USB, I can tell the reduced carrier stays on, JBA fading in and out making tone just less than 1000 Hz, and *still* on when SDR times out after 60 minutes at 1632, and I`ve had more than enough. Maybe they leave it on to keep the room warmer? Or electrical fluid is cheap? Hardly, nor maybe the Diesel to generate it. Often after ``s/off`` they continue with more programming but not today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 WOOB jammer survey July 7 at 1346: 13130 Chinese S2-S5; 13020 JBA; 12880 Chinese S2-S5; 12795 Chinese S3-S6; 12500 JBA carrier; 13530 JBA. I continue to be amazed that certain reporters keep claiming they are hearing Sound of Hope, blissfully ignorant of the much more likely jammers; and editors don`t correct/challenge (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. During Es opening hour July 7 at 17-18 UT, on caradio, see USA, I have to contend with nearby spoilers fading in and out, but FWIW some log info on them: 99.5, July 7 at 1726, ``Big Country 99.5`` = KXBL Henryetta. 99.3, July 7 at 1727 ``radio special`` food ad; probably 3 kW KLOR-FM Ponca City. 97.5, July 7 at 1732, sex counseling ad, ziprecruiter.com/radio; 1734 about recount so AZ maybe? but sports news mentions OU [why isn`t it UO = University of Oklahoma?]; 1735 possibly different station, rather clear ID as KFOD, but nonesuch even fuzzily rhyming, nor as AM call translated to FM; must have been merely KMOD Tulsa, tho not sports format. 104.5, July 7 at 1740, song with audio cutting out. Must be KZZW Mooreland = Woodward ``market`` if you can call such small towns that. No one at station paying attention? Woodward-Mooreland has a lot of FM stations for its size, due to isolation: 16 of them, 10 of which are full-power. 2010 population of Woodward was 12K; entire county was only 20K. It`s 136 km = 85 miles from the nearest metropolis, Enid with more than 4X the population; but 12 FM stations, only 4 of which are full power and one of those, 96.9 really funxions as an OKC station (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7730, July 7 at 0538 UT, WRMI with trace of JBM on S9+20/30 signal while TOMBS is blasting in on 7570, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2093 monitoring: did anyone hear the Wed 1030 on WRMI 5850? Confirmed Wed July 7 at 2100:21 on WBCQ 7490 minus 83 Hz per Maryland SDR = 7489.917, S7-S9. But NOT confirmed at same time on WRMI 7780 which is NOT on the air! Still off circa 2340; Okeechobee did not seem to be too close to the Elsa storm track. Next, and last: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: no new thanks this week for a MO or check in US funds on a US bank, to: Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com. New WOR 2094 should be ready for download by early UT July 9 and first SW airings Friday at 0130 on WRMI 5850 & if on air then, 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5010, July 7 at 1116, JBA here and not 5015, presume WRMI back on non-wrong frequency, as reported by Ivo 23 hours before. Still no reply from Jeff about this; usually when he does not reply to a direct inquiry it means there is something negative he would rather not discuss (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also SOUTH CAROLINA [non] ** U S A. 15825, July 7 at 1351, WWCR-1 is Just Barely Modulated, or to be charitable, very undermodulated. I have no way of quantifying such judgments. Have to turn volume way up (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Sporadic E patch MUF 94 MHz over New Mexico, so looks promising for westward DX; on caradio in garage I start at 1707 UT July 7: 87.75, July 7 at 1707, first thing tuned is Spanish! Slightly better on 87.7 than 87.9; likely a FrankenFM, which will have to drop dead on July 13 when everything has to be DTV, with a few exceptions such as remote Alaska. Two women conversing, first about TicToc; 1712 about Puerto de Veracruz, so could it be a lingering full-power analog Mexican TV channel 6? Probably not: is religious plugging a `conexión de verano con Jesús`` el 11 de julio; 1715 fading in and out. Mentions guadaluperadio.com and program is `Mujeres de Fe`. Then I`m scanning upband; by 1728, 87.7 is fading, gone by 1737 and not much more in the next semihour. Uplooked later in the WTFDA FM Database, only hitfit is: ``KSFV-LP 87.7 SAN FERNANDO VALLEY CA Spanish RELIGIOUS GUADALUPE RADIO 3.0 kW horiz. only, 0.0 meters HAAT! 34-12-46 118-03-42 A41F`` 1876 km = 1166 st mi city to city per distancefromto.net 94.1, July 7 at 1710, something in English trying to get past 94.3. 93.1, July 7 at 1717 CCI to KS in English, 1718 MontsterMedia.com of Yuma = https://www.monstermediayuma.com/ so it is no doubt: ``KLJZ 93.1 YUMA AZ HOT AC Z-93 TODAY'S BEST MUSIC 100.0 kW H&V only 25.0m HAAT 32-39-06 114-39-04 2E0F`` 1584 km = 984 statute miles. Also ads for casino, summer splash at San Luis AZ; CCI: 93.1, July 7 at 1720, ``93-1 The Mountain, Valley traffic`` on Las Vegas Blvd. I bet it`s the one in NV: ``KYMT 93.1 LAS VEGAS NV HD ROCK 93.1 THE MOUNTAIN 23.5 kW H&V 1183.0 m HAAT 35-57-55 115-30-00 18CF 93-1 The Mountain World Class Rock Adult Hits`` 1545 km = 960 stmi. Site is SW of LV closer to the CA border where there are a couple of mountains higher than that. 97.3, July 7 at 1722 strong briefly, national ads getroman.com, GEICO, get a 97.3 app, 1725 sports talk about CBS, probably this: ``KWFN 97.3 SAN DIEGO CA HD SPORTS 97.3 THE FAN 50.0 kW H&V 134.0 m HAAT 32-43-13 117-04-14 4AA7 97.3 The Fan The FAN, San Diego's Only FM Sports Station Sports`` It also has a bunch of co-channel boosters under 100 watts elsewhere in southern California. SD = 1810 km 1024 mi 99.5, July 7 at 1753, ``Real Country`` slogan. No exact hits on that in WTFDA but Google search on slogan and MHz leads to KXPL Las Cruces NM whose main brand is Zia Country; but that`s a bit too close, 934 km = 580 stmi; and to KHAZ Hays KS, more likely fringe scatter signal, 304 km = 189 stmi. Some others seem Okie spoilers, q.v. The special was supposed to be on both 7490 & 6160. Then I bring up the Maryland SDR to find that 6160 is not even on the air, but it`s getting 7490. Classaxe.com shows respective periods are 6.27 and 7.41 seconds. Harvs is a strange name, and not even in my large scale Rand McNally atlas, but distancefromto.net locates it not near Newton at all, but NW of Lyons and ENE of Great Bend. Some more CW followed I did not copy, and I thought it was KM4NB/B, missing a B, and about 28206.1, but listed as such by WJ5O at qsl.net: ``28.2063 KM4NBB C MURRARYVILLE [sic], GEORGIA # 5W, VERTICAL New 19 September 2020`` - and his page at QRZ.com says: ``KM4NBB USA flag USA, William E Stephens, Murrayville, GA 30564 USA 10 Meter Beacon 28.206300 MHZ Grid Square: EM84BM - If you hear this beacon, please email QSL to the address below Email: william@williamestephens.com Thank you`` There was also some Spanish phone USB QRM this low in the 10m band. More strikeouts seeking sporadic E FM DX 88+ MHz, but MUF at least up to 28+. Another relogged many times: 28281.2-CW, July 6 at 0057 UT, DE W8EH, i.e.: ``28.281 W8EH C MIDDLETOWN OHIO # 8W, GP VERTICAL`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2093 monitoring: confirmed Sunday July 4 from 2000:44 UT on IRRS via Italia AM, 918 kHz, Villa Estense, good but French?Kriyol? occasional QRM, perhaps overload in Noale SDR. Also confirmed Sun July 4 at 2200 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 minus 100 Hz = 6159.900 kHz, per Maryland remote in SAM mode, S7-S9. (The other WBCQ with `UBMP` on 7490 minus 102 Hz = 7488.898 kHz.) Also confirmed Sun July 4 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9 over Cuban pulse jamming into Maryland SDR; S1-S2 into Brasília #2 SDR, even tho it`s aimed thataway. Also confirmed UT Monday July 5 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct. Also confirmed UT Mon July 5 at 0130 on WRN webcast to N America. Also confirmed UT Mon July 5 at 0244 the 0230 on WRMIs, 5800 S6-S9, 7780 S7-S9 direct. Next: 1330 UT Tuesday WRMI 15770 to NE [NEW] 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: no new thanks this week for a MO or check in US funds on a US bank, to: Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9395, July 5 at 0205 tune-in to WRMI for Texas R SW 4th of July special - patriotic speech by YL in progress, not music yet; illegible notes; 0213 Ray Charles: America the Beautiful; 0222 QSL offer in OM voice and intro next tune, Springsteen: Born in the USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9330, July 6 at 0124 still no signal from 500 kW WLCR via WBCQ, and I guess there will not be for a while. Update on this via Mike Terry: ``[WOR] WBCQ "Big Tube" a write-off --- Allan Weiner @AllanWBCQ · 4h Trials and tribulations. Searching for a TH576 tube, or equivalent, to get the mighty 9330 back on the air. Classic WBCQ still going strong on 7490/6160/3265 khz. The free speech goes on!! The big tube went to air while on the air. All burnt up and not rebuildable. Sad $ 200k loss. (Twitter 5 July 2021)`` Well, isn`t the thing insured or under warranty? Anyhow, out of pocket of the wacko Egyptian billionaire (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1360, UT Mon July 5 at 0022, I`m tuned to the KiwiSDR in Philadelphia for the publicized 4th of July special DX test from WNJC, Washington Twp - of several in NJ, the one near Camden and hence Philly. I`m hearing a tone at S5-S6; 0023 singing jingle ID ``WNJC 13-60``; Star-Spangled Banner in Jimi Hendrix style, but not quite? Mixing in a few notes of Taps; then VVV VVV VVV DE WNJC in Morse code - not CW but tones on AM carrier. WNJC calls repeated over and over, I lost count after eleven, maybe for a minute; 0028.5 sweep tones upward. I had no chance of getting it direct, but wanted to hear and confirm what was going out. Despite proximity, hardly a local-quality signal, altho it was dominant on frequency. Night and day coverage maps at radio-locator.com imply the low-power night pattern axually has a better lobe into Phila. than the higher-power day pattern. Strangely enough, 24 hours later, I have seen zero reports of this on the NRC or IRCA lists; maybe I should tell them that at least I for one heard it, albeit remotely (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, July 6 at 0117, WTWW-2 with Ted saying he`s about to play a 4th of July special of patriotic American music, recorded last night, which failed to air ``because a cow stepped on a cable``. Very distorted modulation tho and I shan`t listen. The carrier is also jittering slightly, checked with BFO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7505, July 6 at 0122, WRNO is AWOL again. Usually was quite strong lately when active (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5179-USB, July 6 at 0119, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, one quite strong S7-S9 with ``engine noise``, mentioning quantities of something measured in ``kilos``; which is nonsensical; kilowatts, kilojoules, kilogallons, kilograms, kilomiles?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 24000-27000 kHz, July 6 at 0104-0107, complete bandscan for anything interesting as sporadic E is bouncing in CB 27+ MHz and some 28+ MHz beacons. Still no broadcast auxiliaries, but some 2-way: 26315.1-AM, July 6 at 0104, contact maybe offset on 26314.7-AM. 26565.3-AM, July 6 at 0105, very strong signal just as it goes off 26583.4-AM, July 6 at 0106, Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0442 UT July 6 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
