** BOTSWANA. 15579.990+, Sat July 6 at 1550, `Music Time in Africa` on
VOA, the 1505 airing, S9+10/20 into UTwente. One semihour earlier, NO
signal direct, not even JBA carrier. Propagation really degraded;
presumably still operating this site, but VOA long ago dispensed with
any on-air specific site IDs. Casual listener would think they all
come from ``Washington, DC``. Note the offset of this transmitter now,

S7/S9 direct and steady not usual wobble. 0700 ID and `The Old Rugged
Cross` introducing another g.h. Had not noticed them on so late, but
bimonth-old program sked shows until 0700 on Sat & Sun only, otherwise
-0600*. But now it continues past 0700. And why would they sign-off
the stream earlier? I don`t think before or after 0700 it were really
TOMBS.

nuggets: there are none except SW Radiogram, and a few titles looking

BTW, Aoki still shows numerous DRM stretches on WINB from 7330 to
15750, which were canceled months ago! It was never clear what
programming? was behind that. It was odd DRM, half audio, half data?

hardly any other 19mb signals except 15770 WRMI. Note: this relay is
rumored to be among those heading for major downsizing if not total
closure. Current sked per EiBi is 0500-0700, 1430-1630(1730 SaSu),
1730-2200. Tho aimed at E Africa, it`s our best chance to hear VOA
English much of these times. If we stop hearing it, that could be a
clue; if we still hear 15580, it still could have been transferred to

** U S A. Pre-`AAAWWW` check of WBCQs, July 5 at 2343 into NH SDR:
7490 -67 Hz = 7489.933 S7/9+15 FKB; 6160 -69 Hz = 6159.931 S9/+10
TOMBS; 5130 -69 Hz = 5129.931 S6/9+5 music, switching to FKB // 7490
at 2347; 3265 OFF.

Note how closely the offsets-minus match. Suspect their
frequency-display is miscalibrated and may well believe they are on
.000! I keep listening to 5129.931: at 2359 one-minute-warning tone to
FKB, so he quickly wraps up to an amen. Pause, and Allan on live, then
plays `WTO` theme, interjecting ``76`` at the music-pause-point. 4th
of July was yesterday so this is another live one. Brings up Angela on
phone. 0005 she has to explain Canada Day. But I`m more interested in
Pres. Biden`s interview on ABC TV. Back to BCQ at 0032 to find that
3265.163 is also on, S7/9+10. Yes, at 0042 says trimulcasting. Says he
has been working on rebuilding the old 50 kW Collins transmitter now
running on 5130, which is entirely available for lease. E-mail last
few minutes and prayer, turns it over to her for final legal ID but
her phonevoice breaks up, 0100 Hal Turner. At 0138 I recheck NH when

So the return to one airing on SW has been short-lived: was Sunday
0930 UT on 9510. The Fri 2030 UT should continue to present the first
airing of each WOR, not the last. That, Sat and and Sun are unchanged,
but Tuesday is new.

WRMI is still on air contrary to websked - not RFI in Spanish as
previously heard, but music only, fill? First, sort of ``island``
music, then ``HOA``. 0700 no ID break, but still immediately into
Polish Radio External Service, via WRN, in English. Also light pulse
jamming audible direct. The Cuban commies have no love lost for
countries which overthrew the yoke of Soviet oppression. Also too

5010 WRMI at 0700 July 3 is also still on air as uncheduled. Next
check at 1508, 9955 is still on air JBA, yet another anomaly (Glenn

** U S A. 5890, Wed July 3 at 0703, WWCR-4 is on with gospel music,
huge dirty signal of S9+45/50. Is it TOMBS? Not // 5850 WRMI. Sked
updated as of July 1, still claims 5890 is OFF M-F at 05-12, while
nothing but TOMBS on weekends. Of course this also activates the
leapfrog mixing product on 5980 whenever both 5890 and 5935 are on the
air, another 45 kHz beyond. But we don`t hear any reverse on 5845
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. DXMAP shows Es paths between OK and California, so I go
hunting on caradio, July 3 at 1958 UT. Instead, tropo boosts are up
from Tulsa, Wichita areas while OKC signals are diminished, and I
identify no Es.

is just NE of Wichita, with much LESS power, and tower, slogan a Big
Lie:

93.3 circa 2040, 100 kW OKC station KJKE Newcastle ``Jake FM`` with
constant CCI, at 2049 maybe mentions Kansas, in weather? But the only
KS on 93.3 are two translators in far Manhattan and Liberal. And the
only other OKies are 7 translators or LP. What could this be? Seems
too  constant and weak to be Es.

92.7 at 2049, ``The Pulse,`` Kansas lottery. Must be this, but slogan
change, or just a fleeting program reference?
