KGEN 1370 Tulare, CA Logged In Alaska! |
|
Tuesday, January 26 2021
I forgot to share this one when it happened almost 2 weeks ago. I started hearing spanish begin to bubble up on 1370, so I fine tuned my 5" DeBock FSL loop and hit record and boy, did I get lucky!
About 8 seconds into the recording, you hear a simple "La Ley" between songs. I recognized that slogan and that voice.. it's KGEN 1370 Tulare, CA. I have previously heard KGEN's 72 watt night power from Laramie, WY. I'd also logged KGEN's simulcast sister station, KGEN 94.5 Hanford, CA a 6KW Class A Equivalent in Wyoming I asked KGEN Engineer Tom Driggers to confirm KGEN was operating with it's licensed 72 Watts at night, and he confirmed that the remote control was powering down KGEN's transmitter properly. My KGEN Reception occurred on Tuesday January 12th at 745pm AK Time (1hr behind pacific). Here's my KGEN audio: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ypilSLoPh9xbBHNQvyPJ9FG0kipgi_Ye/view?usp=sharing Several minutes later, I had "La Caliente", KZSF San Jose. In the dj chatter he even mentioned La Caliented, as I recall.. so there's no mistaking the two. Here's my audio of KZSF: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l4_fhX1pnH-uuUVo99-txXPMh8g8hyGQ/view?usp=sharing KZSF 1370 shares a triplexed site with KSJX 1500, which I've logged here in Alaska regularly. Also sharing that site is KLOK 1170 which I logged from Wyoming. An engineer who worked on that site said it smells like waffles with the Eggo factory sharing a parking lot Paul Walker _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs January 24-25, 2021 |

Monday, January 25 2021
** BRAZIL. 11905-11910-11915, Jan 25 at 0445, checking RNA DRM into TWR Bonaire SDR: ``Madrugada Nacional 96.1`` ID and romantic music, partly in English, ``Kiss Me, Baby`` at 0454. Frequent ID breaks between tunes. SN 16.7 dB, 12.46 kbps with ``perfect`` reception tho fi not so hi; also with Service 2 Journaline one-line headline rotation mostly concerning COVID; but no mentions of Bolsonaro (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13841 approx., Jan 25 around 1500 --- my logpen failed to ink at first --- F# tone signature of RHC spurblob, too close to the BS on 13845-AM WWCR; then finding lots of others, back to ``normal`` pattern of circa plus/minus 69 kHz multiples from 13700-AM: 13769 S8, 13631, 13562, 13494 S4 vs CODAR, 13426 trace; 13908, 13976; and 14045 F# trace. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Jan 25 at 0006, VP S3-S4 of dense low music. Mushy reduced carrier? These logs say it`s Mushroom Radio: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,77218.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring: confirmed Sunday January 24 from 2300:05 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6159.934, S8-S9; ending at 2329:05 barely not cut off. Stood by earlier to hear carrier with WBCQ IS & ID loop cut on at *2256:08, no ID or s/on but a bit of music from 2259:45 before WOR start. Also confirmed UT Monday January 25 at 0043 the 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG S9+30/40 direct. Also confirmed UT Monday January 25 at 0230 on WRMIs: 7780, S9+5/15 via UTwente; 5800, S9+10/25 via Bonaire SDR; and WRN web/satcast Also confirmed Monday January 25 from 1900:49 on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria, via UTwente SDR usual bilateral splasheral from 7280 Vietnam and 7295 East Turkistan, standard denunciation, inevitable but WOR still readable if you upput. 29 minutes later ending with pause rather than upcut before ID and more FSN. For timings this time also via UTwente, as Alan Gale suggested, I compare with MSF on 60 kHz and DCF77 on 77.5, with a clearer minute-marker on the former, hardly any internet delay compared to WWV direct. Next: 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to anonymous, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``My usual anonymous seasonal donation to your always informative broadcast!`` One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VENEZUELA. 6200+RCUSB, Jan 25 at 0433 tune-in via Bonaire KiwiSDR, immediate ID as ``ROCV en 6200 kHz``, back to tropical music. SAM mode shows carrier frequency slightly fluxuating plus 4-6 Hz, S5-S7 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 2157 UT January 25 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs January 24, 2021 |

Sunday, January 24 2021
** CHINA. 13530, Jan 24 at 1458, JBA fluttery carrier until 1500*, no doubt CNR1 jammer against SOH starting to repropagate; but none heard just above or below 13000 yet; however, a weak open carrier at 13001 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 13766 approx., Jan 24 at 1453, RHC with Marta Rios about propagation, so `En Contacto` reading Arnie script must be running late beyond 1450`s `En Compañía del Doctor`. Anyhow, 13700-AM is putting out lots of spurblobs but not in the usual pattern. For a change there are no F# tones with them! Rather low-pitched hums, best audible in FM mode, not AM. They are quite diffuse and harder than usual to guess a center frequency. First one is +66 kHz, paired with -63 kHz circa 13637, but there are others at mid-intervals: 13668 with no mod, 13605 vs residual jamming, 13576; 13729, 13795, 13828, 13887, 13949. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KOREA SOUTH. 1566, Jan 24 at 1342, awake just in time to check on the longwire, JBA carrier surely from FEBC, and at 1344 near-imagination-level 3+1 timepips as definitely heard before when their antenna is switching from N Korea to China heading. Of course I could easily confirm this via remotes, if I were ever up and running computer by now. The winter window for direct reception is steadily closing, as our sunrise earlies, 1338 today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TIBET [non]. 12125, Jan 24 at 1544, JBA tonal talk at S9; strixe me as an unusual frequency, but now Aoki-scheduled this hour only as CNR1 jammer and/or RFA Tibetan via TINIAN, NMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 4724-USB, Jan 24 at 0730, US military crypto message with always self-imposed heavy reverb/echo; also with continuous whine/siren noise, pitch varying very slightly; message header repeated several times fonetikaly: VOFJ3G; brief ``stand by``s and transmission breaks. Usually IDs as ``Andrews``, I think, but not positive I heard that this time. Or is it a different tactical ID each time? See a previous report: ``4724-USB // 8992-USB, Feb 9 at 0041, US military crypto alfanumeric fonetik string with usual reverb and clix between characters. EiBi calls these ``US Air Force Messages``, on six frequencies all available 24 hours, the others being 6739, 11175, 13200 and 15016. But where are they, really? And are they significant or mere exercise? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2070 monitoring: Larry Will posted to WOR iog at 0600 UT Jan 24: ``1/24, 0555, 6160am. World of Radio 2070, impromptu broadcast, s15/s20, very good here in Maryland.`` Tnx; yes, on WBCQ A51 webcast, but unheard on KB0FX SDR in MO, nor on Alexandria VA SDR close to Larry --- JBA carrier of something at best by the time I check it at 0609 midpoint of WOR; maybe not on air by then? Next: 2300vUT Sunday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW 0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 to NE, 5800 to SSE 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Bulgaria to WNW, 594-Italy 1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW 2300 UT Wednesday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: thanks this week to anonymous, for a contribution via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com and commenting: ``My usual anonymous seasonal donation to your always informative broadcast!`` One may also contribute by MO or check in US$ on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 5750, Jan 24 at 0735, JBA carrier: best guess: a rare leapfrog mixing product of WRMI 5950 over 5850 another 100 kHz beyond, both with Brother HyStairical (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1917 UT January 24 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
