Logs
** CUBA. 15140, Jan 17 at 2028, no signal from RHC during first
English hour, as has now been missing for months. Something`s very
wrong at RHC; but an opportunity for The Other Side:

``DDC Today: Cuba as a Gateway for Russian Cyberespionage in Latin
America --- READ TODAY THE CUBA OF TOMORROW January 14, 2025

There is an aspect of the agreements reached between Havana and Moscow
that goes unnoticed: technological penetration through digitization.
JOSÉ LUIS REYES | Madrid

Miguel Díaz-Canel visits the pavilion of the Cuban-Russian firm
Voltah-Aicros at FIHAV 2024. (Aicros/X) [caption]

Among the numerous agreements, deals and collaboration agreements
between Moscow and Havana that have been announced in recent years,
the energy, metallurgy, transport and tourism sectors stand out. But
one area is barely mentioned: the penetration of Russian computer
companies on the island.

Computer development firms, especially cybersecurity ones in Russia,
have begun, discreetly, to set their sights on Cuba with two purposes,
according to their own statements: to export software and applications
to implement their technologies in new markets, displacing those of
the West; and seeking to reach Latin American countries to which they
have little access...``

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9440, Jan 17 at 2116, R. Cairo English sesquihour still
missing, not even a totally distorted signal into UTwente (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1640 kHz, Jan 17 at 0655 UT, KZLS Enid back to dead air
on an S9+43 steady signal like 10 kW daypower. Still/again dead at
1640 UT check. Jan 16 at 1646 I had heard it modulating again and
assumed its long silence were over. Altho I never heard anything but
dead air in random chex for a week, I can`t be positive it never
modulated; looks like it`s off and on, for who knows how long (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1670 kHz, Jan 17 circa 2230 UT, Virtual DJ Radio relay
still going in Enid, best near S Van Buren & W Owen K Garriott
intersexion. Isn`t this being aired anywhere else on local low-power
AM or FM? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 95.1, Jan 17 circa 2230 UT, OG&E Tree of Lights Xmas
transmitter still on, dead air in $ tereo, from downtown Enid (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

exercise by US military: starts with CBIA4... and ``This is Drag-race,
out`` to 0702.6* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VATICAN [non]. 15565, Jan 17 at 1530, Vatican Radio signing on in
Amharic, mentioning Facebook etc., S9+5/15 the SSOB exceeding 15770
WRMI, and very little else on almost vacant band. I assumed this would
be via MADAGASCAR, coincidentally aimed thisaway, but HFCC, EiBi and
Aoki all show this and all 15565 VR broadcasts are direct from SMG. Of
course, we have long suspected something strange with their own
antenna, no suppression of back-radiation, or even reversed azimuth!
15565 continues until 1830 with azimuth adjustments depending on
language, 135 degrees to SE for Amharic, i.e. 315 degrees NW backwards
USward (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Friday, January 17 2025

Logs
** OKLAHOMA. 1640 kHz, Jan 16 at 1646 UT, KZLS Enid is finally
modulating again after a full week of dead air, first noted Jan 9 at
0755. Back to stupid sportstalk, running 2 seconds behind // sibling
station 1390 KCRC. I guess by leaving the carrier on, it would not
count as being ``off`` per FCC regs? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WORLD OF
RADIO 2278)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9930, Jan 16 at 1645, WTWW is running 13
seconds behind // 9980 WWCR with TOMBS. Both extremely strong signals,
from almost the same location, what a duplicative waste. But far be it
from me to advise them how to allocate resources more effectively!
Anyhow, kudos to WWCR for getting TOMBS on the air first! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs January 15, 2025  View Printable Version
Thursday, January 16 2025

Logs
** OKLAHOMA. 1640 kHz, Jan 15 at 2019 UT, KZLS Enid STILL dead air.
The least they could do would be continuous Morse code IDs, worldwide
multi-week DX test! (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** U S A. 365 MCW kHz, Jan 15 at 0731 UT, AA, 100-watt ND beacon at
Fargo ND, axually across in MN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2277 monitoring: ``From: Richard
Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, the desk of Richard’s listening
Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, antenna: random long wires in the trees,
WRMI, USA, World of Radio #2277, 9395 kHz, 0031, 0044, 0057, 0058
(4-55433), 0059, January 15 UTC 2025 (Lemke, Richard -AB)``

Confirmed UT Wednesday January 15 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 into
Peoria SDR. As always the preceding program, `Midnight Cry Ministry`
is chopped for WRMI ID just as attempting to utter website.

Also confirmed UT Wednesday January 15 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.003+, S7/S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday January 15 at 2030 on SW Radio, Germany,
3975.002-, s7/S8 and noisy into UTwente.

Also confirmed Wednesday January 15 at 2226 the 2200 on WBCQ 7490-,
JBA direct, sounds like me but can`t be sure it`s current episode,
altho probably. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975.

Thanks this week for a very generous contribution via PayPal in US
funds but not necessarily, to woradio at yahoo.com, from Peter
Robinson, Preston UK, and says, ``All the best for the New Year,
73's to all DXers, especially British DX Club.``

One may also contribute by money order or check on a US bank to:
Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 590, Jan 15 at 0733 UT, `Newsradio KLBJ`` promos, no mention
of AM or FM frequency. NRC AM Log shows translator on 99.7. Is U2 5/1
kW. Night pattern with notch to the north from Austin, protecting
Omaha, which is normally dominant here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1020 kHz, Jan 15 at 0744 UT, ``100.1 FM and 1020, KDKA`` -
yes, 100.1 is a mere translator, but gets top billing at this heritage
AM station in Pittsburgh PA. Here, gets plently blockage by KOKP Perry
OK, where was it? and 50/50 kW KCKN Roswell NM, RVC in Spanish. But it
has a long-standing STA for ``U4 30000/50000, night pattern 24 hours
(expires 2025-06-28)`` per NRC DXtra. That doesn`t quite make sense,
but radio-locator shows night pattern major lobes to NW and S, pulled
in toward us and KDKA but not a deep notch. Daytime pattern quite
similar (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
