You'd be surprised how far an NDB signal can go, especially at night, and
especially when running 1 KW. And with a weak signal on the product
frequency,
it's quite possible.
Mixing products from NDBs have been heard on 160 meters 1,000 miles away
from the NDB, mixing with a BC station hundreds of miles away. OTOH, 3rd harmonics are certainly possible. NDB transmitters are both
unmanned
