Sunday, January 05 2020
Original post not showing up right away maybe due to the QSL jpg attachment. So I take this opportunity to resend without it, and also correct the year on the subject!
** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, Sat Jan 4 at 2039, not R. Tirana via WRMI as expected but music and Pastor Ray, Light of the Word, referencing John XVII: 37-38. Altho Tirana is 6 days a week, WRMI skedgrid does now show it at 2030 M-F only with this bumper on Saturday. The Sat edition should still go out at 0230 UT Sun on 9395 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ALGERIA. 891, Jan 5 at 0649, woman in Arabic; best heard yet, the reactivated Ouled Fayet 600 kW transmitter of RA-1 near Algiers. Wolfgang Bueschel thinx these superpowers are running about half to save costs. Mostly separable from WLS by USB tuning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CHINA [non]. 13685, Jan 5 at 1507, CRI English W&M chat, via MALI, S3-S5 yet louder than // 15700 via CUBA, S9 but JBM. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, Jan 5 at 0708, R. Rebelde is S9+40 but suptorted and splattering out to plus/minus 15 kHz. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 15140, Jan 5 at 1608, RHC in Esperanto, overmodulated, extra frequency while 11760 original channel is AWOL. Did not hear what imaginary frequencies may have been announced at outset (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11530, Jan 5 at 1512, two stations mixing with flutter, long/short path echo. Evidently TURKET is again jamming Dengê Welat via FRANCE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MOROCCO. 595.9, Jan 5 at 0651, JBA carrier, way off-frequency from 594 as I bandscan. Exactly the same offset as in previous log; have been alert for this since but not caught again until now: ``595.9, Oct 25 at 0608, JBA carrier. Before a bandscan, I check for this first, as the low-power 50 kW Oujda transmitter of SNRT has been reported by Chris McWhinnie and Alan Pennington of the British DX Club, further off-frequency than usual 595 instead of 594, and there it is! Wolfgang Bueschel precisioned it at 595.896`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 4080-USB, Jan 5 at 0129, Texas Radio Shortwave found here, already music at tune-in for publicized 0130 broadcast. My reception report to pirate Texas Radio Shortwave: ``Dear TSWR: Thanks for the invitation. I did catch your broadcast tonight, and here is my report for QSL. This is before I have read what anyone else may have said about it on HF Underground. Receiver: R75 Antenna: longwire 100 feet east-west, probably not ideal if you are south of me Date: UT January 5 Steady S9 on generous meter with preamps, very little fading, but not enough to overcome noise level making copy difficult. SINPO: 35343 I can seldom make out details of announcements. Enjoyed the music, some of it familiar to me, but I can`t identify much of it by title, and I do not use apps to do that 0129, found signal on 4080-USB and tune in, already music. 0130, sound effects and announcements 0131, Texas Radio Shortwave ID; country/bluegrass song 0136:20, segue to another tune 0138:35, segue to another at first instrumental, then vocal. ``Black day in July`` sounded like a refrain, maybe title, over and over there may be more segues so smooth I do not note them 0151, segue, country tune 0155, another segue 0158, brief announcements 0201, longer announcement, ``free radio`` promo with reverb 0202, ad for ``radio communications magazine``; familiar blues tune 0215, unreadable announcement 0230, ID and ``In the Mood``, familiar 0248, still on 0256, ID and contact info by M & F voices, nothing further, apparently over and off Thanks for the show. Hope the report is of use to you and let us know about future broadcasts, hopefully with better reception. 73, Glenn Hauser`` Reply a few hours later: Ahoy Matey Glenn - Your report washed up on shore here at South Padre Island. Quartermaster compared it to ship's log and told Third Mate to send you this verification. Crew was excited to know you wrote in. Second Mate's the only crew member who can read, so he read what crew said we[re] the most complete reception report they'd ever heard. And crew's been around since the old, old days of pirate radio. Best wishes from Cap'n. Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate. 73 and Arrgghh. Texas Radio Shortwave https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw Sailing to your ears from the Lone Star State`` It`s an Alamo QSL --- and shows my location as Altus, Oklahoma; not sure where he got that, but maxe it even more unique. [attached] Many more logs here: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,62055.0.html (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6934.9-AM, Jan 5 at 0134, VP signal from unID pirate, maybe Captain Morgan SW, as heard Dec 21 on this off-frequency and IDed by others. Other unID logs as 6935 today at 0118: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,62054.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, KUCO Edmond/OKC, has had a lot of disruptions last few days. Jan 5 at 1455 UT, dead air; resumed by 1523. Because they are moving into brand-new studios in downtown OKC, distancing themselves from the UCO campus in Edmond. On Jan 2, were plugged into WCPE feed all day(?) instead of overnight only, such that could not insert StarDate at 1558 UT or 0058 UT. Other things I wanted to hear unavailable, such as Performance Oklahoma Sat at 14-16 UT, and Weekend Radio UT Sun at 04-05. However, they did get Metropolitan Opera on at 1700 Sat with Der Rosenkavalier, but that could have been via WCPE (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** SAO TOME E PRINCIPE. 13750, Sat Jan 4 at 2027, S9 open carrier, 2028 YDD VOA sign-on, 2030 into music and French DJ without introducing the program or language. At first I wondered if there had been a punch-up error confusing the digits of 17530 or 15730 at Grimesland --- but 13750 is axually scheduled from Pinheira at 2030-2100 Sat & Sun only, for some reason breaking in the middle of French which has just cut off 15730 daily (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 1521, Jan 4 at 2228, JBA carrier hetting KOKC OKC, presumed 2 megawatt Duba, and disappears sometime between 2230 and 2231 as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SCOTLAND [non]. 9350, Jan 4 at 2105-2200, `Encore` via WWCR, excellent this week with no cross-talk detected (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 774, Jan 5 at 0650, usual two carriers beating, 0653 Spanish talk from RNE1 synchros, headed by 100 kW València and seven others down to 10 kW. Does anyone know which be off-frequency? MWOffsets shows Valencia only 0.2 Hz low and no others more than 3 Hz minus. Iran and Egypt both have high-power 774s considerably off-frequency+plus, but would not expect them to be involved this late into their daytimes. Only other Europeans are very low powers in Italy and UK. 774 is the #1 audible TA frequency here; just as it is the #1 audible TP frequency later from Japan. Someone pointed out that around 0700 UT both of these could propagate midwinter to N America; not tonight when I also checked from the NW. Nor was there much from NHK an hour before sunrise (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 12030, 11940, 11685, Jan 5 at 1515, REE in descending order of audibility during stupid ballgame, and also a JBA carrier on 9690, the North American frequency which could be REE not really propagating yet? Or CRI Bengali. 1605 recheck, now an S8-S5 signal on 9690 but in Japanese! See TAIWAN (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TAIWAN. 9690, Jan 5 at 1605, still looking for SPAIN q.v. to North America; instead, talk in Japanese. HFCC shows an Encompass-brokered broadcast, 300 kW, 2 degrees from Taiwan; but what is it, really? NDXC/Aoki has the answer: Furusato no Kaze, clandestine about North Korean abduxions. Fortunately it`s only at 1600-1630, so Spain can still be clear afterwards if it ever resume (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 359 kHz, Jan 4 at 0714 UT, ND beacon SDR, 25 watts from Snyder TX, which is just NW of Sweetwater on the way to Lubbock (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2015 monitoring: Ivo Ivanov, Bulgaria reports: ``Reception of World of Radio#2015 via WRMI tx#09, January 4: 1300-1330 on 15770 RMI 100 kW / 044 deg to WeEu English Sat, good`` Confirmed here UT Sun Jan 5 at 0440, S9+30 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, about 19 minutes into so started circa 0421. Next: 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 9395 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 0930 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB [another episode] 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 0900 UT Wednesday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 [new January 1] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5085, Jan 5 at *0105, WTWW-2 cuts on air as I have been waiting for it, amid rock music, rather distorted but clears up a bit after a while. 0132 Ted with ham ads; by 0135, Bob Heil`s theater organ program has started and by 0204 recheck still has not finished. But I am mainly monitoring Texas Radio SW during the same semihour (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 9475, Jan 5 at 1505, SFAW WTWW-1 is unusually on but weaker than should be, S9-S4, PPPP about John The Baptist; may be more likely on during Sunday morning church-a-goin` time but not every week. Off already at 1936 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 12050, Jan 5 at 1514, now the day frequency of WEWN Spanish is dead air, S9-S6. Something`s always wrong at Vandiver? Recheck at 1940, now some weak modulation, can`t be sure if it be Spanish rather than Ndarason via Ascension, but there is some hum à la ASC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. Recalcitrant affiliates play old, older WRs Message sent to Robert Conrad of Weekend Radio at WCLV: ``Robert, What a mess just trying to hear Weekend Radio tonight --- Jan 4. KUCO is plugged into WCPE as they are temporarily unable to run normal schedule as they are just moving into their new studios in downtown OKC. Two other stations are known to webcast WR at the same time: 11 pm Eastern: WXXI Rochester is playing #205 from last week, which we have already heard. KTOO Juneau is playing #203 from mid-December! which we have already heard. I confirmed this by checking the content of your rundowns. WCLV I think did really play the new #206 an hour earlier. I would have normally listened then but there was another scheduling conflict so I depended on WXXI or KTOO to play it an hour later. That`ll teach me!!! Could you prevail upon those affiliates to run the current program on the current Weekend??!!
Now next weekend (or two or three?) we`ll have to fish around for 206 as well as 207 somewhere. Or maybe WUOT will be on the ball this Sunday afternoon? {Yes! at 18 UT, first of two all-request shows.} It would also be nice if one could just click on a podcast of whatever episode may have been missed for whatever reason. Regards, Glenn Hauser, Enid`` No reply yet; he may be on vacation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 693, Jan 5 at 0659, two JBA carriers beating. Major station is BBC Radio 5 Live, with multiple synchros; a few in Algeria and Spain no more than 20 kW. MWOffsets shows the Spaniards are more spread out than the Brits almost all spot-on (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 17495, Jan 5 at 1611, JBA carrier which would be the OSOB if this were inband except for 17830 JBAC Ascension. Nothing listed on 17495 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1957 UT January 5, 2020 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** AUSTRALIA. Re: [WOR] Australian Bushfires, Unique Radio
Hi Glenn, Thank you for your concern. Myself and my family are safe at present as the fires are not very close to where we are on the southern outskirts of Sydney. However, as we live in what is called the “ember zone”, close to a national park, we are being vigilant and have been since before Christmas. Concerns are for those affected by the catastrophic conditions that are due today (Saturday 4 Jan) in parts of NSW and Victoria and numerous other fires affecting others elsewhere. 41 degrees Celsius (106 degrees Fahrenheit) expected here today, with high speed winds due this evening. Judging by the NSW Rural Fire Service website, Unique Radio is not located close to fires at present. -- Regards, (BRIAN POWELL VK2FBAJ, Sydney, Australia, WOR iog) ** CHINA. 12360, Jan 4 at 0253, surprise bigsig S9+20 in Chinese. Really stands out as only signal above 11856.4 Brasil, and on 25mb nothing but two Brazilians and Cuba. Pays to perform full way-out-of-band scans. I`ve checked thoroly all the way from 10 to 15 MHz, and nothing but this. Is on the Aoki/NDXC list as a jammed Sound of Hope frequency, presumably with CNR1. Already off at 0257 recheck. Wish we could know what transmitter site achieve this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** COLOMBIA. 2940+, Jan 4 at 0232, no trace of HJNT, Radio Huellas, Cali, whose off-frequency second harmonic used to be obvious. I`ve been alert for it on frequent bandscans. They must have fixed it or be off the air from 1470 too. Last reported 30 Aug 2019 by Brett Saylor, PA on 2940.11. Per WRTH 2020, website is radiohuellascali.com and that linx to sked: https://www.sistemahuellasinternacional.com/show-schedule/ but it`s rather strange, partly in English and Latin! I think they have not fleshed it out completely; WRTH says 1100-0500 UT, but they have shows starting at midnight = 0500, can`t tell if run all night or not. Had been Colombia`s only [almost] SW station. Say, what about that new ``ethnic`` evangelical SW, supposed to start up last month/year in eastern Colombia? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 5025, Jan 4 at 0235, Radio Rebelde is suptorted, maybe in silly baseball game? I think there is crowd noise. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** EAST TURKISTAN. 7330, Jan 4 at 0245, W&M in Chinese, reading S9 but weak with flutter. Not a time I would expect to hear China, but probably from the west arriving from the east rather than vice versa, or close to polar where it`s mostly darky. Yes: Aoki/NDXC shows this hour is CRI via Kashgar, land of Uighur brainwashing by the ChiCom. Cuts off at 0300 after two pips of a timesignal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 6950-AM, Jan 4 at 0238, S9 signal but JBM with music and not // 1390 KCRC ESPN X 5. Also noted an hour earlier with even less signal, only sign of a pirate. Other logs as unID: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,62016.0.html Off by recheck 0302 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. Texas Radio Shortwave tells me: ``TRSW will broadcast volume 1 of Cap'n's favorite rock songs from the '60s and '70s sometime around 0130 UTC on Sunday, January 5. (That's Saturday night in Oklahoma.) The frequency will be in the range 4060 to 4085 kHz if propagation is good and 6875 to 6970 if it isn't.`` and invites me to try again with a detailed report for their coveted QSL (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2015 monitoring: confirmed Friday January 3 at 2300 on WRMI 9955, vs wall-of-noise jamming by Cuba, which does not abate by 2308; partially readable depending on fades. Also confirmed UT Sat Jan 4 at 0130 on WRMIs 5010 S9+10/20 good with no QRM or het yet from Madagascar, synchro with super-strong 5850; and on 7780 slightly out of synch from different playout, S9+10. 7780 had been carrying NY edition of Wavescan, fill with ME music, and Ian ID; 5850 & 5010 had Spanish robobibling interrupted for BB ID. Next: 1300 UT Saturday WRMI 15770 2030vUT Saturday WA0RCR 1860-AM 0400vUT Sunday WA0RCR 1860-AM [nominal 0415] 2130 UT Sunday WRMI 7780 0130 UT Monday WRMI 7780 0230 UT Monday WRMI 7780 9395 0400vUT Monday WBCQ 5130v Area 51 6160v? 0430 UT Monday WRMI 9955 0900 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 0930 UT Monday Unique Radio NSW 3210-USB [another episode] 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 0900 UT Wednesday Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB 2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 [new January 1] 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 7490.177, Jan 4 at 0051, I find WBCQ jumped?drifted? further off-frequency than usual during usual gospel huxter; and 5130 is off the air. 0100 starts `Allan Weiner Worldwide` but shortly becomes evident it`s a rerun, as he is talking about the Ampegon antenna under construxion, apparently from early August; so I bail out. And at 0114, John Carver says, ``Glenn, No signal on 5130 this evening and 7490 is in and out and not a great signal. It appears that tonight's show is a repeat from back when the superstation was being built as he's talking about assembling the crane to build the antenna and that it's the ten-month anniversary of his meeting Angela. John`` 5130, at 0236 Jan 4 now this WBCQ is on, S9/+10 and playing AWWW, the same or another repeat? If live it would have been at 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5970, Jan 4 at 0055, WEWN is S9-S8 of dead air in Spanish; latest problem with this transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1020, Jan 4 at 0339 UT, nulling KOKP I hear Jim Bohannon; which 1020 is he on? Station finder at http://www.jimbohannonshow.com/station-finder/ leads off with KVNT Anchorage AK, but not starting until 7 pm = 04 UT; and only one other, far more likely here, KDKA Pittsburgh PA, from 10 pm = 03 UT. He has quite a roster, but still not a single station in OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0620 UT January 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** AUSTRALIA. 5045-USB, Jan 3 at 0945, no signal from Unique Radio during WORLD OF RADIO time for first SW broadcast anywhere. Not that I was expecting to hear this low-power affiliate, but checked since I happened to awaken during. As I said on the WOR iogroup:
``We hope all our Oz members are OK despite the bushfires. Please check in here when you can. Here`s one recent map of the areas affected, but not sharp boundaries: https://www.newsweek.com/australia-wildfire-map-update-bushfires-sydney-new-south-wales-1480207#slideshow/1557316 It looks like Gunnedah, N of Sydney and just east of 150 longitude is not far from the area, extending inland from the NSW coast. That would affect Tim Gaynor and Unique Radio. No updates about the M/W/F schedule at https://www.uniqueradio.biz/ How is it, Tim?`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** AUSTRIA. Re my comments on the New Year concert from Vienna: looking again at a repeat, I do catch one quick closeup of one female player, but from the back and quickly pulling out. As for the scenes of Vienna, they were obviously recorded in the summer, a far cry from what it must be like now in the winter ORF do not want us to see (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** CHINA. 6870, Jan 3 at 1332, Chinese at S6-S8 on noisy conditions. Aoki shows one of countless CNR1 jamming frequencies against 24-hour Sound of Hope. I have just tuned up from the 6.2 MHz area without hearing any of that. 9200, Jan 3 at 1340, JBA talk instead of the open carrier used to park here; another listed CNR1/SOH frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA. 13560, Jan 2 at 1516, spurblob from RHC 13700 first encountered as I tune up the band, then: 13630 S9+10 with music better heard in AM than FM; 13700 fundamental S9+10; 13770 S9; 13840 S6; 13910 S4; 13980 & 13490 traces; all about 70 kHz intervals. I see on website http://stecklinecommunications.com/kgyn/ that 106.3 gets equal billing to 1210 but not top billing. That`s really a puny translator, K292HJ, 106.3 Liberal KS, unlikely to be very audible 36 miles away back in Guymon. On the WTFDA FM Database I see no FM for KGYN in Guymon itself or anywhere else. K292HJ is slightly north of the 37th parallel so really in Kansas --- like all the other Steckline properties except 1210, which is normally audible at night despite supposed to null toward WPHT which I managed to hear the night before at this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1640, Jan 3 at 1313-1317+ UT, KZLS ``Enid`` in dead air as frequently happens. Nulling it I can tell there are at least two other talk stations there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** PUERTO RICO. 391 kHz, Jan 2 at 0714 UT, ND beacon DDP, a new one, whence? Surprised to find it`s San Juan - Dorado, 1000 watts; my first from PR, and probably most distant at 3676 km = 2284 st mi. And I was tuned to 389-USB (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 17615+, Jan 2 at 1515, JBA carrier the OSOB, obviously the always off-frequency Riyadh; not a trace of 17775 KVOH this early, but heard later, q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Jan 2 at 2347 check, REE again AWOL to North America; not audible on 12030 either (Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO 2015, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Jan 2 at 2346, VOT has been on today, now wrapping up with erroneous English schedule claiming 9515 at 0300, which was A-19; and imaginary 0600 on 6165 --- hey, that imaginary broadcast would now be at 0700 UT (rather than 0400 Turktime).(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 12035, Jan 3 at 1356, VOT English to Europe and onward best heard in a long time, S9/+10 with several program segments: `Weekly announcements`, reading an article about Turkish involvement in Libya; 1400 song; 1405 `Turkey`s Tourist Attraxions` about Mardin, Anatolia; lite stray pulse jamming, from Cuba? 1418 new program `Turkey Building Bridges of Kindness(?)`` on TCCA, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency involving 170 countries; 1422 one news headline about assassinating the Iranian general; 1423 sign-off, brief IS and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 8152-USB, Jan 3 at 1343 KNC hosting a net inviting check-ins from anywhere; at 1345, KPK is heard in contact with Lady Sunscreen(?) with position co-ordinates; and it`s well past Xmas now. 8152 is supposed to be an afternoon frequency as previously logged, instead 8104 in the mornings per https://www.ssca.org/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=710182&module_id=283983 ``SSCA's Trans-Atlantic Cruisers' Net (SSCA TACN) is in operation during the traditional Trans-Atlantic crossing seasons of mid-April thru early July and mid-October thru Christmas. The primary participants are: Glenn Tuttle, Coastal Station KPK, Punta Gorda, FL Chris Parker, Coastal Station WCY, Lakeland, FL Jim West, Coastal Station KJM, Ellijay, GA Dick Giddings, Coastal Station, KNC, Dover, NC The morning SSCA HF Radio Service Net will remain with a start time of 1215 hrs UTC year round on frequency 8.104`` (Glenn Hauser, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 10051-USB, Jan 2 at 1855, Gander Radio VOLMET, but further chex for New York VOLMET on this and other formerly timeshared frequencies find nothing despite a report they had been heard again: at 1911 and 2040, 13270-USB open. At 0655 Jan 3, Gander on 6604-USB, 3485-USB and JBA on 10051-USB. All frequencies checked several other unlogged times with no sign of NY (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. At 2100 FYI, much weaker 5950 is running TOMBS (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2015) ** U S A [and non]. 17775, Jan 2 at 1853, KVOH gospel huxter in Spanish at S9+20, so it`s really on the air now; earlier at 1623 check not a trace of it while 17830 Ascension & 17880 Mali JBA carriers were the OSOB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 5970, Jan 3 at 0515, after missing a few nights, WEWN is back --- but with a slight problem: carrier modulated with Spanish cuts off the air 84 times a minute like clockwork. How do they do this? When on it reaches S9+10. Later at 0651 check it`s totally off. Other frequency 9385 in English only S4-S7 but continuous (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. 1090, Jan 3 at 0704 UT, dead air from KAAY Little Rock as often happens, during which I hear a Spanish infomercial without really trying, no doubt XEAU Monterrey; 0705 KAAY comes to life with gospel music. USB tuning avoids the 1089 het from UK (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1210, Jan 2 at 0659 UT, PSA for Goodwill Industries in NJ and Philadelphia so WPHT tho U1 50/50 kW, unusually dominating briefly over KGYN et al.; I often check around this hour whether daytimer WJNL MI still be cheating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Jan 3 at 0439-0457 finds a lot more than usual, including low-power frequencies, two carriers beating from deeper Europe: 531, 549+(2), 558(2), 576(2), 585, 594, 603(2), 612, 621(2), 639(2), 684+, 693*, 711(2), 729(2), 738, 747, 774**(2), 783, 837(2), 846(2), 855*(2), 864, 873, 882, 891**, 909*, 936(2), 954, 963 [both sides of local 960], 981, 999, 1026(2), 1053*, 1089, 1098(2), 1107(2), 1116, 1125, 1152, 1161, 1179, 1206, 1215(2), 1296(2), 1305(2), 1314, 1323, 1413(2), 1422, 1458(2), 1521, 1539, 1566, 1575. * are the stronger ones. ** the ones with some music modulation audible, surely Spain and Algeria (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 1710, Jan 3 at 0455-0505+ UT, techno(?) music with heavy regular beat slightly more than twice per second, and another carrier; no ID or break at ToH.
