Glenn Hauser logs December 19-20, 2019 |
|
Friday, December 20 2019
** ALGERIA. 891 kHz, Dec 19 at 0705 and still 0717, carrier hetting WLS 890. The RTA transmitter on 891 used to be our best Algerian signal into deep North America, but missing for years. Reports from Spain and elsewhere in Europe had just reported it reactivated first with 1 kHz tone tests, like recently on 576 kHz from another site. WRTH 2020 shows 891 as 600 kW, but half power at 1900-0600. Likewise half-power hours for 576 and 252 kHz; and none of them shown as having been inactive (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2013, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 7470, Dec 19 at 0344 tune-in, anti-Christ pirate, Station YHWH back on his old evening frequency, fair and recognizable, but with a medium SAH, which would be from Deewa Radio, via Lampertheim, Germany, scheduled 0100-0400. No SAH at 0402 check; 0425 recheck, in music, his theme tune, Days of Hard Life? Others call it creepy but I`ve not heard it straight thru; 0427 brief talk and off by 0428*. Had not heard him for a few days in the afternoon on 25mb where first noted reactivated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2013, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** TURKEY. 6125, Dec 19 at 0403, no signal from VOT English to W North America, just some residual Cuban pulse jamming despite Radio/TV Martí finishing at 0400. I leave receiver on with BFO until TRT carrier cuts on very late at *0416 over jamming; 0417;40 JIP modulation in song; S9+10/20 including the jamming. 0420 `Turkey Tourism` program about Anatolia. Something`s always wrong at Emirler. 5960, Dec 19 at 2336 check, no signal from VOT`s other broadcast to NAm. Something`s always wrong at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A [and non]. Not there either -- until 2325 check now 5800 is back on at S9+10 with the SM again promoting Buddhism. There was nothing in HFCC or on WRMI website about 9425, but Mike Terry found an FB post dated Dec 18 that they were experimenting with 9425 until further notice, at 2100-0200. I guess that notice already arrived (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2013, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report dispatched at 0540 UT December 20 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Glenn Hauser logs December 17-18-19, 2019 |

Thursday, December 19 2019
** BRAZIL. 6180, Dec 18 at 0009, RNA on again, in the clear before CRI/CUBA hits by 0100; slightly better than // 11780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 7850-CUSB, Dec 18 at 1924 and still at 0255 Dec 19, CHU back on this air! To stay this time? Last time I heard it was Nov 29 but only briefly, gone again. System status as of 0215 UT Dec 19 https://nrc.canada.ca/en/chu-short-wave-station/ shows 7850 back on air as of Dec 17 at 1430 but think we would have noticed it earlier if really on to stay by then (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CUBA. 6060, Dec 18 at *0000:24, RHC Spanish cuts on the air with frequency schedule, interrupted by modulation and/or carrier cutting off and on and off and on again; S9+30 when on. Something`s always wrong at RHC. So WRMI, q.v., could still safely use 6060 before 0000 as still claimed on its skedgrid, but now on 9425 instead (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** MALI. 13630, Dec 18 at 1856, S9+10/20 open carrier, 1900 sharp China-Plus sign-on in English, first news about Macau; also weaker // 11640 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** PERU. 5980, Dec 17 until 2354:46.5* approx., R. Chaski carrier cutoff under Cuban noise jamming despite no OCB; that would make it 2 seconds earlier than two nights ago, averaging only one per, so maybe in margin of error (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** SAUDI ARABIA. 15225, Dec 18 at 1515, ME music with flutter. Had not noticed this before next to RHC, but it`s SBC program 1 from 1500 per EiBi, from 1450 per Aoki/NDXC, from 1500 per HFCC, 500 kW, 295 degrees to NW Africa. JBA by 1549. Most of the daytime, 19m is a deadband except for Cuba and bits of the few US stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2012 monitoring: confirmed Wed Dec 18 from 2100:20 on WBCQ 7490.045v, soon remarking that 576 kHz Algeria is 600 kW, 30x the power of another FM station on AM, WSB with 50 kW; make that only 12x! It`s hard to imagine any American MW station running 600 kW. Also confirmed UT Thu Dec 19 at 0100 on WRMI 7780, VP S7-S9 in noise. First airings of WOR 2013 should be: Fri 0900 on Unique Radio NSW 5045-USB Fri 2300 on WRMI 9955 Sat 0130 on WRMI 5010 5850 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 9425, Dec 17 at 2302 & 2352, Dec 18 at 0002, SMTV on WWMI new frequency remains on the air as I first reported yesterday; but I`m out and don`t check whether it`s really the new RAE in Spanish frequency too after 0100 Dec 18. WRMI skedgrid late Dec 18 still shows no 9425! Just imaginary 6060 at 2100-2400 and 5800 at 0000-0200. 6060 BTW is neither occupied by RHC until *0000:24 Dec 18 cut on with frequency schedule. 9425, Dec 18 at 2157, SMTV is already on as expected, and in case there were any doubt, 2159.5 WRMI ID by Zanotti. 2351 SMTV still audible, but by 0128 Dec 19 recheck inaudible, apparently faded out like the other 9 MHz WRMI channels with K-index of 2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 4840, Dec 18 after 0700, dead air from this WWCR again, while 3215 and 5935 continue modulating their gospel huxters (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. Momentous day Dec 18 for impeaching acting president Drumpf, all-day coverage of House debate on major TV networx and cable news channels --- but it`s business as usual on radio. At 0017-0025 UT Dec 19 I scan the AM band twice for any // altho not synchronized, to live TV coverage, and find such ONLY on 1170 KFAQ Tulsa, and 1110 KFAB Omaha! The latter has cut away for ads at 0022, but resumes by 0028. Everything else is normal music, gospel-huxtering, sports or talk formats, even the all-news stations like WBBM 780. Most of those stations tilt far-right, but the event is rather important, with Republicans and Democrats evenly alternating their different-universe speeches. On FM it`s even worse, no one carrying it except KOSU from NPR. After 0100 shortly before the final voting on the Articles, I also check TV channels via cable, to find live coverage ONLY on: KFOR-4-NBC, KOCO-5-ABC, CSPAN-1, I24, CNN, MSNBC; Fox ``news`` shows Rep. Schiff summing up on split screen while an anchor talx over him; typical. KWTV-9-CBS did have all-day coverage, until 2330 UT when it was the only major network still doing evening news, altho mostly about Topic T (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. 1150, Dec 19 at 0023 UT, Mexmx roughly WSW-ENE with KSAL nulled; maybe per NRC AM Log, Albuquerque KNMM listed at 1500/105 watts in Spanish but format undefined beyond that. Or El Paso KHRO, 5000/380 Radio Ministar in Spanish but supposed to be religious (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. 1520.7, Dec 18 at 1913 UT, once again, weak but constant het upon 1520.00 KOKC OKC. Glad once before at midday I made sure that het was 1521.00 as in Sa`udi Arabia, but not this; again suspecting winter skywave from one of our closer 1520s, such as KRHW Sikeston MO in the southeast; others in IA and TN about the same distance. KRHW is supposed to have a null toward KOKC but we are slightly north of that (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report dispatched at 0310 UT December 19 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
