** ALBANIA [non]. Earthquake coverage: Unlike yesterday, 15770 WRMI relay of R Tirana at 2030 UT Nov 26 is a JBA carrier; NO carrier when checked via UTwente where it is aimed. 7780 is making it to UTwente with gospel huxter Biblebot, a more reasonable band to reach Europe after dark.
Listen ``live`` link here plays about the EQ, and presumably not live but the earlier English broadcast heard after 2100: http://rti.rtsh.al/category/english/news/ But it`s mainly historical info about previous quaxe, then music. Also a few brief stories about this to be read visually. (Meanwhile no big tremors around here today, but instead wildfires. KWTV has been covering live from Mooreland, near Woodward, west of Enid.) The webcast after IS at 2130 switches to Slavic language, Serbian? WRTH 2019 does not mention any but English, French, German, Italian, the ones on SW via WRMI, Kall. Altho mostly music, 2100-2130 was for English. Slavic goes to music at 2137. 9395, UT Wed Nov 27 at 0230, WRMI cuts from song fill to Radio Tirana IS which includes an editing overlap, and sign-on with no SW mentioned. Now it`s S9+10 with fades to S6. News about earthquake to 0236, then about organized crime; 0240 EQ statistics; 0249 songs (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CANADA. 7850-CUSB, Nov 26 at 2322, CHU is gone again from this frequency altho I had heard it reactivated at 1554 as in previous report. Meanwhile, Richard Langley, NB found no signal at 2200; likewise Mike Bott, OH at 2319; and Wolfgang Bueschel, Germany, at 0319 Nov 27 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CHINA. 11820, Nov 27 at 0045, nice SE Asian music, gamelan? a few announcements in Cantonese to 0057* cutoff; was S8 to S9+10. Best Asian signal on band, 500 kW, 200 degrees from Xi`an. See also THAILAND [and non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CUBA. 15370, Nov 26 at 2050, RHC in Kriyol! instead of scheduled Portuguese; and again at 2154 check, Kriyol! instead of Arabic. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 11880, Nov 26 at 2159, RHC IS and ID in Spanish about to open English but then dead air past 2201 except for some lite (self?)-pulse jamming. Something`s always wrong at RHC. 5040, Nov 27 at 0104, RHC suptorted and squealing with spurblobs 3 to 4 kHz on both sides. Language is Kriyol this time when it is supposed to be. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Wolfgang Bueschel agrees: ``CUBA 5040 RHC Bauta Spanish TOTALLY DISTORTED HISSING audio feed signal, 0346, S=9+15dB in C.C. Florida, 7.6 kHz wideband outlet tonight`` [gh deleted kHz after frequency and UT after time as obvious, redundant clutter to make wb`s post more readable to the wider WOR/DXLD audience] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** JAPAN [non?]. 9890, Nov 26 at 2228, NHK in Japanese inboooming at S9+20, incredible signal for transmission direct but off the back. Nevertheless, I suspected a European, African or even American relay, but TDOA by wb showed it really from Japan. Now I am comparing it to the other two listed Yamata frequencies on air at this time: 9560, 300 kW, 290 degrees, antenna 146, Mandarin to Korean at 2230 11910, 300 kW, 290 degrees, antenna 146, Japanese // 9890 9890, 300 kW, 235 degrees, antenna 208, Japanese // 11910 I do confirm that 11910 & 9890 are synchronized as if from same site. Yet both these are *much* weaker than 9890, S5-S7 JBA on 9560, despite same band with same propagation; and S7-S9 JBA on 11910, higher band expected to be weaker. Somewhat different azimuths away from us and 9890 is on a bigger curtain presumably with more gain forward, but backward? Enid is 44 degrees from Tokyo, path crossing Aleutians, Spokane/Kalispell, while directly off the back from 235 degrees would be 55. ITU explains the antennas this way: 146 AHR(S)2/2/0.5 208 AHR(S)4/2/1.0 ``Type 1: Multi band centre/end-fed curtain antenna arrays with aperiodic screen reflector Designation: AHR(S) m/n/h m : number of half-wave dipoles in each horizontal row n : number of rows spaced half a wavelength apart one above the other h : height above the ground in wavelengths of the bottom row of dipoles`` So are the azimuth and antenna type enough to explain this huge disparity in signals? Or maybe, just maybe, Yamata is aiming max lobe in the wrong, opposite direxion? I await some expert replies (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** PERU [and non]. 5980, Nov 26 at 2320, JBA carrier under Cuban wall-of-noise jamming against nothing, presumed Radio Chaski; from 2353 I`m back listening closely with BFO for the autocutoff and this time catch it without dozing off: 2355:27.5*. Now I have a baseline if I can catch it again, whether the timer be slipping as in olden times (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** THAILAND [and non]. 13750, Nov 27 at 0040, JBA carrier is the best HSK9 can do via Udorn for English to ``North America`` (instead of getting some sparetime on Grimesland!). What else on band? Huge RHC S9+20/30 on 13740; Chinese S9/+10 on 13580, which is 500 kW the wrong way 215 degrees from Beijing site, so E Asian propagation is not that bad. Also 13770 in Vietnamese, CRI, 500 kW, 190 degrees southward from Xi`an, S8-S9. Why are these so much better than Radio Thailand intending for us? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** TURKEY. 5960, Nov 26 at 2319, VOT English to N America is on, but poor S8-S9. 2346 starts sign-off with full English schedule including the imaginary 06-07 UT broadcast! IS plays from 2347.5 past 2353, but is off at 2356 after I`ve checked PERU on 5980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2009 monitoring: 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 9330? 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full WOR schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report dispatched at 0705 UT Nov 27 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** ALBANIA [non]. 15770, Mon Nov 25 at 2044, Radio Tirana via WRMI is ending `Albania in a Week`, unID song, VG on the caradio while 15770 is often rather weak here off the side of the Eurobeam. 2047.5 `Cultural Activities`, 2050 `Sports Roundup` takes only a minute for scores of some unrecognizable teams (unless you`re Albanian?); 2051 ``ending today`s broadcast`` but fills the rest with songs.
Today`s broadcast if possible should bring us news from the source about the big 6.4 earthquake: 2030 on 15770; 0230 on 9395 --- UT Wed but note that on UT Thu, 0230 is bumped by `This is a Music Show` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CANADA. 7850-CUSB, Nov 26 at 1554, CHU is back! I`ve been checking every day and it was still off Nov 25. Much weaker than // 14670-CUSB as normal for daytime. Ha! I got them even before NRC website: https://nrc.canada.ca/en/chu-short-wave-station/ System status - NRC short wave station broadcasts (CHU) which shows 7.850 MHz had been off since: 2019-10-28 @ 17:00 and was back on as of: 2019-11-26 @ 16:00 Let`s hope CHU is back to stay this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** CUBA. 9535, Nov 26 at 1510, RHC in dead air; then just-barely-modulation // 15140. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** PERU. 5980, Nov 25 at 2349, carrier audible under wall-of-noise Cuban jamming against no Martí, presumed R. Chaski; and it disappears about 2356* but I had dozed off and missed timing it exactly. Several previous attempts could not even get the carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** ROMANIA. 6040, Nov 26 at 0001, poor-fair signal, suptorted talk like RHC often provides; wiggle that patchcord! Which they do, 0004 suddenly Spanish modulation becomes normal, RRI ID. 6020, Nov 26 after 0400, RRI English is VG at 0415, much better than simulEnglish from Turkey on 6125 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960-, Nov 25 at 2349, JBA carrier on the minus side, no doubt PBS Xinjiang, land of Uighur brainwashing by the ChiCom. VOT may have been missing again for 2300 English, or I just missed their closing. BTW there is another station even more on the minus side of 5960 which comes on later, Kuwait scheduled from 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2009 monitoring: on IRRS 7290 via UTwente SDR, confirmed Monday November 25 cutting on in progress at 1900:23 as I am starting to recite the KNLS schedule, which occurs about 1:20 into the program; therefore the playback started close to 1859! Altho the big carrier came on air at *1856, almost muscling aside the CRI ACI, it remained silent, no Aïda, no ID, no IRRS sign-on, no news, cutting on modulation with WOR already running, just as has been happening for the past two or three weeks. Anyhow there is no doubt it`s on the air today. Via Romania? Ivo Ivanov in neighboring Bulgaria maintains it is; but does not refute Alexander Busneag`s analysis that there is no spare transmitter available at that time in Romania. At 1928 I check 7290 here in OK, and detect a JBA carrier. But Harold Frodge, Midland MI was able to get more last week: ``ROMANIA: 7290, IRRS (presumed); 1902, 11/18; Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio. Poor with occasional fair peak in the QRN + co-channel QRM. No co-channel candidates in the List Log Lists, so probably hamsters`` (The 7290 area is prime hangout for American hams running AM instead of LSB.) Also confirmed UT Tuesday Nov 26 at 0115 the 0100 on WRMI 7780, S9-S7. Next: 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 9330? 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Full WOR schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. 15151.5-USB, Nov 26, 2019 at 1440, 2-way in colloquial Spanish INTRUDERS. Have also logged them numerous times on this frequency before, dating back to 2006y! Glenn Hauser logs November 24-25, 2019 |
|
Monday, November 25 2019
** CUBA. 13770, 13841, 13629, 13558, Nov 25 at 1539, approx. spots of spurblobs out of RHC 13700; not much program audio but easier to hear in AM than in FM, along with trace of F# tones. The second-orders are much weaker and no third-orders detectable another 69-71 kHz out. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EAST TURKISTAN. I don`t have a new SW log to attach this to, but check out this from NPR Morning Edition as heard Nov 25 at 1435 UT via KOSU: ``Leaked Documents Offer A Peek Inside China's Detention Of Uighurs November 25, 2019 7:41 AM ET Heard on Morning Edition Listen· 4:16 4-Minute Listen https://www.npr.org/2019/11/25/782549071/leaked-documents-offer-a-peek-inside-chinas-detention-of-uighurs NPR's Steve Inskeep talks to China expert Adrian Zenz about the documents which provide a look at the Chinese government's crackdown on ethnic minorities in the country's Xinjiang province.`` Think of this whenever you hear Xinjiang PBS or any CRI via Kashgar or Urumqi. Or ANY CRI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** KOREA SOUTH. 4880, Nov 25 at 0738, JBA talk seems Korean as in Echo of Hope, propagating already and thus avoiding the Brazilians on 4885. Yes, still on 4880 at regular time of 1358; now intermittent RTTY or something circa 4882. Ron Howard agrees and adds: ``3980 // 4880 // 5990 // 6245 // 6348 // 9095, Echo of Hope - VOH, with the weekly change of frequencies that is done on Monday (today Nov 25). All frequencies not jammed; 1129+, start of the daily English language lesson. My audio at http://bit.ly/2rpFY9o The language lesson will be repeated in three hours time (1429) (Ron Howard, Asilomar State Beach, CA, Etón E1, antenna: 100' long wire, WOR iog via DXLD)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** KURDISTAN [non]. 11540, Nov 25 at 1413, two stations mixing about equally, medium SAH, Dengê Welat and maybe an Erdogan speech (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2009 monitoring: confirmed Sunday November 24 at 2155 the 2130 on WRMI 7780, fair. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 25 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S7-S9, right after Bob Zanotti attempts to ID but only gets his name out, squeezed in after another full canned ID by someone else. I did not deliberately interrupt him. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 25 at 0230 on reactivated WRMI 9395, S9+10 with some fades to S7; back on, our only airing via the NNW antenna, and also on 7780 to the NE, S9+10 on meter, but sounds much softer. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 25 from 0359 on Area 51 webcast; and on WBCQ 5130 at 0427 check but JBA; 9330 is also JBA, probably with something else. Also confirmed UT Mon Nov 25 at 0430 on WRMI 9955, VP S9-S7 but JBA; OK on webcast. Next: 1900vUT Monday IRRS 7290 Romania? to WNW 0100 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to NE 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 9330? 0100 UT Thursday WRMI 7780 to NE Need to check whether 7290 can be heard at UTwente or other SDRs; and whether transmission now start before WOR. Question mark after Romania? That has been the assumed site, as IRRS does not comment on transmitter sites they use. Alexander Busneag, Germany, has concluded it can`t be Romania, also because bandwidth is 11 kHz, instead of only 10 for RRI broadcasts: http://ab27.bplaced.net/irrs/7290-irrs.png ``IRRS 9510 kHz is transmitted via SAF (Săftica), 100 kW. SAF is 13 km away from TIG (Țigănești). However, transmissions of RRI (Radio Romania International) via SAF are also registered as TIG in the HFCC database. Nevertheless, IRRS 7290 kHz is apparently NOT transmitted via Romania. RADIOCOM operates 6 SW transmitters of which 5 transmitters are needed by RRI: - 2 transmitters of 300 kW in GAL (Galbeni, Bacău county) -> both transmitters are used by RRI at 1900-2000 for its Romanian language broadcast - 3 transmitters of 300 kW in TIG (Țigănești, Ilfov county) -> 2 transmitters [tx3 and tx1] are not functional at present: (tx3 is a currently unfunctional "backup" transmitter; tx2 is used by RRI at 1900-2000 for its German language broadcast; tx1 is normally also used by RRI and will soon be repaired) - 1 transmitter of 100 kW in SAF (Săftica, Ilfov county) -> the transmitter is used by RRI at 1900-1930 for its Italian language DRM broadcast and 1930-2000 for its Aromanian language broadcast. So there is no free capacity at 1900-2000 for IRRS via ROU. Here is a schedule of all RRI broadcasts in B-19: http://ab27.bplaced.net/rri.pdf (Alexander Busneag, Nov 20, WOR iog via DXLD)`` Someone might perform TDOA during the 7290 19-20 UT broadcast, if we really want to know whence it`s via. Full WOR schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 9330.00, Sunday Nov 24, WLC via WBCQ reported by Richard Langley, NB, heard in Arabic at 2000. Circa 2155 I hear the menacing WLC IS. But by 2207 it`s S9+40/30 simulcasting `Marion`s Attic` from 7490v which is S9-S6 and as usual running about a semi-minute ahead. Same thing happened last Sunday, but presumably not any more after handing over to fulltime WLC as of Nov 28. Stays with WBCQ programming: at 2300 `UBMP`, 0000 Monday Nov 25 `Le Show`, 0100 `Encore`: by 0113, 9330 is S9+20/30 while 7490v is S5-S6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ** U S A. 1200, Nov 25 at 1357 UT, Spanish has overtaken WOAI, soon ID for TUDN Radio, WRTO Chicago with the call letters pronounced in English. More than an hour after Chicago sunrise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) UNIDENTIFIED. 9200-USB, Nov 25 at 1435, 2-way colloquial Spanish, good signal, or at least one-way monolog with puta expletives (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) This report dispatched at 1720 UT Nov 25 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

I logged Radio Algierienne's "Chaine 3" french language network via the 1,500,000 Day/750,000 Watt Night transmitter on 252khz in Tipaza, Algeria. I'm in Laramie, Wyoming 5400 miles away from the 252khz transmitter site. Here's the audio from that logging.
Here's some jazzy chill-out type music from Tue Nov 19th at 636pm mountain time (0036UTC Wed Nov 20) Audio: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16hAo3nlOoj45i8Ua6fV7wyFmZPcTazSv/view?usp=sharing Here is a few odds and ends of some guys talking in french from Wed Nov 20 at 7:45pm mountain time (0145UTC Thu Nov 21) Audio: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jFt9bzt3IGUt05AP89b40D3oig2FlqOe/view?usp=sharing I use an ICOM IC746Pro, a 25 foot long by 10 foot tall magnetic loop antenna and a Zoom H1 handheld digital recorder (The headphone jack output of the radio is fed directly to my recorders line-in input) On Tue, Nov 19, 2019 at 6:46 PM Paul B.
