Nick, I think several people on faceboom have called it Tropo scatter...
BUT... Iâm a total newbie in FM DXing, so I lean on others for more detail.

Thing is, this scatter, of whatever variety it is, is near constant it
seems... and I didnât think aircraft scatter would do that

These sound like they have been received via aircraft scatter Paul. In
CBCK #2 If you listen to the frequency of the flutter (rather than the
program content) you'll hear it decreasing then increasing again.

There are some clever software progs written by radio amateurs that
exploit this mode by looking at some of the virtual radar servers
online. I'm sure the FM DXing community must be using them too.

The fade ups will come out of nowhere and last 5-15 seconds usually, but
sometimes a bit longer. It happens in the morning, at night.. I haven't
noticed a time when it isn't happening.

I suspect My height, the fact the frequencies are pretty empty here and
that the transmitter sites are close to water make this possible.

Radio Sakha, 7295 kHz  View Printable Version

HCDX
Iâll change this to a definite logging. Heard an ID today for âRadio Sakhaâ by male anncr a few seconds after the 1100 time beeps. Signal is better today than it was on Sunday. This station seems to make an appearance whenever there are national elections in Russia. Perhaps the politicos want the ethnic groups in the Far East to feel as though theyâre getting good services? Subject: [HCDX] Radio Sakha, 7295 kHz

Russia, R. Sakha (presumed), 7295 kHz, 1048 â 1103. Continuous music until TOH, then time beeps and male anncr in Russian. Poor to fair. Chinese station even weaker in the background, but could pick out their distinctive time beeps at TOH. Yakutsk was in full darkness at that hour, while Urumqi looks to have about another hour-plus of sunlight. (Art Delibert, N. Bethesda, MD; April 1)
