Subject: [bdxc-news] VOA Studio 7 on 11735 kHz

VOA Studio 7 (for Zimbabwe) is being heard on new 11735 kHz,
seemingly a replacement for 15460 kHz, between 1700-1900 UTC
(1700-1730 in Shona, 1730-1800 in Ndebele, and 1800-1900 with Live Talk).

11735 kHz is presumably via Ascension Island and is just over one minute
behind the parallel frequencies from Botswana on 4930 and 6045 kHz.

11735 kHz was the evening frequency once used by the
Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation and a quick listen might have given hope
that they had returned to shortwave, but sadly that’s not the case!

Thanks to Atsuhiko Takezawa for alerting me to an African-sounding station on this frequency.

73’s Tony
(using KiwiSDR in Johannesburg, but 11735 also audible much weaker here in Birmingham)
