Glenn Hauser logs June 17-18, 2024  View Printable Version

Hauser
** KOREA NORTH. 15180, June 18 at 0651, classical piano music with
orchestra, S9, brief announcement in unknown language, 0655 to open
carrier. Aoki shows VOK in French until 0657 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SLOVAKIA [non]. 15770, June 18 at 0654, Spanish about Eslovaquia on
WRMI, S7/S9, RSI sked daily at 0630; the 0030 on 5010 would be more
convenient (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 18 at *2200 + a few sex, JBA carrier direct
from VOT comes on. But tuning UTwente at 2223, NO signal. Recheck 2256
when measured, now it`s on with IS, IDs in German, S9+35/45, 2300
timesignal 2 sex late, and opening extraneous German. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler. 2305.5* chopoff, no finesse (June 17 amid
FM DX opening, I missed checking this, nor Spain) (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2247 monitoring: confirmed UT
Tuesday June 18 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into Louisiana SDR.

Also confirmed Tuesday June 18 at 1300 on WRMI 9955, S9 direct, no
jamming audible. Next:

2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;
1630 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 6160.

As noncommercial services, financial support appreciated. By MO or
check in US$ on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK
73702.

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to:
woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5850, June 18 at 0702, WRMI-12 is unusually absent instead
of TOMBS, no loss. But would be a loss if still off instead of System
D at 08-09 & 12-13 UT, System F at 10-11 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15150, June 18 at 0650, NO signal from WMLK; but plenty of
others on band. Must have decided to turn it off instead of dead air
as noted 26 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re no 15610 or 12050: ``Glenn, Apologies for not providing a
timely reply. WEWN has maintenance concerns and we hope to perform the
necessary corrections and be back on as soon as possible. Thanks for
the inquiry. Hope you are doing well. Glen`` Tapley -- a single N in
his name, June 18 (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** U S A. With 100 MHz MUF spike NW of here, another try for Es FM DX,
June 18 from 2235 UT on caradio: no Es but some area obs as far as
Nebraska:

93.5 at 2235, ``weather for Red Dirt (nation?), on My Country 93.5:
KKDT Burdett KS 95/95 kW, normal fringer; 2239 tone and NWS warning,
f/out. I thought Red Dirt was more of an Okie thing.

93.9 at 2237, KIMY Watonga OK has *finally* resumed modulating after
5+ days of dead air. Plugs Xmas music all during July on one of The
Gospel Station streams.

95.7 at 2238 and still past 2322, dead air in $ tereo from KXLS Lahoma
OK, and of course also on co-located sibstation 107.1 KNID North Enid.
We have only two commercial radio clusters here and this one keeps
failing.

93.1 at 2242, ``93.1 The River, Nebraska`s country station`` surpasses
usual Kansan in the way. Probably to do with storm front across
central KS and NE. This is: KRVN-FM Lexington, 100/100 kW, related to
the 880 AM station. 514 km/319 stmi

101.3 at 2245, ``Oklahoma`s best country, K-Law 101`` vs heavy CCI
from Wichita. 100/100 kW, KLAW Lawton.

92.7 at 2248, OKC traffic report in sideband of but not // 92.5 KOMA.
Oops, no such translator listed. Is it really bleeding out of the 92.5
signal? Very distorted (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

This report dispatched at 2326 UT June 18

Hauser
** BRAZIL. 9665v, June 17 at 0418, S9+10 in Brazuguese so RVM is on
again past local midnight. Has been varying less away from nominal
lately (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA [and non]. 15785, June 17 at 0434, S3/S5 seems English, i.e.
CRI via Xianyang 59 site, 500 kW at 354 degrees, from east-central
China, almost due north targeting Siberia, why? Also English at 0437
on 17840, i.e. CRI Beijing site also for Russia, why? Anyhow, 16m is
full of signals mostly weaker than this, tnx to the Solsticial
Midnight Sun, too late to chase them all down. Surely all from
Hemisphere East -- or almost, as Woofferton, Noblejas, Bechar and
Bamako are a bit West of Greenwich Meridian.

But also 13m on 21530, 21570, 21800, mostly CNR1 jammers. Also at
0439, algo on 18985 and weaker 18970 - the latter CNR1 jammer/SOH, the
former unlisted. By 1500 UT, in broad sunlight, however, hardly
anything on 16m except a bit of WRMI 17790 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, June 17 at 0411, R. Progreso still on with music, S9+30
but undermodulated. Sked supposedly only until local midnight,
*0030-0400*. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. Always seemed
strange such a limited sked, rather than reaching for 24h like sibling
5025 R. Rebelde, first among equals, but which is gone again now
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6000, June 17 at 0414, RHC strong but JBM, intonation seems
more like Spanish than English. 15230, June 17 at 0432, this RHC on
late, S9+10 but suptorted, definitely in English; without a second
receiver at hand, can`t confirm whether // 6000. 15230, of course is
never a scheduled English frequency. Something`s always wrong at RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9700, June 17 at 0419, S9+40 of dead air, obviously RHC
intermittent frequency, when active turned off sometime after 0400
whenever they get around to it. Something`s always wrong at rHC (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 1570 kHz, UT Monday June 17 at 0410, Spanish dominating,
presumably XERF, in weekly `La Hora Nacional`, fed govt must-carry
hour weekly Sundays at 10 pm local = 0400 UT Mondays since DST has
been dismissed in Mex. Quick check of 1050 XEG, maybe also LHN, but
not //, or at least not synchronized. And 6185? Marimba music, R.
Educación with something else. Need further chex. Also XERF may be on
CDT bleeding over the border? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. [Continued from USA] Sporadic E FM DX: After 0000 UT June
18, DXMAP shows more likely across central USA, but the car is in use
elsewhere. ASAP, I`m back at the dial, starting immediately with:

88.1 at 0025, Spanish talkshow overriding Okies, political about
recent elexions, obviously Mexican. At 0034, non ID as ``88.1 FM`` --
we knew that already, and only that!, and adstring including Soriana.
No local clues. There are 16 XH on 88.1 in the WTFDA FMDB, two of them
with 88.1 in their slogan, but not all by itself. However, PTA is CDMX
as in the only other simullog in this session, XEQ below. In that
case, likely on 88.1 is XHRED-FM 95/95 kW, slogan listed as ``La
Octava`` -- alluding to the eights in its MHz?

92.9 at 0028, Spanish ads and PSAs, two stations mixing; fading in and
out; 0029 one of them IDs as ``La Ke Buena, 92.9``. Shortly news
including about San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, a suburb of
Monterrey; there is one 92.9 elsewhere in NL. 0036 sped up hi-pitched
funny voice taking calls. All gone by 0041. In this case for sure it`s
XEQ-FM, CDMX, 79.07/79.07 kW, the only Mex in the DB with Buena in its
slogan: and yes, they insist on spelling it Ke instead of Qué. 1890
km/1174 stmi (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 93.9, June 17 at 1950 UT, *still* dead air in $ tereo into
caradio, but much weaker than usual; on the way to zero kW too? Now
96+ hours into this futility first noted June 13, from KIMY Watonga.
Streaming still worx via website and a whole buncha platforms, so who
cares about 93.9? Map https://www.thegospelstation.com/ shows a buncha
other FM outlets around OK and TX panhandle, AR and TN. Radio-locator
mentions only one, the long-gone 93.1 in Enid. HQ address in Ada OK,
with 105.1, but which is a mere 75-watt translator of KTGS 88.3, which
is 5.5/5.5 kW in Tishomingo OK. That must really be the net`s
originator, calls matching slogan (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) See also
USA: FMDX

** OKLAHOMA. RF 18, June 17 circa 1530 UT, BAD signal or breaking up
from ION in OKC, ``62`` KOPX-TV, unusual. Unless underpowered, would
be DX QRM: some area tropo on APRS map, but no sign of DX on any other
`open` channel. So what other 18s are there around here? per FCC TV
Query, in OK, only four translators in Grandfield, Hollis, Seiling,
Strong City. In KS, only one LD, in Liberal. I give up at this point
rather than delving into other adjacent states, NM, TX, AR, MO; let
alone almost-adjacent CO, LA. Virtual 62-5 only is of interest with
Scripps News, ex-Newsy which is deliberately uncabled (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, WOR)

** ROMANIA. 11740, June 17 at 0422, S9+20/30 of heavy beat rock. EiBi
shows RRI Galbeni in Romanian hour for S Europe; plus French at
0500-0530 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, Sunday June 16 at 2159, VOT English not off the
air, S9+40/45 into UTwente; not checked direct. News with periodic
theme sounders to remind us it`s news, altho surely it`s olds,
recorded not later than 1245 UT. Then `Weekly Analysis` about the PKK
terrorists until 2224, ``Always-by-your-side`` ptomo, and start
`Letterbox`. As usual, host is totally unprepared, letter after letter
from same listeners in India. Almost everyone is requesting QSLs. Also
one offers a Buddhist prayer. Ralf Urbanski from Germany. One Indian
reports on 7275, which is the N American frequency at 0300. . Andrei
Kuznetsov, who must be Russian, but in Riga ``Letonia``, i.e.
Latvia.

Host finally spells his name, Halil Sarikaya, which means yellow rock.
Get rid of that dot on the i in surname! Lady who sends QSLs doesn`t
speak English, and is way off somewhere else in the vast TRT
buildings: says 6000 work in Ankara and 4000 more elsewhere; have lots
of dining rooms, sports facilities for staff. Then from Ricky Hines,
again! Somewhere in USA and won`t give his postal address [South
Dakota]. Halil wishes he could stop smoking and doesn`t like to be
reminded of health risks, like for World anti-Tobacco Day every May
31. Someone makes Eid wishes. Finally someone from Poland. 2247 time`s
up, I love you all, Goodbye. 2248.5 song which goes into spoken word,
wonder about what? Then 2252 L`Box outro=intro. 2253 Ms Badax {Efsun
Duri Elgeler, per Alan Holder} s/off as if 17620 at 1230. 2254 IS
*almost once* and chopoff, no finesse (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [non]. 13810, June 17 at 0425, M&M conversation in very
gutteral language not Arabic, S9+30/40 and the SSOB: because it`s
MADAGASCAR with BBC Somali M-F at 0400-0430 per EiBi (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2247 monitoring: confirmed Sunday
June 16 at 2000 on WRN Europe webcast, and WRMI webcast-only.

Also confirmed Sunday June 16 at 2157 the 2130 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, S7/S9 on 3975.004, and S9/+10 on 6160.002.

Also confirmed Sunday June 16 at 2330 on WRMI 7570, S9+10/25 into
Georgia SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S7/9+5 and
noisy into Georgia; worse S7/S9 into Querétaro; best S7/9+10 into
Maurice, Louisiana.

Also confirmed UT Monday June 17 from 0300.8 on Area 51 via WBCQ
6159.930, S9+5/15 into NH SDR.

Also confirmed Monday June 17 at 1956 the 1930 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany into UTwente, S9+10/20 on 6160.000, S9+5/10 on 3975.004.
Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW [irregular?];
1300 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?];
2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9395 to NNW;
2330 UT Tuesday SW Radio, Germany 3975;
1930 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975 & 6160;
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW;
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S;

** U S A. 5085, UT Monday June 17 at 0410, WTWW is already off again
on Sunday night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130+v, June 17 at 0413, WBCQ A*ATT is still not off the
air, JBA direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 15150, June 17 at 0428, S9+10/20 open carrier: must be WMLK,
so I may hear their sign-on at 0430 since it`s not a Sabbathday: NOT!
still dead air past 0430 and at next check 0443. Per EiBi & Aoki
supposed to start at 0400. Does a human being turn it on and never
notice there be no modulation? Or is it all automated, zzz? Are you
there/wake up, operating engineer Gary A. McAvin per WRTH (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Finally a sporadic E FM DX opening now at the peak? of the
season; standard boilerplate applies about my methods and objectives
of DXing. All times and dates strictly UT, June 17:

90.1 at 2127 UT, I have KUCO classical music in the backgroud on the
DX-392 when it`s overcome by a pledge drive from WGCU; 2130 ATC, 2132
cut to WGCU news about Fort Myers. It`s only 4.4/4.4 kW. Then I head
for the caradio! 1866 km/1160 stmi

93.1 at 2137, 2154, 2204, dead air in $ tereo as I have been hearing
lately, maybe not Es, but like Es, it fades out completely between
full-quieting peaks. If it`s a FL PTA as above, there are only two
full-powers in state, WFEZ Miami, 98/98 kW; and WKRO-FM Port Orange,
24.5./24.5 kW, way up next to Daytona Beach. Is anyone aware of a
deadair 93.1 anywhere?

From listings in WTFDA and Radio-locator, you might conclude 93.1 be
merely K226BR, Enid, 250/250 watt translator of KIMY 93.9. It`s been
off the air for years! In May *2013* I said it had been gone for a few
weeks; but apparently still licensed, and its dead air would correlate
with the deadair on KIMY, but hardly a constant local signal. Only
other Okies on 93.1 are KWLB Red Oak 19.5/19.5 kW, but way off in the
SE near Wilburton; and K226CW, 170/170 watt translator in Stillwater,
of KOKP 1020, Perry, Triple Play Sports. Now that could be it.
Stillwater: 80/50

93.5 at 2140, ``Revolution 9-3-5``, i.e. WBGF Belle Glade FL, 24/24
kW. Alludes to dance format, not politix! 1950/1212

94.5 at 2142, hard rock on a frequency `open` for DX, not much around
here. The three full-powers in FL are WARO Naples 99/99 kW, classic
rock; WFLF-FM Parker 100/100 kW, rock; and WCFB Daytona Beach 97.5/100
kW, urban AC. Naples is the one closest to 93.5 Belle Glade, 2 minutes
ago and to Ft Myers, 1 minute later. Parker is allegedly near Pánama
City, way up in the panhandle per map key altho I don`t see it.
Naples: 1902/1182

95.3 at 2143, rock, ``95-3 The Beach``: that`s WOLZ Fort Myers, 79/79
kW. 1866/1160

103.5 at 2148, ``Power 103.5``, fakeout, is merely KVSP Anadarko OK.
Despite a hot summer afternoon, I`m also faked out by above average,
near-local levels from Ponca and Wichita on 98.7, 99.3, 104.7.

99.3 at 2145, Spanish vs KLOR Ponca City, with a 1-800 number so
likely USA station. This could well be WWCN, Fort Myers Beach, 45/45
kW. In the PTA and the only 99.3 FL SS.
1868/1161

92.7 at 2152, mention US1 and Key West ad: so it`s WEOW 100/100 kW.
2022/1256

After a break, I check again at 2312, but no Es DX. Continued at:
MEXICO (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, June 17 at 0630, JBA signal signifying that VBTC is
back on air after 5 nights absent; as Ron Howard reports: ```[WOR]
Update - Radio Vanuatu --- Hi Glenn - Have received a quick reply to
my email inquiring what is currently happening with his station being
off the air. Greatly appreciate him taking the time to get back to me
so quickly! Ron (California). His response (2040 UT, June 16):

``Hi Ron, Thanks, we had an issue with a power cut but it is ok now.
We thank you for always listening to us. I will let our radio team
know that they have a regular listener from the States. Thanks,
Cordialement/ Regards,

Warren Robert

Searching `Capitaine Blight` indicates that Capt. Bligh, of Bounty
Mutiny fame, is often misspelt, or respelt? in linx to Tahiti, etc.
Nice of the Vanuatuans to name a rue for him, almost? Later Ron
reports:

``7260, R. Vanuatu, 0625-0740 UT, on June 17. Happiness is finding
this station back on the air after a short absence! Fairly heavy
QRN/static`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs June 15-16, 2024  View Printable Version
Sunday, June 16 2024

Hauser
** BRAZIL. 9665v, June 16 circa 0640, still no signal from RVM; how
about their others, 11750v and 5940v? Brasília SDR gets them all at
1740, screaming gospel huxter in Brazuguese: 5939.997, much stronger
on 9665.016 and 11749.847; however, Wolfgang Büschel reported via
remotes earlier on June 16: ``re Brazil, yes monitoring Rádio Voz
Missionária at 0545 UT reveals no txion on air on SW channels this
morning, 5940v, 9665v, nor 11749v kHz on air at present``. Maybe RVM
have merely deliberately ceased running all-night 24 hours? (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 27185, June 16 at 0356, Enid CB pirate relay of `K-Love`
still going from 5 hours ago, but different trio of frequencies, not
measured exactly this time: 27185 is overmodulated/distorted, but also
circa 27225 weaker but clearer, and 27265 at ~40 kHz intervals plus,
instead of 20-kHz intervals to the minus side of 27185; why? One more
check at 0637: 27225 S9 with OK modulation, 27185 still distorted, and
no third frequency (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 93.9, June 16 at 1649, KIMY Watonga, STILL dead air in
$ tereo, now 70 hours since first noted June 13. Standard derision
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

{correcting a time in previous report; replace with:}

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 15 at 2210, NO signal direct from VOT
English; nor even unto UTwente checked at 2220, nor on
previous/possible accidental/alternates, 11795 or 9875. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2247 monitoring: confirmed Saturday
June 15 at 2314 the 2300 on WTWW 9475, S9+20/30 into Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed UT Sunday June 16 at 0000 on WRMI 9955, S9/+15 into
Missouri SDR and with Cuban pulse jamming, which I deeply resent.

Also confirmed UT Sunday June 16 from 0306 on WA0RCR, 1860, MO,
S9+10/22 into nearby SDR but with some storm crashes, earlier than
nominal 0315v.

Also confirmed Sunday June 16 from a few sex before 1900 on IRRS via
AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz only, S9+12 into nearby Noale SDR. Now WOR
starts on time instead of after a 3-minute Verdi piece they used to
play after signing off SW 7290. So WOR should play intact until 1929.
Next:

Thought they were running until 0430 nightly, maybe only weekdays
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 5130.186, June 16 at 0404, whoopee! This WBCQ is reactivated
for first time since last heard May 11, or definitely off as of May
14. Talking but buried in high storm noise level direct, probably
again `All *rump All The Time`. Yes, that`s it, better reception to
PEI SDR at 0454 which shows 5130.161, correctly calibrated to within 1
Hz of WWV 5000.000. At 0458 into NH SDR much better S7/S9 at 5130.158,
also accurately calibrated. Presumably again attempting to run 24/7.
June 16 at 1525, JBA into nearby NH SDR, S3/S5 on 5130.246v (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9955, UT Sunday June 16 at 0643, WRMI S9+25 in
Spanish about El Salvador, as we now know from 24 hours earlier, news
from R. Francia Internacional, atop pulse jamming. Godforbid Cubans
should be allowed to hear this (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 3954.998, June 15 at 2300, last chance to hear this
month`s `Uncle Bill`s Melting Pot`, mostly music enjoyable from Haiti
and cohabitant of Hispaniola, Dominican Republic, via Channel 292,
GERMANY, S9+5/15 into UTwente; improved somewhat during the hour
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, June 16 at 0640, R. Vanuatu still absent, fifth
night in a row. Ron Howard agrees: ``R. Vanuatu, 0715+ UT, June 16.
Off the air during random checking of all their known frequencies,
just as Glenn has reported; email sent again to Warren Robert, senior
technical officer`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 93.9, June 16 at 1649 UT as I start caradio bandscan for
Es FM DX going on all around here, turn on already tuned here to hear
some Spanish trying to break thru dead air in $ tereo, STILL from KIMY
- but in next 23 minutes not a bit of Es anywhere, and 93.9 SS was
most likely fringe KZRD Dodge City KS. Also at 1651 briefly dead air
in $ tereo on 93.1, maybe DX since as soon as that`s gone not much
signal from my usual fringer in KS (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL [non]. 9665v, June 15 circa 0630, NO signal from RVM. If
anything beyond USA be audible on 31m this hour, it`s normally RVM.
Suspect it be off. At 1442, JBA carrier, likely CHINA, CNR5 (Glenn

the CW colorbars they broadcast for a quarter-hour at 2330 UT June 14,
as in last report under OKLAHOMA:

Google: ``The network's name is derived from the first letters of the

** OKLAHOMA. 27184.86 AM, June 15 at 2205, local Enid CB pirate
finally heard again // relaying 105.5 K288FX, `K-Love` translator of
KYLV 88.9 OKC, praise music. I`ve checked for this often, several
times a week, last logged May 5. And like before, there are two more
signals on other CB channels in //: 27164.5 stronger than 27184.86,
S9+20 vs S9+10, absolutely steady groundwave, BUT modulation much
louder on the upper one, so which is a spur? And a JBA much weaker in
sig and mod on 27144.15, approx. The measurements match, about 20.35
kHz apart. Will be interesting if anyone ever DX this by skip vs CB
pileups (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, June 15 at 1456, K17JN-D, the 3ABN satellator,
only local TV signal in Enid, is definitely back on air now at usual
sufficient strength on STB meter. And still misnames itself
``K17JI-D`` which is really in California! (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** POLAND [non]. See USA: WRMI 9955. It would be nice if they happen
to relay R. Poland ES at a more awake hour than 0700 (Glenn Hauser,

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 15 at 2210, NO signal direct from VOT
English; nor even unto UTwente checked at 2210, nor on
previous/possible accidental/alternates, 11795 or 9875. Something`s
always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. 9955, Sat June 15 at 0633, like last weekend, WRMI
stays on here overnight, news in Spanish, from what? Last week I
thought it were RAE relay since several news items about Argentina.
This week I keep listening past 0700. M&W anchors speak very rapidly,
and I do not detect an Argie or Castilian accent. Problem is Cuban
pulse jamming almost as strong as this only fair signal direct. 0638
again items about Argentina. 0643 I thought they mentioned ``Radio Paz
Internacional en Francia`` but not correct or at least not an ID. 0647
``Radio Francia Internacional``; 0657 item about some Festival ``aquí
en París``. 0659 another definite ID as R. Francia Internacional;
pause, no WRMI ID, and like last week at 0700 starts ``Radio Poland
External Service``, in English as on WRN sked, datestamped as ``Friday
June 14``, so yesterday`s show. Time for me to quit/QRT.

Note: RFI has not broadcast Spanish on SW for many years, but still as
in WRTH 2005; in WRTH 2024 you would not even know they still have
Spanish webcasts, but see this:
https://www.rfi.fr/es/programas/
Probably same things on 9955 UT Sundays, but not on air this late
weekdays.

This is still not accounted for on the WRMI skedgrids. Xmtr 3 9955
shows TOMBS Sat & Sun at 04-11 UT. System B sked however now shows R.
Francia Internacional daily at 1-2 am EDT = 0500-0600 UT, not
0600-0700, internet only except Sat & Sun also 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
WOR)

** VANUATU. 7260, June 15 at 0630, fourth night in a row, still no

resume harmonicizing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA [non]. 15474.728, Fri June 14 at 1459 past 1500, JBA
carrier at S4/S7 into LU5AGQ remote in Argentina, and no sign of LRA36
15475.98 RC USB if it`s still on as scheduled. The spoiler is
UZBEKISTAN site with Furusato no Kaze for Korea North (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** BARBADOS. 28436 USB, June 14 at 2203, 8P5KM, calling CQ Parx on the
Air and working mostly UStations, and a ZL. Hard to copy his call
correctly: penultimate letter fonetik sounded like sierra or zulu?
must have been kilo as per dxheat contacts on same frequency; also
uttering ``BB0013``. Neither SM nor ZM in QRZ.com, but 8P5KM is not
either! QRZ.com of course is voluntary and unofficial but it`s rare to
hear a station yet unfound there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15140 & 11760, June 14 at 1450, both possible RHC frequencies
are NOT on the air. Someething`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 93.9, June 13 at 1901 UT check on caradio, KIMY Watonga
is *still* dead air in $ tereo, that is about 23 hours since I first
noticed it June 12 at 2019. AND, **still** dead air in $ tereo June 14
at 1528, and 2052; and 2215 when I get RDS display of THE_____ /
GOSPEL__ / STATION_. Of course I have not monitored constantly, but no
reason to believe they were ever modulating for the last 51 hours at
least and no telling how long before that.

IMHO, a station so incompetent as to broadcast nothing for such a
stretch deserves to have its license revoked, so something else can
make better use of the spectrum! OTOH, the less gospel-huxtering on
OUR AIR, the better. FYI, spelling $ tereo with a dollar sign has no
financial implication, just a convention stemming from the late Bruce
Elving`s FM Atlases, a single $ synbol in listings (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 27, 43-1, June 14 at 2330, KAUT supposed to be
carrying NBC Nightly [sic] News, shunted from an hour earlier on its
primary station KFOR with stupid ballgame preemption. Instead until
2336 we see color bars and a CW network feed with UT timer to the
fraxion of a second abottom. 2336 briefly switches to KFOR slide, back
to CW, and floating white square to prove it hasn`t frozen, Also
labeled:
Primary G19, Transponder 15, Service 1
Secondary G35, Transponder 20, Service 1
Along with tone. Still past 2344 with occasional interruptions. 2345
finally starts some sitcom, not any NBC NN, tsk2. First noted this on
Optimum cable ch 2, then direct via antenna, KAUT`s primary RF channel
is 19 but it`s one of few ATSC 3.0 stations, invisible here.
Rabbitears.info shows orginary ATSC of KAUT is really RF 27.5 (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, June 14 at 2200, token English from SNR, again MQ
only, preview interview with editor of Madrid Review, and then some
special event coming up on June 14; news, S9+30/40 direct, and the
other three also audible, 17715, 15520, 15390 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11785.009, June 14 at 2159, VOT IS, S9+10 direct but too
much noise. At 2236 into UTwente when measured, S9+25/35, music; 2237
`That`s Why` repeat on how a serpent became the symbol for medicine:
wish I could follow what Ms Badax is trying to enunciate; 2244 music;
2248 ``Always-by-your-side`` promo; 2249 music; 2253 s/off by the OM
ignoring SW; 2254.6 IS a couple times and off shortly before 2253*
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2247 monitoring: confirmed Friday
June 14 at 2057 the 2030 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.995 kHz, S9+15
into nearby Noale SDR.

Not confirmed Fri June 14 at 2057 the 2030 on WRMI webcast only as
still on System B sked: music, instead.

Confirmed Friday June 14 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, first SW broadcast,
S9+10/20 direct but seems undermodulated; no jamming audible.

Also confirmed Friday June 14 at 2232 the 2230 on SW Gold Radio,
Germany, 3975.003, S9+5 into UTwente.

WOR confirmed UT Friday June 14 2229-2234 on World FM mp3 stream, New
Zealand, but I think it was old 2246 not 2247. Stations should hasten
to get new WOR on air ASAP as there may be some perishable info.

** U S A. 3265.171, June 14 at 2348, this WBCQ is on for a change,
S7/S8 into NH SDR with FKB preacher // 7489.929, S9+15. 5130 is still
OFF. 6159.930 with another gospel huxter, S7/S9. 2359 Allan comes on,
sounds like live for a change, then starts his WTO theme, for the 0000
UT Saturday June 15 broadcast of `AAAWWW`, after 7 weeks of reruns.
I`m listening to 3265+. Sweetheart/Darlin`, is not to be heard at
first from remote, fiddling with patch bay. Admits a while since a
live shew, normal spring/summer hiatus, tremendously busy; his
birthday 71 was June 12. ``The whole world is being rigged for World
War III`` -- we can`t do this, got to stop it. Gotta get a landslide
going, like in EU leaning more to ``common sense``. So it`s going to
be all or mostly politix. By 0011 has drifted down to 3265.158.
Credits Angela with ``saving my life``. *rump will keep America from
going Communist. [yeah, right, rather Fascist]. As usual, Angela
sounds even more radical as she yells over the phone, from Fla? WBCQ
has a SW receiving-room, radios set up to feed into mixing board in
case they have to relay something else with no other programming
available. 0025 datestamp at 14 of June 2024, simulcasting on 3265 and
7490. Later he delusions that *rump back in the WH will call Putin and
Zelenskiy and tell them to end the war; that`s that. ``Creatures like
Biden and Trudeau are treasonous, communist bastards, must be
removed``, he imagines. Joins Hal Turner a sesquiminute late (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 96.7, June 14 at 1530 UT, ``Sports Radio 96.7 and 1310, The
Ticket`` from DFW Metroplex market is strong enough briefly to unsee
any $ tereo icon, i.e. talk format is in mono. FYI, $ tereo instead of
mono automatically reduces the full-quieting coverage area of an FM
station; by what percentage? This is 90/90 kW KTCK-FM. NOT flagged as
Mono mode in WTFDA FM Database. Some talk stations stay in $ tereo
anyway, since some receivers used to ignore mere mono stations; is
this still a problem? And occasional $ tereo music in commercials,
etc., really stands out.

Lacking any sporadic E FM DX, also noticed in this caradio bandscan,
June 14 at 1535 UT, the Bott station on 94.3 west of Wichita in Kansas
is also in mono, i.e. KCVW 100/100 kW in Kingman, not flagged mono in
WTFDA FMDB. Are all Bott FMs in mono? Need to check 95.1 KQCV 100/100
kW ``Shawnee`` = OKC. Searching Slogan field, there are 112 Bott hits
in the DB, many of them translators, not a single one `mono` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WOR)
