** CHINA. 11815, Dec 4 at 0746, expecting Brasil, but in Chinese, S5/S6 with heavy Doppler flutter, unless it`s an extremely unstable transmitter. Same kind of Dflutter on 12055. Aoki shows 11815 at 07-09 is CNR1 jamming from Baoji-Sifan site, EiBi 11815 at 07-08 as CNR from Beijing site, but nothing listed by either as target. 12055: EiBi at 06-08 CNR17 in Kazakh from site L; Aoki at 07-08 CNR17 Kazakh from Lingshi 725 site (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** MEXICO [and non]. 800, Dec 4 at 0730 UT, distorted QRM atop KQCV OKC, no doubt XEERG NL still not fixed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1670+ kHz, Dec 4 at 2115-2150 UT, another attempt to locate source of Virtual DJ Radio relay, somewhere near the intersexion of US 81 & US 412 in Enid, mostly afoot. Quite frustrating as line noise level is awful all over Enid, varying from low to extreme, but never near zero. Might be at one of several restaurants, bars or stores in the area, altho there are residences only one block to the north/west. Could be employing this to feed background music speakers in a business, at no cost. But I never approached any with very strong signal as a giveaway (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Dec 4 at 2158 into Maryland SDR, no signal again today from REE`s N American frequency. At 2258 direct, I conclude 17715 is also off, 17755 JBA carrier, but 12030 off the back for ME is sufficient S9. 2300 opening English, topic to be investigation into how over 7000 patients at care-homes in Madrid died in 2020 as result of COVID, no such toll elsewhere in Spain. 2301 news leads with situation in South Korea (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 4 at 2258, no signal from VOT English direct; 9610 algo talk, not IS. Later in hour into UTwente, only Chinese on 5960, Mongolian? on 9610. Second night in a row with something erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 28278 CW, Dec 4 at 2305, VVV DE W7UUU/B CN87, good signal from beacon but NOT in the WGB roster on this or any frequency. QRZ.com: ``W7UUU USA flag USA, DAVID E "Dave" Ellison, PO Box 383, Burley, WA 98322, USA`` with impressive photos of his shack including when it was burned out, but not a word about any beacon. Has strict rules about QSLing (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: confirmed UT Wednesday December 4 at 0030 on WRMI 9395, S9/+15 into Georgia SDR. Also confirmed UT Wednesday December 4 at 0030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.003, JBA S7/S8 into UTwente. Midnight-MUFs must be way down now. Also confirmed Wednesday December 4 at 2041 the 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S9/+5 into UTwente. Also confirmed Wednesday December 4 at 2100 on WBCQ 7490 -76 Hz = 7489.924, S9+5/15 into Maryland SDR. Next: 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. As a noncommercial service, financial support welcome such as a contribution via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 660, Dec 4 at 0729 UT, Navajo drumming & chanting, KTNN obviously again not nulling toward NYC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1650 kHz, Dec 4 at 0540 UT, I`m checking remotes for signs of KSVE El Paso TX - since for a few nights we are no longer hearing the continuous tone it had been broadcasting after 0500/now 0600? There are two in AZ, a new? one at Concho in the northeast of WA7CCA, and another near Phoenix. KSVE had a TUDN sports format. Instead hearing pop tunes in Spanish, 0544 & 0546 ID for KBJD Denver; around 0600 several mentions of ``Radio La Red, Denver``. Have queried whether DXer Robert Vance in El Paso can confirm KSVE be off the air. He agrees no more tones, but the question is, whether KSVE is still on the air at all, and whether still on air overnight with anything, even a carrier, lacking the tone. Still TUDN sports in Spanish? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** URUGUAY. 28417 USB, Dec 4 at 2307, CX3AT, Lalo, with quick contacts in Spanish or English; took a while for him to utter his own call. QRZ.com: ``CX3AT Uruguay flag Uruguay, LALO GIORDANO, Montevideo, Uruguay`` with lots of photos including a dog, certificates (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 9960, Dec 4 at 0743, JBA talk, so R. Vanuatu again running past 0700 on this frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 0036 UT December 5 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

** EGYPT. 9439.843, Dec 3 at 2150 direct, S9+10/20 vs noise level of S9+10, music and can`t tell if very distorted; surely R. Cairo in some rare activity for English sesquihour from 2115. Then I see these other report in the WOR iog:
Andy Reid, Ontario at 2157: ``They are on the air tonight with a fair signal into NAm and modulating but with a lot of distortion. 9440`` Walt Salmaniw, BC: ``Thanks, Andy. Sure enough, excellent strength into Masset on measured 9439.854 at 2205. As I typed this, dropped the transmitter. I am seeing something closer to nominal still there. 73, Walt`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NORTH AMERICA. 11529.882, Dec 3 at 2152, JBA carrier direct, presumed Hikari FM, pirate. Also noted many other days and times if not logged (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 960, Dec 3 at 0739 UT, local KGWA Enid again in dead air, or maybe JBM but that`s probably another understation (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 3 at 2258, no signal direct from REE to North America but would be Sefardí Tuesday not English. 12030 well audible, 17715 and 17755 detectable. Same later in hour at UTwente check. Something`s not nominal at Noblejas. BTW, via AER we learn that REE head Antonio Buitrago will be discussing the future of SW, [in Spanish], Wed Dec 4 at 1830, and hope will be available later: [AER foroDX] Radioaficionados. (Vìa Toni Morilla)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [non]. 5960, Dec 3 at 2257 and well past 2300, no signal in English from VOT direct; algo on 9610. At 2322 into UTwente, 5960 with Chinese only, 9610 with Mongolian only. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: confirmed UT Tuesday December 3 at 0330 on WRMI 7780, S9+5/20 into S TX SDR. Also confirmed Tuesday December 3 at 1400 on WRMI 9955, S9+10/20 direct and undermodulated; as usual no ID just before 1400. Also confirmed Tuesday December 3 at 1500 on WRMI 9955, JBA direct. Also confirmed Tuesday December 3 at 2100 on IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.998 kHz, S9+10 into UTwente. Next: 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. As a noncommercial service, financial support welcome such as a contribution via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com One may also contribute by MO or check on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [non]. 1322.998, Tue Dec 3 at 2058, IRRS via AM Italia, tuned in just before via UTwente and heard Jeff White standard closing for `Wavescan` including WWCR among its outlets. As we have reported, the only known WWCR airing, UT Sunday 0430 on 4840 had been canceled a few weeks ago. Does Jeff not know, or is it back or at some other time? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU [and non]. 9960, Dec 3 at 0720, JBA carrier so surely RV resumed and running past 0700; just as Ron Howard had heard Dec 2: still on to s/off at 1104* + carrier remained, instead of switching to 3945 around 0658. Meanwhile 9955 is also a JBA carrier, yet 9395 from WRMI is S9+20/25! (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL ``Good morning, dearest Glenn. So interesting is the article devoted to your long life DX'er, published in SWL'ing Post. Thank you for your website “WORLD OF RADIO” for the very useful information from the world of radio listening. My kind regards! de Alfredo, IK7JGI, Gallerati`` This report dispatched at 0016 UT December 4 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/

Tuesday, December 03 2024
** CANADA. 300 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0748 UT, dash and YIV, 500-watt ND beacon at Island Lake, MB - so one more Canadian not yet decommissioned (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA [and non]. 6180, Dec 2 at 0238, huge S9+30/40 dead air in Mandarin from CRI via Quivicán, but JBA Spanish underneath, i.e. La Voz Alegre, MWV MADAGASCAR, an incredible example of frequency mismanagement. If one didn`t know about this, might think it were JBM in Spanish only from RadioCuba, where something`s always wrong (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MEXICO. 1050 kHz, Dec 2 at 0730, song with refrain to the tune of ``Yes, we have no bananas``, word sounds like ``Vibanana`` which could also be interpreted as ``Viva Nana``, on XEG ``La Ranchera de Monterrey`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 267 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0747, HET, ND beacon at Henryetta, ID barely copiable, and better if tuned to 265.5 USB, as off-tuning is sometimes the key (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 1670.05 approx., Dec 2 at 2011 UT, JBA carrier direct to home rx; after 2115 I return to the US 81/412 intersexion where I first had good signal a biday ago from Virtual DJ Radio - and there it is again, apparently a different DJ, as per the website they have a large roster of them - the deal being that once installing some software, anyone can play DJ without having to get a job at a real radio station. With the DX-398 in hand, I DF it at first as definitely NE/SW, then driving back and forth and around, it seems to be more westerly than easterly, but with lots of noise in various blox, do not manage to get a direxional fix on it from a different angle. And driving around the busiest intersexion at rush hour and with low sun in eyes is not a good idea. Maybe if it`s not too cold some midday with plenty of time, I`ll pursue it afoot (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** ROMANIA [and non]. 7220, Dec 2 at 2302, RRI English is almost sufficient with USB tuning vs a ham on 7220 LSB, who sounds oblivious to all the QRoM he`s getting. In this case RRI is not an intruder as it`s aimed away from the Americas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 2 at 2230, REE NAm frequency is off again, while the other three remain, 12030, 17715, 17755. At 2300, 12030 backwards for ME is S9+10/20 direct but insufficient vs same local noise level. At 2317 into UTwente, 12030.001- is JBA S6/S7. Finally try Maryland SDR, where it is sufficient S6/S8 vs lower noise level there, in some medical discussion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. 9610, Sun Dec 1 at 2130-2145+, NO VOT signal into UTwente, likely off the air instead of toward S Asia. 5960.003, Sun Dec 1 at 2259, VOT not off the air, IS and English ID, S9+30/40 into UTwente, s/on as if 1330 on 13635, something`s always awry at Ankara, and into olds. 2313 ending `Weekly Analysis`, 2314 `Letterbox` with another host, sounds much like Halil, but a guy who says he last did it in 2008y. Could I understand his name? Or course not. 1) Vilnius, Lithuania, someone wants to know if VOT has or will test DRM. No answer yet from engineering dept, at least host did a little research, but there was a DAB test from Istanbul in 2021 [i.e. VHF not HF]. 2) Harald Süss, Austria, with three follow-ups for QSLs; I notice the 6CI underneath. 2318 break for song, why? Relief from not much talk? 2322, 3) Siddartha ---, wants lotsa swag, but politely refused due to ``problems with acquisitions``. Notes that 14/11 was World Diabetes Day, tnx for reminder and ``Merry Xmas`` forth and back. 4) Christer Brunström, Sweden, who`s called almost every week; says he was a teacher for 40 years, now retired and wrote a book. Discussing Turkish alfabet reform of 1928 - was a Swedish philologist involved? Host can`t find any, but will research further if he has a name. 5) Chris Makouth??, Canada, not getting QSLs due to postal strike there, but they`ll send him another one anyway. This program was not live because there will be a TRT International Forum in I`bul Nov 29-30 and a VOT team is going there to help with translations, etc. 2328 another song. 2332 finally `Lbox` theme outro, then jazz. I retune just in time to hear IS & ID in German, then chop at 2356*. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.016, Mon Dec 2 at 2259, VOT not off the air, IS and English ID, S9+20/30 direct. Into UTwente at 2317 when measured, S9+25/35 but heavier CCCCCCI than usual. 2321 music, 2328 `That`s Why` on history of cameras, at first ``camera was a room``; music. 2353 s/off as if 1330 on 13635, IS to 2354*. Something`s always awry at Ankara (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY [and non]. A new "at-a-glance" programme grid of the Voice of Türkiye's English programmes on shortwave has been uploaded today for the B-24 season. This single-page PDF can be downloaded from: https://app.box.com/s/kbdxb4c5lwpju0kpoi27aiwc35br2g2a https://app.box.com/s/kbdxb4c5lwpju0kpoi27aiwc35br2g2a/file/1713957462643?sb=/details or for short: https://bit.ly/3LgKNJ2 You will also find the programme grids for the English programmes of BBC WS, VOA, R Romania Int., and CGTN Radio, along with the latest "Music programmes on Shortwave" list at those links. I hope that you find these uploads useful (Alan Roe, Teddington, UK, Dec 1) ** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2271 monitoring: Also confirmed Sunday December 1 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia, 1322.998+ kHz, S9 but noisy into UTwente. Also confirmed Sunday December 1 at 2257 the 2230 on SW Radio, Germany, 3975.002+, S8/9+5 into UTwente. Also confirmed Sunday December 1 at 2330 on WRMI 7780, still NOT 7570, S9/+10 into Georgia but some JBA signal on 7570, presumably Korea North; and 7780 much better S9/+15 into NA5C South TX SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into NA5C S TX SDR. Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 after 0230 on WRN North America webcast. Also confirmed UT Monday December 2 at 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 -65 Hz = 6159.935, S7/9+5 into NH SDR. This signal remains quite weak direct. Also barely confirmed Monday December 2 at 2041 the 2030 on SW Radio, Germany, via Euremotes, JB to not audible and noisy at all of them starting with UTwente, Ireland, UK, Sweden, but it sounds like me. Next: 0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW; 1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 1500 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]; 2100 UT Tuesday IRRS 1323-Italy; 0030 UT Wednesday WRMI 9395 to NNW; 0030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2030 UT Wednesday SW Radio, Germany 3975; 2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW; 0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S; 1730 UT Thursday SW Radio, Germany 3975. 5800 & 5850, UT Mon Dec 2 at 0233, WRMI with Ray Robinson telling the early history of Adventist World Radio, i.e. `Wavescan` which is NO LONGER affiliated with AWR! Not synchronized, since 5800 is playing System D and 5850 System F (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1620 kHz, Dec 2 at 0724 UT, Fox Sports Radio, a few seconds behind 1640 KZLS Enid. 1620 is KOZN, Bellevue [Omaha] NE (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1670, Dec 2 at 0744 UT, ``Macon BIN 1670``, i.e. WMGE Dry Branch GA; with low het presumably usual XEFCR Reynosa. Enid`s `Virtual DJ Radio` may be in there too, but overwhelmed more than a few blox away, especially at night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A. 1700, Dec 2 at 0723 UT, gospel huxter in Spanish BUT with ``pronounced`` Brazilian accent!, ``aqui em Dallas``. Recent format change per NRC AM Log Updates, DX News Nov 26: ``1700 KKLF TX Richardson — Format to SS:REL (ex-SS); slogan to “Radio Visión Latina Dallas.” (WH) (JW) {Wayne Heinen, John Wilkins}`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 233 MCW kHz, Dec 2 at 0746, JBA carrier: RNA shows 5 in USA: AG in GA, ALJ in AK, AZN in MO, HEM in TN, OKS in NE, VHN in TX, and one in Canada, BR in MB. None of which I have definitely logged before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report despatched at 0325 UT December 3 _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/
